  1. *blinks at computer for a long while and then, very casually, flips the switch to detonate Earth's core*
  2. For what it's worth, here are the guidelines Twinflame and I used when organizing the Blood Fever outbreak in TERA. Unfortunately, Celestial Hills' community is downright horrible and only a few actually followed some of the most important rules (such as letting us know if they got infected so we could better track the spread and organize folk interacting with one another, also the big one: no miracle cure). However, we ran it and are currently in the "distributing the cure" portion", winding down the RP cause ARR. It's something we had intended to serve as a "pilot" program of sorts in the hopes of drawing up an ARR-appropriate version to run here. ^^ Communication is absolutely key, as well as providing people things to do that doesn't involve getting sick. For the Blood Fever thing, we did this by providing a series of tasks people could complete that could contribute to discovering the extent of the outbreak as well as researching the cure. In an ideal world, folk would report back to the DCB (an IC entity that existed only for this Blood Fever thing) and we'd OOCly fill in the progress bar for the cure... unfortunately, CH is as it is, and most folk decided to just take things into their own hands. So we worked with what we had. It just so happened that the Blood Fever thing also paralleled a personal plot Twinflame, myself, and a couple others had been brewing, so we also got some good roleplay out of that at least. As far as Eorzea goes, as in any world, there's likely no shortage of nasties that can serve as pathogen carriers and certainly no shortage of diseases. It's just a matter of coming up with one that facilitates the most RP. What we found was that the disease needed to be very easily transmissible but also not immediately debilitating, allowing for roleplayers who got infected to continue "as usual" for a while and infect other roleplayers. It's also important to centralize the search for a cure, organizing players who want to be involved in such a thing around a single group. For the Blood Fever event, we actually created a temporary Disease Control Bureau that anyone could join (it wasn't a guild - folk just needed to contact us ICly or OOCly and we would involve them in DCB roleplay) and contribute to the cure's research and/or the treatment of patients. This helped us keep things on track and also served as a nice hub of information for the rest of the server. Like all server-type events, however, it doesn't get very far if people don't actively participate and, perhaps more importantly, follow whatever rules are set forth. Overall it was a very fun thing, however, and something I fully intend to explore in ARR a few months down the line once characters have been better established.
  3. Here's to hoping that the creation's still open by the time Twin can get in touch with his brother... it'd be nice to be able to play with him, seeing as we got him the game for his birthday so he could spend time with us. >_
  4. No, all you've been is just exceedingly lucky. If it were that easy... Well, I would have been able to play for more than two days over the past couple weeks. Good lord I hope it's fixed tomorrow.
  5. Haha, this is a little off-topic, but I helped run a server event in TERA recently that revolved around a disease outbreak. One of my own characters got sick and very nearly died (only a single dice roll saved her ). That said, it was horrifically difficult to find people who were willing to RP as infected. I don't understand why, though. This was an amazingly life-changing experience for my own character!
  6. I think you're recalling a statement that was made in regards to aetheryte attunement in general - not when one dies. Just that if your body dissociates into the aether stream, if you've attuned to a particular aetheryte, you'll tend to come back together there. It was basically explaining the Return spell. I could be wrong, though.
  7. No, the green-quality ones - things like the Acolyte's set and such. They're undyeable, which is seriously disappointing. I'd also be willing to bet that endgame gear is largely going to be undyeable, which is just... why even have dye in the first place argh.
  8. The past couple days, I've been waking up at around 8am CST (that's 6am PST) and trying for at least an hour to log in. All I've gotten for my efforts are a slew of 1017s, so... yea, even getting up early, you're more likely than not not gonna get in.
  9. And an actual queue instead of this fake spam-log-in crap. >_<
  10. This has been on my mind since they announced their plans as well, and it's extremely concerning. It's possible it's something that just got lost in the vagueness of the wording, but... I'm not about to put any faith in that kind of a hope.
  11. Aside from the lack of a wardrobe feature, the inability to dye dungeon sets was seriously the most disappointing thing about ARR to me.
  12. I spent a good chunk of time in Rift today. If tomorrow and the days after are anything like today and the days previous... it's where I'll continue to be for quite a while. *sigh*
  13. I may be wrong here, but I was under the impression that the things a summoner calls are... well, less than the actual primal. Couldn't you just be summoning a sliver of Ifrit et al?
