  1. By lore, Keepers of the Moon do not make tribes. A keeper miqo'te is usually born in a small matriarchal family, with the mother being its central figure. Once a grown adult, they will live to lead a more solitary life, until they eventually find their own mate, I guess.
  2. One of my secondary characters is an Elezen, and while he stayed behind (he was too young to participate in the battle of Cartenau, or be an adventurer entirely), his older brother was brought into the future. So I'm going to RP him not remembering his brother's face or name. He is however aware of having had an older brother, and remembers his presence in the past, like words he may have said or things he may have done. He just can't come up with who he was exactly.
  3. That's fine^^ Not every member has to do the crafting guild thing. For example, I have a second character (Jet'a Vann) who is a Black Mage and isn't affiliated with it. Even, he might act against it. I'm sure whatever your job of choice will be, we can find some way to fit you in!
  4. Hey! While I'm not sure on the question regarding legacy server, I figured I'd jump in to sport the RP LS Blade and I are planning to make once launch goes, cause it seems that may be what you're looking for: in fact, we do plan to RP the battles and every general in-game events completely IC! Look for Tales of Hydaelyn in the Linkshell section, and contact Blade Belisaire when you can. I'm sure he can explain you better than I have!
  5. While I'm a Legacy member for paying the subscription fee during 1.0, I unfortunately never was able to make a character since my computer couldn't run the game, and I couldn't afford a new one (yeah yeah I only entered the registration code and paid for a game I couldn't play <.< Please insert 'you're so silly' comments here). For that reason all the chars I'll make will not bear the legacy or marks or be able to claim to have participated to the events that took place five years past. So I'm pretty much forced to go for the 'spent those five years normally', but I guess it doesn't really bother me in the end.
  6. yeah, it's what I'm thinking too. If it was a common horse monster I'd believe it, but us getting Sleipnir would lower Odin's coolness too much.
  7. Personally I do RP aging. Keep in mind that most of roleplaying doesn't last many years, so although you character ages, the difference is barely noticeable on their look, as one or two years hardly bring any change. My FFXI RP experience is now at its 5th year, about always with the same character. In this one case, his aging is more noticeable, not only in how he looks (I started with Kenjii as 23, now he's 27 years old), but also his behavior matured a lot, and went from a jerk youth to a more mature, battle-harshened rough man, still with some stubborn spurts. I'll say I never really had to 'be careful' in making my behavior fit my IC age: it all came naturally. I matured with the character, and don't feel the urge to RP him as I did five years ago. All the RP experience in my mind, all the memories I have of his IC adventures helped me keep him age psychologically, and that helps give an idea of an older man even though his avatar OOCly doesn't show any change of aging. All in all, I think the physical aging in XIV will be even easier to demonstrate thanks to the barber we'll be getting. After some years of RP, you could add some gray to your hair, which does make a lot of difference in the age one shows to me. And who knows, we could be getting the option to change scars too in the future ^ ^ Looking forward to it!
  8. One of my alts is the younger brother of a time jumper, and personally I think I'm gonna RP him having no memory of his brother. I prefer to stick to what NPCs do.
