Long Story (So-Far) Short: [glow=blue]~Vincent Laucent~[/glow] (Current Age: 18) Second son of a mid-high class Ishgardian family. His father was a Knight of Ishgard, but when a wound forced him to retire from the military duty, he became a chocobo merchant and moved their house in Coerthas. This drastic change made the man obsessed with raising his sons to be high ranked knights in his stead, but Vincent's allergy to the birds' feathers, along with his hopeless gentleness and general ineptitude with weapons, made it clear to him that the Fury had no plan to have his second son serve her as a stalwart guardian of Ishgard. Since then, Vincent was mostly put under the care of their mother, a strict but gentle scholar, who raised him to become a dignitary that would bring honor and pride to the Laucent's good name. Typically troubling himself for his incapacity to satisfy his father's expectations, Vincent always took his studies with the greatest seriousness and dedication, often putting aside every pleasure of his childhood to spend more time reading books and learning everything he could. His inferiority complex in regards of his father was also not helped by his brother's attitude. Tatreaubient, nine years older than Vincent, has great skills and mind for spearmanship and battle, and is an outstanding chocobo rider. However, he always showed restraint and lack of interest in becoming the first head of the family, to the point of always dodging or escaping every attempt from both of his parents to get him properly engaged with several of the fair, high-classed ladies of Ishgard that offered their interest. Vincent has deep respect and admiration for his brother, loving him dearly, but he is also forced to constantly seeing him and their father argue because of Tatreaubient's resistance to the family decisions. Vincent's efforts to get the two to pacify always end poorly for him, with his father scolding him for not being able to keep up with his brother's progress as a fighter on a side, and Tatreaubient chiding of how Vincent never seems to manage to grow a spine and choose with his own head instead of blindly complying to everything their father demands. The ultimate break up comes with the war. The Empire's strike in Eorzea came to its fullest, and every nation did its best to defend its people from their grasp; except Ishgard. When Garlemald finally begins its assaults in the lands of Coerthas, the gates of the Holy See remain closed and silent, as if Ishgard itself refused to face that reality, pretending the Garlean threat didn't exist. This seems to infuriate Tatreaubient, who finally makes good on his threats to abandon the family house and leaves to become an adventurer. This will be the last time Vincent sees his older brother. The Calamity fell upon Eorzea, wiping out part of the Shroud, and covering Coerthas in perennial snow. The small town Vincent's family lived in was destroyed, and although most of the Laucent died on the impact with Bahamut's fury, Vincent and his parents managed to first escape and get refuged in one of the nearby bastions. Vincent's father is badly injured, and on his death bed he has a talk with his son, officially bestowing him with the title of head of the family. After the loss of his father, Vincent's mother gets sick with mourn and psychological breakdown. She lives, but turns to become bedridden in a very short time. Vincent does his best to assist her and also help out the rest of the refugees, having many troubles initially, finding all his knowledge as a to-be politician pointless in the chaos that followed the Calamity. His efforts to track down his brother in an attempt to heal his mother are for naught, and so Vincent travels to Gridania, seeking the help of the Seedseer. There, he get acquainted with the Conjurers of Stillglade Fane, and quickly accepts to become an adept. He takes control of conjury in a very short time, mostly thanks to restless study and tiring dedication rather than talent, and with it, he manages to help the refugees of Coerthas, eventually managing to bring his situation to a stable point and find a new home for his mother in Gridania. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's been almost six years since the Calamity now, and Vincent has grown into a premature, but prepared Conjurer of Stillglade Fane. While he still claim to not have given up on the possibilities to find his brother alive, inside something has begun to falter in his faith. He dedicates less time searching for signs of Tatreaubient's passage, and more on assisting the people in need, with particular care for the new adventurers that enter Gridania, often targeted by the townsfolk with distrust and suspicion. Vincent does his best to fulfill his father's last wish, that he'd do as his heart tells him to, but even so, taking decisions alone is still a struggle to him, and he prefers to let his hand be led by the wisdom of the Elementals. Among the adventurers he meets Sigberta, an Highlander girl only slightly older than him, seeking information about her gone father from the Order of the Twin Adder. Unfortunately, it seems the Grand Company has dire news for her, as her father passed away in the war. This moves Vincent, and induces him into taking the girl under his wing. The two spend a good deal of time together, mostly with Vincent helping the girl defeat the general distrust of Gridanians, and offering comfort and advice whenever she'd need it. From time to time, he'd also open up to her, revealing bits about himself here and there. Another adventurer Vincent shares some interest for is Blue, an amnesic Miqo'te arrived to Gridania while following a Hyur man, Blade Belisaire. The two actually both cause Vincent some curiosity, and worry to some degree. Blue has an extraordinary talent for conjury, especially given her absolute lack of any study in the arts prior knowing him. Could she be a fallen conjurer, cursed with woodsin and amnesia by the Elementals for betraying their will? And Blade: he seems to have known Vincent's brother, though Vincent himself didn't dare to inquire about it, perhaps afraid to hear for the worst. About simultaneously to these events though, Vincent overhears of strange events taking place throughout Eorzea. Someone seems to be out to get Ishgardians who have left home for a reason or another. He decides to inquire on the subject, mostly fueled by the wish to finally hear of his brother more than anything, as Tatreaubient, more than Vincent himself, may have become one of the assassin's targets. His search around Gridania brings him to meet Kith Jakkya, and with her the other exiled of Ishgard. Vincent's life will never be the same after this encounter... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The long battle against the assassins hunting the Exiles has finally ended, leaving Vincent with more spiritual wounds than physical. Still waiting for the interrogation of the final prisoner among the Faces of Mercy, Vincent learns that a masked man who had saved him on the battlefield claims his brother's name. Driven with confusion and anger, he returns to Coerthas to hunt the man down, and is at last found by the very same individual. After a much confusing and violent exchange, the man at last removes his mask, showing himself to Vincent as the spitting image of his gone brother, but with little to no sign of aging. How is this possible? Vincent accuses Tatreaubient, questioning his absence for all these years; the older attempts to explain, though he as well seems to bear little to no understanding of what transpired exactly during the Calamity. He says that he remembers nothing between Bahamut's strike and the moment he awakened in the frozen Coerthas, as though those six cycles hadn't existed for him. He claims to believe to have been given a second chance by the Twelve themselves, brought back to life to stop the threat of the Lambs of Dalamud before they bring forth yet another Calamity. Vincent tries to convince him that that is not the case, and that Tatreaubient needs to return home with him, to see their mother, and possibly let the conjurers tend to him and help him recover from his... unstable conditions. But his older brother refuses, and after asking him about their father's death, he disappears once again in the merciless blizzard of Whitebrim.

