balmung Magitek lover looking for airship engineers
KitKat replied to Valence's topic in Chronicled Connections
I play a character who is exactly what you're looking for. What times do you normally play? I'm usually about from 10pm to 5am eastern US time. If that works for you, we can bump into each other sometime! -
Heeeey. I just found this. Just repurposed Kat for grand airship adventures, both shady and legit. If you're looking for a mechanic who doubles as a wannabe sky pirate, Kat's your girl. She's not looking to lead any kind of group as she's more a follower than a leader, but if folks want to IC explore the Diadem, we can totally use my FC airship to head on in. Feel free to friend add me or send a tell if you see me online. My play times are usually pretty late, though: 10pm to about 5:30am eastern US time. I can occasionally hop on earlier than that, but it's sporadic.

Gaslight Anthem is my current flavor of the month.

I've killed three different versions of Kat trying to find one that will stick. I'll find something or I will keep trying. No problem killing a character here.

Is politely correcting someone's grammar/spelling offensive? Why?
KitKat replied to LadyRochester's topic in RP Discussion
I'm a bit of a spelling and grammar freak. Even then, I'll only correct people that I know are open to being corrected. -
That is the official one SE made.

I put in a request for this because it seems like a wonderful idea. Looking forward to meeting one of you.

balmung Looking for nomadic-style RP (Not an FC)
KitKat replied to Eses Fafa's topic in Chronicled Connections
My au ra, Katai Dataq is actually doing this very thing. Wandering the world just to experience it all. Without a dedicated group, it's kind of difficult. I'd love to meet up with your character, but I'm thinking that our time zones don't quite line up. I'm eastern US, but I am around late to super-late nights, almost giving myself an Australian schedule. If I math it out, I'm GMT-5 so my play times are... 3am-10:30am GMT. Doubtful they match up well. -
But they -did- approach the topic you put to them. You're twisting the context to suit your desires. Like it was said a couple posts ago, walking with a pebble in your shoe is harder to deal with than PMS. A superpowered amazon She-ra dark knight would likely be able to cope with the symptoms (very minor ones, at that) much more easily than a normal woman because she's fucking She-ra and she ain't got no time fo dat PMSin.

Not from their ovaries, I can tell you that much. No but the hormones affect the emotional states.. really are you really only reading selected lines you feel like it? Because you're being really daft right now. I think what's got people up in arms is that this entire thread has read like you were fishing for plausibility because you've already RP'd your character this way. Whenever someone would say that periods are not really likely to have much effect on these things, you chime in and say "yeah, but what if...." If you accepted their criticism and advice on the topic, it wouldn't have gotten nearly as far as it has.

We can remove Sarnai Khatayin from the list and replace her with Katai Dataq (I got tired of there being a lot of people named Sarnai so I rage-changed).

But she's not a lesbian. She and that other pirate guy have a thing/not-thing going on. And the bar isn't a lesbian bar. One of the NPCs explicitly says "The Sirens don't 'ave time for men, unless they's warmin' our beds." Please don't say untrue things and try to pass them off as true. It's called the 'Missing Member'. It might not strictly be a 'Lesbian Bar' but it's very clearly a female centric gathering point, primarily built around empowerment of female sexuality, and disliking of the 'ol gravy hose (at least on premises). I agree it's not 100% portrayed as a Lesbian bar, but I think there are enough hints to treat it as such. It's like if there was a bar in Ul'dah called, "The Throbbing Cock" and only dudes were there, and the NPCs were saying 'Heh, women are lame'. One could assume it was in fact a gay bar, even if there wasn't a male NPC shouting 'I LOVE DICK'. But there's specifically a female NPC saying exactly that outside the Missing Member. The bar is, and -only- is, a female-centric bar. Claiming it is a lesbian bar is untrue. Bringing a lesbian character to the bar is fine. But let's not spout off facts that are, in fact, not facts. Facts are: There are no hints that it is a lesbian bar. The captain, Rhoswen (a female), was ready and willing to be matched up with the rival pirate, Carvallain (a male) in the Valentione's quests. The female NPC (nameless) outside of the doors says what I said earlier. O'kalkaya, who stands at the edge of the bridge leading to the Missing Member, says "...Just watch yer tongue 'round Cap'n Rhoswen! Last man that didn't? Well, 'e's a member no more, if ye catch me drift." This suggests that the name of the bar isn't because men are unwelcome and it's full of lesbians, but because a man pissed her off and she cut his junk off. Now, I'm done derailing this topic, but I thought I'd jump in to make sure that when people say things, they make sure they're stating facts.

