There is at least hope within the smaller servers to branch into nice roleplay areas. Including taking advantage of the things we have learned and things we wish we knew when we first started out. Its the wild, wild west out there-- and I suppose if the other servers don't speak up, it never stops someone from trying to get something rolling. Much like those guys on Ultros! I just hope we spend as much time in Ala Mhigo, as we do in Doma, if not a bit more time in Ala Mhigo. As someone who comes from 1.0, the whole deal with Ala Mhigo has been ingrained in us for some time. The knowledge that Gaius Van Baelsar won Ala Mhigo without a shed of blood (and only came later as the people started to infight, thus the resistance), how Nael Van Darnus was given command to take Eorzea after Gaius failure, thus brainwashing children of Ala Mhigo... The fact that Ala Mhigo has been under Garlean rule for at least 15-20 years now (depending on how much time passes via MSQ, beyond the 5 years pass between 1.0 and 2.0). We been hit fairly hard with the "Here is the state of Ala Mhigo" for some time. I will be kinda sad if they just simply give us a glimpse into it, but all we are doing is just running through it with the bigger part of the story being in Othard. Don't get me wrong, I think it is cool we are going to Othard, but I am far more interested in what is happening to Ala Mhigo and how over all these years, ruled by one Viceroy who was 'kind' and now being ruled by a viceroy who is an evil jerk. How does this impact the people? How is it impacting their culture? Did people get into another skirimish over the changing of the viceroys? I want to know more about Ala Mhigo dangit!

Honestly speaking, Balmung isn't weak and I'm not sure why anyone would want Balmung to look weak. I am not even 100% sure why you wrote this either to be honest.

So, I've been fairly quiet about things as I've been giving a chance for the other Roleplay servers to come in and speak about themselves. I am in support of where-ever the cards may fall, as I know people will do, in the end, what they will do. To explain a bit about myself, is that I am someone from the ye ol' days of Besaid. I was there during closed beta, open beta, and I watched the very formation of these forums. I actually remember when this place was called the RPC and not Hydaelyn; Or I think it now it is called H-RP. I watched as we were merged with another server and we managed to keep our small, but lively roleplay community together. We didn't have Discord back then or many means we do now to keep the community connected, but we found the ways here in this forums to remain a strong community. I also remember when the servers were closed down and when 2.0 started, but it was around here that I stepped away from Balmung, because my life took a very different path and I did, sadly, yes, burn some bridges because of it. I always lived in the shadow of that regret. Of the fact that my life, while out of my control, did burn bridges and tarnished my name a bit. Knowing that when I returned and with little to no connection. The harder it was becoming for people to join Balmung and watching the posts here, I decided to create the RPC, name sake to these forums long ago, on Mateus. Why Mateus? Because Mateus was a very low pop server, a very friendly base community of the already mix culture that was there. The non-roleplayers were supportive and curious. The roleplayers were open and warm. It reminded me greatly of Besaid so long ago; My home. I knew there that this place had the potential to be a flood over for Balmung, it had a chance to become something special and wonderful, and so I spent nearly 6 months of my time working with the community to build it up. To make amends for what I had done and to help support something that could flourish for the servers lifetime. Low population means great place to build from. Its open. Its untouched. It can be shaped. It is a chance to start over and make anew. To learn from past mistakes and fix those mistakes to make something greater. To come to Mateus, to support Mateus, is to build on a foundation of the great frontier as some many forefathers did before us. It has housing available, a market that can grow, and a community that can continue to strive forward. I believe in what we are doing here and while yes, we do have our growing pains, and little subcommunities are being created as I type this. This is alright, it only shows the continued growth, the continued success of this building on this frontier. You can join us on the RPC of Mateus or you can create your own path. We are ready for both of these, as a local of Mateus who is very supportive of Balmung, wishes to help as much as I, and is super excited to see all this work paying off. They even created a Discord to help keep sub-communities all together as one family. Because to be here, is to be family, and we all know families don't always get along, but its how we grow from those experiences and how we handle those experiences is what makes us as community. I want Mateus to be a sister to Balmung. I love the people of Balmung, my former home, and I did this to help. I did this to help not only Balmung but to help increase the population on a server that needed the people; That wanted the people. I will state this, I am aware of them. I have already said my peace to them (I'm Koti on the SE Forums). They are not the RPC and they are not at all the face of most of the community on Mateus. I don't know who they are, but when I was shown this by one of the members on the RPC, I was quick to reply. Sadly the SE Forums can be a very toxic place that speak very ill of a community. It's one person making a characterization of Balmung because someone from Balmung said that Balmung needs to be labeled RP server and essentially force out everyone else who isn't an RPer off the world. Is that what started it all... Gods.... I feel like bring out my rocking chair now with my cane and going "I remember back in 1.0 on Besaid... We didn't worry about no fuddle duddle RP tags. If you were looking for RP, you just had to go searching for it... with the lag and sometimes zones trying to eat your computer. Mmhm." That, and the official forum's general populace posting has always been a "Balmung's issues are created by Balmung itself." No matter if people were there because of the Besaid merger etc. Just don't let the official forums' posters represent a sample of who you will see in-game. They're just another example of a vocal minority. Does Mateus' RP community have any representation on tumblr? Or Faerie's? Other's? I know Balmung's RP community is barely represented in part by those here on RPC (hydaelyn roleplayers coalition, this site here). I know there's a sizeable portion of Balmung roleplayers on tumblr. Would it be possible to gather some of those communities to come and speak about themselves here? My knowledge, given I created the RPC, we are here on Hydaelyn forums and we have a discord. Thank you for putting this up for the discussion of us smaller servers. I need to rest my eyes for a bit (been staring at my screen since 8am this morning and its now 5pm), but I will be glad to speak up a bit about Mateus, if others from the server don't speak up before I do-- But here is a little I can offer. All I can say is we been around for a bit now, at least since the Q4 of 2016. Our thread here on Hydaelyn has around 2k views and we share similar rp styles to Besaid, or what Besaid was like and the early days of Balmung. I have already gotten about 5 PMs as of today looking to join up, 3 which have joined our Discord channel which we use to post events and keep everyone in touch (along with list community rules), and just invited 2 new people to the LS. We have a total of 90+ members and around 20-25 people on as of this writing. I have seen it get up to 40 members during the weekend and even higher on some days. We have had some growing pains, but these are to be expected. I am not going to hide that, but we manage to always get by them and keep having fun. If one person trips up, someone is there to lend a hand. These are a great group of people. Mateus as a community is a great group of people. Nothing is not without its problems, but its how we deal with those problems, is how we are able to keep marching along. If nothing else, at least come give us a look and if you decide Mateus is not for you, that is fine as well. There are Siren, Fairy, and others and I know they too are just as eager as we are in their own way. I just sadly can't speak for them.

