Listening to Shovel Knight music while waiting for FFXIV to download... The music is awesome but, after seven months of not playing (and an upgrade from Win7 to Win10 that resulted in the loss of my FFXIV installation), I want to get back on FFXIV! Thank you free login campaign for making me want to come back...

I'm seriously considering coming back to FF14, and am looking for an RP FC to join. I think that, given that Tyll'a has lost his family (his sister to Carteneau and his mother to the sea), it would make sense for him to try to find a place to call home and, more importantly, a family.

Given that there's a free login campaign going on, I'm seriously considering the idea of coming back to FF14. That said, I'm going to need to find a new RP group for my character, since the one I was in kinda fell apart. Tyll'a Starr...well, the backstory that I wrote when I first made him still applies: I'd really like to find a group that does regular RP events (I'm actually in an RP guild in SWTOR that has an RP event almost every week, which I really like), and I'd like to be able to contribute to a FC/LS storyline. That said, I do have to reinstall FF14, so I probably won't be able to get on until later in the week. I'm looking forward to bringing Tyll'a out of retirement!

Thanks for the support. I am hoping that one day I'll be able to make it back to Eorzea, but it really depends on when (and if) I get the time.

It is with a sad heart that I have to say that I no longer have the time to play FFXIV. I had a lot of fun RPing with the people here and I hope to return someday. However, RL has become extremely hectic, causing me to have to make this sad decision. Until we meet again, PSDuckie

I really wish there was a way for this to have worked out, but Valen defected right before the battle of Carteneau. Feel free to PM me more information, though. Maybe I can work something out with it. This was a part of Tyll'a's backstory that I haven't really fleshed out all that much. I'll have to get working on that!

Yes. Tyll'a's sister fell at Carteneau. If it turns out that your character slew her killer, then that would make for some excellent RP sometime.

Tyll'a has also lost his family...maybe the two Miqo'te could meet up sometime? Only problem is that Tyll'a lives in Limsa, so I don't know where they would meet.

I've actually been to one of their events (back when I still played SWTOR). It was fun.

I really like doing storyline RP. I just find it a lot of fun to RP in an ongoing plot.

Of course it isn't the temporary one; my character's on Balmung! (The character in my profile is my SMN; I really need to change that.)

I agree with the other people who have already said this: create your characters on some other server (I used Siren for this) and transfer them to Balmung.

I can see Tyll'a joining that FC; it is unknown whether his mother is alive or dead (I deliberately left that plot point open to provide an RP hook) so it isn't inconceivable that he would take up adventuring in order to try to find her. I'll try to contact you in-game when I next get on!

I'm not going to beat around the bush here: I miss RPing. Ever since my guild in SWTOR fell apart, I haven't had anyone to RP with. Thus, I created Tyll'a Starr and would really like to be able to set up some RP. Here's a short description of the character I wrote before rolling him: I personally prefer storyline RP over random tavern RP, and would definitely be interested in joining an RP FC or linkshell if any are interested. Finally, although Tyll'a is my only RP character, he is not my only FFXIV charater: I have a summoner on Leviathan named Psduckie Geron, and plan on playing both him and Tyll'a. But Leviathan is in no way a good RP server, so here I am.

Considering Tyll'a is a culinarian, I'm sure he's chopped onions before. Seriously, though, I've come close to crying when one of my characters in WoW RP got killed off. Nothing close to that yet in FFXIV, though.

Not only do I not RP my main class, I don't RP my main character (he's on Leviathan, a decidedly non-RP server). My main is SMN, and my RP character will be ROG and CUL.

Well, the transfer went through. When I'm not busy with RL, I'll get back to leveling my character!

Thank you so much for this info! I'm waiting for the free transfer to happen before I transfer my RP character to Balmung, and it's really nice to know when that will actually be. And yes, I did create that character on Shiva specifically to take advantage of the free transfer. I'll let you know whether it works or not.

Well, it looks like the transfer will have to wait until SE opens up free transfers off Shiva. That should be soon, and when that happens, I'll let you know!

Update: I made my character, Tyll'a Starr, on Shiva server, and I'm planning on transferring to Balmung as soon as the three-day waiting period is up. I decided to start him as PGL since ROG isn't a possible starting class and PGL is needed for a potential NIN anyway; also, I've done the Limsa starting quests to death and haven't touched the Ul'dah ones yet. Looking forward to RPing with you!

I can confirm Balmung already has an Ethan Waber. I know Gilgamesh has a sizable community for RP, and there are smaller alternatives on Sargatanas, Siren, Faerie, and possibly others. FWIW. For the inspiration, I was actually thinking more along the lines of Karen as opposed to Ethan. Now all I need is to think up a name for the character...