Well... actually, that's sort of a good point. The characters, almost universally (except the Roegadyn) are ALREADY lithe and skinny. And the faces, unless you intentionally choose one that looks older or slap a beard on it, already look like they're fifteen. I mean, I had to go out of my way to make Ignacius look grown-up-but-not-middle-aged. FFXIV and, if nobody minds me being a little stereotypical, Japanese games in general make the characters look exceptionally young and lean. Your other option is... well.... Roegadyn. You'd think there'd be a middle-ground. Honestly, you could just shrink your character, go unmuscled, pick a young face and eyes, and look like a twelve year old. No female model required. I guess it kind of feels like you'd be going out of your way to use the female model. Males in this game already look a little fae and effeminate as a matter of course. It isn't like in WoW where you have a choice for men between running back and defensive linesman. I agree with you for Lalafell, Hyur and Elezen, but I think he made a mistake picking Miqo'te. Miqo'te, much like Roegadyn, has very sensible physical differences between the two genders. We can't even pick a muscle tone on them, and Miqo'te male were purposefully made with very "male" stances and poses, including how they sit, walk, run, and stand; while Miqo'te females are all around feminine, almost to an exaggerated point, in everything they do (again, on purpose. SE has always had this kind of fetish for them since FFXI). Picking Hyur, Lala or Elezen would have probably given more androgynous options, which is why I went with Elezen with my feminine-looking boy (I have actually been mistaken for a girl while playing him a couple times).
-
I guess I'm kinda late on this tip, but I figure that if you really decided to roll with a female model, a good way to suggest to others that you are a male would be to choose a name that respects the naming conventions for male Miqote's. R'ynn Tia/R'ynn Nunh for a Seeker of the Sun, or Rynn'a/Rynn'to/Rynn'li etc. for a Keeper of the Moon. That would give a good hint about your IC gender (though some may think you are an original Male Miqo'te who used a Fantasia potion, I guess). I don't mean to be a joykiller, but "Rynn Berne" would at a very first glance hint for a female of the Keeper of the Moon. Of course though, if your character was named by parents belonging to another race, the name is perfectly plausible. I am just speaking from a Miqo'te naming convention standpoint.

