balmung The Grindstone - Saturdays at 10 PM EST (9 PM Central)
WorstRPerEver replied to YesGood's topic in Roleplay Events
Let's see if I can roll another 0 this time -
balmung [Edit] Seeking RP desperately.
WorstRPerEver replied to Anthony Valron's topic in Chronicled Connections
You seem familiar... :bouncy: -
Jad has a pet kitten named, rather aptly, Cat. He hasn't been able to come up with a name for her. Although he found Cat rather annoying when they first met, she grew on him. Her favorite food is no longer his fingers, but he's got quite a few scars on his hands left by her tiny claws and teeth.
-
Run around in a frenzied state of panic, torn between fleeing for his life and looking for the person who tried shooting him.
-
One quick question that I forgot to ask... How do we handle it if our OOC class doesn't line up with our character's IC ability? I've got Paladin/Gladiator levelled to 60, but I figure Jad would probably be something like a low-level Gladiator if I were to translate his actual skills to ingame class and level.

Getting into Balmung - Not Happening Indefinitely.
WorstRPerEver replied to Kage's topic in FFXIV Discussion
The last time I tried to make an alt on Balmung, I got an error... think it was 3079, something about no more characters are able to be created on the server. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but I think it hints that we've hit the "hard-coded" cap for characters on a server. -
It'd probably be a strange meeting... I'm extremely quiet and introverted IRL, Jad is talkative and outgoing. We'd probably wind up baking cookies together while I listened to him talk about Eorzea.

Does your Character aspire to be a Hero?
WorstRPerEver replied to -no longer matters-'s topic in RP Discussion
Jad wants to be a hero. It's one of his greatest ambitions. The problem is, he has no idea how to become a hero, and his idea of what heroism is comes from tall tales. -
I think I had too much fun writing this... Quest: Out of the Bag Trial: Manhunt - Light Party (1 tank, 1 healer, 2 damage) Wanted by the Brass Blades: Jadoth Bloodreign - thief, fugitive, self-proclaimed hero, suspected leader of a bandit ring. Target is considered armed and dangerous. Use any nonlethal means necessary to subdue him. Keep him alive for questioning; we have no use for a corpse. Abilities Heroic Strike: Deals a large amount of physical damage in a semicircle in front of him. Cut and Run: Deals a small amount of physical damage to current target, then dashes to a random target and deals a large amount of physical damage. Mercy (Passive): Jadoth will not directly attack any party member who is below 5% health. Cannot be active while Righteous Fury is active. Phase 2 (85% HP) Upon entering Phase 2, Cat joins the battle. She is a low-HP, high-damage add that will fixate on a random party member, focusing her attacks on them for 5-second intervals before moving to a different party member. Righteous Fury (Passive): Jadoth enrages, gaining 20% additional damage dealt every 5 seconds. This effect stacks and cannot be active while Mercy is active. Only triggers upon the death of Cat. Pounce: Cat leaps onto a random party member and stuns them for 4 seconds. Pounce, Part II: Jadoth charges towards the party member targetted by Pounce and deals a large amount of physical damage in a 10-yalm radius. Phase 3 (40% HP) The Littlest Huntress (Passive): Cat will now target the party member with the lowest current health when she changes targets. Deflect: Jadoth reflects the next harmful ability that would affect him towards the person who used it. Go for the Eyes!: Cat inflicts a damage-over-time effect on her current target with a duration of 16 seconds. Quotes Aggro: "It was the Brass Blades who sent you, right?" Phase 2 transition: "Cat, no! Get out of here!" Phase 3 transition: "It doesn't have to be this way! I don't want to fight you!" Upon defeating a player: "I'm sorry!" Upon defeat, if Cat is alive: "Is this how it's going to end? Don't let them hurt her..." Upon defeat, if Cat is defeated: "No... not like this..." If Cat is defeated: "To hurt something smaller and weaker than yourself is nothing short of unforgivable!" Upon defeating a player while under the effects of Righteous Fury: "That was for Cat!" Cutscenes Success, if Cat is alive: Some Brass Blades arrive to arrest Jadoth. Cat scurries away, vanishing into the shadows for parts unknown. Success, if Cat is defeated: Some Brass Blades arrive to arrest Jadoth, who struggles and reaches towards Cat as he's dragged away. Failure, if Cat is alive: Jadoth grabs Cat and they escape by climbing onto a rooftop and running away. Failure, if Cat is defeated: Jadoth advances towards your kneeling character and raises his sword as the screen fades to black... Bonus Achievement The Cat's Meow: Defeat Cat, then defeat Jadoth while he has at least 5 stacks of Righteous Fury.

balmung The Grindstone - Saturdays at 10 PM EST (9 PM Central)
WorstRPerEver replied to YesGood's topic in Roleplay Events
This was the most fun I've had on an online game in a while... thanks for the awesome RP, everyone! -
You remember that lady, don't you? The one who led that adventure a few weeks back? What do you think of her? That question I asked was kinda rude, I guess. I was curious, and a little worried, but maybe I should've waited until the room wasn't so crowded to ask it. People judge each other for what they used to do and where they came from. I bet people would judge me, too, if they knew what I'm not telling them. No one would trust me, no one would want me working for them. So I hide it. I lie, or I just don't tell the whole truth. What they don't know won't hurt them. Maybe she's trying to do that. Hide the truth and become a new person. I can't really blame her. If I did, it'd make me a hippogryph. ...That's the wrong word, isn't it?

