  1. Rhostel's Chocobo is named Sear. He's still around.
  2. More like Jobs are the only way to be specialised enough for serious group content. You're usually better served going with regular Classes for soloing and simple group content (like FATEs) since you can be more self-sufficient and round out the weaknesses of you current class with abilities from others. For example, taking a variety of damage enhancers as a Gladiator from the other Disciple of War Classes. You'll still be doing less damage than pretty much anyone else might, but it'll be enough that a Gladiator's resilience will get you through. Nobody can say what will best for PvP at this point.
  3. Those are some fantastic colour choices. :bouncy:
  4. Levelling extra classes doesn't take away anything, if that's what you're thinking. If you get every class to 50, you can use all the cross-class abilities as noted for whatever your current class is. And no. Gladiator isn't so restricted. However, it's not great for anything else.
  5. Hiya! If you feel like you need some help, with your storyline or anything at all to do with RP and the game, really, feel free to post your questions here or in new threads in the appropriate sections of the forum. Check out the Mentor thread stickied at the top of this Welcome Desk section as well, to get some one-on-one assistance, if that's more your speed. We're a very helpful, friendly bunch!
  6. Oh, we're having an eyepatch party! Wait, where did everything go?! *crashes into ALL THE THINGS and falls over* Uhhh... hi there new person!
  7. Actually, the three city-states culturally dominant Clans are Sea Wolves in Limsa Lominsa, Dunesfolk in Ul'dah, and Wildwood in Gridania. Midlanders are the most populous because they're common everywhere, but they actually lack a defining culture. They tend to blend in with the local culture, save for traditions related to one's personal life and family, such as marriage, funerals, naming and so on. At least, that's how it looks from my observations.
  8. Microsoft can go blow themselves. I don't regret going with a 360 over a PS3 this generation, but even with their change of heart, there are craploads of issues I have with the Xbox One compared to the PS4. It's still got a mandatory Kinect being all creepy, that I don't even want any of the features of. It's still more expensive due to that Kinect being bundled with the console. It's still less powerful than the PS4. Microsoft are still unfriendly to indie developers. I already have a Vita and am pleased at the interactions it will have with the PS4, but nothing like it seems to be in the works at MS. Cloud-based, and possibly emulated, backwards compatibility is better than none at all. I do not care about multimedia features, especially ones that are useless in Australia. Having them and acknowledging it is fine, pushing them is terrible. The reversal also means MS are scrapping some of the cool sharing features they were planning to implement, even though Sony is doing some stuff in that direction. You still have to go online just once before you can ever use your Xbox One. That just seems petty. And I could go on. But yeah. Square Enix have been kind of amazeballs the last couple years. Well, except for complaining of Tomb Raider underperforming as one of the scapegoats for their financial difficulties on the one hand, and celebrating how it's the fastest selling game in the franchise on the other. That's been kind of a dick move.
  9. See, this is exactly why I love this place.
  10. Guess I'll get started on this. Can always edit more in later. Rhostel Evenhand
  11. OhgodsIknowhowthatis. Someday, I'll actually settle on an idea. Then maybe I'll be able to do more than sketch a handful of concepts before scrapping and starting over. :dazed: Hope to see you post more and stuff!
  12. Your avatarrrrrrr.... :moogle: Welcome to the House of Fun! Or at least the Coalition of Roleplay!
  13. Heya! I have a similar sort of tendency for retreating to the background and taking my own time, apart from everyone else. It's something I'm trying to overcome, though, because it's not so much in my nature as the pain of bad experiences still affecting me years later. Hope you find your place here. :chocobo:
  14. Reverend? What makes you a Reverend? Also, wellllcome!
  15. You've done a great job of jumping into the community. Good to see!
  16. I'm curious about this. I've heard murmurings of bad blood between servers, I think? Suppose I should just dig into the thread and start reading! Between servers as a whole? No. It's just that occasionally the RPC (or any online community of any kind, really) attracts members with a particular agenda who refuse to see that others are allowed to feel differently. It's unfortunate, but if someone can't be reasoned with, it's best to encourage them to find their own place rather than continue to fight it out.
  17. This is a totally open community, don't worry! No one here is interested in keeping people out, just keeping things fun and friendly.
  18. Not so much. An evasion tank Job branching from Pugilist could very well happen, but Monks are definitely damage dealers, not tanks. Currently, the tanks are Paladins (damage reduction focused) and Warriors (huge HP sponges). Anyway, wellllcome!
  19. I also know if you are a first born, use a BLANK'a.. 'a is first born! That's for Keepers. He's a Seeker. My suggestion: W'ainkerr
  20. Basically, you'd end up with stuff like all those stupid TF2 videos that look like drug-induced nightmares. Except it would be in the game, all around you, constantly.
  21. Just be careful about RPing as an actual member of a Job that is at all likely to be added someday. Whatever you make up about it will inevitably be contradicted in the lore and mechanics of the real Job when it's added. That's not to say 'don't do it', just try to downplay the specifics if you want to avoid headaches and heartache.
  22. As far as we know, it's universal, but we don't know everything. In particular, we don't know what will happen when the time skippers actually return. Hold off until this weekend's beta has started and we do get some solid information on that before making plans and assumptions, please. (Speculation is fine, though!)
  23. Well, since Rhostel has a traditional Highlander 'surname' (one that describes her personally) and Nahctgeim uses a pseudonym to distance herself from her father (not that she'd count anyway since of course her surname was of course simply derived from her father's given name) that just leaves my Elezen. House Boucher would have the following crest: Sable, a bend argent, a cleaver sanguine. Or in plain English, a blood-red cleaver laid along a broad silver stripe running diagonal from upper left to lower right (viewer's perspective) on a black field. Their motto would be 'The Cleanest Cut'.
