  1. Love the idea. That's awesome and I can definitely see where the hilarity would come in. I can already see some fun events in the future (if everything comes together, of course). As far as names go... I would normally go with something Latin, but Latin holds no meaning in Eorzea. Mayhaps something to do with insanity? It'd be a clever use of the definition of "insanity" (doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result), though that would only be clever and amusing OOCly. Hm... I will have to think on this.
  2. I apologize for my earlier post. I can understand how someone might take what I said as confrontational and, quite frankly, rather aggressive. I didn't really mean it that way, I had just woken up and didn't know what I was typing. I basically had a direction and typed in that direction. But that's not the point of this post. I see that I was looking at this the wrong way. My background is forum rping, so I see a Do Everything character and instantly associate it with a Gary-Stu/Mary-Sue. So yeah, I must apologize for that. In thinking it over, because of how lore set up the characters, multi-classing and being good at multiple classes does make more sense in this scenario. This is actually a pretty good idea and something I'll probably do. W'Dekan is my main character and, as such, my "end game" character. Even if ICly, W'Dekan only ever uses his Dragoon Job, OCCly, he'll have all of the classes. This whole topic, though, (As many others have said) comes down to person choice. That's all I'll really say on it.
  3. That's a pretty cool idea. I like it. No suggestions, sadly.
  4. No no no no. I would highly advise against that, actually. I had made a thread about repeat content not too long ago and everyone seemed to be on the same page about that question. I'll just quote someone who put it way better than I think I can.
  5. Edit 7/2/2013: Edited information pertaining to Linkshells. Edit 7/5/2013: Added "Coil Runners" to list of Linkshells. Edit 7/18/2013: Edited information.
  6. I'm not really playing a tribal Miqo'te, even though he was born in a tribe and still carries his tribe name. Even though he was born into the tribal scenario, he thinks the idea of a normal romantic relationship and marriage would fit him better (hence why he is "Ever-Tia" ICily). Other than that, he's an outgoing individual and is much more like a "metropolitan" Miqo'te, despite his background. That being said, he's more or less like a metropolitan Miqo'te with tribal tendencies.
  7. I'm in the same boat, actually. I'd love to practice before launch.
  8. I'm basically just going to echo what a few people have said, but it's my beliefs on the subject as well. Having level 50 in every single class is called being a "Gary Stu" in the rp realm. You're good at everything and have no major faults aside from whatever (I'm sorry to say it) weak personal flaws you can come up with. In a situation where you're good at everything, pretty much any character flaw can be combated. If you're good at everything, you're either a robot or you're perfect. I made W'Dekan a Lancer because of how he grew up. He was a fisherman from a young age, which eludes to spear fishing, and everything started from there. Even though his family was mostly comprised of Pugilists, he picked up the spear and was different. The only other trees I can see him touching are Pugilist (because of his family and, OCCily because I need it for Dragoon) and Conjurer because A) He's in Gridania already and B) because of how he is, he'd want to try the other side of the coin (Magic Vs. Might) just to confirm that he picked the right "school".

