Titan HM Help

Hi RPC!

 

A few guildies and I have been banging our heads against the wall with Titan (Hard Mode) for a little while, and a few of us (namely me!) are getting a bit disheartened. We just want it over-with for our relics, dangit!

 

We know the fight up until into Part 5, which we have experienced, but not at great length. I know we can do it, but we've just had some poor luck with PUGs.

 

Our Group:

 

1 Paladin

1 Dragoon

1 Scholar

1 Bard

 

As far as I know, this is a one tank fight, so we'd like to fill that spot with an extra DPS. So if 2 melee/1 ranged DPS and 1 WHM with some experience with the fight could help us out, we'd REALLY appreciate it! I believe we're all available tonight around 9pm (Eastern) to knock it out.

I'd be willing to help, but I'm a scholar (main, though she's decently geared that it might not make a difference). If you're willing to have another scholar come along I'd be happy to help that way or I also have a SMN that needs Titan for the relic. We've had some problems with two SCH in the past, but I have no idea how geared the other person was. If you're comfortable with using your SMN, we'll try that way first, you don't mind. :3

Hey there, Lutra/Rhesh'ir!

 

I, too, struggled with Titan HM until I decided to run him with my linkshell instead of PUGs. In short, I sympathise. Now, for what I have to offer. My Roegadyn's main class is WHM, his iLevel is 76 (last time I checked) and I would be more than willing to help you out! Unfortunately, I'm am from the UK, so I play on GMT. As such, the earliest I can help you out is Saturday.  If that's okay, feel free to hit me up in-game!

 

In case it's not, here's some pointers for Phase 5:

 

- Upon initiation of Phase 5, Titan will be MAAAAAAAAD! So, before he lands and Tumults y'all to death, make sure you have the following buffs and HoTs on as many party members as possible: Medica II, Galvanize (I forget it's buff), Regen, Stoneskin (not vital, but it helps a lot!). When he's jumping, this is when a WHM should pop both Presence of Mind and Divine Seal. AKA Fast, big heals. Whilst he's tumulting, spam your AoE heals (Medica and.... Succor? I think?). These buffs and HoTs tend to cause all havoc for aggro mitigation, so make sure you have a good tank on hand to grab Titan back from flattening the healers.

 

- During this phase his Rock Bombs will begin to spawn in a different formation, namely the "Three Lines" formation. When this happens, you need to run to the last line to spawn, as usual. Then as soon as the middle line blows up, run to the middle and you'll be all clear.

 

- You'll start to see Weight of the Land a heck of a lot more during this phase. There are multiple tactics to this, but my favourite is to have all the DPS and healers line up across the middle of the platform. When WotL pops, each party member can then use the Q and E keys to strafe out of the AoE. Little note: It seems you can only get out of WotL in time by using the direction keys. Apparently, running out diagonally takes too long?

 

- Finally, an attack exclusive to phase 5 (usually when he's below 25%): Mountain Buster! This is a frontal cone attack which should only hit the tank. This little beauty hits the tank for approximately 4000 HP (provenly more if it hits any other role... Stay out of this, it will one shot you!). The best ways to minimize the damage inflicted is to anticipate it around the 25% mark and use Stoneskin on the tank. Casting Virus and the Bard skill "Rain of Arrows" also help reduce it's damage ever so slightly.

 

Now, most of the tips I gave you would require a WHM. As such... Good luck finding one! Or, if you haven't found one by the weekend and gotten him down, hit me up! I could ask around in Broken Chairs, also, as we have some experienced players.

You only need 1 melee for this fight, not 3 (I mean you can have 3, but only need 1 as you need 1 bard) so you can take any DD.

Also, the easiest fights I ever saw were with 1 PAL, 2 SCH (one with each fairy), 1 WHM, 1 BRD, 1 Melee and the rest random DD. It allows more mistake and the WHM only has to hit during the core to make it work perfectly.

I can help you as WHM, SCH or BRD. All are geared with relic and I know the fight (and help often), you can call for me if you need .

Nebula also offer his help as SCH or BRD, so feel free to ask us.

 

And for the strat, as long as people can follow in part 5 and range can make a straight line there is no problem at all (and I can explain that in pm if you need).

Count me in. I have a i71 monk that can go. I rather go on SCH because I have done the fight so much I am great at healing it, haha. Actually if anyone ever needs it just send me a PM anytime. I usually put the call out over the team Roegadyn LS and we rush to the aid of the lesser races

There are plenty of volunteers in here, so I won't add to the fervor, but I will say that one thing that will really help you out is having at least one Summoner.  That way, if someone dies on the platform, the SMN can raise them instead of a healer (which really helps with healer mana).  Additionally, SMN can Bane DoTs off of Titan onto the Gaol if you make sure to run and stand as near to him as possible when you get targeted.

Second that, so very much! Thank you all for your willingness to help, and for the suggestions during the fight. I knew we'd get it before... but now we're gonna cream this d-bag.

Some general Titan tips:

 

- If you (or anyone else) is ever in a position where they're surrounded by WotLs, try to get to a spot where you are only hit by one, rather than multiple. As long as your health is kept up, you'll be alright.

- If a dps goes doing before the heart phase and is unavailable for a rez (i.e. got knocked off by Landslide), make sure to use Limit Break on the heart. It's entirely possible to get through this phase with one or two dps down.

- Going into p5, have everyone stay stacked where the gaoled individual was (remember, you don't break the second gaol from the heart phase until after the heart is dead). If you have a WHM, they should be precasting Divine Seal + Cure III to land right when Titan does his OMGRAGE aoe. If done right, this will bump pretty much everyone back up to full health immediately. As soon as that is out, the group needs to split in preparation for WotL.

- It helps if someone calls out over vent or macros into party chat where to move during the three row bomb sets in p5 (left, right, Titan, back). Remember to move across the room as soon as Landslide hits.

- Utilize Virus and that BLM Apocolkjasdfasdfwhatsit skill alternately to minimize Mountain Buster damage. Remember, he always does MB after Landslide in p5.

- Make sure the tank is stunning Tumults in p5 (during the third stomp).

- Healer tip in p5: Divine Seal + Swiftcast + Medica II is your friend. The combo is up for every Tumult. Get that going right before/as it starts and you have enough time to cast a Medica follow up buffer (if need be) before you need to move for WotL. This strategy brought to you by having to solo heal way too many Titan HMs.

 

If you need someone, I'm more than happy to heal the fight for you.

I need it but I don't HAVE to go as a SMN. Plus I'm doing my relic weapon quest with a guildmate (who also needs it for their BRD) so it's really okay if I do Titan again later. It's really whatever roles ya'll need filled to get this done.

Can't promise anything, but I might be available to help. 9/9 on my relics, and I can basically do the fight blind folded at this point, so no worries there. Both my Monk and Warrior are basically full iLvl 90 (minus one or two accesories on each) , but I can more or less fill whatever role (sans healing, as I trashed all my gear once I finished up my Thyrus and Omnilex.)

 

So if you aren't able to fill up and I'm not busy, I might be able to help you guys get a few attempts in.

Just wanted to leave a huge thanks for the tips and advice. I didn't realize you could stun tumults so I will be watching out for that when we get to phase 5 !
