Reliquarian's Guild «Relic»
Kazukata replied to Lydia Lightfoot's topic in (Antiquated) Free Company Hall
I'm Kazukata Go, and this is my favorite guild in Eorzea. On a more serious note, though, Lydia's a great rper with a really cool idea. I'm already planning on showing my face around here as a member, and would love to see this get off the ground! -
discussion How would you retire your character
Kazukata replied to Desu Nee's topic in RP Discussion
Kazu's probably going to be adventuring until he's too old to safely pick up a glaive, which leaves his two options as death or retirement. I don't have any specific plans to give him an untimely demiwe, but it's not like it's out of the question in his line of work. If he makes it to retirement, though, I see him becoming a storyteller and chronicler of fables that's always foisting unsolicited advice to young adventurers. That's the clearest image I have for him, so I suppose it's also the most likely. -
If SE was to designate an RP server, would you move?
Kazukata replied to ExAtomos's topic in RP Discussion
Official rp tag or not, there's one thing and one thing only that would figure into my decision to move: where my contacts are. At first, I figured that would make my answer a hard "no," because my contacts spread across multiple FCs and communities, and there's no way they would all collectively agree to move. However, I'm a little surprised by just how many people are voicing support for the idea. One other thing that has struck me is also the discussion about the sheer size of the rp population, and after reading through a lot of the comments, I'm of the mind that multiple servers may not be a bad idea so long as we all continue to remain interconnected by outside functions such as the RPC. I probably won't be the one to do it, because I'm perfectly content, even ecstatic, with my current rp experience, but I can see the pros to such a plan. Obviously, if the server stays locked indefinitely, then the community will be forced to pick up roots sooner or later lest it atrophy. However, I'm right now taking a wait and see approach. Obviously, new people can't come in, and yes, they need somewhere to put roots. I think with the rate of new people coming in, we may well already be making a second community. I personally view servers like Mateus as a holding pen of sorts, but if the situation goes on long enough, I don't see why it couldn't naturally cement into its own community. And after a lot of what I've read, I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I personally think an rp tag is irrelevant, but the more interesting argument that's arisen about whether to split the community or not has given me a lot of food for thought. This post ended up a lot more stream of consciousness than expected, but yeah, those are basically my thoughts on the subject. -
balmung Looking for long term RP connections
Kazukata replied to Swanmay's topic in Chronicled Connections
One aspect of Rosalie that popped out at me was her desire to explore the unknown, particularly the bit where she's "not afraid to delve into the deepest depths." Considering that fits the fc I'm in to a t, I thought I'd do a brief plug for them. I have no idea if you're looking for a fc or not, but here goes: Azeyma's Oath is a band of artifact hunters that plumb the depths of ancient ruins such as Amdapor and Gelmorra. They brave the ruins for any treasure left behind, study any artifacts they find, use/sell the good ones, and lock the potentially dangerous ones away from the reach of those that might covet them. We're taking all comers, but we have a particular interest in intellectuals who would want to study the artifacts. The fact that Rosalie wouldn't be afraid to roll up her sleeves and go on an expedition would be a plus, as well. It's also worth noting that the fc has a large number of Domans in it, and we're looking to go back to Doma in SB. We've also got a few EU players and strive to make sure all our events are EU friendly, so there's that, too. If any of that sounds interesting, feel free to check out the fc's page (link in the signature). On a more personal note, there's Kazukata. I don't see anything in particular that would draw Kazu to socialize with Rosalie, but you don't necessarily need something in common to strike up a conversation, and there's also the Doman connection. If he sounds like an interesting character (and you can read up on him in his wiki, also in my signature), then we can see where they go. -
