Characters:Jet'a Vann, Blue, Vincent Laucent, Chiara Foschiani, Dylise Rontremont, Kujh'a Lihzeh, Clive Stark, Valeria Idavoll Primary character:Jet'a Vann and Blue. Will play either depending on situations. Linkshells: Tales of Hydaelyn (IC stage linkpearl), Blue Pearl (OOC) Primary RP linkshell:Tales Of Hydaelyn. II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium/Heavy Views on RP combat and injuries: Combat is RP combat to me. The consequences of a battle will be determined with a roll after the battle ends. If a character's HP drops to 0, the character owner will be free to decide whether to die or fall unconscious. If they don't die, the wounds from the KO should be determined by a dice roll, as well as the wounds of the winner (if the winner wins in critical conditions). White magic should be able to heal any wound that didn't imply the loss of limbs (that goes for eyes too), unless the character's owner decides otherwise. Raise spell can revive from death, but I think it should leave a scar where the character was struck. I do not consider HPing revivification unless the game provides me a good lore excuse for it: as of now, I consider HPing as a non-death, where your character passed out on the spot and his aether returned to the aetheryte the character is most attuned to, or was carried in town by an unknown stranger who then left him there. Views on IC romance: I am open to romance for characters who don't have it planned out yet. However, I am too shy to RP intimate physical contact in general in front of other people, and ERP is a no-no even in private, though I am fine with "it happened" kinds of time skips. I also prefer to save romance RP with players I've been knowing ICly and OOCly for a while, rather than strangers that could reveal some bad surprise in terms of behavior in these circumstances. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I mainly RP my characters' family as NPCs, however I will not reject other RPers requests to somehow have family bounds to my own if they first contact me OOC and show me what they have in mind and how well it would fit my and their history background. Views on lore: I like to follow the game lore, but respect those who wish to blend it and make up new stuff, as sometimes, however little, I do too. However, I will not accept things that I feel to be far beyond the world we RP in, and if I'll happen to stumble on such a situation, I'll just find an IC excuse and walk away. That however doesn't mean that every time I'll walk away from you it means I'm disagreeing with your RP style. Ask me via tells OOCly if you have doubts, and I'll reply as politely as I can. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I prefer to keep party chat for OOC talk, to organize actions and stuff. Tells are also an OOC tool I like, however can be used to RP whispers if there were the occurrences to do so. I do not like to RP tells as telepathy tool across the lands. Linkshell can be used ICly, as well as shouts, however I'd try to use it sparely in a world with non-RPing players. Haters will hate. My main RP channel will likely be /say. I use the Tales of Hydaleyn linkshell with my friends to RP things that I do not wish to share with the public, mostly story-related IC comments, as all my characters do RP the game story as taking place around them and every other adventurer who may wish so. III. Other Info Country:Italy Timezone:GMT+1/+2 depending on solar hour. Contact info: my outlook mail is [email protected], but you can also PM me here or contact in game as one of said characters. I'm.. a little confused on why does your race and gender cause harassment, or if it's something else causing it (RPing for example, this has happened to me before), but I'm not going to push for details. /blacklist is the first thing you've got to do. And if he starts harassing you with mules, just call a GM. Character harassment is against the Agreement and he'll get sent straight to Mordion Gaol for that. Don't worry about your appearance possibly giving him a clue of your identity on FFXIV. Even with all the new character creator features, these games involve thousands of players, and if there's any chance he'd recognize you in XIV, that would be more likely by the name rather than the appearance, especially if you model your character based on your XI appearance (which are pretty 'flat' characters compared to the new ones you can make (like, hume with pink&black hair and so on). There will be others that will look like you, and the chances that you'd happen on the same server and that he'd recognize you just by the look.. That's super odd and unlikely to happen. If it happens, /blacklist again and, as it's been suggested, move on. If in the meantime before ARR you're still bored and want to give FFXI a try, AND if roleplaying is the reason of the harassment, then you're probably in the wrong group or world. FFXI players nowadays are mostly focused on achievements and have little patience for roleplayers, it's a sad fact but there's solutions to happily co-exist without causing drama. For example, my FFXI LS uses the linkshell chatlog as a /say channel during RP, so that the non-roleplayers, out of our linkshell, cannot see the text (and also, it allows you to watch as a spectator if you want to just sit and look at others RPing in a whole different game region). If you like to roleplay and are missing roleplaying fellows, you're welcome to join us on Siren! Whatever your reasons and decisions will be, never let others change who you are. Don't change what you do or how you do it because of someone's pressure, and don't let it upset you. Shrug it off and keep on walking. Always forgive your enemy: it's what they hate the most.

Well thankfully we can already do that^^ And I'm pretty excited about it too (I think it was the original reason for me to want to play this game at all)... Here you can write anything you think you'd like to see added for a funnier RP. Call it a pipe dream list? It's okay to write things that are beyond SE's possibilities or unlikely to be added because of the game system, but keep it within the game's universe (so not things like... 'I wish I could camel birthgiving through my mouth'..!) Something I would really love would be FFXII-style airship/train/ship travels. In Final Fantasy XII (George Lucas's favorite Final Fantasy), when riding an airship between cities you wouldn't have a limited time aboard like you do in FFXI. You could choose between fast ride (which is what we'll get in XIV from what the Producer's Letter seems to hint), or a cruise ride, in which you'd get a board and the ride wouldn't end until you'd click on the airship's cabin and select "sleep till land to destination". Considering that we have things like instances, I wouldn't mind to see this kind of feature: airship instances, that just keep going till you click to go to bed or something. Thoughts?