  9. When I've read the launch of playable male miqo'te and female roegadyn I was very excited for both, so much that I wanted to RP a duo formed by those races in particular! Gonna do that on secondary characters with Blade and I loooove the Roegadyn female he made after I insisted so much
  10. My turn! Thank god the NDA is finally down. Here's Jet'a: And here's Blue: And here's both! Gonna use this as my avatar for now~
  11. I can only speak for my FFXI experience here in terms of roleplaying game time. In TalesofVana'diel, what we do is 'block' time to the moment an RP scene starts, and make if flow at RL speed. For example, if an RP session is to start in Bastok at 20:00, we'll act like it's late evening, and will pretend it to be so until the scene moves on elsewhere or till a time skip is mutually agreed in the group (meaning: "Let's go to sleep, and gather back here tomorrow in the early morning"). This rule changes only when it comes to RP traveling across an area. It's unrealistic to claim you can cross La Theine Plateau in ten minutes of running. So what we do is start RPing at the time we zone in (say, 10:00), talk as if time was flowing normally untill when we zone to the next zone, (Jugner Forest in this case). Then, we'll look at the game clock and if it says it's 15:00, then that will mean five hours have passed since the end of the conversation in La Theine Plateau and the zone in Jugner Forest. It's a bit tricky at first, but considering there's NPCs reporting to have spent two months to fully explore an area (Gwynham Ironheart, for example), I think this method is legit. It makes traveling more realistic, and doesn't force us to rush scenes to keep up the game time's speed. This of course is what we do in ToV and I do not mean to say other LSs should apply to it. I feel comfortable to it and I'll likely keep this method when I'll move to RP in XIV. I'm not by no means recommending it nor imposing it, but I figured I'd share my experience as an example for who feels utterly lost on how to face this issue.
  12. cool, thanks for letting us know
  13. Heya! I didn't play the original 1.0 so I can only answer what I know that isn't covered by the NDA, specifically about greatswords. Quoting from the Letter From the Producer Live Part VI: Q6: Are you planning to implement great swords? A6: We would like to introduce great swords when we implement a new class or job that can use it. So, my best guess is that they won't be out at launch, and probably won't be for gladiator, but more likely a class that will come with an expansion (Dark Knight or something similar, much likely). Hope that helps!

Yeah, it's all good now ^^ Thanks a lot, Kylin!
  15. Good to find this thread, I have questions myself. I know Miqo'te are canonically of a tribal tradition, but do you think that term is to be taken literally? I haven't seen any 'native'-like tribal miqo'te npcs. Sure, there are rogue bands in the Shroud, but that's not specific of tribes to do (in fact there's Elezen living out there in small camps too). So I've wondered... Would miqo'te tribes live much like FFXI mithran tribes, where the 'native' aspect was rather obvious? Or would they adopt a more modern type of being a tribe? To explain better what I mean with the latter, I'll make the example of Naruto clans. They lived in city, had their own quarters in town and lived together in it, but otherwise had a normal culture and would blend with other citizens in town normally. I'd be more incline to RP that kind of tribal style rather than FFXI Mithran-style. Nothing wrong with RPing a savage, but I found the modern clan style more close to what I'm seeing other Miqo'te NPCs to be. As for the few males issue.. I seriously think that SE should give a tweak to the lore and make them not rare anymore. Mithra male has been one of the most demanded FFXI updates in years, and it's only obvious most of the from-FFXI playerbase will pick what they couldn't have there in XIV: Miqo'te male. If I were in SE, I'd just make a census on the most played races and then use that to determine which race is the dominant one in Eorzea.
  16. Awesome stuff. I think I've already found where Jet'a will have been raised in one of those Ul'dah screenshots!

    RPC Rollback

It's not a bug. It's working fine for myself and several others. So it's definitely a cookie issue. Refresh your browser a couple times. If that fails, you'll need to delete cookies for this site. I am having the same issue, though I'm not sure what 'cookies' are or how to uninstall them. But It's not a big deal I guess, it doesn't bother me that much. Was afraid my wiki content would go lost, thank you for the roll back!
  18. I voted for Blue (19), but Jet'a is 24.
  19. I'm pretty sure much earlier on YoshiP says we will be able to choose which server we want to be on, regardless of region. I believe it's just an attempt of trying to get people together who keep the same play-times, not to force people together. Okay^^; That's a great relief to me. I'm too fond to american roleplayers to start anew with another community.
  20. Regional servers? Does that mean I'll be forced into an European server because I'm in Europe? >_< Really hope I'm getting it wrong.
