I know what you mean! What kind of black mage does NOt say "Fire!" when casting a Fire spell? I don't know much about macros or if it's possible to do sounds in them... All I know is some people have been macro-ing their crafting so they can craft nice and quick without hurting their fingers and without wasting potential xp by using quick synthesis.

But it's 6 more hours starting at 2am PDT... I was sleeping! T_T

On the topic of economy... You know that story quest where the guy asks that you equip a level 5 item in a bunch of equipment slots? You know how quests reward with everything except pants? On Balmung, I bought lvl 5 pants for 10 gil au the merchant board (auction house). If that's not cool newbie-friendly economy, I don't know what is. Of course on Gilgamesh you can get the Silver Anvil brand of lvl 5 pants, though. (I really wish we could put a brand name on our crafted stuff, that would rock. o_o ) Anyways, give us some news about how things are on Behemoth, if I suffer from alticism, I might have a little alt there. I still don't have a Lala character.

Tell you friend to try and create character very early or very late, if possible, to avoid peak hours. There should be no problem then. Otherwise, there will be waiting involved...

Balmung is full of those names too. We have a Namespot thing going on in Immersion (you know, the OOC RPC Linkshell) where we name the really funny or horrible ones. Also, I'd like to point out that this kind of "panic" thread is rather unhelpful for those of us trying to build a RP community on Gilgamesh. You don't want to roll there, fine, no one has any right to argue. But to claim loud and clear that the server is bad for us scares would-be RPers away. One could argue it's a good thing to warn them... but I say it's a better thing to let them judge by themselves.

You're making it sound like that's they're goal. It's not. They just want to be together, like everyone else who belong to a group of any us (say, us). This whole us against them point ov view needs to shift if we are to coexist.

I asked a guy who had a strong dislike of RPers about this... His answer made sense. In his eyes, what Role-playing means his nothing more than having a character to represent him in the game world. To him that's all playing a role is. And it's a perfectly legit definition I mean it doesn't -have- to go any further. Yet there are people (us) who claim that it's not RPing, that RPing goes further than that, and they (us) start making demands and acting superior like we know better, we are better, and we bitch about immersion... To him us so-called RPer were just weird creeps taking it too far. And all those stereotypes and ERPphobia don't help. As much as it pained me I could kinda understand where the guy came from.

The whole economy thing is a myth. There's been massive changes in how crafting works and vendors sell moko grass for 2gil apiece so it's just not possible for gatherers to put crazy high prices for mats and crafters can make a profit without crazy prices too. As for 4chan and reddit... 4chan is on Ultro and Redditors are no worse than your average gamer with no special affiliation. The only Reddit-specific thing I've seen on Gilgamesh was a friendly guy advertising for a FC-to-be called Reddit Reborn and that's it. That said, the reason Behemoth doesn't have its own subsection.. is there hasn't been a demand for it. It's my understanding that to have its own subsection there has to be a significant portion of our community playing there. I believe there are RPers on Behemoth... but not many are here. Some suggested going there instead of Giglamesh, but it was 50/50 and they didn't move in the end. You might have more luck asking on the official forums, since that's where the idea to RP on Behemoth originated. Also, this is totally the right section. I think.

A few helpful facts... - There are trolls everywhere. - Using 4chan or Reddit or ANYTHING else doesn't make someone a troll. - Fear gives troll powers and pulls you to the dark side of the f- err, wrong universe. - People who don't like RP or RPers and find out they rolled on The Unofficial RP Server or some shit are obviously going to be mad and react accordingly to RPers. If it was an officially labelled RP server and they rolled there, then they would be trolls for sure because they knew... but keep in mind, no where does it say Warning: Presence of RPers to alert anyone to our presence. But yeah don't forget trolls want you to react. I know, I trolled before. Not RPers (I was a RPer before I had internet access), but people talking politics or religion in one mmo or another's general channel. I still do that, it can be so funny. Seriously. You have to expect a flame war bringing religion or politics into a mmo... I mean my granpda has a No Politics At The Table rule (which he always breaks) and we're just between family members! Imagine strangers hidden by the anonimity of the internet! So yeah, that's more or less troll mentality for you. If no one reacts, it's boring.

Nice work, there! Also the Silver Anvil is in there with an OOC Linkshell and some of us were already high enough level to grab a crafting class when I logged out yesterday. o_o

Everyone wants to try the nw stuff, it's perfectly normal! What is NOT normal is being booted from a conversation due to another player. o_o Anyways, I'm planning to try it out, but maybe I'll do so by grabbing the class on my Legacy charries instead. o_O

QFT. Kudos for that field guide, it gave me a new perspective on Tavern RP that I strangely never thought about. My solutions to dealing with trolls in the past have been either to ignore (not very efficient) or counter-troll (the troll either feels ashamed of their failure and leaves or treats you as a bro for your trolling skillz, I've seen both happen). Still planning to try your sugegstion and see how it goes. All in all, we just gotta remember that those people are humans, just like us.
