  1. I've been trying to track down a link, but the one here does not seem to be working anymore. Would it be possible to post an active one? Thank you!
  2. One of the small things I thought was kind of interesting was the mention of tunnels under the wall, which means people have indeed been escaping from Ala Mhigo, if not regularly, then at least enough that there's tunnels that can be used and is known of. It might have been common knowledge to others, but it was something I was a bit unsure of, so that gave me a better idea of things.
  3. Yeah, it seems like being creative might be necessary at this point, but that should be ok. Personally, I plan on treating it as "This is what -Raine- does/learned" rather than "this is what Ala Mhigan Shamans does", and with 20 years away from Gyr Abania, I bet there's been a lot of adjustments for everyone, so there should be room for some personal variations and vagueness in case we (hopefully) get new lore with Stormblood. But awesome to see other people's shamans! I'd love to get some contacts for Raine! It would be great to share ideas and perhaps do some RP!
  4. I'm looking for any information I can find on Ala Mhigan Shamanism for.. Reasons Anyway, the info seem a bit sparse and scattered. I have the lore book, but haven't really been able to find much about it there. So if anyone happen to be sitting on some lore regarding Ala Mhigan shamans, I would be more than grateful! I know I'll probably have to keep some things vague as there's doubtlessly a lot of holes in what we may actually know, but I'd rather build as much as I can on actual lore.
  5. While Raine is more of a storyteller than a bard, I have played bard characters in the past, and what I've usually done is a combination of things: I write my own songs for her. Those are the character themselves has written. If I use a song written by someone else (from youtube, etc), I also do not claim credit ICly. My character might say something like "I learned this tune from a bard in Limsa Lominsa" or some other explanation as to where they got it from. I'll also OOCly link to the actual song + provide proper credit. Finally, one of the things I love is to share songs with other bard type characters. Play something you heard someone else play at an event, but of course ask permission to use it first and make sure to give proper credit!
  6. Has Blue Mage and Samurai been confirmed? I thought they were only going to add one more class!
  7. Welcome If you're planning on playing an Ala Mhigan refugee, you might want to check out the Ala Mhigan Resistance Linkshell. I did that with my highlander and it helped a lot with making connections, plus, people has been super nice at answering questions about lore!
  8. Raine is a social drinker, and generally speaking, she'll get even more chatty and make less sense. She laughs a lot, but her already somewhat labile mood also tends to get more pronounced and she can get a bit more "punchy" if she gets mad. She usually avoids throwing up but does sometimes black out. While she does get hangovers, she's usually fairly upbeat about it and always have a ton of "remedies" against it, with varying degrees of success.
  9. Ah dang, I'm sadly working late and can't be there for this, but it sounds like a ton of fun! I hope to be able to participate in the future!
  10. If they do that, I will organise a protest in game to demand the NPC's death Currently playing through Heavensward and yeah, same. Way to completely negate a really powerful, emotional storyline as well as any long lasting consequences? No more of that please.
  11. I did Palace of the Dead yesterday, the very first levels (1-10), with an Elezen and two Miqo'te, a male and a female. I'm on my Astro, but since it's the low levels where not much healing is usually needed, I'm in Cleric Stance. On the second floor, the male Miqo'te just stands at the beginning while we clear the floor, and then runs to the teleporter. Ok, no big deal. The same thing happens on the next floor. And the next. After about four to five floors, the Elezen initiates a kick. I just want it over with, so I vote no and continue going, even though I too found it a bit annoying. The female Miqo'te however, who I assume is the friend or partner of the male (afk) Miqo'te starts loudly complaining about how mean it was to start a kick. The male miqo'te comes back and joins in on complaining, saying that "he was doing housework". The Elezen says that he shouldn't sign up then, if he was gonna be busy with house work, and at this point I also say that while I voted no to the kick, I did feel it was a bit rude to join a run and then go afk for half of it without telling anyone. Oh boy was that apparently just super mean of me because he TOLD the female Miqo'te (who didn't say anything to the rest of us), and NOW we showed how we treated people, and we were being really mean and really bad people. This all despite the fact that no one had sad anything worse than "This is kind of rude". When I said I didn't think we had been particularly mean, I was hit with "Well, she's a better healer than you anyway, you shouldn't use cleric stance when you're healing!" and I was a noob (which is technically not untrue, I've been playing for like a month, but still). Lol, ok, on floor 1-10, sure it requires some super srs healing there.