Okay, that sounds a little more technical, and I'm not much into software stuff. My best guess is that it has to do with your browser, but I'm really just taking guesses. Hopefully someone more practiced with html and stuff can see the thread and answer^^;

Vincent is giving obvious resistance, but I'm sure everybody knows it's only for IC reasons. He hates conflict, and even those some people may be out to assassinate him, he wouldn't find the courage to agree to take their lives. As it has been made obvious in the past few RPers, he has yet to face a certain cruel side of reality, and until he accepts that not every evil can be won with tolerance and submission, he will keep trying to nudge the group against the idea of a clash. That being said, he is all-around submissive, so even his resistance will be weak when trying to push others to not fight. I am really curious to see if he'll manage to accomplish anything at all . His older brother was the one "designed" to receive all the knight and "manly" training, receiving pretty much all of their father's attention. With his brother's disappearance also came their father's death, so Vincent has been lacking that "toughening up" most of boys receive even prior his age (And anyone is welcome to try and make up for it). He can't help but hesitate and argue hazardous decisions such as Kith's plan. As for "desired" plot twists, I'm generally open to whatever is going to happen, as I have no real personal goals with this plot. It would be cool to have some news about Vincent's brother come up at some point, but the person who RPs Tetraubient is awfully busy with college, so I don't see that happening any soon. Until then, I'll let the wind take me wherever this story goes~ -
Once you're logged in, go to the "search" bar in the main wiki page and type your name. a page will pop up telling you that there is no page for that name yet, and will offer you to make one yourself. I recommend looking into the "templates" section too to find and copy one of the existing templates offered by other RPers.

Hello. Reading your opening post I almost thought I had made this thread myself, because I've made a character just like yours. He's an eighteen boy (was seventeen when I started RPing, his birthday was in January), and I managed to get an enough sweet-faced innocent boy just well. Anyone belonging to the Ishgardian plot who has met Vincent can tell you of how he does sound and act like a young conjurer who has never fought a battle before. To choose a female model to RP a gentle boy is not necessary at all. Sure, the faces are limited and I wish there would be more, but it's your behavior that makes your IC age. Pick a male model and try out your character. Maybe ask OOCly if those you RP with have the impression he is young. Or like I do, give a general warning when you meet someone for the first time. I usually say something like this when I begin new RPs with people I've never met before: "For those that are new to my character, Vincent is only 18 and has never faced true battle before, so if I act naively or sound childish, that's why." This system has usually always worked for me. The people I RP him with always treat me as I feel my young boy should be treated (I particularly enjoy those that are annoyed at him for how scaredy and hesitant he is, I like to meet RPers that could help my character grow up), and I am very happy with this. Give male models a go! Here is a picture of his face, should you be curios of my idea of a young teenager boy.

