I kinda like this idea. I want to volunteer Hien for the pen-pal thing anyway because it sounds like fun, but this would be really interesting too. Hien is a collector of books and I could absolutely see him stumbling across one of these tomes. He'd probably end up a little obsessed with trying to figure out how it works and who the people he can apparently talk to are - if they're real people at all. But it'd definitely be a fun way to do 'meet' people.

It's disappointing that people would do that on a frequent basis just because your character is a Lalafel. Personally, I'd never turn away a chance at RP based on the race of the other player, but like the other said before me, I'd imagine it has something to do the more ERP inclined roleplayers around the Quicksand not wanting to get into... things... with a lalafel? Either way, yeah... Thats both disappointing and odd. They might look small but they're not children and I don't know why people can't get their heads around that idea. They're often portrayed as quite clever and scheming in the game, so thats just a player misconception I guess. I don't see Lalafel as non-serious, and I've met a couple of roleplayers who play them just like any other character. Its a shame that others are being so weird about it. I'm sure its their loss but I can see how it'd be frustrating coming up against that over and over again. I don't know. People can be dumb... I guess...

This is how I feel right now. I've been thinking about paying for another server transfer and now I don't have to. *dances* That's one good thing to come out of random server blips I guess.

I think something strange may be going on with the servers. I got kicked the same as you just a short while ago.... 2k queue to get back in... then immediately 90k'd again and back in a 3k queue now. I think the servers may just be having an issue.

I do this too and I was actually wondering whether it was a thing I could get a way with, since we have no normal looking horses and Sleipnir is probably closest thing we have... Now I feel better about doing it.

Welcome to the RPC. I think I know where you're coming from when you say you're a bit hesitant to get involved. I've bounced in and out of this game a few times (friends bailing, having issues with confidence in RP, bad experiences etc), but the best way is to really just bite the bullet, so to speak, and throw yourself in there. Which is easier said than done sometimes. If you're interested, I'm always keen to make new friends in game and almost always down for RP. If you're one for shady characters and looking for a friend, my character is a thief/smuggler and would be more than happy to make a new contact. I can't seem to stick with 'good' characters very much myself, so mine always end up being at least a little shady. Anyway, welcome to the RPC and I hope you find some people to hang around with in game. The LS/FC section is probably getting cleared out soon to flush out the inactives, but there's a big list of RP Free Companies and Linkshells that might help you in your search.

Personally, I would be really, really interested in seeing something like this. I'm not sure I can help much with the questions you're asking as I've personally, never run a large scale RP event like this outside of shenanigans with a few friends, but I just wanted to raise my hand as say that I would be very interesting in participating if you did end up setting something up.

Niko sounds really interesting. My male keeper character was also recently in Ishgard and with an interest in the Machinists guild, but he's currently hanging around in the Shroud at the moment. I'm sure I can find a reason for Raih'a to head to Ul'dah for a bit though if you'd be interested in RPing with another random person. I'm Raih'a Lyehga in game (and here). I have a partial character profile here (its still a work in progress though), and I can chat in game or via messages here if you'd like to know anything or would be interested in some RP.

For the male styles, I was kind of hoping that either of the first two runners up would win. The actual winner isn't bad but I thought the other two were much better choices. Ah well, the female one looks nice anyway.

Like was said above, some people will be fine with it, others will have an issue and prefer not to RP with you over it. I guess it depends on whether that bothers you enough not to play that idea. And you don't have to tell the details of the backstory to every casual RP acquaintance you meet so it won't really affect anyone other than the people you RP with on a regular basis (those most likely to be confronted with it if/when she discovers what she is). As long as they are fine with it and you're having fun with the character I don't see why you shouldn't do it. Personally, I'd say go for it if you find the idea fun. You'll find people who'd be ok with it, myself included. I'm fairly flexible when it comes to lore as long as its not crazy (demi-gods, insane god-moddy abilities etc) and I think there are plenty of others out there too. That said I don't know a great deal about Allagan lore. I don't think there's anything in there that specifically says such a thing is absolutely impossible...

I would do this but the space we have in the search info is so abysmally small there's no room left after putting in the [RP] tag and a small character note as hook to those who might use it. I wish we could have a tiny bit more space in there.

I can understand why you'd want to split it over several weeks. Maybe you could do it every other month, so the Champion(s) get to hold their titles for a month between each tournament, and you don't get burned out trying to organize such big events every week (keeping with the one-event-per-week idea). If you had enough people to help then it might be possible to do it once a month over the course of a single week, but it'd still be a pretty big undertaking. It would make for an amazing event, but it would be incredibly intensive for the organizers. I think tweaking the rules so that only one of those events is needed to win the Grand Champion would probably be best. Unless you want to simply condense it into one event and open it up to combatants facing off against either type of opponent. I have never run a combat style event before so I don't know for sure, but that might be tricky to do and keep fair at the same time. I'd say the easiest option would for the Grand Champion to require a win in only their own specific discipline (martial or magical).

This sounds like a lot of fun. My character isn't much of a fighter but he'd definitely come along to watch.

From here, suggests that they're deliberately throttling log ins to our data center. If so I assume they'll ease up on that as the mad rush subsides (either because people are getting in or, more likely, because they've just given up and gone to bed/work/other life stuff). Its going to be like 2.0 - unless you're logging in during EU/NA quiet times you're going to be playing the log in game. At least for the weekend, maybe for the rest of the week.

It'll ease up eventually. Its kind of frustrating but so far the errors haven't been as bad as 2.0 launch when a good chunk of people were stuck the whole weekend getting the 'character still logged in' error. If I remember right most of us with that ended up loosing the entire weekend of early access waiting on someone to unstick our characters for us. Still, would be nice to be able to get past the log-in servers at least... Tried five hours ago and still can't get past the 2002 error. >.< Guess I'll be watching movies for the rest of the night and try to log in at a crazy hour of the morning tomorrow.

I've heard there are queues, but not ones that will make your eyes bleed out your skull. However I expect that once prime time starts around mm...2pm PST it'll be even busier. I've logged in and out a few times this morning and the longest queue I've had was about 30 people. So, its a lot better than the last launch. >.> I missed all of the shenanigans this morning though.