  12. Ah, I completely missed this! I'll send you a pm, and also see if I can catch you in game. Thank you so much!
  13. I do know that around the game's launch, with the RP community getting briefly split between Balmung and Gilgamesh, a lot of those going Gilgamesh were citing the Balmung was a Legacy server full of 1.0 players who would somehow ruin the experience for everyone else and some were even using that as a scare tactic to sway people to Gilgamesh, I dunno, maybe that got misinterpreted (or maybe there were a handful of genuine Legacy assholes). Both are possible, and definitely not mutually exclusive I think! I wasn't really involved enough in the community to get the full picture, but yeah, it was probably something like that.
  14. I played back in 1.0, and returned very briefly for ARR, and I do actually remember something about Balmung being called a Legacy server. I remember someone told me you could only create a character there if you had played in 1.0, but tbh, I think that probably wasn't true. It's a rediculous notion in any regard, but I DO remember hearing about it back then.
  15. I just finished the main storyline up to Heavensward, and while I really enjoyed it and had managed to avoid enough spoilers that it was still left a huge impact, I also have to admit.. I'm not super eager to do it again. It's a LOT of quests, and while the story was fun and engaging, once you know where everything is going, I can see how it would become a bit of a slog. So I guess I kind of get it. At the very least, it might be nice for alts when you already have a character at max.
  16. I'm not a huge fan of the "glance at someone" approach either. It does rely on the other person to do the actual approaching, and I think a direct interaction usually works better. I will sometimes "take the bait" and interact with someone who's glancing at my character, but it's happened quite a few times that even that is met with, well, pretty much nothing. To me, emoting at someone usually means you're at least somewhat interested in interacting with them, but I've tried several times that someone glanced at my character, she responded, and was then met with maybe a grunt or just general dismissal. And some characters are like that, I get that, but then I don't think it's the ideal place to look for interactions with them, because now you're not only relying on someone else to do the approach, you're also relying on them to keep pushing your character for interaction, which can be hard to expect from strangers. With my less-than-social characters, I usually prefer getting them into storylines with friends where I know we can talk about how to get them involved in a way that is fun for both of us. And then, if I want to bring them to larger gatherings, I usually go with those friends, so my character has a reason to get dragged into interactions.
  17. This is actually something people say? With max four different faces and only relatively minor variations beyond that (not counting face paint etc), that seems like a really odd thing to complain about.
  18. was that directed to me? Nope, was directed at OP Baltazar's Favor was a FC (or something) I used to co-run back when the game first launched.
  19. I don't have any, but I'm considering getting a few, just for changing expressions maybe.
  20. Oh my god, I know that signature! (And name for that matter) This is Seraj, if you remember me back from the BF days, it's been a while The character I'm playing right now is actually technically the same one I played back then, though I recently gave her a race change (to Highlander). If you want to add me in game, her name is Raine Silvertongue, would love to catch up. Both me and Dal recently returned as well, it's super fun to see more people from back then!
  21. I'd love to enter as well! I feel like it would be fitting to get my husband's character in a butler outfit <.
  22. Raine would be voiced by Heather Headley. And this song incidentally seem to work fairly well for an Ala Mhigan refugee zZnElTagIRw
  23. It sounds like a very promising concept, and I really like the inclusion of non-roleplayers who are still RP friendly. I tend to play with a small group of friends where 3 of us are roleplayers and one is not, and sometimes, finding a place that works for us can be hard, so definitely my applause on that! Treasure Hunting and exploration is always a solid theme to me, and while I'm still kind of checking things out, I'm definitely gonna keep an eye on you guys! If you do set up a Linkshell that people can join to get to know you better, I'd be very interested in joining that for a start!
  24. I know my husband is super excited, Red Mage is exactly what he wanted, both ICly and OOCly for his character, Vallerin. I gotta say, it does look pretty dang awesome! It's not really Raine's style, even if she is quite the lovable rogue, but I'll definitely live vicariously through Vallerin instead
  25. This is so super generous! Here's my list: Sophic Barding Expanse weapon (Bard) Round weapon (Bard or Astrologian) Any Aquarium Mogstore Outfit (Y'shtola's Modish attire) Lesser Panda Large Woven Rug Southsea Set Fenrir Pup Moonfire Lantern