While the others can use just as much as assistance than just Mateus, I can say that we have been rolling since around Nov 2016 and made a post here back in January of 2017 (you can see it on the Linkshell Listing under Other). From my knowledge of the Mateus old guard, the RPC there is the longest running and most successful rp group they have ever seen since the start back in 2.0. There have been many before the RPC, but none that have managed to keep up and keep going. Yes, I did complain of some concern, but that is because I tend to speak openly. I don't beat around the bush and I can sometimes be tactless. That said, the officers who were not involved in the small group DID keep things rolling just fine and several people did continue to rp just fine and we gained about 3 new members while I was gone. We just gain 2 more today of this writing. Edit: I also like to note that Besaid was my home. I was there when it was voted. I was there when the mass posts were made of our unofficial rp server. I was also there when it was a small community. I also watched it come back during the start of 2.0. I do love Besaid, I care for Balmung, but my entire energy and focus is to Mateus; Along with several others. I am fairly sure if Siren, Fairy, and Jenova's people were to speak up, many of them would feel the same way. Much energy has been given to our small communities and each of us with a different way of handling the roleplay.

I honestly don't mind this either, though I do know about everyone in my RP LS has a house and some have put a ton of time into not only their characters, but also into the FCs. It would require for us 3 to talk things over and look at the logisitics. I am willing to do this, but it will be a nightmare to determine who really has the higher pop in the RP LS + the unknown count. That and I imagine, like we do on Mateus, they probably also have members who don't want to lose their homes, because that is probably the largest factor right there. We small servers actually of housing available, which means, someone of the two will have to give that up and hope they can get back their house in a timely fashion.

Given Mateus has been going on for nearly-- 4-7 months now?? I think you already are.

I been posting over on the New section, but for those looking for a place to call home and be part of an RP community, we do have a growing and established RP community on Mateus server. Its a low pop server, but given what has conspired (as sucky as it is to see this happen to my old home), we are here to help folks look for a new place to call home or who like to assist the growth of Mateus to be a sister server to Balmung.

See post regarding folks not connected to the RPC and also those outside the trouble circle. Also they are not really cannibalizing one another, not-- sure why you got that idea or feeling. There is just growing pains and honestly the chain on the LS, while created when we are smaller, are now not healthy for it, which is why I want to see it expand outside of the original settlement. Think of it like when we first came to America or any country came to another region. They had a small settlement, eventually this settlement became large enough that for its own health, it HAD to spread out. The Mateus RPC is now at the stage where it needs to spread out and new settlers can come in and place their claims on the land.
