I'm shocked this thread is still going :dazed:.. But since I've started it in sillyness, I would like end/continue it in sillyness with a theory that I have recently come up with. Eorzean races' babies are like bed bugs. What!? Bed bugs males must pierce the female's abdomen in order to reproduce. The female does not have any orifice for reproduction purposes. So, I believe that Eorzean babies are born with special sharp teeth that they use to pierce their mothers' breasts in order to suck their first milk. Once weaned, the teeth fall. As for the pierced breasts, we do seeem to suffer lethal wounds everyday and stay unscathed and smooth-skinned for most of our life, so it is very well safe to assume they just regenerate.

New day, new tell. Balmung is open!

Bump! Server is open again!

Liked! And while we're at it, feel free to give a bump to this thread I made a loong time ago. I bump it every time I find new NPC clothes I haven't listed yet. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/110410-Town-Gear-Wishlist!

Eh, it's only when the server is open really, so they don't bother me. I'll post in this thread whenever I get a tell, since it's a clear sign servers are open for transfer/creation. I know a lot of players are still waiting!

Just gonna throw it out there that as a woman IRL, I can't see my nipples through my bra. o_o Hell, my breasts are pretty perky naturally, so the main reason I wear a bra is to make sure nothing's poking through my shirt. Well, I also am a female IRL, and I can tell you that I do notice them. I guess it's because I mostly use sport bras which aren't as thick and respect shapes better. But I digress, my question was answered and the topic was profusely explored and discussed, so I think it can end here. I am sorry if I have hurt someone's sensibility, some answers seemed to be a little passive-aggressive, or written by people who perhaps took the matter a little more seriously than the funny question it really meant to be. I did not mean to doubt people who RPd mammal pregnancy nor to say that anything that doesn't have a firm statement in the lore can be twisted in nonsense theories, and I apology if I gave that impression. I really just thought it was funny to point out the overall lack of NPCs pointing out births and related details. I'll go back to lurk in my shady corner waiting for the next interesting thread to pop. Thanks for reading and participating!

I have the impression a lot of people are taking my question as "why didn't they give us nipples?". I'm not, I know why they're not there. I just wonder if, along with the decision to not put nipples on our characters, SE didn't also think "let's support this with lore and say they don't really need nipples because they do not breast-feed their babies.". Nothing was said in this regard, as we pretty much give for granted that the races of Eorzea are mammals, but can we really? Sure, nothing was said about Eorzeans laying eggs, but nothing was said of them being mammals either (since, again, there is a lack of mention of this among the NPCs to my knowledge. I should've thought of this question for the lore panel...

There are plenty of herbs that have contraceptive effects, were used in the past and are at the basis of the pill we take today. Mae probably knows better, as she worked as an herbalist of sort, but I think it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for me to guess that such properties can also be found in common herbs used for cooking both in Real Life and Eorzea. As for lack of something depicting females as nipple-less.. the hempen camise and other bra-type of clothing leave very little to imagination, especially on some models like Miqo'te and Highlander.

Silly question, I know. I have seen plenty of pregnant roleplayers since I've started roleplaying but... The lack of nipples on my characters has induced me to think... are we completely sure we are mammals? I'm not that far into the game story (I've stopped at the end of A Realm Awoken), but I do not reckon ever meeting an NPC that mentions being/having been pregnant nor of giving birth. Sure, there are kids around, but do we have the lore to 100% affirm that they do not come from eggs or some other kind of reproduction system? And if we are mammals in-game, how do women feed their babies without nipples? EDIT: My question was answered and the topic was profusely explored and discussed, so I think it can end here. I am sorry if I have hurt someone's sensibility, some answers seemed to be a little passive-aggressive, or written by people who perhaps took the matter a little more seriously than the funny question it really meant to be. Here in Italy I always get weird looks when I say I'm a roleplayer; 99% of the population here knows "roleplay" only as the type that can occur between a couple in their bedroom... And the other 1% thinks table-tops.

Chiara is a goldsmith, but mainly specialized in clockwork (so mammets, and other minions); I guess that makes her a toy-maker by definition! Prior to moving to Limsa Lominsa to join the Maelstrom, Valeria lived in a village of monster hunters; would that count as a "creative" profession? Clive is probably the most "creative" I have. He is a brawler-for-hire. He is paid to fake fights with his customers and purposefully lose against them to make them show off in front of the crowd. He is actually an excellent fighter, but he prefers to hurt his pride and do this rather than starve and live out of the Ul'dahn walls with the other refugees. Ul'dah is full of people wishing to show off their (low) fighting skills, and a lot of incompetent gladiators have been granted admission to the Coliseum thanks to him!