balmung Doman ex-noble & bookkeeper seeking connections
Kazukata replied to Deneve's topic in Chronicled Connections
Oooh, I'm defintely interested after reading. Two refugees old enough to remember the days before the invasion, and yet still have been strongly shaped by the war. They have a lot in common despite having such different upbringings in their country! Higan's admittedly a bit more reserved about discussing the fine details of her background (she feels a bit guilty due to her family even if she's still proud of them), but the mention of Kazukata's participation within the war would probably get her to open up pretty quickly. Do let me know if you stop by one of the events, or would ever like to swing by while I'm on. Sounds great! Kazukata's in the same boat where he doesn't really talk a whole lot about parts of his private life back in Doma, but considering how similar the two's experiences are, he'd likely be much more willing to open up about it. Shoot me a friend request sometime when you're online, or hit me up on Discord at Cinnamon#0200. -
balmung Doman ex-noble & bookkeeper seeking connections
Kazukata replied to Deneve's topic in Chronicled Connections
Doman? Old and sad about their past? Widowed? Likes to drink it away occasionally!? Man, you just got Kazukata bingo! Kazukata's a veteran of both wars against the Garleans and lived as a hunter out in the country between them. He also married while out in the country, but when he signed up for the revolt, it nearly destroyed his marriage. Then Doma burned down before he could get a chance to try and mend the situation. Kazu's a war veteran, so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for him to recognize the Koutate family name, but he probably wouldn't know Higanbana personally. Even so, it certainly sounds like they have plenty to talk about. Check out his wiki in the signature below if any of that sounds interesting. That said, if you're sticking with Wayfarer's, you're bound to run into me sometime, since I swing by there semi-regularly. -
balmung Looking for connections!
Kazukata replied to Asuka Sakamoto's topic in Chronicled Connections
Nice to see another person using the Doman/Garlean wars as a backdrop to their backstory. As a veteran of both wars, Kazu could have potentially crossed paths with Asuka's father, or perhaps even her grandfather if he was involved in the initial invasion, though Kazu served in the rank and file as a footsoldier. It could be an interesting dynamic, perhaps even shed some light on the father's ultimate fate in Doma, if that was a direction you wanted to go in. If you see any potential there, check out his wiki in my signature. Kazu usually only ends up in Ul'dah on business, but he could still run into Asuka easily enough, particularly if she starts hanging around Deah. If you're interested, shoot me a pm and we can figure out if we wanted to make any backstory connections/how to make these two meet. -
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) for your character-Just for Fun
Kazukata replied to Lady Whiteraven's topic in Fun Prompts
Kazukata ended up with one that fits him decently well: ESFJ (The Consul). The intro blurb focuses on high school cheerleader/quarterback-esque popularity to a groan-worthy degree, but I suppose it makes sense that I would get impatient with all that, seeing as I'm a different MBTI personally (INFP). Also kind of funny how random character traits I just kind of handed to him without much thought (he's a busybody that's always eager to foist his viewpoint on others, his insistence on never even trying to learn magic with the assumption he'd be terrible at it despite there being no real evidence to support his opinion) seem to fall under the same personality type. I do like the quote, though, since it fits Kazu well, even if it's a little cosmic for my personal tastes: "Encourage, lift and strengthen one another. For the positive energy spread to one will be felt by us all." -Deborah Day -
Ben is a cool dude that comes highly recommended. 10/10, will definitely be playing live TV audience to gasp on cue.

