  1. Rape has less to do with gender inequality and more to do with soldiers and pirates being horny. It's also an effective tool for psychological warfare. It doesn't matter if women are equally represented in a military. It's not going to stop rape.
  2. Aether permeates -everything-. Even Garleans. Really, the idea of being 'aether resistant' or whatever and being immune to healing magic is entirely headcanon. Unless Sounsyy has some obscure piece of text from 1.0 to show me I'm an idiot.
  3. Magic isn't perfect. You can say that while your character's leg received some magical treatment, something went wrong. Like bones fusing together improperly or something.
  4. Thanks. It doesn't really help me read it, but it does help me see more of the map's beautiful details. I am curious, though. I thought the continent we are on was called Eorzea, but it looks like the script might say Aldenard. I'm a bit confused as to what some of the smaller names are. The continent we're on is Aldenard. Eorzea is a geographical region that encompasses Aldenard, Vylbrand, the Cieldales, and the other smaller islands around.
  5. As the title says, I'm looking to make some connections for my character, L'ohba. https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/L%27ohba_Tia L'ohba is a peculiar, soft-spoken Seeker of the Sun currently training at the Warmwine Sanitorium. His traditional upbringing gives him a few unique and somewhat controversial views on the world, but he does his best to appear proper and not make waves. L'ohba is usually gentle and supportive, but has a temper inherited from his father just waiting to be set off. As far as connections, I'm looking for almost anything. Friends, romantic interests, rivals, antagonists, patients, etc. There's not really any kind of scenes or stories I'm against playing, but I would prefer some kind of recurring or longterm connection. My only gripe is that my partners adhere closely to the lore. I'm find with some reasonable rule bending, but I'm not interested in any half-voidsent, or primals, or Allagan constructs. I'm available during most EU and NA hours, and have plenty of free time to roleplay. If you're interested, post here, find me in-game, or message me on discord at Rain#6639 Thanks!
  6. The Elementals of the Twelveswood don't necessarily represent how Elementals feel everywhere. And even then, there were Ala Mhigans allowed to stay in the Shroud. You can go see some at Quarrymill now. It's also worth noting that Ala Mhigo was founded by survivors of the Sixth Umbral Era floods, and thus would likely have mages in their history. They also use tattoos and talismans as magickal wards, which means they're not completely ignorant to it.
  7. Spiders under the control of Laurentius OR DID WE CONVENIENTLY FORGET that this motherfucker released "something" that coincided with the spiders showing up. Even before the spiders showed up it was considered a massacre. And as you can see by Laurentius and Yuyuhase's clothes, they had people on the inside to help.
  8. 1. The spell didn't kill Papalymo because it took all his aether. Papalymo killed himself because the spell involves invoking a primal summoning and then committing suicide before it fully manifests. 2. The Rhalgr primal had used the aether from the dead bodies and Nidhogg's Eyes. He didn't pull from ambient aether. When something dies a violent death, its aether bursts out in a violent way and creates crystals. Mass deaths are just as usable for summoning a primal as crystals are. 3. This is a primal of the Twelve, with so much faith backing it and aether from both of Nidhogg's eyes that it would be vastly more powerful than King Thordan was. It could possibly be as bad as Bahamut, given that he's also the Destroyer. 4. They didn't. Did you miss the part where they were all slaughtered? All the resistance managed was to kill some Garleans before the spiders came in.
  9. It's worth noting that Theodoric had wiped out the Fist of Rhalgr before Garlemald made their move, so they would never have actually faced each other in battle.
  10. I know there's a lot of RP that happens in Bronze Lake, but I'm curious if there's any community centered around actually working at or frequenting Warmwine on Balmung. A longterm goal of my character is to work and train as a physicker there, and if there are any characters or communities that are involved in similar things, I'd like to be a part of those rather than just doing my own thing. Has anyone seen anything like this, or been involved in it, or is the only Bronze Lake RP just people going to sit in the hot springs for events?
  11. You don't really need to explain your hair or eye colors. People have all sorts of strange colors in Eorzea, and there are techniques for changing them in the lore. As for your affinity for lightning magicks, you could just say that your character is simply more comfortable with shifting their magicks to that element. Or, you could say they've spent a lot of time in an area with a heavy lightning aspect, or possibly learned to use magic there in the first place.
  12. A lifeform can have their personal aether tilted toward one aspect or the other. The preview pages of the lore book that are floating around talk about it, and how animals use those traits for their attacks. But yeah, it hasn't really been shown to go to extremes in the spoken races.
  13. 1. Magic schools aren't really bound to any specific aspects. What determines a magickal school is how the spells are cast, and not what is cast. I don't know much about your character, but if he can utilize aether and can understand math and geometry, then he can use arcanima. 2. As you said yourself, yes, Voidsent can be pushed into other vessels. The void mages of Mhach used techniques to bind Voidsent to their wills, but those arts have been lost for a long time. Think about that when you decide if your character should be able to do such a thing. It's also worth noting, if you want to use that succubus minion as your friend, that succubi typically inhabit corpses. They also tend to take on personality traits of the corpse they've stolen. 3. Based on what we've seen from the Mhach quests, Voidsent like to use Celtic names.