Maelstrom officers, Yellowjackets, and capital R Rogues
Blue replied to Dogberry's topic in Chronicled Connections
I made a thread some time ago looking for a lominsan-based LS/RP group for my Maelstrom private, Valeria. Unfortunately the general lack of stable contacts available made me shy away from RPing her altogether >_<.... -
Elezen Name: Vincent Laucent Elezen clan: Wildwood Gender: Male Timezone: GMT/EST Looking for?: RP! Wiki: http://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Vincent_Laucent 2. Vincent sticks very faithfully to the typical Elezen lore. Son of a middle-high class family from Ishgard (And then moved in Coerthas, in a village that was wiped by the Calamity). His only "singularity" is that I RP him as a teenager that just entered adulthood. He is pure of heart and always means well, but his young age and lack of experience in the world outside of the safety of the town walls often puts him at risk. 3. RP limits... ERP is out of question, both because I am terribly shy OOCly, and also because at his age I think it is very inappropriate. He isn't a fighter, so PVE would be limited for him as well, though he wouldn't back down from helping if his conjury was needed. ======================================= Elezen Name: Dylise Rontremont Elezen clan: Duskwight Gender: Female Timezone: GMT/EST Looking for?: Anything Wiki: http://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Dylise_Rontremont Little is known ((and little is decided)) about this proud and somewhat arrogant woman. A singer on her free time, Dylise's past is filled with discrimination due to her Duskwight blood. She has made a living out in the darkness of the Black Shroud, and taken thievery-for-vanity as a hobby. Hardly nothing will strike her interest as much as a beautiful gem. 2. Dylise belongs to the typical Elezen lore, although due to her complexion, she is mistaken for a Wildwood by the less expert eyes. She avoids revealing her last name unless forced to, as that typically gives away her clan identity. 3. Again, no ERP. Shy, shy, faaar too shy.

Thunder in the Heavens [Balmung] [Concluded]

This could be a good chance for a certain wanna-be Dragoon to test his mettle... -
OPEN OPEN OPEN! Post here whenever you find the server open, let's help new friends reach our borders!

Great timing to see a poll like this! MY RP FC is putting up a play event as well! We'll definitely need help as so far there is just the three of us, so once the script is finished, prepare to see a thread about it with requests of recruitment and all!

Part-Garleans - Children of Eorzean and Garlean Parents
Blue replied to SM Nick's topic in RP Discussion
Clive Stark is son of an Highlander Ala Mighan woman and a Midlander Garlean man. His parents met before the Garlean invasion of Ala Migho, and when the Imperials came (Clive's age was 6 at the time), he was one of the few to not suffer the invasion as an horrible experience. Thanks to his father, he and his family were taken in under custody of the Garlean army, and they lived in a rather safe, although strict, environment. Clive, much like the other children of Ala Migho, was brainwashed into despising the Twelve, the beastmen and the Primals. Even today, he travels the world hunting beastmen and primals, and believes Garlemald to be in the right with its actions and methods. He'll get pretty sour when hearing Eorzean talk crap about the Empire ! As for his powers, he does not have the third eye. I've also made him unable to use magic, though that isn't necessarily a must as he's not pure-blooded. He does have the Echo though, and the Garlean army put him under several experiments because of this gift, eventually training him as a specialist in Primal hunting. -
The 2014 Starlight Ball (All Details and Updates in First Post)
Blue replied to Erik Mynhier's topic in Chronicled Events
why just one, otto? And why just woman, too. As for me~ Will likely attend as Clive Stark with his date. May dual box another character but without a date and with the chaotic chatlog that I expect it may be only detrimental to me. We'll see. -
PSA: If You Want to Romance RP, Don't Make Your Character A Minor.
Blue replied to Tiergan's topic in RP Discussion
All so very true, both for IC minors as OOC minors. A former member of our RP LS, a minor, has engaged in ERP activity (as discovered by a very awkward MT), despite him having read our LS rules which include to keep away from ERP for minor players. We did not kick him, but we had a serious talk with this person (him, me and our co-leader), in which we gave lengthy explanations of the kind of trouble he could put himself, his partner, as well as our linkshell by doing that (because, yes, if parents catch their minor kid doing this kind of stuff they have every right to look up his friends and guildies and take legal actions on its leaders, at least in my country). We made it clear to him that if he still insisted on taking part to this activities at his minor age, we did not want to be put at risk. He stayed, so I think he stopped ERPing at least until he is 18. Now, I do not know the person he ERPd with (we got his/her name to have a talk, but they never replied to our private messages, despite the civil and polite tone we used), but I got the impression this gal or guy-rping-gal was the one who nudged and pressed our minor LS member to get things going. I do not mean to judge the person himself, but I'd like to ask ERPing players to be careful and considerate of their partners' real age. Do not just assume you are ERPing with an adult just because they are consentient, because even kids are likely to agree to RP just because, "hey, we're a screen apart. It can't be bad." It can be bad if their parents find out and decide to make a big deal out of it, and you are not in the position to decide for them when their kid is ready to partake to this kind of stuff. Be careful of who you are ERPing with, and don't take it too lightly! It's the key to a civil and happy gaming experience. -
Whatever you do, do not think that the way you are RPing now is "bad" or disliked, it's the whole opposite really. I've had moments where someone's overzealous RP emotes (we're talking about four lines of text and up, at the standard chatlog size) made me want to leave or blacklist them, and discussing it with other friends it seems I am not the only one who is bothered by too long descriptions in /em. Dynamic emotes and phrasing is perfectly acceptable, makes the whole conversation with other roleplayers a little more friendly too in my opinion (I hope I won't get flamed for stating it, it has happened before). As for how to pass a writer's block, I get it every so often with all the fanfictions I write and my best advice is.. get inspired. If you find yourself unable to write it probably means the project you are on has lost its charm and it's time to move on something new. Start from scratch, take the chance to write that little something you always wanted to but never had the time do to it, and you'll find not only that your writing is back, but that spending time on it will likely also refresh the drive for your other writing projects and give you new ideas for them as well. Though, of course, this is an advice that applies mostly for actual writing stuff that you can halt and resume at will; I'm not sure it could be applied to roleplaying writer's block (I'll admit I didn't think there could be such a thing). I do know of RP character block though, and the advice for that is generally move your character in a completely different offset or try roll an alt and see how it turns out. In any case, cheer up. It's nothing bad!

