If you are an avid RP'er it is the best money you can spend. I have not once looked back since I completed my server transfer. I do not think being on the EU time zone would be too much of a restriction. Balmung seems to run 24/7. If you have any questions feel free to send me a message.

It sounds like you have a solid character concept to start with and it sounds like its time to build up your RP network and further flesh out your characters finer details. Like Kasi said you could throw up a making connections post, you could put together a wiki to share a bit more about what your character is like and that can help you fill in some spots you hadn't thought about, or you could jump in to some events on the Balmung RP event calendar. I would definitely second Kasi's recommendations below. I have interacted with C'io of guiding light and I am a member of Azemya's Oath so I think either way you go would be a solid choice. OATH is actively seeking researchers and more scholarly types for artifact research at the moment. I would also offer Deahfel for your bodyguard needs. She has plenty of experience working jobs like that and keeping individuals safe while out in the field. So feel free to reach out on here or in game and we can discuss/brainstorm together. Hey Serenity, Deah would certainly be interested in escorting you on one of your excavation runs. If you get a good lead on location of a relic or some other item of interest and needed some protection for the dig or exploration of the area I think that could work well. Sounds very interesting to play when you get into the political game of Eorzea. Lucky for you there is a great RP community here on the forums and hopefully on Siren as well although I am not at all familiar with that server. It seems like I see some RPC folks from there pretty regularly though so you may be able to get something going. As always we do like to recommend that for the full RP experience that you may want to jump over to Balmung so you can binge on the 24/7 RP atmosphere. Hello and welcome to the RPC and eventually Balmung! I don't think you would have any issues playing a serious lalafell in RP. I think all of the races have some stigma attached to them, but ultimately it is up to you to decide how you want to portray that character. Is there any particular reason you want to finish leveling on your previous server? Balmung has a very active PvE scene as well as RP. So you may just want to transfer when you have your character set up. You could look at things like RP Levelers linkshell where you can hopefully knock out both of your goals! Hey there and welcome to the RPC! I am glad you decided to jump in and experience what a great RP community we have. I know it can be intimidating to initiate and reach out to people for RP, but I like to just remember that everyone who RP's on Balmung is there for the same reason as you are to interact and enjoy some RP. So just going in knowing that you both have the same goal generally makes approaches easier for me. You can also flag yourself with an RP tag under the group search info and put a little info about who your character is. I often check that when looking to RP with someone. I would definitely throw up a making connections post and let people know what you are looking for in RP so you can start building that network. If you are more shy in your interactions and have trouble keeping conversations going you could try teaming up with characters who are more talkative and can help you move scenes along. Hi there and congrats on the decision to dive right in. I think the others did a great job in explaining the basics of how to convey yourself in RP with emotes and say or even macros if you are feeling particularly spirited. I think when you jump in you will find that you have a certain style of expressing yourself that is a unique blend of how you use /say, /em, stock emotes and as long as you are able to adequately communicate with your RP partners you will be in good shape. So I would say don't sweat it...hop right in and find the voice for your character. Hope to see you around and RPing!

I would just chime in and say to RP them how you envision them. You can make it lore compliant and still put your own spin on things. I certainly don't think race would be a limiting factor in picking up an IC class of samurai unless you wanted it to be. Maybe that can be one of your personal story arcs is working to be accepted as a lalafell samurai? Anyways, best of luck and I hope to see you around for RP sometime!

Hey Thibault, you are exactly the kind of RPer we are looking to work with in the Hydaelyn Protectors Linkshell. We are based out of the goblet and most of our cases/work has been in Ul'Dah dealing with the underworld we are uncovering there. We are working some smaller achievable goals such as going after bounties, responding to disturbances, and following up on leads. As well as some overarching goals to bring about reform and get some justice back to the people. It would be interesting to get your characters take as an ex brass blade on how best we could combat some of the corruption in the criminal justice system of Ul'Dah and would be able to get that set up as a more solid plot point. Character concept sounds solid and I think you will definitely find some like minded individuals in the groups on here (I will wait for Kasi to chime in on this one for you). I know it can be a little nerve wracking to jump right in, but the community on Balmung is one of the best. Just think everyone who is on the server is there with the same intention as you...To make the most out of their RP! When I think of it like that it certainly helps me take the edge off when approaching new people. That said, if you want to spectate or see how everyone RP's you can check out some of the smaller taverns or events in the game. I personally learn best by doing so I like to tell people to jump right in and RP with someone (Reach out to any of the awesome people on this thread!). We would love to have you check out our in game linkshell and discord server where we schedule most of our RP. Right now we have an upcoming knight tournament as well as an ongoing plot to track down a wanted woman in Ul'Dah with some underworld connections. For FC's I would certainly recommend Ryslo's group Knights of Eorzea. We have teamed up with them on events before and they are a great group of people. I also like how they are structured to make sure all incoming members get more personalized RP from one of their knights. Hope that helps!

FFXIV has a fantastic RP community and it sounds like you have a solid character concept going so far. I would definitely check out the listings for FC's/LS's here on the site and see if any of them jump out at you. One recommendation I have is to "test drive" any FC's out by RPing with them a bit and checking out their events to make sure its a good fit for you and your RP style. Other than that you can start cranking out your character wiki, head over to the making connections section to look for some RP contacts (or you can reach out to those who respond here as well!), and there is always the Balmung event calendar if you are looking to go check out some of the incredible events that are hosted.
