Classroom-type Roleplaying (Now open for Instructors/Apprentices Sign ups!)
Blue replied to Blue's topic in RP Discussion
My best suggestion in order for you to essay interest is to make a doodle with the doodle wizard tool (you can see the current open doodles at the bottom of the opening pages in the "pending date" links), offering the dates you can set up classes for (with a fair advance), and see how many people sign up in the next days. When you get a general idea of what day people would like, you can announce the official date (like Osric just did) for your class. Note that not everyone does sign up in the doodles, many will just look at the thread for announced dates and just show up, so don't be discouraged if you don't see many signatures on the doodle (And it works the other way around too, people sign up in the doodle and then end up not coming ). If you feel you can no longer set up a class for real life emergencies, that is fine, just make a disclaimer announcement here so that people know ahead and don't feel lost when the day comes and nothing happens. -

It is ideally a good idea to use the guild as the "starting point", when pupils and teacher still do not know each other, so that people have no IC excuses to get lost (everyone in town would be able to direction them to the guild). After that, the teacher can choose the place for training wherever. Mine was just a suggestion though, to gather the students at a known place to then move the class elsewhere, much like IRL. Just came from watching the Lancer class and it was great! Hope to see more of these and hope they become more and more regular. okay, So if possible would anyone be interested if I scheduled a GOLDSMITH class? Crista'an will be teaching! Oh, I have a goldsmith character^^ Looking forward to this! -

While SE said they're working on a way to let us choose our standard idle pose, I think that was scheduled for 2.3, so until then, moving /cpose in your hotbar may be the best thing.

Yeah, I like Highlander's, and when I saw Roe's woman I could only think "Did they pay the rights to Auguste Rodin's family?"
-
Hehe, yeah, I agree on that one. Though my Highlander female is kind of a rough tomboy, the first /changepose on chair did well for me. This new seat looks ideal for sweeter-minded Highlanders, which is good.

Okay, the latest live letter was today, and while the content was nowhere as exciting to me as the latest patch has been, there were at least a couple things worth of note, along with the two-people chocobo mount. Here are the new sitting and standing stances that will be added on the 4th June update. Sitting (Chair) Sitting (Ground) Here goes my own personal opinion: Overall evaluation: Meh. (When will they stop taking reference from pin-up magazines for Female Miqo'te poses?) Standing Poses: Too unnatural. It feels like the designer went to look at mannequins in shops' display windows, rather than observing how real people stand when not walking. No one of the poses really looks like a stance someone would keep for a long time. Sitting (Chair): Definitely the best of the four new poses, though I am disappointed that neither Miqo'te gender still gets a sitting stance with folded arms. Maybe sitting with arms crossed is considered impolite in Miqo'te culture? Sitting (Ground): As a Miqo'te male, I say yay, finally something that isn't crouching, but unfortunately this over-formal sitting isn't fit for any of my characters. I may use it on my Miqo'te female, but her current ground sitting is ok for her already. Looking forward to see your thoughts! Does any of these look fit for your character? If yes, why? If not, why? Edit: I am having the impression people misunderstood my comments. I am purely speaking on an IC perspective, of how useful these emotes may or may not be for my own characters. I am by no means implying that they shouldn't have implemented these new poses, and I'm glad if other players will find a use for them. I'm just saying, the first round of poses had been relatively more useful for my characters, in terms of how much they matched their personality. Some others instead still don't have a pose that fits them, and I hope to see more coming in the future that may be closer to what I'm looking for.

Very likely, yes. I think it would be fair of the Sultansworn to offer this kind of trainings, sort of "advanced" classes for practiced gladiators, hmm? -

There is no limit to how many people can teach at one disciple, long as you make sure you don't schedule a class on the same day ! I am definitely looking forward to my first CNJ class, so go on ahead and post up your schedule whenever you're ready! -

Also, as a side note since many were confused by the time convertion (you still got it right though, class was supposed to start about 38 minutes ago now), I have added to the opening post a time converter link. Here is the source, if anyone wishes to bookmark it. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html -

Unfortunately Nako'li did not update his event information anywhere, and he must be afk or something, cause he isn't replying to me. I was really looking forward to the CNJ class, and I apologize to everyone if this didn't work. Hopefully next time! -

I hope Nako'li makes an official post to announce the official hour for the Conjurer's class today, but in case he doesn't, I'd recommend showing up at the hour in which it seems everyone will be able to attend (see the doodle). Also, in case someone hasn't noticed, I am keeping a sort of mini-calendar at the bottom of the Opening Post for everyone to keep an eye on the available classes and schedules without having to check the whole thread. If the instructors wish to add their classes to the official calendar on the RPC site, they are free to. I just don't have it in me to work on that as well, considering of how many mini-events this project sets up. -

Really glad to see the event went well^^ Almost makes me wish I had a character fitting for it -
Personally I just RP them being were they are, pretending each ward to be a different area of it. I usually try to stick to what lore gives us, though I think some things such as housing wards being strictly reserved to adventurers are generally disregarded by most for the sake of the community (since clearly not all roleplayers RP to be adventurers, but do RP having an FC house). This is just my 2 gil, though.

