Hey Wyznwyta, I would be happy to throw Deahfel your way as she can contrast pretty well with quieter characters and can get things instigated more easily. Other than that I would be glad to set up a meet up with Azemya's Oath or C'io from Guiding light as I am in contact with them pretty regularly and we could approach that from a work perspective. Hey Koen, My character Deahfel would be very interested in learning from you. She is a greataxe specialist and has a lot of holes in her martial skill and knowledge that she wants to shore up. In the field she generally finds herself in the role of a bodyguard so she would be focused on strategies for keeping people or things safe. I think her learning some new weapons or just learning more from your military experience could be a good opportunity for her. This could be field training in addition to just learning from Koen. Not everyone's RP styles are meant to go together and that is OK. I would definitely echo what the others have offered and put up a making connections post and be as honest and as you can about what YOU are looking for so you can get back to enjoying it. The RP community here really is wonderful and once you make those great connections it makes you forget about the rest. I was pretty nervous to jump into RP when I first started as well as I am not the best writer. Find people to RP with that you are comfortable sharing RP with and you shouldn't have any issues. If you are still nervous you are more than welcome to send me a tell/message if you have any questions or want to RP in a non-judgmental environment. Since you are looking for a ruin delving FC you may want to check out OATH run by Hikari Miyuki as they put on some solid events and have a lot of RP going on around those storylines. Once you get your backstory and a bit more about what you are looking for in that we could probably point you in the direction of some Linkshells you might enjoy. If you are looking for OOC interactions you may want to poke around and look into some discord servers. We have a pretty casual but active discord through my linkshell(Hydaelyn Protectors) if you want to check that out and schedule some RP with us. Hope to see you around in game!

Hi Nyx and welcome to the RPC and Balmung! It looks like Kasi took care of the guilds/Free company/Linkshell explanation so I will tackle what remains. Clothing/Gear/Hair: So this will be something that you will acquire throughout the storyline as you progress in the MSQ (Main Story Quest). If you hate your starting clothes you should be able to relatively quickly get some new gear from the intro quests and vendors (I think one of the quests even forces you to update your clothing to a certain level). If you are that far along and still not finding what you like you can check out the marketboard to see what is available to you for some of that hard earned gil. If you can't afford any of that just let me know and I will see if I can weave you some arcanist clothing that doesn't look atrocious. Hello and welcome to Balmung and the RPC! Setting up a restaurant can certainly be a good way to generate RP stories and be a lot of fun. From the few people I know who have an establishment like that they are a ton of work so keep that in mind before you jump in. Not sure what you quite mean by your RP skills are "wierd" so I would maybe suggest RPing with a few different people and soliciting feedback to see if there is something you could be doing differently. It sounds like you have a great background for RP so once you get your character dialed in and figure out how you want to RP them it should be a pretty easy transition. The large public events can be a little intimidating to jump right into with the chat scroll and overwhelming number of things going on but that is a great place to network. I wouldn't worry about your RP newness when interacting with people as most everyone on here started from a similar point and should be pretty helpful if there is anything blatant you are doing that is off.