Hello and welcome to Balmung. While one of my alts is a Garlean (well, an Ala Mhigan, but he is one of those brainwashed kids from the Garlean invasion of twenty years ago, so he is a strong supporter of Garlemald.), I don't RP on him nearly as much as to offer a stable, continuous presence for your character. However, I was just going to throw a small advice right here. If you check out the RPC wiki and select Garlemald or Ala Mhigo, along with information of those nations it should also list which characters are listed under that allegiance. Here's what I found: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Garlemald http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ala_Mhigo

Sorry it took me so long. I haven't had many chances to check the RPC of later. I've put up my attendance! -
Personal Profile Character Name: Valeria Idavoll. Gender: Female. Race: Highlander Hyur. Domestic Profile Civil Status: Resident. Place of Residence: Maelstrom barracks. Occupation: Maelstrom officer. Free Company: No one IC. (Have an OOC FC) Social Profile A red-haired girl hailing from a solitary village of hunters situated in one of the islands around Vylbrand. She is sort of a tomboy, quick to speak her mind and without much worry for what others think of her. She moved to Limsa Lominsa when she was recruited by the Maelstrom under recommendation of an anonymous Lominsan dignitary. She doesn't work hard to climb up the ranks, and that's why even after eight months of military career she is still a mere private. Some may find her lacking discipline, but whose few who have spent some time with her in the Maelstrom know that if Valeria breaks a rule or neglects an order, it's usually for the good of someone. Not too keen to show her softer side or play around, she will not turn down a chance at a friendly bickering spar or training duel. Meta Profile Valeria is an alt, and I RP a total eight characters, so I'm not online on her much. When I am though, it's solely to RP. If you wish to meet her and can't see her online, look up for any of the names in my signature. I'm almost always online on one of them (Even when I sleep ...) and will usually switch over if requested, provided that I'm not already RPing with someone else.

Man, wish this had come up sooner. I have a male Miqo'te alt who is very loose in terms of plot and doesn't have much to work on, so much that his name was picked from the random generator (Kujh'a Lihzeh). I don't feel like re-creating him because I got him the Lightning Strikes pants and I doubt I'll get another shot at it, but if SE eventually gives us that so-demanded tool to modify our in-game names, I'd gladly turn him into a Jakkya to join you!