Yes, I did suggest something similar to that. It would be really cool to add a "nature" feature to the Character Creation section, where you can pick a dominant demeanor that would affect the idle stance and other emotes (think of The Sims 3). For example, selecting a character with a Sullen nature could have him fold arms while idle, or simple nod for greeting instead of waving his hand with an excited face. A shy character would look nervous and express timidity in her stance and looks as he emotes, very small waves, and a very short laugh. And so on. I hope they give it a thought...! Could even add a psychiatrist NPC to change your 'nature' in-game after creation, much like they will put the barber NPC to change hairstyles . Another thing I would really like would be the option to lean against walls and railings. This could be done with a command rather than an emote, since I understand it would be difficult to emote to something vertical and non targetable (aka not like when sitting on a bench where you can first get on top of it). For example, they could put a lean command by holding forward movement key facing against a railing, or holding backward movement key while with your back against a wall or tree.

I would drop HP... ... The HP of who dares engage me.

Brainstorm thread, just share your thoughts. Personally, I would really love to see interactive emotes. Emotes between two players, which I think should work similarly to the trade system: the one starting the emote would select his targeted player, and the 2nd player would then get a message asking if they want to 'accept' the emote. Here's some examples that would fit: /handshake /highfive /hug /kiss (yeah, I know that's the first one you all thought about!) / slap (why not? if it's accepted...) /poke would fall in this category too if this was implemented. Opinions? More ideas? I'm curious to know!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Hopefully the servers wIll be back up soon for us to meet In game! Regarding questions, I guess my first concern would be the whole RPing system, as what few I've heard sounds a lil different from what we do on FFXI (I think Blade mentioned that you RP in /say, for example). I'm probably going to need a briefing on how the different chat channels are handled (what is used for IC, what for OOC, etc.) and the chat symbols list (do you use *...* for actions? Do you use "..." for thoughts? And so on.). Is there a section or thread I could look into for that kind of information?

Hello everyone, I'm ... well, I've been many characters throughout my experience as a roleplayer. In Final Fantasy XIV the name you'll likely see me the most as is Blue Vann or Jet'a Vann. I don't mind OOCly being referred to as Chiara, which is my real name. I'm an Italian girl and I started roleplaying on forums since when I first got my hands on a computer, around middle school. In 2006 I subscribed to Final Fantasy XI (I'm a big fan of the series, and have taught myself English by translating FFVII on my own because I was stuck... I couldn't understand that I had to crossdress to get further.), and with some Italian friends started my own RP linkshell. It died because of drama in around a year. In 2008 I met Avina (Blade Belisaire on XIV), on my same server (Siren), and decided to embark the adventure of English roleplaying. I have never quit since then, and our linkshell Tales of Vana'diel is still alive and kicking...! I immediately bought FFXIV soon as it came out, eager to see how it looked like. Unfortunately, I didn't even get a chance to be disappointed by the game on its 1.0, as I found out my computer didn't meet the requirements to run it. After over a year (I'm not economically lucky.) I managed to finally get a new computer: my XIV RPing experience can finally begin! I'm a Legacy member (thanks to Avina who wisely suggested me to subscribe for it even though I couldn't play), so I'm going to have several slots for RP characters when ARR will be up. I already have a handful of ideas, but so far got two settled down, and those are likely the ones I'll RP as the most. One is Blue, a Mi'qote young girl. That's not her real name. She doesn't remember her real name nor identity, as she seems to have lost her memory in the shipwreck that brought her to this land. [Note: I realize that the amnesia idea may be an abused cliché, but I found it to be best way to justify my lack of knowledge on Hydaelyn's lore. On my experience, to RP knowing nothing at all of the world you live in is better than studying lore on the wiki for a couple days and then act like you know as much as any Eorzean citizen.] I don't have any specific big plans for her yet. I chose a Mi'qote because I wanted to try something new (on FFXI my main is a male Hume). Her job orientation may be to musketeer IF Square Enix will be as gallant as to provide us the use of single-handed guns (not a fun of big guns, habit from Fable 2 and 3). If not, who knows? I'm also looking into Alchemist. The other is Jet'a Vann, male Mi'qote. A character born more on a whim than anything. I always wanted to RP a mithran male on FFXI, but the game won't let it happen for lore issues and our LS forbids to RP them too (undoubtedly for the best, in my opinion). On XIV I finally have the chance to fulfill my pipe dream and RP a catman (*sarcastic yay*). Again, not deep plans on him yet. He's looking for someone, and has lived far from the land in the past five years to escape from Dalamud. Job orientation so far attracts me to black mage for this character, but I'll have to test out the others OOCly first. It's probably guessed by now, but I was led here by Blade Belisaire/Avina, my FFXI RPLS leader and a dear old friend of mine. I'll start out roleplaying with him but I'm looking forward to make more friends in this wonderful world where my character can actually sit on a chair. *glares at FFXI* I however do not intend to abandon the huge plot and and RP activities I'm deep into with the FFXI Roleplaying linkshell, and as boring as it is, I do have a life. For these two reasons, I do not expect to be an heavy roleplayer for a while. What else? I'm 25, trying to get through school and possibly a job. My real life dream is to manage to move to the United States and possibly pursue my currently-suspended career of horse trainer. Oh, I also really really like to write annoyingly long introductions to bore the readers! Thanks for letting me join!^^
