  1. I'm very much looking forward to Doma, if only to write a little more for my Doman alt. Though I am a little disapointed it wasn't Ishgard housing announced.
  2. Exciting, isn't it? Personally, I'm really looking forward to the eastern aesthetic that Othard will bring, which is of course a sharp contrast to the very western Eorzea. And with that, all the new interpretations of what we have already. We already know that Domans, or Othardians (I forget) do not worship The Twelve for example, so we get to be exposed to an entirely new religion and set of beliefs that may be entirely different from the ones we are used to. We also get to see new organisations arise, like The Brass Blades, The Crystal Braves, etc. There may be entirely new takes on FCs, pertaining to canon organisations. New roles which one can fulfil, other than "adventurer". I believe I've seen Xaela tribe FCs pop up already, but what about Doman Clans? It's certainly going to be an adventure, and I for one, cannot wait.
  3. Hello there! Rosalie was also born in Ishgard and is a sucker for romance; but she writes songs instead! It seems as though our characters might have a bit in common if you would like to set something up.
  4. Rosalie is canonically a Duskwight, but they lack that eye makeup feature that just tied her whole look together so I opted for a Wildwood model. I'd say it's more than reasonable, especially in the case of Elezen, due to the fact they look so similar.
  5. I'll throw Rosalie your way for a connection with your Elezen, she was a knight herself after all.
  6. Rosalie: Sassy know it all decides she likes stabbing things rather than books, sings about it. Seiren: Broken girl murders for a living then finds love and has a heart attack because...oh god what is this feeling? What are feelings?
  7. Forgot to put in: my Discord (the best method of contact me outside of the RPC) is Swanmay#4079!
  8. Thank you both. I will definitely take these on board. ^^
  9. So I'll preface this by saying I am sure this has been asked before and I apologise in adavance. My character Rosalie is a bard, in the sense that she plays music and performs in exchange for coin. I know this isn't a unique concept by any stretch of the imagination, but I've always loved music so I thought I might as well give it a go. My question is this; how do people tend to go about performances? Since that is something I would like to work towards. -What instruments do you use? -Do you write songs or choose songs and like them on Spotify or YouTube? -If you write songs, how do you choose backing music? -Are they songs or more poetry set to music? Any more tips, advice etc is very much appreciated. Thank you in advance everyone.
  10. Haha I know right!? Elezen seem to be few and far between in-game for some reason. But I would love to set something up! Yes! I'm in Birmingham (for now)!
  11. My main Rosalie would be more than happy to become entwined in the hunt for a muderer. She's a crack shot with a bow, and is always happy to back up her allies from behind. Outside of battle she makes her money as a bard, so she's always wandering from town to town.
  12. Woohoo for more Sharlayan characters! There are dozens of us! Dozens! Rosalie is a bard, so not your typical magey Sharlayan. But she's reasonably friendly, and has a certain appreciation for books and magical knowledge that I'm sure they could talk about.
  13. My character Rosalie would probably suit your style if you're still looking for contacts. She's a Bard (though not the job, more like the archer who sings to make money). But outside of work she's a pretty serious sort. OOC'ly I love more realistic plots and dark themes always intrigue me. I'm in GMT, but my hours are very flexible 4/7 days a week. Please feel free to poke me on here or in-game on Rosalie Belmont.
  14. Rosalie is a great shot with a bow, and a Bard to boot. I'm sure they could work together and then maybe get to know each other over their mutual interest in music.
  15. Hello all! I’d like to offer up both my characters for some RP. I don’t many contacts and I would really like to make a few even perhaps find an FC. I’m in GMT timezone, but I have Discord and can be very flexible (especialy on weekends). <3 Rosalie de Belmont Rosa was born in Sharlayan, but was adopted into Ishgardian society at a young age. It was apparent that while very intelligent, Rosalie had a knack for martial skills, and so underwent training as a knight. Her weapon of choice, however, was always a bow and she was somewhat well known for her marksmanship. After the end of the Dragonsong War, Rosalie saw no sense in staying in Ishgard. Her eldeest brother Alain encouraged her to seek out the adventures she had long wished for, and so Rosalie set forth to journey to Gridania. Along the way, she began to write and perfom music in order to earn her keep. Seiren Miura Seiren was born in Doma. As the second daughter of the Miura can, Seiren was taken away from her family at a young age and trained by her uncle in the way of the Shinobi. Once her sister became head of the clan, Seiren was entrusted to be her protector. That was until the uprising. Though Seiren herself had no part in it, she still fled to Eorzea, in order to start a new life for herself. Unfortunately her past followed her, and Seiren spends much of her time either running from it or fighting it.

    Europe?

Hello! And welcome back! I'm in GMT myself, so I know it's somewhat off-putting to find the only big RP hub of the game be a US server. But rest assured there is an extensive EU community, and Balmung (while very quiet) is an active server pretty much 24/7. The Eurpoa Linkshell always has people online. I'm in it myself, and the people are really nice. It's quiet though, which isn't a bad thing at all.