Posted my availability. that is really one wonderful tool! Sorry it took me long, internet signal was out of my whole area for the past 24 hours. -
((I had originally begun to post this story in my own personal site, along with a link on the wiki, but seen how this site is much more commonly used, I'll make a copy here also for whoever should feel curious. I have MANY writing projects going, so forgive me if this updates slowly...:dodgy: )) ((Also, the pictures posted are only for reference and to give an idea of the environment the scene takes place in. Jet'a's family has in no ways any relation with the Coeurlclaws ^^; )) ((Use this picture should you need a reference for how the characters involved in this story look like.)) Timeframe: Fourteen years before the Calamity Chapter 1 Jet'a never was fond of the Light. His conflict with it had begun very early in his life, and although everyone in his family belonged to the clan of the Keepers of the Moon, shying the light of the sun in favor of the nocturnal shade, no one of them was able to understand why he'd hold such a scornful grudge against it, to the point he'd refuse to leave their cave before nighttime, even though the thick forest of the Black Shroud would let very little light sneak in between its leaves. And the young Miqo'te wouldn't give a hint on the matter until around his sixth winter, the age at which the fat of a toddler subsides to the first developing muscles of a child. Starting to lose his baby teeth to welcome the fangs that would've accompanied him in his adulthood, Jet'a was beginning to control the movements of his tail, developing his sense of hearing and growing familiar with the scents of the forest. His cognitive abilities were increasing, allowing him to dress and bathe by himself, understand the meaning of numbers, and learn more words. All that newness in his power to see the world around him and understand it fueled a growing need of independence in him. And with the desire to comprehend life, also came the uncontrollable boldness of speech typical of his age, enough to make him speak his mind on a whim, when the mood would strike him to share his thoughts with the Matriarch, Lukhin Vann. "The Light is arrogant." The old woman had looked up from the plants she was mincing at that, with a questioning frown. Perhaps sensing that his answer to her question hadn't satisfied her, the child had immediately shun away from her gaze, bowing his head in respect, and staring down at the wooden cup in which he was pestling a few leaves for the ointment he was helping her prepare. The Matriarch smiled, and reached out to tilt his chin up to look at her. She loved to look in his eyes: they were the same as her daughter's, of the color of ice, the element of the Lover that their clan so proudly worshiped. "Why do you think so?" She had calmly asked, letting his chin go with a tolerant tone. Her grandson looked down again, resuming his pestling. "How should I call something that will hurt you just for looking at it?" He murmured. "We live in this forest to escape the Light. Even beasts are afraid of it, and keep distance from the one emanated by our campfire. I can look up to the sky only after the Sun is gone. "The stars and the Moon don't hurt you though, isn't that so?" She chuckled as he stopped to stare at her somewhat taken aback. "The Moon belongs to Menphina, and the Sun to her sister, Azeyma. You think our protector would allow her sister to hurt us?" "But..." "Jet'a." She shook her head and put down the plants and the youth's pestle to take his hands in hers. "You are too young to hate people or things. I think what the Warden wanted to tell you is that you should not stare at her Light, and instead let it show you your path. The night welcomes the weary and protects them in their rest. Use the light of day to watch the horizon. Look as far as you can." After she went quiet, he kept staring at her, in wait, as if he didn't consider her advice complete. Receiving no further instructions, he shook his head. "Look for what?" She grinned at that, and chuckled, playfully ruffling his short hair, of the same dark blue hue of his father. "If I told you, you'd stop looking the moment you thought you found it. You'll know when the time is right." The child's frown deepened at those words. To be told to wait was something he wasn't fond to, Lukhin Vann was well aware. But she also knew that fate was something that could not be rushed. And deep inside she knew it, that boy's fate would've been something much greater than he could ever imagine. Something in him told her that. She parted her lips to speak her thoughts, but stopped instead to look in direction of the door, when the mat of woven grass hung over the aperture that connected that room to the rest of the cave was pushed away to let an older male inside. He had Jet'a's dark blue hair, and eyes of an hue that could've been black, given the scarce light inside the cavern. He glanced at Jet'a before walking up to them and kneeling, bowing his head down and staring at the floor as he spoke with his deep, calm voice. "Matriarch..." "Good evening, Ghar'to." She said softly, with a nod. "Did you come for my daughter's ointment? I'm afraid it's not ready yet... Jet'a and I had a moment of distraction." Jet'a couldn't help but look down in shame when his father tilted his head to the left to give him a scolding glance; he wanted to apologize, but he knew to speak up without being questioned in presence of the Matriarch would've only put him in a worse position. The man shook his head and looked back down. "Even in this night of new moon the Lover's blessing seems to be upon us. Jet Vann's aches aren't troubling her as much as the previous weeks, so please do not feel rushed in preparing your medicine." He said politely. "However, she is concerned... She asked that all the huntresses return to the camp at once, and the only one we couldn't manage to find nearby is Prah Vann. The other huntresses are required to stay around our camp, and I was asked to assist them. I'm afraid I'll need to assign the task to our son, with your permission." The woman tilted her head slightly, her eyebrows furrowing imperceptibly. "Was this my daughter's thought? Does she think it would be safe...? The wind is rather strange today..." "She knows he's a fast runner, and thinks Prah Vann shouldn't be too far. She left not too long ago." He explained. His tail twitched slightly on the floor. The woman turned to look at the child. "Do you feel up for the task, Jet'a? I know you want to prove yourself, but you've seen only five years of Hydaelyn. Youth is not something to be ashamed of." Jet'a jumped slightly. He didn't expect to be allowed to speak in a conversation