  21. *cough*Nevergonnahappen!*cough* From what I've read around, there were already gunblades found in the data. Also, there is the musketeer guild and SE has expressed the possibility of future release of this class. Overall, Tyonis's wish may be one of the most possible ones to be fulfilled. Back to the topic... I would really like if like NPCs, characters moved their mouth after entering a chat message in /say.
  22. Blue: Spawns right behind Blade Belisaire with a creepy soulless stare whenever a player emotes embarrassing things at him. Since this has really no static arena, it is more a FATE than anything else. Job: Orator/Musketeer HP: 10,000 Elemental Affinity: Water Absorbs Water Weak to Thunder Resistant to Fire Note: She fights with Blade Belisaire as her pet. Special Abilities: Awkward Stare - Single-target magic attack. The character is stuck in embarrassment, unable to perform any move. A Thousand Questions - Similar to 1000 Needles, but instead of damage, the character is hammered by a quick sequence of trivia questions about Final Fantasy XIV. The first wrong answer will cast the Ashamed effect on the targets (as it's an AoE), and successive wrong answers will increase the effect's level. At level 10 Ashamed, the detrimental effect turns into Amnesia, and will stay on the character until they're either KOd or visit a library for at least three in-game hours. Awwwwwwwwww - Single Target charm. Blue will look like a poor lost miqo'te and the target will be moved to help her. Blade-Pet may use the following moves at random: Hysteric Flail - He flails his great axe wildly intimating others to stay away from Blue. Fashon Advice - Blade gives Blue clothes to wear, which have random effects depending on the look: - Swimsuit: Enhances Blade's Attack. - Full cloak: Lowers Blade's Morale. - Loose pants and shirt: Staggers Blade in depression. - Underwear: Grants Blade the effect of Berserk and Haste. Passive Traits: Perma-Confusion effect. Susceptible to Silence and Distractions If Blade is defeated, Blue will use Eagle Eye Shot, with a 90% chance of instant KO on the target (whoever killed Blade), then pick up Blade and run away. Blue will stand idle and Blade will attack any male coming forth. In case it was a female to trigger the FATE, Blade may instead woo at her and then flee soon as he notices Blue is behind. If this occurs, the FATE is lost. Once someone engages Blade in fight, Blue will also start fighting. She will not approach and instead shoot. She may heal or boost Blade at random with compliments or comments, but also stagger him with weird questions. If someone engages Blue ignoring Blade, she will start to address her questions and comments to whoever is on top of her enmity list. Trading items to Blue is a good way to prevent her from performing attacks, as she'll waste a lot of time trying to figure out what the item is. 1000 Questions can be stopped with Silence, but this will double the effect of Awkward Stare. As time goes, she will take less and less damage from all forms of attacks as the players get more and more demotivated by her lack of interest in fighting... It's a battle based on speed on damage output and good work on detrimental effects. Take note that trading weapons to Blue may cause her to learn new classes. If she learns a new class she may occasionally perform that class's move on either targets or Blade (depending on the nature of the move). When too much time has passed the party will fall asleep in boredom and Blue and Blade will leave, ending the FATE.
  23. I always imagined Jet'a to be heterosexual. Coming from a matriarchal society such as the Keepers of the Moon, Jet'a grew and was educated to look at females as superior to him. He knows that he cannot carry over the tribe's name with his offspring (since both male and females do not take any part of the father's name, according to the naming conventions), and as such as little interest in mating, and any romance he'd experience would have him being very submissive to any woman he'd be with, or respectful if we want. As such he probably is too devout to the importance of women to 'dislike' them in terms of sexual orientation, but at the same time, he is too respectful of them to make the first move in a relationship. This doesn't mean he'd feel obliged to accept a female's attentions if they started to, how to say, 'hit on' him. Being the strict and focused man he is, he'd likely avoid, however as kind as possible, any interested partner that wouldn't show the seriousness to carry on a stable relationship. He isn't the one-night-time type. As for Blue... She has to figure it all out still, so I didn't vote on her behalf.
