  1. I feel the need to advert this group more. MAELSTROM COMMAND We don't make you strong. We make you Maelstrong.
  2. Look on the bright side, guys. At least they didn't complete eliminate the possibility of being a dragoon outside of NPCs (looking at you, dragoons who just killed a dragon or two). Whole situation reminds me of Star Wars and how the expanded universe went to Legends rather than Canon. Also reminds me a bit of New Testament overriding Old Testament. Anyways. We'll carry on and you'll figure out loopholes to keep your role, albeit slightly reduced, to conform to new lore policy.
  3. Chose response #2 for this type of thread. You'll live. Just make characters on another server and transfer to Balmung (or even Gilgamesh, but for some reason I haven't heard much from them recently news wise...) if the new attempt to make another community doesn't pan out well. And another quick warning with new communities. You may find yourself desperately seeking new RP.
  4. It's a newer linkshell, sirs/madams, but it checks out.
  5. Oh wow, I actually managed to catch one of these with open slots nowadays. #2 -- Salt in the Wound, yo. Maelstrong Represent!
  6. What server is it on: Balmung! Wait. Yes. Housing Area: Mists. Maelstrong. Ward: Ward 2 Subdivision, Apartment 36. Owner's Name/Who to contact: Leggerless Hanzou Title if it has one: The Teafeestry What the purpose is: A self-service cafe hosting a variety of tea, coffee, pastries, and other goodies. In the afternoons, evenings, and nights, alcohol--wine, whiskey, rum, mead, and beer--is available for consumption and served to customers on request. When is it open? If the door is unlocked, then assume its open and walk-in. If I'm not there ICly, there are NPC servers you may utilize for RP purposes instead. IMAGES?! Of course!
  7. HI, LEGGERLESS HERE WITH THE ALL NEW CHARACTER IDEA! Also cake. Ok, so I'm toying around with a very odd idea presented to me yesterday to try out ICly! A statistician! To that end, here's what I'm looking at for a very quick overview. I like to call it... Business Cat. Name: W'chaza Yheli (OOCly, the name's Leggerless Hanzou, because it's my universal handle for eSports/theorycrafting items across all games. I like consistency.) IC Age: 20 Race/Clan: Seeker of the Sun - Female Miqo'te Short Background: Raised by a former Maelstrom Captain in the way of sword, pen, and books, she has the connections to ascend quickly through the ranks up to Storm Sergeant Third Class. While much of her instructor training is related to the sword, her recent interests found her practicing arcanima, math, theory, and other scientific items. She never really did enjoy combat, but knew its value in self-defense. Her position and comfort operating in the Maelstrom Command building--while still at the bottom of the rung and often caught up with the brunt of paperwork--led to being just a tad bit off on the social side. Appearance: Brown hair with white highlights, silver eyes, and usually seen with a sword on her back and a book. Appearance consists of very light clothing up to leather; never anything above in weight. There are also times she'll don the Maelstrom soldier uniform as well as the OIC uniform with the company tabard. Where can you find the stray?: Anywhere, really. She's like a penguin; able to survive harsh climates and a decent swimmer. Most likely bet is within Limsa Lominsa, Rhotano Sea, Mists, and the general Vylbrand area. As for airships... well. She's not the best airline passenger. Wait, when you say "statistics"...: Oh yes. Type I/II Errors, data analysis, descriptive statistics, multivariate statistics, big data, ANOVA, and t-test to name a few. Can even through in operations research techniques too, such as nonlinear/linear/integer programming and Simplex method. I have plenty of material to work with there. Schedule: Primarily evenings throughout the week, and sometimes by appointment. Comments: Generally, I'm trying to figure out whether or not people like this type of character in their RP setting, because I never tried this as an IC role. From what I hear, it's about a rare as a straight female Roegaedyn who is not secretly/openly a futa.
  8. I still wonder why housing isn't limited to one per server rather than one per character. Maybe it would alleviate a lot of problems? Not really sure.
  9. By taking a trip through Colorado the week its released. Also just chilling because i got above i230 right now, so not really bothering with content.
  10. I'll bite. Leggerless Hanzou (who plays as Kojin Kha ICly) in-game. Go by CST hours in the evenings/early nights. I have many ways of acquiring hooks, whether it be through exquisite displays of cakes or beating other people up.