between adults, especially one with the Matriarch. Looking at both of them, he took a moment to think before nodding. "I can do it. I know aunt Prah's scent well." "There will be no Light to guide you tonight." Said the woman, putting a certain emphasis in those words. Imposing himself to not frown at her, Jet'a shook his head. "I don't need any guidance." He dared a glance at the Matriarch, and was a little concerned at the hurt look on her face. She let that expression fade quickly though, and as she picked up her tools again she nodded, taking a quiet, long breath. "Very well. You may stand up and go with your father then. Please be swift." Ghar'to Lado nodded and stood up, motioning to his son to do the same. Bowing to the Matriarch, Jet'a complied and followed his father outside. "I'm sorry." "Prah Vann went west to check on the bear traps." His father ignored the apology, walking out of the cave with a fast, silent pace, forcing Jet'a almost to trot to keep up. "If you're fast enough and don't get lost, you should find her before seeing the creek. If you start to hear the noise of water flowing, give up and come back. At this late predators like to lurk near it, because it's when antelopes bring their weaning babies to drink." They proceeded in silence through the fire camp, walking past the drying hides of the last captured animals, and bowing to one of the huntresses standing in vigil watch at the entrance of the rough fence they had built around the camp. "Father... why has Mother called the huntresses back? Did something happen?" Jet'a dared to ask, looking up at the man. It was normal for him to be concerned. The past few months had put their small community through a lot of struggle. It wasn't easy to take care of a family of eight people. Originally, Jet'a had been living alone with his parents, the Matriarch, and his father's sister Jani Lado. However, about a year before, the Matriarch of another branch of the Vann family had deceased, leaving alone her daughters, Prah Vann and Vokha Vann, along with their brother Sir'a Vann, without naming her successor. The siblings had so asked to join their family, to live under an established Matriarch line. Lukhin Vann had had only one daughter, and thus Jet Vann's future appointment to Matriarch was a given. In not too long, his aunt and Sir'a Vann had announced their wish to marry, and the Matriarch had performed their ritual of union. Having created a new family Jani Lado had now the right to be a Matriarch herself, so there were premises for her and Sir'a Vann to leave and establish their own territory. That was when Jet'a's mother had discovered to be pregnant. The new couple had thus delayed their leave to help Lukhin Vann's family preserve their territory. It wasn't easy with one of the four huntresses unable to fight, especially considering the many bands of rogues in the forest, constantly attempting to claim more land. In particular, in the past there had been a few clashes between them and a band of Duskwights, but the Vann family had always managed to protect their small territory between the Goblins' Meet and the eastern rocky mountains. Since when his mother had had to stop going hunting with the others, Jet'a had often tried to persuade the Matriarch in convincing the huntresses to let him learn how to wield a weapon, so that he could be of help. But he quickly had to face the traditions of his clan. The Keepers of the Moon lived in a matriarchal society, and the Vann family was one of the stricter bloodlines in preserving the rules of such culture. The males weren't allowed to kill: among the Vann was taught the belief that every creature has a soul within its body, and that such entity is released at the moment of their death. Always according to the Vann's teachings, in the ancient times all souls could reach the Heaven, because each creature lived and died naturally, according to their Fate. However, one day came the men, and in with them came wars and merciless slaughtering. Many souls would leave their slain bodies and end up astray, too scared to find the path to the Heaven. In order to aid the creatures, Menphina had thus granted women the power to lead the souls of their victims to the Heaven. Women alone, because only who could have the power to generate new life should be granted the power to take it from others. When a man kills something, its soul is condemned to wander aimlessly forever. This, Jet'a and those before him in his bloodline were taught. His age was too young for him to argue those teachings, and so he had quickly given up on demanding to be allowed to help the huntresses. Instead, he had been entrusted with small tasks around the camp. However he could, he'd help his father work the hides of their preys to make clothes and covers. And if his uncle Sirh'a was in the right mood, he'd let him help work the wood he'd gather around the forest, but only for rough and small tools. Jet'a's favorite task for now though, provided that it was during the night, was to deliver messages within his family territory. "Your mother sees and hears things you and I cannot perceive, Jet'a." Was Ghar'to's stoic reply. "Do not question the to-be Matriarch's orders." "I'm sorry, I'm just worried." Said the child, looking out into the forest. His father turned his head to look at him, something he had rarely done as far as Jet'a could remember. And even rarer was what he did after that, when he crouched down to look at him at the same eye level, resting one hand on his head. "Then carry on her instructions without fail. Always. Because we know it's the right thing to do. If you do what she says, there will never be anything to worry about." He said quietly, staring straight in his son's eyes. "Do you understand?" Jet'a stared back at him in silence, at first still looking hesitant; though the man could see the child's expression grow more secure and confident by the minute. It wasn't easy to grow up as the only child in the family, he knew that. Jet'a had never had someone that wouldn't cast a shadow over him, someone to feel responsible for, and he feared that would've slowed down the development of the proper maturity necessary to survive in that environment. And although his son had often times proved him wrong on that, displaying an outstanding control and acumen for his age, he was thankful he would've soon had a sibling to take care of. "I know your mother and I don't tell you as often as we should, but you're really a good boy." When his son nodded, Ghar'to Lado patted his head once again and stood back up. "All right, no more loitering. Find Prah Vann, and come back with her. Remember about the river." Jet'a nodded once again, then he immediately started running through the forest.

