Seeing as how we can't post "seeking FC" type threads under the Linkshell category without it being under someone else's LS, I wasn't sure where else to put this other than here. I'd really be interested in finding a Free Company that has a desire and appreciation for a dedicated quartermaster type character. My intent is to master everything DoL and DoH before I delve into any form of combat related skill sets. It's not that I have an issue with combat, but I've always been wired for crafting and logistics style game play. My preferred style of RP is geared towards being IC as much as humanly possible. That being said, I'd like the FC I join to have an all IC FC channel and actually utilize it far more than they do any form of OOC LS they may have set up. You know what the nice thing about beta testing in P3 is? You're getting the opportunity to be completely clueless and/or reckless before anyone else. You can get your "Ops" moments out of the way now because nobody really cares how many times you die. Nor are they going to think you're an idiot for charging a mob 4x your size. This is kind of that time you want to take on those "Oh my god, did he really just do that?" moments with quests and figure out some crazy insane way of winning nobody would have dreamed of with gear that wasn't slated for a beta wipe. P4 is really our head start ahead of head start and is the point in time we should start taking the things we do and making it part of our character's history. You might surprise yourself with what you can do when you don't really care and actually have it work out.

There's suppose to be a poll posted here on July 1st for those not interested in joining a legacy server to decide which server will be the alternative choice from Balmung. So the short answer is, one hasn't been chosen on yet.

This has turned into something akin to a Senate debate. Legacy server supporters on the left, majority supported non-legacy server supporters on the right, independents and small pockets of other random server selections down the middle. Maybe we should be calling this website the HRC-SPAN channel.

Very interesting start to a back story. I'd also be interested in seeing how this plays out. It's not surprising the oppressed or downtrodden usually come out as the most talented at their chosen art because they tend to be much more humble about it than someone who's in it for the power craze. Has anyone considered the idea of starting a petition to have Balmung announced as the official server and sending it into SE after anyone who's interested in signing it has done so?

Welcome Elkabong! I really hope you get the feeling this community is anything but intimidating. Admittedly, there is a lot of information flowing through this board at all hours of the day and night and trying to keep up can sometimes be a bit overwhelming at first. But once you dig into it, I personally believe it'll keep you hooked. As far as lore is concerned, I would recommend looking at [this website] which contains a very large collection of storyline cutscenes from the 1.0 to 1.23b era. I can fully understand your frustration with connection issues and the excitement of being able to play again. Try playing an MMO in the middle of Iraq with passing up-armored vehicles constantly scrambling your wireless signal that was already slower than a 28.8k baud rate modem to begin with. Even the slowest possible cable connection back home was a God-send. Welcome back to FFXIV!