    Bosses and Rp

A Very Pertinent Thread. Ah, I see how it's handled. I'd have to agree with never saying to absolutely killed something big. The Bahamut example is fantastic. Thank you all.
  10. Wow. Talk about timing. I just posted a thread asking a question about repeated content. I'd love to join another linkshell for this (if I can, that is. I forget how many you can join). It's a good idea and I'd be happy to help you with it if you need.
  11. I just thought of a pretty (at least in my mind) good question. Ok, so with bosses... Do you only RP fight a boss once, then it's like that boss is dead to your character? Or what? How are raid bosses, and raid type scenarios handled? I apologize for the mildly silly question, I just had to know.
  12. Alright, I'm going to preface this whole post by admitting that I don't read comic books in the traditional sense. I've never touched a Hellboy comic, never touched Deadpool, nothing. I am, however, an avid manga (or manwha in some cases) reader; so I'll use characters from those instead. If it wasn't for manga and anime, I wouldn't be rping today. I wouldn't be having nearly as much fun. So yeah, you could say that manga and anime have influenced my rping. Character 1: Jotaro Kujo (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) My God. What can I say about Jotaro? This guy is awesome. He's just cool. He comes from a series that is kind of goofy (a lot of characters are based on bands/songs/albums. In fact, the name of the series "JoJo" comes from a Beatles song) but is, in the very same breath, extremely fun and cool. Much of the first few series's revolve around punching vampires to death (or said vampires killing you) and later, Hirohiko Araki managed to make a whole series on horse racing cool. But now I'm away from the topic of Jotaro. He's on of the first "Stand" users (stands are basically spirits that help you fight) and his Stand is Star Platinum. He's just a really cool character and, if you can get passed the art style, I'd highly recommend the series. Character 2: Dark Mousy (D.N.Angel) Hm... What to say about Dark. Well, to be honest, Dark has had the largest impact on my rping and web life. My first handle (DarkWings) was derived from Dark and his... well... dark wings. Even now, after all these years of creating new characters, little hints of Dark's personality shine through. Because of the time that I read the manga (and subsequently, watched the anime) I actually absorbed some Dark Mousy-isms into how I am. He was just such a well written character. Basically, he was Phantom Thief Dark, who is functionally immortal due to a series of events. As his title says, he's a thief, though there's always a reason why he steals something. He doesn't do it just for the sake of stealing. The item is usually cursed or something of that nature. What he steals is... of little importance, really. What makes the character memorable for me is his social interactions. D.N.Angel is, at its heart, a romance story. As such, Dark is a very interesting character and the writer was smart with the character dynamics. Once again, I'd highly recommend this to anyone.

    Phase 4

I'll have to do that. That's a really good idea. So far, I've only touched 3 classes (Lancer, Thaum, and Mar) and only personally liked one class (Lancer). I need to try Pugilist for sure.
  15. Unfortunately, if you wish to play it on the PS3 you must have a physical copy of the game disc. You can, however, play on the same account that you made with your PC, which means you don't necessarily need the serial number, you just need the disc. Meaning you can likely buy a used copy for very cheap on Amazon or ebay and play the game on the PS3 that way. Wait, you can play the pc copy on the ps3? Noooooooo. You'd have to buy the ps3 version.
  16. Because of all the cool stuff you get for the collectors edition, I don't think you "done goofed". I'd have done the same thing, to be honest. And with Early Access... I'm on my ps3, kay? Do I get early access as well? I bought the collectors edition.
  17. Love seeing everyone's characters. I would post my character up, but... I don't know how to screencap on my ps3. Don't even think I can.
  18. I'm actually under the impression that Arcanist might not be in P4. If not I'll probably start as a conjurer. I'm going to try what Desphiria is wanting to try. Balancing leveling and rping. I know that for sure. And it'd be pretty... mean to throw out this awesome looking class, then not even have it. It'd really hurt Mar quite a bit too, I'd think. I see quite a few people complaining about how Mar is the only class to start in Limsa right now and that it's way more difficult than it needs to be because of that.
  19. I've been wondering if we had a chatbox. I'm As_A_Syn

    Phase 4

Hm... that's a fairly reasonable time frame. I'll have to try my damnedest to not become too attached to my character before then.

    Phase 4

So the earliest we can expect is... middle to late July, I think. From the beta test schedule, we have one more week of phase 3, then a 1-2 week debug for phase 3. Only then will phase 4 begin.

    Phase 4

Do we have an idea of when phase 4 is supposed to start?

    Greetings!

Welcome to the site! If you have any questions, feel free to ask
  24. My code is 0962 9718 1667. Added everyone here. I don't play on my 3ds all too much, but I hope to get Animal Crossing soon.
  25. Yeah, I was like "Must beat quest." then I remembered that I'm losing my character come phase 4 and I'll have to start all over again (just finished taking notes on his creation though, so I'm good). So, I'm not too worried about it now. Might just try out a different class to see how it plays. So far, all I've touched are the Thaum and the Lancer classes. Edit: Yeah, some of the missions are kinda hard, but they aren't impossible. A little challenge is healthy. I only found one that I had to get help with and this one... well, no clue about this one.
