  1. I might be interested in this! Y'lani works with a few organizations, but at the moment, she's still desperate for some quick gil. If she's paid, she'd be willing to do (almost) anything he asked. beware of her sparse English/Eorzean skills. she couldn't write a proper sentence if her life depended on it, and speaking is also hard for her. I think it'd be a fun connection!
  2. Y'lani hasn't committed many sins, but what she has done, she views with more of a defeatist attitude. As a whole, she sees the past as a time when she was weak, and believes that now that she is stronger she cannot afford to break the laws of the divine. The laws of men? That's something different. Sins she has committed: Murder Thievery Smuggling Except she doesn't regret most of that. What she would see as a sin would be not holding a silent overnight vigil for a friend, not honoring Azeyma, wearing the bones of a creature she has not slain herself, boasting lies, etc. etc. If it's for the greater good, it's not a sin, and what most men see as sin is not her sin to repent. - y'lani's thoughts, not mine.
  3. Staying with Y'lani's theme - 4bViMQS5n34
  4. Makyn! Makyn! Welcome to the RPC! We here in the Tavern linkshell love this guy. He really is a hoot. /steals him away in a dash :cactuar:
  5. This sounds so fun! I'll try to make it next time. EDIT: sizing was being weird.
  6. If you're ever looking to try Thai food... My two recommendations (though all of it is good): Khao Pad Bai Kraprow Thai Fried Rice
  7. Pirates! If you'd ever like to roleplay with a more tribal Seeker savage-like Miqo'te, feel free to send me a message! Y'lani is fairly reserved -- but she gets along well with sorts most others find themselves disgusted by, if they can stand her occasional bouts of self-righteousness! I love all roleplay connections, be they rivals, friends, and more, so just throwing that out there. Welcome to the non-lurkers of the RPC! It's a great place to be; never be afraid to speak your mind!
  8. I'm so sorry for missing it! I thought it was Monday, and I was up visiting relatives this weekend so I didn't see the "it's today!" Glad everybody had fun, though!
  9. brush possibly? i can't picture them doing the whole "lick hand then rub on ear" thing. Heh! I have Lani do that (but that's because she's a savage). I think that Miqo'te wash like humans do, so when Lani does that, it's the equivalent of a human spitting on their hand and running it through their hair. The looks people give her are priceless. I was asking to see the perspective of others!
  10. Would a Miqo'te groom their ears and tail? And if so, how?
  11. Love this linkshell! If you're ever at a loss for roleplay connections or roleplay in general, this is a great resource to have.
  12. TeamSpeak for a mobile device costs money, but I only use Skype for my phone and it works perfect! Though if you feel like you need it and you're willing to shell out the two dollars for TeamSpeak on the mobile device, you'll have no disadvantage for raiding.
  13. Image dump! My retainer and I share a haircut! Makyn Loneseeker and I decided to "break in" to our friend's guild hall OOC. We never expected it to be so pretty! I love the atmosphere of Ul'dah. "Come on in!" Little Ala Mhigo.
  14. The heart wants what the heart wants. I believe that no matter what race your character is, they can love whoever they want to love. Are they able to be with them? That depends on the other player. Inter-racial breeding has been confirmed (or so I hear), though as far as I know we're uncertain as to whether it is frowned upon by the common Eorzean. EDIT: Sounsyy confirmed that it is mostly frowned upon. Yay Sounsyy! My character, Y'lani, would find it very odd, and only because your character is a male Miqo'te Nunh. She's so used to her own cultural norms that it makes it incredibly hard for her to see a male Miqo'te foster a love for another man, or a male Miqo'te love a different race, because male Miqo'te are rarer than female Miqo'te in the lore. This is applicable to both cultures (Seekers and Keepers). In Keeper lore, males tend to wander from "family" to "family", solely there to give women Keepers more babies across the land. Now, this is from word of mouth, so don't be surprised if I'm wrong. But male Miqo'te being rarer than females? That's a definite. Does that mean it shouldn't happen? Nope! Some characters may find it odd, but that's only more roleplay opportunity for you! It should also be noted that tribal Seeker females often stick to one partner (the Nunh) while the Nunh has many. Females would likely not get too attached to the Nunh, because the Nunh may switch out at any moment if a Tia wins in a battle for the title, but again, Miqo'te can certainly feel love. They're related to the races of man, after all, and they can have an Eternal Bond ceremony like any other race. I haven't read it, but there's a Polyamory Guide somewhere on the RPC that may be helpful to you, depending. I personally enjoy the Miqo'te lore (it's logical, but in human society, it messes with our ethics) while others tend to find it controversial, or uncomfortable. Whether you feel this way is completely your own personal opinion. Again, I'm on my phone... so I apologize in advance for my scattered responses! EDIT: darn, I'm so slow, only typing 30 words per minute on my phone! Anyway, what Sounsyy said is totally right. I suppose I'll keep this here anyway.
  15. For some reason all I can see is the Seeker equivalent of the old traveling Wild West shows. M: "Looks like it's down 'ta you and me, purrtner." U: "Not a chance, buddy. I am 'tha real Nunh, and I'll damn well prove it." *pistols flinging, bang bang, the ship shakes from their uunnatural force!* M: "Face it. 'Yer down on the dock. Boys! Take him to the poopdeck!" U: *overexaggerated gasping* "No. No! 'Ya can't do this to me! The ladies prefer a real man, not scum like you!" M: *holding ladies in skimpy clothing that randomly step onto the bridge from the Captain's cabin* "Look at these beauties. 'Ya jealous, wannabe Nunh?" U: "Nooo! I deserve better!" *sudden choking* *unrealistic splash in the water*
  16. That sounds like a plan! I can throw a few more ideas at you, if you're not too happy with that - He could be one of the few remaining members of a splinter tribe ravaged by the Calamity, and thus, kept the title of Nunh to remind himself of what he had lost. As such, I would believe it to be a personal matter, so depending on his personality, he could a) never bring it up b) claim the title of Nunh, but not explaining how he is a Nunh c) bring it up all the time, which may be frowned upon or d) anything else you come up with. It's your character ! He could be a part of an awesome Miqo'te sea tribe that travels the sea. This would require a bunch of effort to gather people, but darn would it be cool. You don't have to use these at all! I just like to throw possibilities around. :moogle: EDIT: uhh. ignore the brackets. my phone hates me. ;-; EDIT EDIT: I fixed the brackets!
