  1. The death doesn't have to be dramatic. Just say he was allergic to peanuts, afterall... But yes, I agree with the above. I'd start clean with a new character.
  2. Thank you! I just finished another FF14 piece. This is a gift art to Vilette Laurent- my free company leader. Icly she is a baaauuus and our Knight Commander. I put it up in the first post!
  3. This was always a favorite prompt of mine. Post images that fit the following: How I see my character. How my FC sees my character. How my friends see my character. How the community sees my character. How I see Wendy. How my FC sees Wendy. How my friends see Wendy. How the community sees Wendy.
  4. I wonder if this prompt has been done before.I can't find it. So! We're going to do this new. Basically, if you had to describe your character with the traits of three existing fictional characters, who would they be and why? I've attached a handy little equation frame you can use, if you'd like. I picked these ones for Wendy. Starfire- Friendly, warm, nice, a little air headed. Jess- If you've ever met Wendy, this should speak for itself. She is out of her mind, and also sings. Lynn Minmay- Wendy is based off a macross songstress, so it seems fitting to use the first. Also she works part time at a bakery. Not exactly a chinese restaurant, but close enough.
  5. As the title suggests... I'm a turtle at this, but I do love art and playing with different coloring techniques. My groove falls in line mostly with cel shading with some gradient work. I also prefer to draw manga/anime style rather than realism. Anyway, hopefully I'll pump something else out before Stormblood!! Below is a drawing I did of my character, Wenn Dh'i ( Wendy) of WYNG. As well as another non-ff14 art that I'm sneaking in here because it's my favorite one I've done recently. EDIT: I added my most recent as well.
  6. My character, Wendy, lost her voice for a few months. It was really tough because a. Wendy is a songstress, but b.) Wendy is a chatter box. What I did was used lots of animated emotes. I do mean the in game ones. But I also added voice to my writing, so sort of describing why she is doing what she is doing for some writer transparency. I think body language is something many rpers forget can speak louder than words. Facial expressions are very handy to get messages across too.
  7. Chat scroll. When it's real, it's real. Im not intimidated by it, but I lose my mind trying to keep track of what's going on so I don't miss anything. I hate missing people's posts or making someone feel ignored. So my big worry is I missed something that could have evolved into awesome long term rp. I also worry that -I- could intereact, without realizing something is already going on, and interrupt. I hate being that person who interrupts someone else's rp, or swoops in and hijacks it. I think it's super rude. So in quick chat moving locations I may forgo interacting at all because I can't get a quick enough grasp of everything due to scroll.
  8. It seems to me that most write their own material, which I've always admired. I think it's more fitting if you're doing a kind of street musician approach. My character, Wendy, is part of a songtsress group (pop), and we usually use existing pop music and tweak the lyrics to fit an ff14 setting. Sometimes we'll do mash up songs. I think a few of our members have written their own stuff though. For some of Wendy's solo songs I've translated some of my favorite japanese songs into english and then fit the lyrics to be a singable version too- so it's semi writing my own lyrics. While the girls can play instruments, our accompaniment band is called the Primogs. I say get creative! The emotes are really what make it come alive.
  9. I laughed at work... out loud. Now I look crazy. Also... Abel and Wendy need to meet. I think the world might explode, but that's okay.
  10. Chachan's voice is exactly how pictured it! Nice pick! Here's Wendy's speaking voice: rl-ALA06oCE Wendy's singing voice: Kn7yIjVKUWM
  11. I am actually just a semi harry potter fan. I like it well enough, but the B&N event gave me an excuse to buy a robe. Honestly... I've always secretly wanted one. I got some Gryffindor quidditch swag too. *throws up gryffindor gang signs* http://assets-cloud.enjin.com/users/2602005/pics/original/3827003.jpg[/img]
  12. I went! It blew... So I had the idea to go up the kids' craft table and shout " Avada cadavra!!', to see what would happen. But the people I was with wouldn't lend me their wands. I just wanted to spice things up =D I did buy a robe though, and some Gryffindor swag. But that was pretty much it.
