  1. That is a predicament, isn't it? Doesn't the eye that is covered have like... a symbol on the covering? Something like this? If push came to shove, I'd just say he modified it to allow him to see out of that symbol (looks like a cross, so I'll call it a cross). He could claim that the mask is mainly a scare tactic or something. Just throwing another idea out there. I'm not a lore master, so I don't know if your idea is feasible or not.
  2. I really like the idea. It's really solid and you can tell that you've really given it some thought. I'd like to know even more about the character, personality wise, but other than that, the concept and general history path is really strong. Not an idea I expect to see much of. Do you intend to put a scar over (or as close to) his injured eye and use "odd eyes" to make it a different color (say... white or something of that nature) so show his damage and partial blindness?
  3. Yeah, I noticed that after my hands got so used to typing the "s" capitalized. I need to go through and fix all that. Thank you for reminding me.
  4. As you can probably tell from under my username and avatar, I am sticking to the naming conventions of the Seeker Miqo'te. I have reasons both ICly and OOCly as to why. OOCly, I like how it sounds and I like that it adds another layer of depth to my character (not to say those who don't are less deep). ICly, my character's family is far from tribal, so one would imagine that they would use normal names or something like that, but they kept their clan naming conventions as a sign of heritage. Not as much a sign as say, the Keepers have, but "X'Sato" still shows that my character's blood is related to that of the Lynx tribe. I, personally, like the naming conventions. Could be just me. As far as seeing other people using them, I do believe that there are more than there seems to be. I know a few characters use the naming conventions, but go by a different name for one reason or another.
  5. I don't believe Dragoons are "exclusive" to Ishgard, more like Ishgard is the origin of the best lancers/Dragoons. I believe. Self-exile is... the most logical way, I believe. I suppose the story path for being a Dragoon of Ishgard is, essentially, the same regardless. It's what happens before and after that makes your character unique, I guess. That's kind of why I focused so little attention on his actual training and time at war. It was year after year of fighting dragons, much like every other person he served with. Maybe I went about it wrong, I don't know. So far, out of the people I've gotten to read it outside of the site, I've gotten nothing but positive responses. Edit: WOO! Post 100! Double Edit: And proved wrong about Dragoon exclusivity by Isilme.
  6. Do you have any backstory? Maybe explain why it is that she is as she is? As far as adding to personality... Is she always like that? Does she snap and take on a darker personality? What does she stand for? What does she hate? If you answer these questions, they'll really help to develop a character. I know they worked for me.
  7. Thank you for the feedback. I was starting to worry that it was terrible or something. I like writing in first person and I figured him telling the tale would be really interesting, almost like an interview or something of that nature.
  8. I rewrote my character's history (and pretty much everything else) recently and am muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch happier with it. So, I wanted to get some feedback before I put it up on the wiki. I have been talking to Uther about my history so I could avoid making a character with an identical history to his. Anyhow, I wrote the whole thing IC because I figured it'd be fun and fresh and really give my character a voice. I hope it's good, but don't be afraid to tell me if it's the worst thing you've ever read. Edit: I know there are some spacing errors. For some reason, the site doesn't like it when I copy paste from word.
  9. Pretty much my thoughts.
  10. Did not know that. I've never been in Limsa. That's exciting.
  11. That... is pretty damn comprehensive.
  12. That does seem like a logical progression. As much as I'd like there to be a whole different class for the guns thing. I wouldn't be surprised to see like... Pugilist -> Monk/Ninja or something to that effect.
  13. Alright, so I've read somewhere that Arcanist is only the first class to have branching jobs. I'm quite a big fan of theorycrafting, so yeah. This is just kind of a fun thread for people who have ideas of other jobs that might branch off of existing classes in the future.

    Lore Question

At least a big lore Codex (I.E. Warhammer 40k) or something.
  15. Quick link to the wiki just in case. I do believe there was an NPC in 1.0 that was assumed to be a mixture of the two clans (F'lhaminn), so yeah. I'd have to assume they get along.
  16. Awesome! Welcome to the site. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
  17. I really don't know why I continue to read this thread. All it does is stress me out (I get stressed for reasons that don't really effect me). But here we go. Can we please just stop? I pray that SE labels a server as "RP" so we can put this issue in a fucking sack, tie cinder blocks to its feet, and throw it in the fucking river. Really. Some of you are taking the "primary/secondary vs. Legacy/Non-Legacy" way wrong. No one is labeling you as a "second class citizen" but yourself. "Primary/secondary" are terms that indicate degrees of entanglement and involvement. So, yes, the majority of the community is involved in Balmung, making it the Primary. If you take offense to this, I'm sorry. I don't want to kick the beehive anymore. In fact, I beg that the staff locks this thread before it gets even more out of hand.

    Lore Question

This. Rakka'li and I have been searching for more specific lore on Keepers of the Moon, to further expand our backstories. I have a lot of ideas that I've got on the backburner to flesh out some history for their tribe, but without knowing basic customs and cultural ideals, it's risky to take any of those and run with them, for fear of lorebreaking. ._. Pretty much. My character will be a Dragoon at some point in time and I'm trying to write it so he actually has a reason to pursue being one. I just want to know more about everything so I'm not lorebreaking or writing useless stuff.

    Lore Question

I had that open, but I figured there was more to it than that. Maybe I'm wrong.
  20. Could someone point me in the direction of all the Lore surrounding Ishgard/Dragoons? I'm rewriting my character's history and would like to know more, but can't find a whole lot. Thanks in advance.
  21. As a person who has console gamed pretty much my whole life... I don't think Enormous Assholes will stick with that price. If they do, it'd be a huge mistake. I can personally say that I just wouldn't buy them. I'd not be able to buy Bioware games anymore, but eh. I'd rather play other games anyway. If this is true, I don't think it will last.
  22. If you're referring to me, then I am touched. I quite like your character as well and I do agree that Savarah would probably get along well with W'Dekan. Makes me almost dread tomorrow when I either tweak him or scrap him (for an Elezen that would be similar, but unique in his own way). We shall see the outcome tomorrow. Don't forget to add Xerek and Shuck to your list of "overachievers". Xerek's In a child's eyes is a fantastic read and Shuck's Superpositions is another amazing read. I know exactly what you're going through, though. I hope to join that list of "overachievers" one day, myself. I guess only time will tell.
  23. I know exactly how you feel. I look around and seeing what some people are writing really inspires me, though. I'll admit, I half-ass a lot because I know I can get away with it (or at least mostly), but I look around and all of the fantastic writing makes me remember why I'm here. I remember why I changed majors to English so I could pursue writing. I'm actually going to say thank you, to everyone here. You have all inspired me to... not be so fucking lazy all the time. I've never really been this excited to play a game with a group of people. Outside of my girlfriend, I've never been so nervous to receive opinions on what I'm doing. So yeah, I'm super impressed with everyone here and I'd like to thank everyone as well.
  24. Alright, I'll start off by saying Welcome to the site. I hope to rp with you in the future. And as far as your question goes... There are tons of threads about this and it comes down to Balmung or Gilgamesh (as I'm sure you know). Now, I'm going to be on Balmung, but for the sake of this thread, I'll be in the middle. I'm going to quote someone from a different thread because they wrapped up the whole debate into one, easy to understand package and I really agree with them. I hope this helps you make your decision. Edit: Also, Something Wicked This Way Comes is a fantastic movie.