  14. I'd also say that not being able to log into the game at all for days (I've managed to log in a grand total of twice since early access and was only able to play in phase 4 for the last half of the second day) is pretty serious. It's certainly one of if not the worst issue I've seen in an MMO launch. Queues I can deal with. Occasional bugs I can deal with. Something like this, that keeps you from playing at all? Yeah, no. Fingers crossed that these server upgrades work.
  15. No, the information isn't really restricted in any way. There's just a lot of it, so a few people have the responsibility of keeping up with it. And I'd love it if you included K'piru in your character's backstory! Also looking forward potential roleplay from this, if I could just get in-game... Antimony spends a lot of free time at the arcanists' guild.
  16. Heh, this reminds me of one of the "server princesses" on Ravenholdt back when I played WoW who roleplayed that she and her family owned the Sunwell. Hilarious! Twin and I even tried to play along with that, as our characters needed to break into the Sunwell at one point to do a Very Important Thing (our characters were undead, so good luck getting let in the front door hah). We asked her if she wanted to RP with us, and she just flat out said "Nope, I'd never let you in!" Oh well. That was some fun RP we had without her!
  17. I've been trying to log in this morning for... two and a half hours now. 1017 all the way, unless I get 2002 lobby errors. This is so fucking frustrating.
  18. I don't know; I think it's time-based. It's incredibly annoying, though, especially when I'm trying to format a thread for posting a story so that it's more easily readable. I wish I could disable it.
  19. 1. Anti used to be the tribe's healer and had been training K'ailia before the Calamity. After the Calamity, she couldn't bear to meet any duties pertaining to the tribe. Presumably, while K'ailia went off to Gridania to learn conjury, someone else (or a group of someones) took over the medical and otherwise shamanistic needs of the tribe. That duty may fall to K'ailia now, depending on how certain RP goes (yes, Ailia, I'm working on it!). 2. The current tribal elders are K'deiki, K'jhanhi (former nunh, now well beyond his mating years), K'trynu, and K'takka. They guide the tribe in legal and social decisions, serve as advisers and counselors on both an individual and group basis, and lay down ultimatums when necessary. I'd also like to note that I'm currently making some very significant edits to the tribe's family tree, particularly with regards to Khaze'to's and K'raqi's branches.
  20. Yes to all of this. If you're queueing as a dps, ACN, (and that is ALL you can queue for) I expect you to dps - not ghetto pet tank or heal. If you want to do either of those, make your own pre-made party.
  21. Ugh, really? I hated the low character limit in TERA... >_> Someone better post about that on Lodestone.
  22. No, the problem is that they severely underestimated the popularity of this game in NA. That is their mistake, and Yoshi owned up to it. You don't have to try and save him from a mistake he's already admitted he made.
  23. I wish I could! I went every year for the four years I was in undergrad at Agnes Scott, since D*C was just a quick MARTA ride away, but now if I want to go, I need to save for plane tickets and a hotel room. >_< It's such an amazing con experience.
  24. K'raqi was going to rewrite that part of his bio, but things have come up. Rough outline: When Dalamud began to fall, a large number of the tribe's huntresses left to join the fight against the Empire. A few of the tias and nunhs followed soon after, leaving a skeleton of the tribe behind - mostly those too old, children, and those simply unwilling to fight on a battlefield. When Bahamut was setting fire to erryfing, the tribe fled to hide in the cliffs at the western edge of the desert to try and escape the giant balls o' fire dropping down from the sky. Eventually, a few survivors of the battle returned, carrying with them as many of their dead as they could find. The tribe's population has been decimated as a result.
  25. I wouldn't do it, and I didn't do it. Even though for the past week I've only had a few hours each night to play thanks to being ridiculously busy with moving out of my apartment. Yes, this meant that most nights I didn't even get to play. Am I annoyed? Mad? Pissed off, even? Hell yes, especially considering now that the 29th is past, I have to wait until Monday before I can even think about playing again, because my CE box is waiting for me in Texas, while I'm... not there. But I'm not nearly so self-centered to waste space on a server when I'm not actually playing just so I could make the most of my time later. It's flat out rude.