balmung Looking for helping hands in Gridania!
Kazukata replied to Lucyfer Loire's topic in Chronicled Connections
This sounds interesting, and I'm all for a stronger Gridanian community! Unfortunately, I don't have much time of my own to reel other people into this as will likely end up being necessary, but I can volunteer Kazu for this list and some rp. -
I'm not currently playing a performer, but seeing as I may bring my pve bard over one day, this is still something I'd be interested in.

balmung Miqo'te Widow Attempts to "Get Out" More
Kazukata replied to Shona's topic in Chronicled Connections
Kazukata is still clinging to his dead wife and probably never letting go, so I can't offer much in the way of romance, but as a fellow widower, there's plenty of room for companionship as the two support each other in their shared misery. Check out his wiki below, see if there's something there that interests you. -
Hey, do you have a few details or plot hooks about your character? No need to go through their whole backstory if you want to keep that under wraps, but what do they usually do for a job/hobbies? What are their aspirations? What's their shtick?

balmung Doman Raen Ronin seeking connections.
Kazukata replied to Juromaro's topic in Chronicled Connections
What's that? Looking for an archaeology/Doman military themed fc? Well, then you should check out Azeyma's Oath (link in my signature)! We're a band of treasure hunters that delve into ruins looking for artifacts, study the good ones, and make sure the potentially bad ones never see the light of day again. We focus mostly on the archaeology side, but we're also lightly Doman themed and will probably move the fc to Doma once Stormblood comes out. There's also my own character, Kazukata, who's a Doman ex-footsoldier that also ended up in Yugiri's refugee group. He ended up on the ship after being put in critical condition a few days prior, thus getting him a ticket to safety with the civilians. He was largely despondent during that time and probably not a great conversation partner, but it's conceivable that Celyaena could know him from there. -
Having a character "consigned" to the Aetherial Sea sounds cool as shit. Would also go a long way to explain why they're magically cast back there whenever the trigger happens. "Aether" is used as an explanation to handwave so much crazy, wonky stuff that I could see it working well here, too. It also would work the same as being dead, since when you die, you basically disperse and return to the Aetherial flow reincarnation style from what I remember. Actually staying a physical being in the flow is the hard part.

[New] Roleplayer I White Mage I Hyur I Balmung
Kazukata replied to AishaHeartfield's topic in Welcome Desk
Welcome aboard the RPC! If you haven't found it yet, check out the character workshop subforum and make a thread there. Most, if not all of our resident lore gurus keep an eye on that subforum, and they do a great job getting people's characters shipshape and lore-worthy. At least, they did with mine. Again, welcome aboard! -
Looking for a Paladin/Gladiator/Knight-related FC
Kazukata replied to MM2099117's topic in Chronicled Connections
I'd also say that the aptly named fc Knights of Eorzea would be straight up your character's alley. You might want to look into them! Here's their thread in the FC hall: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=17970 -
Looking over Wyznwyta's wiki, I'd say Kasi's ShroudLife linkshell would also be an excellent choice to pursue. The linkshell is more or less a gathering place for people who wander between/outside of cities to facilitate rp away from cities. For a city hater like Wyznwyta, I'd say that's probably your number one pick, flavor-wise.

balmung Mafia Guild looking for connections.
Kazukata replied to Lilira Lira's topic in Chronicled Connections
Heh. Just don't mention where it came from. -
This is all super cool and exciting! I don't have much to contribute right now unless you ever need a hunter's opinion on a case for whatever reason, but a month down the road, I might have something for you, especially if you're getting entangled with the Coven. Regardless, show of support, go you, all that stuff.

Hey, Azeyma's Oath person here! We're always looking for more bookies to take with on our expeditions and poke at the artifacts we find. If you've already taken a gander at our fc's page, then there's not much to add other than that we'd be happy to have you apply! If you wanted to find out more about Guiding Light, C'io Behkt is the one that runs that fc. If she doesn't find this thread and come in herself, I imagine a pm would get you the info you're looking for.

As an addendum since I've just caught up with the conversation: if your characters are already written out and ready to go, then I'd doubly recommend the wiki. All you'll have to deal with is the formatting, which is only a third of the battle. As for the connections threads, look at a few examples in there. The basics you want are a rough overview of the character and a few potential plot hooks, as well as maybe a little about what you're looking for out of people OOCly.