The Monk trainer does indeed wear the gear but there's absolutely zero mention of it being a traditional sect uniform. In fact, the opposing sect in the 50-60 monk questline all wear dyed versions of the AF1 set. Edit to add: There is actually zero mention of his gear at all. He's just simply wearing it.

Prenerf T7 ruins more friendships than Mario Kart and Mario Party combined.

The overwhelming majority of people I meet in DF are friendly and forgiving. It isn't until you hit the raids that people start raising their hackles, and even then they typically just spam Vote Abandon or drop on their own.

Four of us queued up for Alexander 1 and 2 yesterday for the first time. Not one of us watched a video or read any strategy. Nobody in party chat explained anything. And we 2-shot A1 and 1-shot A2. It's very friendly to blind runs.

I have a crazy theory about primals. (Some general 3.0 spoilers)
KitKat replied to Marisa's topic in FFXIV Discussion
How to spoiler code? Is Final Coil worth spoiler-warning? Eh, whatever. Final Coil would give you the answer to the Light-aspected Primal, if your theory was to be correct. -
If you're going to be technical about it, they were in the expansion. SE just didn't turn them on. And they explicitly said they would not be immediately available, oh I don't know, a hundred times. Is two weeks really that much of a problem? It would have taken you nearly those two weeks just to get the i170 required to enter Alexander anyway. Would it have made much of a difference if they made it available to enter immediately even though it takes nearly 2 weeks to grind up to 60 and then gear out for it? You're acting like a petulant child.

I RP'd with Maariya. You should too. She's fun!

Oh, but when I tried to get Domri killed, I didn't have your support then! The betting real gil idea was just as a means of compensating the people taking the time out to involve themselves and is by no means something that has to happen. I never intended it to be really expensive, either. Grassroots level, 50-1,000 gil probably (because of the seedy element of cheating and whatnot, but that can be RPed with fake currency too). Nothing that will be missed. Since there's a lot of opposition to the concept, it's easily discarded. If I can get enough people to do 2 or 3 fights, maybe I can push to do this on July 13th (two Mondays from now).
-
Time would probably be Mondays sometime between 5pm and 10pm Eastern US time to start. But that's dependent upon my current schedule, and I'm in the process of hiring into a new job. So I'm not quite sure yet. An alternative (but one that I think sounds better on paper than in practice) is to do the underground scene properly and do random days and times.

So, I've had this idea rattling around in my head for a while and I'm deciding to try and see if other people like it. I've observed the Grindstone and its booming popularity from afar, never really having characters to interact there much. With my recent reroll, that might change, but that's going off on a tangent. Anyway, I (and many others, obviously) enjoy that combat RP, the thrill of competition, and all of that made me realize there's an entire other side to these kinds of events. Where the Grindstone focuses on the training and combat atmosphere, I want to run a different sort of event from my FC house. I want to host some fights where the focus is less on the combat (though there will obviously be a good portion of focus on that), and more on the sport and the gambling. These fights would be bare knuckle brawls that spectators would be encouraged to place bets on. There would be other forms of gambling available at the house, including possible Triple Triad tournaments and any other house games. I toyed around with Blackjack using the /random dice roller, but I think a rolz room would be more suitable to something like that. TL;DR Would you be interested in: -Fighting, spectating, or betting on underground bare knuckle brawls -Other games of chance, for RP or real gil -Triple Triad tournaments for real gil -Illegal or borderline-illegal activities: drug trade, information trade, den of iniquity-type things -Paying a small, real gil cover charge to pay some of the participants (fighters, tournament winners, etc) If any of these things are something you'd like to participate in, especially as a fighter or employee, let me know!