  17. Statistically, Elezen are the least played race. Female elezen are particularly rare, so you've already entered a niche there. I can't say I know where the stigma comes from, since I persoanlly think they're the most beautiful and elegant race in the game and some of the most beloved characters of the game are Elezen. I would imagine that female Highlanders and Roegadyn face the same stigma though. Perhaps because all three aren't small and cute. They're also not nearly sexualised as much as Au Ra and Miqo'te, which sadly could be a factor when speaking in relation to walk up RP. Or maybe they're just unfamiliar and less "human" than the humans with ears and the humans with horns. At the end of the day, it's your choice and you should play what is most aesthetically pleasing to you. If you enjoy the look of Elezen, then stick at it. I know quite a few RPers with Elezen; myself included. Maybe put out a looking for connections thread if you haven't already. Tumblr in particular is chock full of Elezen Rp'ers, so there's also a good place to start. I can't really say much else, I'm sorry. It's just one of those things.
  18. o/ Hello! I have a Doman alt on Balmung. Seiren Miura. Drop me a PM if you're interested. There's also a Doman themed linkshell I believe.
  19. Currently listening to this, thanks to this thread. Agreed that it's pretty entertaining, although there hasn't been very many episodes yet. I'm currently on episode two, and I don't know if it improves, but there's a lot of dead air on occasion, which implies that the hosts don't really have a script, and often just fall silent when they run out of things to say. It's one of those things which can absolutely be corrected with practice, so I don't begrudge them that. Anyway, what prompted me to comment here is something from their first episode; namely the idea of the "muse" and "mun". Is this something that's widespread in the FF14 RP community? I admit I've never heard of this, but it does make sense in that there has to be some way of signifying the separation between character and player, and "muse"/"mun" is as good a method as any I've seen elsewhere. I have only seen "muse" and "mun" used on Tumblr, which I know the hosts both use so that is probably where that came from. They do explain it in one episode but I cannot for the life of me remember which one. To summarise; "muse" comes from the Greek muses. They were nine Goddesses of inspiration for literature, arts, sciences etc. The train of thought being that we get inspiration from our characters; they become our muse. "Mun" on the other hand, means mundane. Which as players who live in the real world, we kinda are.
  20. Welcome! I also came from WoW and it was a heck of an adjustment, but I'm sure you'll figure everything out. If you ever need any help with anything, my main is Ameline Valence and my alt is Izayoi Miura (both open to RP too!). As for your character concept, Coerthas is a snowy mountainous landscape so she could be from there? And Miqo'te are tribal anyways, especially Seekers of the Sun. Keepers of the Moon are generally more family oriented but this could be viewed as a tribe of sorts.
  21. I'd like to offer up my character Izayoi. She's another Raen, though more martially skilled than magically. I have a feeling they would get on, through their no doubt shared experiences with the Galreans and Eorzea. If you have Discord feel free to message me on Swanmay#4079 otherwise feel free to PM me if you're interested.
  22. Ameline is an Ishgardian noble, so maybe we can set something up! Have a check of her wiki and let me know what you think
  23. Colour me interested! Your charcter sounds awesome and I would love to see if we can set something up. I also live in the UK so there would be no time conflicts
  24. General Info Name: Izayoi Miura Server: Balmung Race: Au Ra ~ Raen Citizenship: Doman Age: 21 Orientation: Bisexual Relationship status: Single Brief Bio: Izayoi came over during the peak of the refugee influx, landing with nothing to her name and only the clothes on her back. She came on her own, with no knowledge of whether or not her family woud follow. Since then she has wandered Eorzea far and wide, trying to settle somewhere. Currently she resides in the Mizzenmast, renting a room on a semi permanent basis. She is also recieving instruction in Arcanima from the Arcanists Guild. About Me I've been RP'ing for a few years now (mostly in WoW), and I've been playing Final Fantasy since about January. I'm not on Balmung yet but I hope to be in the next couple of weeks, after that it's gearing up for a while. However, I am in the UK so I can't guarantee that I'll be online at the same time as everyone else, hence why I have put in my Discord and I will update with my Skype when I figure out how to change my name. Looking for RP: General role play. MRP: Mature role play. Willing to explore darker themes. Contacts: Other Doman refugees are always welcome! But really anyone who can help me flesh out this character. Free Companies: I'm also looking for an FC to join. Preferably advernture themed or something along those lines. Izayoi is generally quite pacifistic, but she does have a high level of ninja training. OOC I really love running dungeons and trials, I haven't raided yet in FFXIV but I want to. I main SCH but I have most jobs levelled. Linkshells: Any Linkshells that can put me into contact with other Domans or Rp'ers. Medium In Game: Balmung server! Out of Game Skype: [email protected] or Swanmay (didn't let me use a Skype name for whatever reason) Discord: Swanmay#4079 (preferred) If you do add me on any of these please drop me a message letting me know who you are first! I've missed a couple of people that way. Style Freestyle: You have no set method in roleplaying. You freely jump from onelining, semi-para, and para with no consistency. One Line: Literally one sentence of post length. Para: Paragraph. Five to six sentences of post length MultiPara: Multiple paragraphs of post length. PTM: Post to match. You’ll match what your partner gives. Generally flexible.
