Alothia Posted May 11, 2015 Share #301 Posted May 11, 2015 NOT KEEPING YOUR BODY FIT IS A BAD IDEA. GETTING ON A BICYCLE AFTER HAVING NOT RIDDEN ONE IN OVER A DECADE IS AND EVEN WORSE IDEA. I STILL THINK I'M SITTING ON A BICYCLE SEAT @_@ It's like going to an amusement park or a water park and still feeling the rides when you lie down to go to bed. Friggin' weirdest feeling EVER. And yeah...I know once I start trying to exercise with this apricot growing in me...that's gonna be so hard... Link to comment

Kage Posted May 11, 2015 Author Share #303 Posted May 11, 2015 In america, we can pretty much sue anything and anybody. It may or may not ever see court though. Reminds me of the man who sued god etc. I was about to re-post the post I made about it but I guess it was only tumblr. For a minute I thought "no way this happened" and then I remember it's America. Gegenji Posted May 11, 2015 Share #304 Posted May 11, 2015 This is a nation where someone sued McDonalds because their coffee was hot. And now we can add "someone tried to sue the gays ON BEHALF OF GOD" to the list. At the very least, the places where I've heard this being talked about has been in a mocking manner, because really. One of her arguments is "the reason gays were afraid to come out of the closet was because they know it's a sin." :frustrated: Link to comment
Kage Posted May 11, 2015 Author Share #305 Posted May 11, 2015 Well the thing with the McDonald's coffee was that the coffee really was that badly hot. Like way too hot, -scalding- hot. Burn and tear the flesh, scalding. The coffee served was between 180-190 degrees Fahrenheit. That is versus the 135-140 degrees Fahrenheit coffee served at home. Multiple cases in the years previous showed that just like in this case multiple people received 3rd degree burns. If the coffee was at 155 degrees it wouldn't have caused 3rd degree burns. And no one can even drink coffee at 180-190 degrees Link to comment
Gegenji Posted May 11, 2015 Share #306 Posted May 11, 2015 I suppose, but the general belief and consensus on the matter to the everyday layman is "person sued because coffee was hot." Basically, I wouldn't be surprised if this is just another bullet on the list somewhere of "Why the US is terrible." Which I guess is a totally valid concern, considering this sort of stuff is allowed to happen... even if I'd like to believe that no one is seriously believing this woman is in the right. Personally, I got more annoyed when I heard over the news about a guy who rioted in Baltimore and got arrested... and then complained about how he was going to miss work from getting arrested - and how that was going to hinder feeding his wife and kids. I'm sorry, but how is that the police's problem? If you didn't want to miss work, then you shouldn't have participated in a RIOT. Oh, and people complaining about some other rioters (students, I think) who broke the law being put in shackles. You know, to restrain them from attacking the police. Like what the rioters were often doing during the whole thing. But no, the police are in the wrong for trying to deal with the rioters and keep them from harming themselves and others. Then again, I live in Maryland, so this sort of nonsense hits me a lot closer to home. ... Not to mention that I got to hear a week's worth of news about all the protests and riots and whatnot because people can't let a peaceful protest be peaceful. Nope, gotta use that as a chance to burn down businesses and throw bricks at policemen! And if they get arrested, it's totally the POLICE's fault for arresting them! Link to comment
Kage Posted May 11, 2015 Author Share #307 Posted May 11, 2015 people in the us are horrible CHECK The amount of people who said "violence is the only way to be heard" is scary. The amount of people who quoted Martin Luther King Jr about practically regretting and rejecting peaceful protest. i get protesting. I don't get throwing shit around, burning peoples' livelihoods. What's it do but get people to hate you? Like a fucking student protest I saw on youtube that happened during finals over (still) the same movement. They stopped people from going through. They -physically- would not let people walk on their way to school, and that people who were trying to get to class that way were IGNORING THEM AND SHIT!!111 Yes, cause people to miss midterms and finals. Fuck them! CAUSE THEY WILL SO LIKE YOUR CAUSE NOW WHEN YOU DO SHIT TO OTHERS. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted May 11, 2015 Share #308 Posted May 11, 2015 IIRC there was an academic that did a study here about public workers' union protesting success and population approval rating, and saw there was zero correlation between the two. In short, public opinion doesn't matter as to whether your protest works because chances are the moment you started protesting (regardless of method) they were against you anyway. also don't think i've ever seen a peaceful protest actually yield anything of interest in the past 20 years but y'know i could be wrong. nor have i seen a peaceful protest get continuous media coverage as well. a protest gets a day, maybe. a riot gets weeks. nothing new under the sun tho. 1 Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted May 12, 2015 Share #309 Posted May 12, 2015 so my internet is dead as fuck, my computer crashes on windows boot and I have no idea why. if it's my new vid card that did this I will be very unhappy. EDIT : INTERNET HAS RETURNED, vid card still wonky, but downgraded to an earlier driver and everything seems fine... SOMEHOW. So, my guess is that the newest driver from nvidia does not like playing old ass games that are insultingly archaic in design (witcher 1) Link to comment

Sailor July Posted May 12, 2015 Share #311 Posted May 12, 2015 Since it's so actively on my mind... People who blame rappers for what goes on in the world (this could be kids acting up in school to more serious events.) People who think what rappers rap about equals who they are as a person. People who are so offended by rap in general. I rap. I also am a huge fan of Eminem, as both an idol as a rapper AND a person. I hear so much crap about how his music is so bad, how he's so horrible, blah blah. The same goes for other favorites. It's ridiculous. Link to comment