While my main roleplaying characters are on Balmung, I've made an alt on Gilgamesh for those times my friends aren't online and I get bored. While I did notice a much smaller community on Gilgamesh compared to Balmung, it is also true that the Gilg community sets at least twice the amount of calendar events that the Balmung community does. So really, there are pros and cons for both the servers. I recommend testing out both unless you have old friends waiting for you on one of them, and then pick whichever server got you more involved.

Thanks! I really would like to draw other characters (including Erik ), but I'm still having issues with making males look like... males. T-T I'm practicing though, and will post when I feel what I've done is acceptable.

I should be able to attend today. Just send a /tell to Jet'a if you don't see me on, I might forget or mess up the time convert (I'm on GMT+2). -
Was plenty of fun! I hadn't expected my character would get so many interactions, given his broody and lonewolf attitude. Here's my screenshots:

Thanks for your interest! Yes, we are stationed on Balmung (our leader, Blade, is a Legacy player and could not move his character from there back when we started), but I assure you being Legacy or not doesn't matter, as I am not a Legacy member myself. Feel free to create a character on Balmung and give us a shot. Everyone is free to progress in the game as fast as they wish; in fact, a couple of our members have already completed the main scenario. As stated though, we have a Pacekeeper and his progress is currently paused at the lv14 quests (just before "It's Probably Pirates"). This means that the other participants whose progress is further than that point will have to consider any information past that quest to be OOC. We always write the NPC's scripts on the /ls channel for everyone to know what exactly is going on, so even those who cannot see the cutscene will know how to respond with their character to the events taking place. Personally, I like to be able to watch the cutscenes (especially because 99% of the time I am the one in charge of writing the NPC's dialogue from bubbles to LS channel ), so I made a character specifically (Blue) to RP the main scenario while keeping the same pace of the Pacekeeper. Jet'a Vann is the character I made to RP/do OOC things at higher levels without having to wait for the Pacekeeper, as his plot is completely extraneous to the main scenario. So as you can see, you are free to progress in the MSQ as fast as you want, long as you keep the information OOC and adapt your IC knowledge to our pace. I know sometimes it can be a drag to wait, but it's a really cool story, and everyone in the group wants to be a part of it, so we always want to do our best to make everyone happy with our MSQ-RP pace.

Yes, those who are "forgotten" are only those who traveled forward in time. The exception for them is that those who possess the Echo (such as Minfilia, and whoever other RPing possessing it) will remember them even if they time-jumped. I have a character who lost his brother at Cartenau (his brother was sent forward in time), but possesses the Echo, so still remembers his name and face. The rest of the family though won't, as Vincent is the only one in the family to have the Echo.

You should attend to the Ball event in Ul'dah. Events are always a good way to make new friends :bouncy:!