Welcome aboard! I'm afraid I'm not sure what your specific tastes are, so rather than point you in the direction of a specific group, I'll just point out a few good places in the forum to get started finding one. As Arietty mentioned, the making connections section I'd great for finding individuals to jumpstart your web of rp connections. Give it a gander and look at what some other people are doing. Another thing you might want to check out along the way is the RPC wiki. A lot of people use it as a center for all information on their character for both themselves and other people to reference. You can see those in a lot of people's signatures. Making eight might be a bit of a herculean effort, but one for a main character or two might not be a bad idea. As far as linkshells, most of the community here is pretty "serious" about rp, though everyone has their own definition of the word, so most of the linkshells you find in the Linkshell Hall (another section of the forum that basically lists all the active linkshells in the community) should largely check that box. Beyond that, there's a whole wealth of variety to choose from, with some linkshells being in-character, while others are ooc-only. There's also a whole gamut of different themes to them. The aforementioned Hydaelyn's Protectors, for example, are a bunch of vigilante do-gooders. There's a similar section for free companies, as well, if you're ever in the market. If you're looking for some lore help, there are also the lore discussion and character workshop sections. Building a plot with eight interweaving charactees sounds pretty complex, so I imagine you'll need to lean on our resident lore-wizards' expertise at some point or another. Don't hesitate to make a thread in one of those places if any questions arise. I think that covers most of the basics of what the forum has to offer, but send me a pm if you get further questions. Hope that helped!

I can't tell if this is a reference to the discussion people were having in response to the OP, or the more recent responses to you personally as we've slowly drifted off-topic. If it's the former and you actually resent the discussion itself, then...why are you here? Shh. Let people enjoy things. That's kind of been the theme of this thread. You do you, they'll have their intellectual discourse. If it's the latter, what kind of response were you expecting when you waltzed in and tried to explain straight to people's faces that experiences they personally lived through are, in fact, false? This is dumbing the argument down a bit, but for the sake of levity and brevity: If I ate a burrito last Friday, and someone tried to convince me I had pizza, I'd give them a confused look, then say: "No, you're a dumbass. I ate a burrito and I know what happened in my own life. What the hell is wrong with you?" Sure, I'd probably get over it after five minutes because it was dumb and petty, but I'd still call them a petty dumbass along the way. And that's over something completely banal and pointless. If you're going to take someone's reasoned, meaningful discussion, something they actually cared enough about to, y'know, take a few minutes out of their day and share some personal insight about, and tell them "nah, your experiences, things you've actually lived through, are completely invalid," can you see how that comes off? Let's set aside your intent for a second with the assumption that you meant no actual harm and that wasn't at all what you actually meant to say. Just think about how that comes out and reaches the other person, what that says to the person you're talking to about how little their opinion matters or how much you're actually paying attention to it? Particularly when you continue to argue that specific point without addressing that you might have stepped on someone's toes on accident? Can you maybe, just a little bit, in an alternate reality, see how someone might take offense to being treated like that? Can you see how some of the salt might be at least a little bit justified? Enough with the holier than thou routine. Meet me halfway here. Anyway, now that I can put the soapbox away, my two cents on the topic: I joined an fc with an application, so clearly, they don't bother me that much. I hemmed and hawed for a week because I'm a lazy fuck, but that was on me, and when I actually sat down, it took like a half hour tops. You know what took a lot longer than a half hour? A freaking RPC wiki page, and those are practically standard on these forums so far as I can tell (mind you, my perception). You know what else took more than half an hour? Developing my freaking character's backstory and personality, something else I highly recommend all people do. Maybe people do things in a different order than I do, but by the time you're actually ready to fill out an fc application, you've already put hours into your character. Like, good, well-rounded rp characters take a fuckton of work, even outside of the rp itself, especially in their nascent stages. After all that work, is taking 20-30 more minutes to fill out some piddly paperwork really that great an additional burden? Hell, I imagine it's more stressful and time consuming to specifically find a quality fc that doesn't have a registration than to just apply for one that fits the theme you like. Like, you can do it, I'm sure, and if that's really what you want, sure...but just...why?