  13. If ICLY they don't address the change, I just pretend they've been that way the whole time and never bring it up. If it gets brough up ICly, I just go with whatever they say since it probably just impacts their personal story. I usually just make a whole new character entirely.
  14. Someone made this. https://www.facebook.com/events/1122054541208091/?ti=as
  15. 1.) Read. Understand. Read the posts of others and understand them. Don't just skim and reply shallowly. 2.) Dont tell me your characters life story randomly ICly, pls just info dump oocly if you're trying to get it out there. I can't stand out of place and forced narrative. Make what you say have good timing, otherwise speak to me about it oocly. I promise, I'll love to hear about it. 3.) Don't hook yourself into things for arbitrary reasons. Have a real reason that fits for your character and adds depth. Have a reason for the things you do. 4.) I don't erp, so don't ask. 5.) Have an OOC sense of humor. 6.) Crave story and development. I prefer to rp with people who play changing and growing characters. I write best with others who want to weave an actual story. Have passion for the story you are weaving, and share it. Talk about ideas, I love to hear story weaving ideas.
  16. THIS WAS BOMB DOT COM!! Even better because I got to watch it with Lili and geek out pre and post movie =P. Nyx is my new crush.
  17. WYNG is interested in being a performance. WYNG is a new 4 lady songstress group. They fall under pop, but they do perform ballads as well. I think people will find their music to be familiar =).
  18. We have all four members now! Yay! We are still looking for a group agent/PR manager. We are looking for someone who enjoys coordinating events, getting involved with the community, coming up with new and exciting interactive ideas and marketing for the group. They may not be on stage with the girls, but they will play a very center and critical role in this team. Even if you're newer to the community and think this kind of role would be something your character would icly be interested in, please reach out!
  19. Thanks for the show of interest, guys! I've been reaching out to the interested parties with some more information. If anyone knows someone who might have fun with this, let me know, and I can reach out to them in game too. That goes for the agent/manager position too. I would REALLY love to find someone who is good at this sort of thing.
  20. Hello! Originally, I planned to make my character a solo vocalist, who used her songs to not only entertain but aide those in battle via linkpearl ( essentially a vocalist bard). I was heavily inspired by Macross. However, the more I got to thinking about it, I wondered if it wouldn't be more fun to form a group for this. I think that it'd be a neat addition to FF14's IC culture to have something like a popular musical group. To put it simply... I'm putting together a girl band of songstresses. My idea is that the band wouldn't necessarily need to be what our characters think, eat, and breathe- as I'm sure any established character would already be very involved with their own plot lines. But, as it would be an actual IC occupation, I think it would make sense that the members actually aspire to be singers, and thus are not doing this on a whim. OOCly, I can't see this needing to be more than just a linkshell, but ICly, I'd really like for the singers to be dedicated to their art. I think it would be neat for us to get involved with the community and coordinate short performances that we could offer as entertainment for those events who are looking for volunteers. I won't drown this thread in all those details though. For now, I just want to get an interest gauge on whether there are others out there who would be interested in something like this. I'm thinking about a group of 4 being plenty- but I'd also LOVE to recruit a group manager/agent who is good with PR and event coordinating. So, are there any interested songstresses out there or people aspiring to be? What about someone who is qualified to be their agent? =)
  21. Let's go with thursday evening. This way we can pick up badges then meet, exchange info if we want to meet up again the other days. Thursday at 8pm sound good for a time?
  22. Hey guys, To help with organizing a Las Vegas fan fest meet up, let's use this separate thread for planning. We are trying to plan a meet up with the Fan Fest Facebook group too, so I Let them know we would decide here and then we will post the official time and place for them in the FB group. It sounds like wherever we pick needs to have alcohol. Since I don't drink, you guys will have to help me determine If our choice of venue has a good selection for you. My thought is we try to avoid bars, though, as we may have some younger members who can't get in, and they tend to be very loud and difficult to hear others in. So, if you would, please reply to this with the following: 1. Favored day and time for meet up. 2. Favored food and price range ( pls link suggestions) 3. How many are in your party.