As I always say, the best cursing to be used in a MMORPG is the one Cid uses. Stay gibberish, stay classy.

Will ultimately attend as Jet'a. Can't wait!

Hello. While currently not super active due to our leader being on college finals, Tales of Hydaelyn is an RP LS based on quests roleplaying. You are free to follow the advice you have received, but I'll still explain to you how we work: First off, we RP on two channels. /say for open, social RP, and a specific linkshell for quests/main scenario RP. This is to respect those RPers who do not appreciate story-roleplaying. Using the linkshell as an alternate /say channel, we post there any comments related to main scenario and quests (for example, having a conversation in the Quicksand about the recent clash with Ifrit, the memorial ceremony in the three nations, etcetera). This way, other RPers out of our group will not see that we are RPing the main scenario and won't be bothered. Secondly, we have a pacekeeper. A pacekeeper is a player chosen to "sync" the main scenario events on, to decide at what point the story plot is for all participants. For example, our pacekeeper (Blade Belisaire, who is one of our leaders with me) has currently completed the Envoy mission, but has not yet visited Baderon to be asked to investigate on Sastasha. This means that the participants cannot mention having fought the primals yet (unless they are referring to 1.0 primal fights, of course), or the mention any event that has yet to occur on the Pacekeeper's quest line. Third, we do not RP the events happening to the single player. No one is the "only one chosen hero". When we roleplayed receiving the call of Hydaelyn (the goobbue fight in Lominsa, the Treants fight in Gridania, or the Gargoyle fight in Ul'dah), we interpreted all those other adventurers you see flying around the crystal of Hydaelyn to be other adventurers to have received the call (and personally I think that's the truth). So, all the participants can choose to have seen that vision, received a crystal, and possess the Echo. If, say, you were to join our group, and OOCly beforewarned that you ICly want to have received the call of Hydaelyn, then we will adjust our characters accordingly, and remember having seen you in the Hydaelyn Call vision, flying with us. Your face would at the least be familiar. Fourth and final point: "who was there?". When talking about specific events, such as fighting the first Paragon in any of the three nations, or any of the quests we have already RPed (as I said, we currently are 'paused' at the end of the lv14 quests), we try to keep vague who was there and who wasn't. This to avoid conflicts among players who could not attend a main-scenario RP scheduled session. So, I cannot claim to have been the only one to have saved the Victory from pirates. There were others helping, and my character just was too distracted with the events taking place to realize. The rest of the details are usually discussed as a group if a person needs individual information to better fit in the story. The general rule is "Everyone on the same page". Sync to the Pacekeeper's progress, keep confidentiality with NPCs even among the participants, and do not push to take the spotlight. This has always worked for the veterans of our group (some of us have been in the group since 2008, first on FFXI and then here on XIV) and kept newcomers and seniors happy alike, making no distinctions or putting anyone on a lower level on the wonderful stage that the main scenario is. Should you still be interested in RPing the main scenario, and should you like to give our group a try (as small as it may be. RPing quests is not very popular), you can visit our page and our site. You can also contact me in game if you are on Balmung. I am usually online as Jet'a Vann. The only small issue right now is that, as I said, with Blade busy on graduation our main scenario progress is on pause. We still do RP though, both on LS and in /say, so if you'd like to check us out, we'd be happy to have you!

Not too thrilled with how it came out, but here is Blue at different stages of her age. Respectively: Teen Years, Childhood, and Present Time. Present Time Blue is the one that gave me most troubles. I tried my best to fix her head and face but still didn't get what I wanted.

Ishgardians, Thank You for Helping with the Plot.
Blue replied to Knight Kat's topic in RP Discussion
Thanks for the PM. Yes, I switch to Vincent only to RP and nothing else (he is an alt; after all). I'm most commonly online as Jet'a Vann and Blue Vann, so if there is anything you want to pass on me ICly, just send me a tell on one of those characters. If I'm not afk, I'll reply and switch to Vincent so that I can attend to whatever you have in mind.