  17. Nope, Miqo'te pirates are perfectly fine! I have one in my FC, even and I think you see a couple NPC's in game! The only issue there is that for Seekers, they'd have to leave their tribe--either temporarily/physically, or wholly/permanently--to sail the seas, especially in the case of a Nunh. But isn't a Miqo'te who leaves the tribe technically a Nunh? What with the whole leaving the tribe, start you're own kinda thing? You are only a Nunh if you gather enough female Seekers to begin a tribe. Most male Miqo'te, once they leave their tribe, either take the title of Tia (if they still feel connected to tribe life) or they take on their own title. Additionally, if you create your own tribe, it's uncommon to use one letter (ex: Y'ketiz) unless you have agreed to become a splinter of a main tribe. The lore can be a bit vague on that topic, but -- if you haven't created a splinter of a main tribe, which I imagine would need a fair notice to the other splinters/secs, it's more lore-abiding to take two letters, or even three, as not to claim to be a tribe you are not. Ex: Lu'fik Nunh, Kar'ra Nunh, or if you are playing a Tia, Tai'sato Tia (and so on). Excuse my grammar, by the way! I'm on a mobile phone. It is also perfectly okay to lie about being a Nunh in roleplay, to make your character appear strong, but in reality they're not a part of a tribe at all. I advise this only if your character has a questionable alignment and/or traits, and he is not truly a Nunh. Examples of male Seeker Miqo'te who prefer to take their own titles: I'karin Junpo, Kan Pathseeker, T'lavi Dasher. Tribal letter is optional, because that depends on whether they do feel connected to their tribe but do not want to be strung down by a rank. Some Miqo'te aren't born tribal, which is another possibility. EDIT: Ninja'd by two others! But I still hold by this, so I'll keep it here. I will say again that I am drawing only on the vague lore we've been given.
  18. For Y'lani... She gets fidgety and anxious in tight spaces. After living in a makeshift village with open land surrounding her tribe, she wasn't too acquainted with small spaces until she made her way to Ul'dah, which granted her a shock she isn't too quick to forget. Y'lani is so used to adorning herself in the bones of the animals she has slayed that she gets uncomfortable without them on her. One display of her strength and tribal bonds, gone; the very thought of it makes her want to wrap her accessories tighter around her neck and ears. The Miqo'te is covered in scratches of all kinds and has no way to explain them. She'll sometimes guess, but all she knows for sure is that they're most likely from hunting or sparring ventures. She'll sing gibberish to herself if nobody is around. Were anybody to hear her, they might assume that the language she is singing is from her tribe. Oddly, the only language Y'lani knows is Eorzean. Her ears and nose twitch whenever she's around a large crowd of people, trying to pick out each different scent. This is especially prominent in the Grindstone. If she is unsure of somebody, she'll be quick to challenge them to a sparring match. Whether she wins or loses isn't what sways her opinion. Instead, she will deliberately feint attacks and mess with them to test their reactions. Despite having a brash nature in social situations, she has a habit of planning out "everything that matters". This can range from when she should feed her chocobo to how she should carry out a fight against an overwhelming opponent. She tends to repeat things. "I wanted to pay tribute, pay tribute to him."
  19. If you want to talk about the restrictions of Balmung, whether it's asking what are the best ways to approach it, confiding in others because it's fairly difficult to get in, or just talking about it, post here instead of here! Why make this thread? It ensures that new players are not discouraged when they see somebody posting in the "Balmung is open!" thread only to see that Balmung is not open. Feel free to discuss!
  20. This. I've learned! Also, from what I've seen, maintenance is the best time to get in. Transferring is also a good way to get in if you don't want to waste your game time. Trust me, I waited ten days, every morning, trying to get into Balmung before the maintenance finally swooped down. It's exhausting, not good for your health, and in the end it wasn't worth it because the server continued not to open in the mornings despite the waiting. Getting in, on the other hand, is very worth it. Balmung is a great server. EDIT: I've made this thread if you're here to talk about Balmung restrictions, and not here to say that Balmung is open. I most definitely recommend posting there instead of here as not to defeat this thread's purpose!
  21. I like to invade the houses of other people! they don't mind. usually.
  22. Welcome to Balmung! I remember saying I was here without having a character on the server - it helped me continue to want to be on Balmung. The best time to make a character here is right before/after maintenance. As for Miqo'te connections... My character, Y'lani, is fairly tribal and still continues to visit her tribe while she lives in Ul'dah to train at the Pugilists Guild. She is the type to feel pity for Miqo'te who have lost or ran away from their tribes, because she adores hers. Her tribe is a sector of the Jaguar tribe, located in Southern Thanalan. I like to think it puts a great weight on fighting and breeding, so most bad omens would come from anything that interferes with thise two things. (Just an example of one tribal Miqo'te. There are many more out there, I promise! You'll find a lot in roleplay situations.) I'm completely willing to offer Y'lani for any roleplay connections, should you ever be interested. Good luck on Balmung, and creating your character! I always think that's the most fun part of a game.
  23. Two images I'm a bit proud of, one edited and another not: also, scary, scary bloopers.