Spethah Posted May 12, 2015 Share #314 Posted May 12, 2015 Conservatives won, I'm at risk of losing more money. It's hard enough living on your own on disability benefits and my parents don't want me back (it's not that they hate me, we just clash a lot if we're under the same room for too long) and now I might be expected to live on even less? There's a reason why I'm unfit for work. Don't put me through that trauma again. Link to comment

Gegenji Posted May 12, 2015 Share #316 Posted May 12, 2015 Project Manager: We need to have this done by the end of the week. Me: Isn't this not due until the end of July? Project Manager: We have other projects, I want this done as soon as possible. ... What other projects? I haven't heard anything about them. Why aren't we working on those as well? Why keep pushing for the SHORTEST TIME FRAME POSSIBLE? And, continuing on the same thread as my previous rants, why keep pushing all this at ME? I made the fixes to the Admin pages, I wrote the stored procedures, I updated and populated the tables, and I'm helping the other guy who is unfamiliar with Entity Frameworks and seems dead-set on having a Stored Procedure written to populate a dropdown rather than automatically linking to the table using Entity Framework. Said other guy's only other task so far has to been to add a dropdown that appears when an option is chosen and has a list that I already populated for him appear in it. And then update the save code to include the information from this new dropdown. And it's taken him at least two weeks now and he's NOT DONE. And now he's trying to get me to do all the reports stuff too. Stating I can just look at his (sloppy) code in the other project we're working on (and I'm not even sure if it's done yet, he doesn't check things in so I have no clue of his progress) and copy it over. Yes, let's have me do ALL THE WORK while you take a month to add a dropdown to a page. Yes. Thank you. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted May 12, 2015 Share #317 Posted May 12, 2015 I wanted to write a bug report just to spite you but instead, as I have been in that situation this past week, have an internet hug. It really sucks when you're staring at someone's workrate and they're dropping balls all over that you have to pick up. (I think the worst part I had to deal with was doing a check that requires 10 active computers to do with only 4 people and being more efficient than if we had 10 people) Link to comment
ShoggMommy Posted May 18, 2015 Share #318 Posted May 18, 2015 I know it's not political or anything but... My cat can be a butt and get into places I don't expect her to. I wish headset wires weren't so thin, or they were made with better rubber. Ugh. Cheap rubber on awesome headsets suck. My cat found and destroyed my 150$ klipsch headset after I had put it out of her reach. she still managed to get it. Link to comment
Addison Posted May 21, 2015 Share #319 Posted May 21, 2015 I dislike people who call up the clinic to complain about services they received, swearing up and down that they did not authorize their pet to be anesthetize when the consent form clearly shows that they clearly signed their signature next to it, and then accuse me of swindling them as well as forging medical documents. Have fun at your next veterinarian's office. You won't be missed. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted May 23, 2015 Share #320 Posted May 23, 2015 So my car got rear-ended while I was patiently waiting in traffic. Delilah Scythewood Posted May 23, 2015 Share #322 Posted May 23, 2015 To all of you folks who go out to eat at fast food joints, sub shops, and little eateries: Please be respectful and mindful of the staff. We work to provide for ourselves as much as you all do. And it really fucking sucks that we bite our tongues and get treated like dirt when there's three of us trying to fulfill 20+ orders at a time and in order without any mistakes while sweating in the desert heat around ovens, microwaves, burning our hands and nearly slipping on what falls to the floor... Had some people come in, see our line FULL of orders, and who have the audacity to be like "Where's my food?" It's in the order it came in, you fat fuck. : / 10 people were before you. Wait your turn. If you don't like it, go to McDonald's. 1 Link to comment

Maveree Posted June 30, 2015 Share #324 Posted June 30, 2015 A-few-days-ago vent. After a year of working within one of the most lovely restaurants in town, I received my first belligerent [potential] costumer! *Marks the date on the calendar* It's Father's Day (or was it the day before? hmm), and we get swamped every holiday. Frankly, we've a small kitchen and are generally understaffed by about one pair of hands at any given time throughout the restaurant. I was doing /great/ handling hostessing and busting at the same time as I normally do with the manager occasionally spotting the door and reservation list as needed. We finally reach critical mass, the kitchens are over loaded because after two groups coming in, one consisting of twenty some odd people, the other thirty, well... three cooks are going to have a handful. As such, we went on a twenty minute table wait to work through that mess. Far better to give costumers the chance to go to someplace where they can eat sooner than have them wait fourty for food, right? THAT'S WHEN IT HAPPENED. Group comes in, no big deal. Says there's three of them. I inform them of the table wait, offer to take their names and give them a pager; they look out into the dining room and ask, "What? I see at least three tables open right there." "Well, sir, our kitchen is currently overloaded due to large reservations coming in around the same time," I reply. He stares at me for a split second as though gears just clicked in his head and I continue to smile apologetically at him, waiting for a response. "Terrible service, good bye," he quickly says, turning on his heels and ushering the other two (assumedly wife and child) out the door. "Sorry for the inconvenience, have a nice day!" I shout after them. After that, it seriously took all of my composure to not burst out laughing at how childish he was. I was seriously baffled by his behaviour. Laughed about it to my manager, even. Do people really not realise that throwing a tantrum over not being instantly gratified is seriously... off? @A@ Link to comment
Nanaki Posted June 30, 2015 Share #325 Posted June 30, 2015 2 weeks ago my vacation time for the expansion was cancelled the day before early access by my boss, so he could have the weekend off. Last week...85 hours scheduled and worked. This week, my 3-day weekend for the holiday has been bumped down to two (possibly one since my boss is taking vacation again) 1 day off in the last 19. 12+ hour shifts each day. So frustrating Somebody get the shovel, I'll need buried by week's end. Link to comment