I hope so too, I found the dress a bit meh and did not like teh way it took dye. We know what it should look like Yep! Exactly, I couldn't find the picture or I would've posted it myself. Thanks!

Just throwing this out there, but don't the names of these gear set sound a little off to be the actual groom/spouse clothes? I think these would be actually for the Best Man and the maid accompanying the weddings. And come on really, a spouse's dress can't be this modest. I highly expect the actual groom and spouse clothes to come with the Eternal Bond event release.

To be honest I think the last year's New Year event was a good way to welcome horses in the Eorzean lore. However, seen the different design of horse heads on the kabutos may imply that the horses we currently have (warsteeds, elemental horses, unicorns) actually belong to a different subspecies. It's just a speculation. And personally I still wish to get a normal-structured horse. I'm a horse trainer IRL and I won't deny, I've wanted horses in FF games forever. I think that until normal horses are actually offered as a mount, my character/s will use Sleipnir and pretend it's a Far Eastern horse although I still weep that it doesn't have reins. Warsteeds have reins but yeah.. horrible bone structure, and way too much of a hassle to get (I'm still at only 1 Frontlines wins <_<; ).

The amount of people online at the time doesn't affect server lockout. There's a certain time in the morning when the server opens for character creation. He should try now actually, this is usually when people get in. we've been trying for the past 3 hours , i don't want to end up with him and me making characters on a completely different server away from my FC friends who will happily help him when im offline. A good way for you to know when the server is open is when you start getting RMT tells, cause it means RMTs are making characters. And yes, the server doesn't open just because people log off. It is opened on set hours to prevent long log in queues. As for reasons to afk, personally I like to stay online even when I'm away because I like to come back and read the RP that has happened in my LS chat channel. It's like coming home to watch your favorite TV show recorded!

The hair you see on that male elezen are 2.3's Highlander male hairstyle. It means it has been extended to all other races. So yeah, we can all have it now. The "original/locked" haircuts this round are Miqo'tes. Which means 2.6 will be Lalafell's turn (I think they're the only ones left in the haircuts rotation, before they restart over). TIL there is a "haircut rotation." Either way, I'm pretty stoked. I'm hoping some of the longer hair styles work out with Ros's haircolour a lot of them tend to....not. >_>; Yep, basically the way haircuts work with each major patch (2.4, 2.5 etc) is roughly this one: - One race gets one special haircut per each gender that others cannot have; 2.1 Was Roegadyn (remember the Skrillex style? Males got the topknot), 2.2 Elezen (Braided long hair for girls, Long wavy hair for males), 2.3 Highlander (Dreadlocks for girls, Long hair for males), 2.4 Miqo'te (You see them in that picture). - All races get the "race-specific" haircut of the previous patch (So today we'll get 2.3's highlander hair extended to all races, like you saw in the picture). Of course there were special instances in which more than an hairstyle was added, but it was all on special occasions such as the launch of Aesthetician and Lightning Strikes event. EDIT: There's also some exceptions in which for graphic issues certain hairstyles were extended only to certain races. For example Miqo'te females did not get Roegadyn's Skrillex hair. Sadly I feel this will always be an issue specifically Miqo'tey. And hm, you just made me notice Midlanders are still missing in the rotation as well.