I have "Walkup friendly" in my search info. For me, a lot of my hesitation is due to shyness. Usually I'll have an emote readied, but I'm paralyzed by worry that I'll mess something up or something will happen and my prepared emote will wind up irrelevant. By the time I gather up the courage to actually post anything, the person has usually already moved on. <.<

I'm trying to come up with a Raen surname that has something to do with songs/singing. Ideally, something about the sun or fire could be included, but after mashing some words through Google Translate, I've come to the conclusion that the result would be kind of clunky. So far all my research has gotten me is that it's going to have "uta" (which means song or poem, if Google is correct) somewhere in there.

I don't get it, Cat. It doesn't make sense. I thought he'd stab me, or turn me in. Or at the very least, take his money back and continue on his way. I didn't think he'd leave me a couple gil. Why'd he do it? Why'd she do it, too? Is money really that unimportant to richer folk, that they're willing to part with it in exchange for boring stories, or outright give it to people like me? I could've avoided all this, if I hadn't given my day's wages to the Xaela the other night. But she needed it. She was like me when I first arrived in Ul'dah, alone, broke, no one to turn to or talk to, no one to trust. I couldn't just leave her like that. It was kinda dumb of me, maybe a little, to give her the money that was supposed to keep you and me fed, but what's done is done and I regret doing it. At least, I don't think I regret it. Is that why they helped me? They didn't want to leave me the way I was? I dunno if they expect me to pay them back in some way. They didn't say I had to, but it doesn't stop me from paying them back, right?

Not necessarily wrong IMO, I had to angle the camera funny to get as many people in the picture as possible. There were lots (and I may or may not have accidentally messed up my camera angle and couldn't figure out how to fix it) I should show up earlier... saw lots of awesome characters and lots of names I recognized from here that I wanted to approach. Do people hang around after the event to socialize, or is it just before? -

Screenshot! I'd meant to get more than just one, but I was probably just about as nervous as my character was. I had a blast - will definitely try to be there next time! And I really should show up earlier, it seemed like people were gathering around the area more than an hour in advance. -
balmung Washing up on the Bloodshore
WorstRPerEver replied to Kurt S.'s topic in Chronicled Connections
Ahh, whoops! Didn't catch the time zone thing the first time around... I hope this doesn't make me seem stalkery or anything, but I found your thread in the character directory with your schedule. Does Fridays at 2 AM onwards still work? I've got some prior engagements on Saturday night, unfortunately >_< If Friday around 2 AM doesn't work, let me know if any time on Sunday is good! -

D: no, sleep is important! Hmm... I'm not sure what time zone you're in, but would Friday evening be better? -

He'll have his patience and his awkward curiosity! I should be around and fully available on Saturday afternoon (EST) if you'd like to meet up then. -
Questions on crime in Ul'dah and other stuff
WorstRPerEver replied to WorstRPerEver's topic in RP Discussion
That's what I had in mind! Though it wouldn't stop Jad from fearing the Brass Blades and hiding from them. Better safe than sorry, after all. Thanks for the help and such, everyone! A scene with some Blades would be awesome, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Would I need to plan how things would go? I'm unfamiliar with the RP scene here and I don't know what people expect in terms of scenes or RP. Still trying to acclimate... -
Questions on crime in Ul'dah and other stuff
WorstRPerEver replied to WorstRPerEver's topic in RP Discussion
Neat, that clears up the character origin issue I had! 8-) Sounds like the Brass Blades would be the most likely be the ones to deal with thieves in the city. Would it be too far-fetched or unbelievable for someone to be wanted by the Blades, but hiding or otherwise trying to avoid them? Basically I'm not sure how efficient or dedicated they'd be in regards to hunting down relatively unimportant criminals. Would it be the kind of thing where my character wouldn't be able to be anywhere near Ul'dah or Thanalan, or would he only get in trouble if someone recognized him? And if he did get arrested, what might happen? (I'm not good at describing what's going on in my head, sorry if my posts are confusing ._.') -
I've been trying to flesh out my character's history and profile a little more, and ran into a few things that I've been meaning to ask about... What's the law enforcement in Ul'dah/Thanalan like? I'm under the impression that the Brass Blades are sort of "in charge" of it, from what I've seen ingame. I have an idea for my character that he's wanted by the Brass Blades for something minor - like pilfering food from shops or emptying tip jars and running like hell. The thing is, I'm not too sure how crime is handled in Eorzea. I'm not sure if it's a "EVERY CRIME IS PUNISHABLE BY DEATH" kind of world, or if crime is handled in the way it was in the Middle Ages, or if it's even handled the same way that it is in modern times. How long has Little Ala Mhigo been around, and might there be any Miqo'te (Seeker, particularly) living near it? Also, how easy is it to travel between the city states? I'm not sure if a penniless errand boy like Jad would be able to use the Aetherite to teleport about or buy passage on an airship.