  14. In the Warring Triad questline. Specifically, in the latest addition, when you chase Hydrus into the Research Facility.
  15. It might have something to do with that technology in Azys Lla that can create matter from nothing. I can imagine that in a system where all life and matter is born from a self-sustaining cycle of aether, introducing artificial matter would have some bad side effects.
  16. It sounds reasonable within the lore. Even if your character wasn't released by the Elementals willingly, there could be a number of other reasons why they recovered once the Elementals lost their hold. As long as there's precedent for a Wildling recovering, then you have all you need. Sounds like a good point for character progression too, if the reason why they were released could amount to something more important.
  17. They were already all extremely skilled in battle beforehand, but the transformations and increased powers come from them being Primals the same way Thordan VII is. They're drawing on the same summoning as him to become Primal versions of the original twelve knights. They also may be tempered, but that hasn't been totally confirmed.
  18. It is said in the early 2.0 memorial speeches by Alphinaud that Ul'dah regularly assembles armies to cut down Ifrit every time he rises. Presumably this was before the Scions. So. Maybe? Raubahn himself is way too valuable to send against Ifrit and risk tempering, so that's very, very unlikely. The Flames did used to send groups along with Echo-users from Minfilia's Path of the Twelve to fight him.
  19. Great, that gives me hope. I'll be on the lookout for both of you in-game.
  20. There really isn't anywhere near enough to reflect the frequency and amount of rain they're getting, though. I agree there isn't, but there's still a lot more than there used to be. That along with them explicitly mentioning the heavy rains as strange during 1.0 seems to say that the heavy rain in Drybone is intentional. Just another shift of the climate like we see in Coerthas, the random jungle that sprouted up in La Noscea, and the expansion of the Sagolii into Southern Thanalan.
  21. So would that would make the rain more of an amusing weather phenomenon due to programing of the game; rather than a sign of shifted weather patterns like Coerthas? In 1.0, during the fall of Dalamud, the massive amounts of rain in Thanalan was given as a huge sign as something being very wrong. The rain has just remained. There's also much, much more greenery than there was in 1.0. But is the extra greeniery just cause of improved graphics or an intentional choice cause rain? Are we talking trees or just Sade grass? Probably both. But in 1.0 while there was vegetation, it was mostly dry grass, brush, and cacti, aside from a lot of greenery in the wetlands under Horizon. Now, especially in Black Brush and Drybone, you can see a lot more vegetation where there didn't used to be any. That geyser area at Stonesthrow, the area around the dead goobbue in Drybone, a ton of greenery at the Burning Wall, and the vegetation leading to the Shroud. As was said before, Drybone was called that for a reason.
  22. So would that would make the rain more of an amusing weather phenomenon due to programing of the game; rather than a sign of shifted weather patterns like Coerthas? There's also much, much more greenery than there was in 1.0.
  23. The reason it's called Drybone is because before the Calamity, it was, well, dry as a bone. The same climate shift responsible for the jungle in Raincatcher Valley and the constant snow in Coerthas made it rain there constantly. Also the reason there's so much vegetation in Thanalan, which is supposed to be a desert.
  24. I can answer most of that. Just remember that just because something is rare doesn't mean it's impossible to make it work. Paladins are fairly rare. They're the Sultana's royal guard, but their reputation is pretty much trashed thanks to Syndicate plots. Most jobs are lost arts, so any job will be pretty rare. Some jobs, namely black mage and white mage, are actually considered illegal. So if you want to play one, you shouldn't be open about it. Physick is just like any other spell, except that it's shaped through magical geometry instead of shaping it through your mind. You don't need a fairy to cast it, and fairies would actually be rare because the method of creating them was lost with the Nymians. Though you could, in-character, justify your fairy as just being a very uniquely designed carbuncle since they're just constructs also made with geometry.
  25. I'm new to Balmung and I seem to be having a hard time making connections because of the nature of my character. He isn't an adventurer, or mercenary. He isn't shy, but also isn't particularly outgoing. I'd really like to find some other people to set up scenes with, and hopefully a few regular partners. My character is L'ohba. He's a small, feminine miqo'te boy who's run away from home to find something to give himself worth. He's very bookish and knows a lot of things that are essentially useless because he has no opportunities to properly apply them and learn through experience. Ultimately, this kills his self-esteem and gives him a negative view of all his knowledge even though he loves learning. The more complicated aspects of his character, I prefer to keep for RP. Currently he works at the Red Rain Bed & Breakfast as a host, and baker-in-training. He also enjoys frequenting the Ul'dahn markets so he can gush at the Thavnairian imports. Should give a lot of openings for interactions.