Another amazing class for lancers Kujh was a lot of fun to roleplay, I hope his rebellions were taken with enjoyment and not with annoyance. I particularly loved to get stuck with the spear in the guild's wall. When Kiht left, Luc'a gave Kujh a royal scolding, so maybe he will behave a little next time ! -
Just ten minutes ago in the middle of RP I was startled by a creepy face appearing in my screen, staring straight at me and Blade! Be careful out there, there are forces we cannot sense everywhere around us :surprise:!

RP in open world is unfortunately rare, but it's always wonderful when it does happen. A few days ago I was walking to a sanctuary instead of running, just for the hell of it, and because the weather was nice. Imagine my surprise when, among a pack of FATE-grinders on their mounts, a man stopped their chocobo to tell me to be careful and warning me against a recent strike from a band of bandits (I think he was referring to a FATE that had just ended). He left after I thanked him, and I was really happy of that little moment of realism in the open world.

Looks like another class was offered while I was asleep All right, OP is updated. -
Yes, unfortunately that seems a prerogative of tavern RP, which is why I stay away from it unless I have a planned meeting with a friend there. Public events may be better chances to meet people of all types not necessarily interested in finding an intimate relationship, so keep an eye on the calendar. Another thing you could do aside checking the thread I mentioned and follow the advice others gave, is to browse the wiki for characters you may find interesting to meet ICly, and then PM them or send them tells to set up an IC encounter. A lot of players will leave the "find me/contact me!" request when you post a LFRP thread on the forum, or on a more general level, RPers will prefer to be "clicked" (a term coming from NPCs, since you've got to find them and 'click' them to start a conversation) to start RP, rather than camping spots and waiting (Although admittedly I still do that, but it's because I quickly run out of OOC stuff to do in-game. I just tend to choose unpopular areas to camp). If what you're looking for instead is RPers for long-term relationships (and no, I'm not talking about romance), joining FCs or event-specific LSs may be the way for you. Those people are always more prone to RP together in all kinds of places, more than RPers you have no connections with.

:love:Thanks for the Pugilists' class, I enjoyed meeting some new players. Still trying to figure out my alt (Dylise), but I think there is potential for some interesting interactions with the PUG class group! The increasing attendance to these events is encouraging, too! See you all on the next class, whoo! -

Long Story (So-Far) Short: [glow=blue]~Chiara Foschiani~[/glow] (Current Age: 34) Chiara Foschiani is an aristocratic woman of the high society in Ul'dah, as well as the ex-wife of one of the most renown goldsmiths in Eorzea. The disappearance of her older daughter Sarah soon before the Calamity caused a fight between her and her husband's family, ultimately leading to divorce when he decided to leave Eorzea to escape Dalamud. Since then, she has spent all her wealth and time to train as a gladiator in the hope to fight back to find her daughter, who she believes to be still alive. A good fighter and swordmanship specialist, Chiara is an invaluable asset on the battlefield and serves as a stalwart guardian to whoever is willing to follow her on her quest. She's currently living alone with her younger daughter Jayle, and Moser, loyal butler and counselor. ~~~~ About her personality: Chiara is a quiet, collected woman, with a serious but courteous demeanor. She's viewed by her peers as the model of a perfect soldier; strictly disciplined and extremely rational, she rarely relaxes when on the job and is usually tasked with keeping her comrades on track. Though from the outside she might seem strict, rigid, and even a little mean, Chiara is not as cold and distant as she may appear. Those close to her know that there is more to her than her no-nonsense attitude; beneath her professional aura is a kind soul who understands the difficulty of carrying a heavy burden. Chiara's softer side tends to make itself known through her interactions with younger characters, and it isn't unusual to see her behaving sweetly toward her little minion airship , while in private. Very disciplined, Chiara takes her work seriously and is almost never seen “dropping formalities,” even with those who are most intimate to her. She’s not prone to public displays of affection, preferring to show her feelings through more subtle ways. She seems the personification of "tough love," demanding excellence from those she respects or considers important. Her interactions with the mini-airship can be seen as a metaphor for all of her significant personal relationships—a stern hand and demanding nature tempered with genuine and deep affection. Reticent, she doesn't speak unnecessarily or express her feelings often through words, but reveals her most of her thoughts through nonverbal communication, with trademark sharp looks and rare, subtle smiles. Her character shows a mix between a tortured woman looking for redemption she feels is unreachable, and a resigned acceptance of past mistakes and their consequences. Chiara learns from the Calamity to accept responsibilities for her actions herself, rather than placing blame or burden on another. She decides she must sacrifice her own happiness and comfort and continue to dirty her hands with blood as a gladiator in order to bring back her daughter. Despite the emotional difficulties in facing her mistakes, she learns to school herself and her emotions as personal struggles, brushing off the concern of others, always bearing grief or physical pain with a stiff upper lip.

I always use this thread to keep updated the hotspots for my characters. I find it quite useful, though I don't know if the other members are keeping it updated. :dazed:
