Chickpea Posted July 31, 2013 Share #51 Posted July 31, 2013 Swimming of course, It's July! That said I hate having tan lines so lately I just hide inside with the AC on and play Animal Crossing. Then as it turns out you get tanned in there too.. no place is safe! Ditto this. I've been swimming (albeit infrequently), writing, reading a TON (currently finishing up Cory Doctorow's Homeland before moving on to more regular fantasy fair) and playing a lot of Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Also, reading up on game lore and prepping for getting my characters together Link to comment
Fiona Posted July 31, 2013 Share #52 Posted July 31, 2013 Rp on Skype, Shadowrun Returns, Pay day 2 beta, talking to people on Skype and dog walking! What kind of dogs do you have? :surprise: I have a Border Collie and an Aussy. They are awesome, but my aussy is a pain in the butt still. I have one dog called Dagur and he is a Beegle. Dogs! Rosetta Stone Japanese, and recovering from surgery :dodgy: Get well soon! Awwww, da beagles! Whiskey is my Beagle. Her and I go for a four mile walk atleast twice a week. Averis Posted July 31, 2013 Share #54 Posted July 31, 2013 Mostly been playing Skyrim, Dragon's Dogma and other random rpgs and games. Also been working on story for a unconnected personal project. I've got plenty to keep busy, if not too much, but it still seems like ARR is taking forever to get here. Link to comment
Felix Sideris Posted July 31, 2013 Author Share #55 Posted July 31, 2013 Rosetta Stone Japanese, and recovering from surgery :dodgy: YES! I have a Japanese Rosetta Stone..but I barely ever use it. I have all four levels too. I should really use it more often. It is hard to do when I have no one who knows Japanese to talk to. And I understand Japanese wayyyy better than I can speak it. Well, if anyone ever wants to if someone said "The policeman is eating" in Japanese...I'm the one to ask Although I have to say, I do find my ears perking up more and more often as I'm watching anime, as words are used that I actually recognize...must be doing something right  That is exactly how I feel Link to comment
CallmeYahweh Posted July 31, 2013 Share #56 Posted July 31, 2013 Life is keeping me fairly busy in its own right. I had the junkie jitters for a solid week and a half after phase 3 ended but it's (mostly) gone at this point. Doing a lot of reading, especially out of my comfort zone: I picked up three Haruki Murakami novels a few weeks back and I'm chewing through those at the moment, then it's probably off to retry reading Dhalgren again. Lots of editing; helped out a buddy with his third novel, and read through a script with another one. As far as videogames go, playing a lot of League and Warframe. With a little Borderlands 2 and various titles I picked up on the Steam summer sale here and there. Link to comment
Naunet Posted July 31, 2013 Share #57 Posted July 31, 2013 then it's probably off to retry reading Dhalgren again. It took me two attempts, but it was well worth it. Samuel R. Delany is incredible. Link to comment

Grott Posted July 31, 2013 Share #59 Posted July 31, 2013 To keep myself distracted from phase 3 to phase 4, I've been hiking like a madman. I'm trying to summit all 53 of the Colorado mountains above 14,000 feet elevation. I've got 7 so far. Link to comment

Felix Sideris Posted August 2, 2013 Author Share #63 Posted August 2, 2013 Honestly, our FC's Skype RP has been as addicting as crack I haven't needed any other distraction I'm relatively new to the community so I haven't gotten into any Free Companies or Linkshells yet. So we'll see! I kinda wanted to find one ICly instead of just joining one that seems good and making an IC reason for my character to join, you know? It shoots myself in the foot at the same time, though. I'm in RP withdrawl. Link to comment

Would be nice to see more FC's/LS's recruit ICly, rather than OOCly world shouts. In the meantime, you could always start a bunch of Open RP threads here on the RPC! I think there is an RPC RP Skype channel too, but I could be wrong Link to comment

I think there is an RPC RP Skype channel too, but I could be wrong I'm used to IC guild recruitment because of World of Warcraft. A lot of guides there advertised OOCly, but the recruitment was largely done ICly and usually you would have to do some kind of application on their guide website. It was pretty fun, I used to be a recruiter for my friend's guild and I would spend some days just sitting in a tavern interviewing people like crazy. And.. That is a good idea! Maybe I should start an open RP thread. Hmmm... Link to comment
sanguineFenrir Posted August 2, 2013 Share #66 Posted August 2, 2013 I'd like to comment on FC's and Skype: I'm used to seeing IC recruitment as well, though I've seen both. I've joined several RP guilds on an OOC first basis, because that was how they operated. (i.e., they were game first, RP later.) But, once I was invited to the guild, the other members would presume to already know my character and things about them (even without me telling them while in character.) It was very mild and never referenced anything specific to my character's backstory, but I always felt off-kilter whenever a guild tried to do that, as I don't play characters that are well-known or overly open. It was very difficult for me to interact with them because of the stylistic difference. As you can tell by my user info, I already have one LS, which seems like it will be a small group. That's good, and I expect to have more LS's for different purposes. However, I'd really like to find an FC that isn't too large and fits my character, and build up a good foundation with them on IC (and perhaps OOC) levels. I have seen Skype RP referenced multiple times and I believe Gerik has a thread with the details. A general RP chat does sound like it could be entertaining, but I'm not sure how well I would mesh with the group, particularly an established one. (I bring Skype up because I'm pining for the game a bit, and tend to laze in front of my computer rather than playing my PS3 as I had intended.) Link to comment

Raccoon Posted August 3, 2013 Share #68 Posted August 3, 2013 Let's see... Anime is keeping me distracted even though there's not a whole lot that's captivating me this season (Majestic Prince, Free!, A Certain Scientific Railgun, etc). I've been puttering about on Marvel Heroes since it's f2p and it's got Rocket Raccoon. Honestly, it's about like Minesweeper in my mind. Something to fiddle with between other things or when those other things are getting boring. I've been half-heartedly puttering around in the Shadowrun Returns editor. Pretty much just seeing what it can do right now rather than actively trying to make anything. Oh, and still puttering around on Champions Online, though it keeps driving me off to do other things on account of being all stale and uneventful. Hm... a lot of puttering in hindsight. Chance Posted August 5, 2013 Share #70 Posted August 5, 2013 I just randomly picked FFVII back up and it proving to be a good distraction along with Dissidia 012, Birth by sleep, and Crisis Core. I beat most of them already, but there is nothing like picking up Kain and laying waste.8-) Link to comment
Zyrusticae Posted August 5, 2013 Share #71 Posted August 5, 2013 I already have far too many distractions as it is, between Phantasy Star Online 2 (goddamn, that game's a timesink), Skullgirls, a whole crapton of other random games, a bunch of anime from this season (I'm following like 7 shows right now), and a whole bunch of internet stuff... it is simply impossible for me to fathom someone who is unable to find ways to keep busy while waiting for phase 4 to start. Speaking of PSO2, have some character shots: Link to comment
Merri Posted August 10, 2013 Share #72 Posted August 10, 2013 Set out with a goal to complete the Chains of Promathia expansion from start to finish the other week when I started playing XI. Today, I've finished that journey. Was even more amazing than I remembered it. Still takes the #1 spot in storyline for me as far as video games are concerned. Hell, almost in general. Unfortunately, far sooner than open beta. Now I gotta find something to occupy me until then. : < Link to comment