  11. There are a few instances where I'll start caring when playing as a tank. 1. The rate that I'm dying at is slower than the rate you can kill them at if you combined your healer dps in Cleric Stance with everyone else. 2. You're sitting there and overhealing me the moment I take 2 trash mob hits. Every time. Then you wait and repeat. 3. You have a lot of mana and are still keeping me topped off on health. 4. Raiding. 5. PvP. There's also the argument where you're not using most of your abilities as a healer. It'd be like a tank who uses no defensive cooldowns or the DPS who refuses to follow a rotation made painstakingly by Samuel L. Jackson. I could see a thread covering a very similar topic on both tanks and DPS and you'd get mostly the same types of responses seen here. One example? Look at the people pulling 300 dps by using their skills... while others pull 400 dps by spamming a single skill instead. My opinion though? Sure, you can play a healer how you want. The moment you prove really incompetent though? That's when you'll receive a stern talkin' to.
  12. No one? Unless they're in Kansas or the very west side of Missouri, it's unlikely I'll meet any without doing air travel I may get lucky one day with a media pass to an eSport event or a Con though. Don't know yet; that's very much up in the air.
  13. Oddyssey, Oddworld, Take 'n Make, Nick and Rick, Sea Odders, about 15 other things with (insert adjective) Odders because Otters are a thing in Gridania, Oddities, Oddball, Holt the Odd, Goddly Incorporated, Godds Corps, Jack and Smack, Jack in the Box, Garry's Odd, Odd Jobs, East State Trading, Proddability (for a scientist/researcher group), Holtz Hogan, Round in Bout, Odd Shoppe, Dollaroo... Alright, yea, I'm running out of ideas...
  14. If you're ever at a lull for RP, consider CAKE sometime. I tried it yesterday and managed a few stranglers watching me and even randomly joining in. Note: 60% of the time, it works 100% of the time. Now for the more serious stuff: There's plenty of RP on Balmung. So much in fact, that people often filter out some incoming RP by going to their own houses rather than lying around the QS. Stick around at the QS and you'll only get a small fraction of potential RP headed your way. If you think the Quicksand is big... well. That's the tip of the iceberg. There's also weekly events, such as the Grindstone, where upwards of 50 people on average attend to RP with each other.
  15. Got bored, so I made a Google sheet that does rolling and recording them semi-automatically (You'll have to download your own copy to make edits!). https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1D8AEW4vA_CxIDlLxIEz1neZAzDXbNGzQsVEzrcRe7gw/edit?usp=sharing Have fun, everyone Edit: I just now realized y'all were considering the option, but not asking for someone to make one. Whoops! My apologies. Carry on.
  16. In the darkest of nights, Joe the Ninja went out to collect his supplies for the mission. To ensure the package was delivered and to ward off any bandits on the road, he collected his trusty swords. After a few malms of travel, he unsheathed his weapons, only to find out they were Ishgardian Baguettes. At first, the bandits laughed... but one after another, the swift clubbing of Joe's Baquettes dispatched them easily. During a backswing to hit a nearby bandit, he killed his chocobo and was thus stranded out in the middle of the desert for a few days. Needless to say, he was past his expiration date.
  17. If the Au Ra really are Dragonborn... Oh. My. God. I would have a hayday over this and convince every single Au Ra I see to be singers, lawyers, priests, or general orators and hold sway over EVERYONE! It would be amazing and you know it.
  18. Oh, I got you there fam. In ancient and more medieval times, what was one of the best ways to improve the quality of your weapon, now available at your local blacksmith? A little process I like to call Polish on the Stone due to the magical properties found within the grindstone. Thank me later, Warren!
  19. So... I just now realized. I can actually attend this event tomorrow. Sign me up as a solo hunter, because I'm bringing Elise Wolfe in for this one.
  20. Make stuff like this on it actually. Fun times. Still figuring out stuff for competitive scene and tournaments, mostly. Play mostly tank and support classes right now. Exceptions are Mei and Pharah.
  21. Even I filled this out and my appearance here is practically once a blue moon nowadays.
  22. Obligatory motivational post for putting yourself out there.
