Hm... I like the idea of using something related to gil or merchandise, but I don't know how the surname would sound, seeing as his father is a Chocobo merchant. I suppose I could have the surname be "Feather" or something of that nature.

I was thinking of basing it on his family profession (merchant), but I'm not quite sure what that'd be. As I read from the Hyur Midlander naming conventions, their surnames were generally either their family trade, where they lived, or a feature of that person. They used the example of brown hair leading to the surname 'Browne'. Lots to think about.

I've been debating giving X'sato a more "normal" surname. His family isn't tribal by any stretch of the imagination, but they kept tribal names as a sign of heritage. With that in mind, I originally just went with "Tia" as his surname because... well... He's a Miqo'te. Then I got to thinking about it and it wouldn't make much sense for his family to keep the "Tia/Nunh" relation because they aren't part of a tribe. I figured I'd throw it up here to see what people here thought. Maybe make it a poll or something. Now I have no idea what his "normal" surname would be, but I can come up with that rather easily. It'd probably be a Hyur surname (or like one) because of where he grew up (Ishgard).

Ooooo a fun thread. What... is in your character's bag? X'sato travels extremely lightly, and as such only carries a few days ration (extremely light rations at that) of no-perishable foods, a couple potions, a novel for when he's bored, and a few feet of cordage. He leaves much of the bag empty just in case. What do they consider essentials for survival? Other than food and water (both of which he could find out in the wild), he considers the decently sized knife he keeps on him at all times and the few feet of cordage to be essential. If he is ever separated from his spear (how rare that is), with the knife,cord and a branch; he can make a rough spear. A decent weapon can net you food and he can find water. What are their keepsakes that push them forward? He has a necklace that his parents gave him before he left to fight in the Holy war. How much room is there for things to collect from the wild? Plenty. Not enough to fit everything he might find on his travel, but enough to fit what he deems the most important. How much Gil would they carry on their person? Very Little. Much of his gil is left in his home, hidden. If they have a chocobo they would haul...? For being the son of a Chocobo merchant, he doesn't own a Chocobo. What kind of things would they leave behind? Most of his gil, casual clothing, non-essentials. What would they discard that you currently keep? 90% of the trash loot. X'sato is only really interested in crafting armor on the side, so he doesn't really have a need to carry around so many animal pelts or anything like that.

I'd... imagine he'd take a carriage from Gridania to... somewhere, then take a boat from there. Lore is not my strong suit, as you might notice. But that'd be what I'd guess. Edit: As far as duration goes, I have no clue either. I probably shouldn't have even posted, seeing as I'm almost no help.

I'd love some art, sadly... no good references. I will have some in the future (hopefully) though, and you'll hear from me again!

If he's a big reader, show him some of the stories on the site. Maybe showing him what we do as rpers would make him want to join in? A few stories I default to (because there are tons of really good ones) are Shuck's Superpositions and Xerek's In a Child's eyes . If he's not a big reader... maybe show him around the site? Show him the possible communities. That might sway him. I know I joined because I love the community and wanted to rp.

My desktop is old and a piece of shit for online play (I maxed my ping on LoL at... like 6000) and my laptop... well, I use my laptop for skype and stuff. I don't know that, sorry. I'd imagine they get their own distribution because of how the branching jobs will work in the future, but that's just me making a guess.

Well, it seems other people have beat me to telling you about the 1.0 characters, so I won't repeat it. Anyhow, I'd love a unified server, but it will only happen if SE names a server "RP". An official RP server is the only way I see us all being on one server together. There are people who just don't want to be on a Legacy server for one reason or another and that's okay. So yeah, that's the only way I see a unified server happening. MAKE IT HAPPEN, SQUARE ENIX!

I do believe that jobs take the level of your class, so yes, a level 50 Thaum is a level 50 Black Mage. I'm not sure how Arcanist works, but I'm sure that it'll be, for example, a level 50 Arcanist is both a level 50 Summoner and level 50 Scholar.

Hm... Finding a song that really fits X'Sato is tough for me. I have so many songs that fit parts of him or how he might act from time to time, but finding one song is... difficult. The closest I can get would have to be both of these songs. I could't find just one. 5mSFNDtSwrE ovI4wfZiaSU

I'm making a male Seeker Miqo'te and he will be at 58 on the slider, but I figured he's like... 5'6". This is an interesting thread. I just picked this out because it looked the best to me, for my character. Strange that I'm so tall in real life (6'2") yet play mostly short characters.

Is the walking in town thing really something a lot of rpers do? I'm new to rping in an mmo setting, so I'm just curious. I've never actually toggled run/walk yet and still find myself sprinting to get around town quicker. :frustrated: Guess I'm just impatient.
