I love this setting and plot a heck of a lot more than I would Garlemald, since we just had an entire expansion of fighting the empire. I just hope there's an easy way to travel between the Source and the First for RP, and it won't be a "WoL only" thing.

Are Miqo'te an Eorzean-only race, or do we know if some exist on other continents like Hyur and Roegadyn do? Or in other words, would it be out of place to have a Miqo from Dalmasca?
-
I wonder if Balmung will be locked from server crossing too, and not just full on transfers. I'm glad Mateus is grouped with Coeurl though, I have several friends on there.
-
Do we know if Dalmasca is on Ilsabard or Othard? I'd been assuming Ilsabard, but then in 4.4

Ramza really surprised me, I'd been expecting just XII references.

What do you mean by "works"? The lives of its citizens and how they're handling living under the empire for 20 years. Doma had that subplot about its civilians in Yanxia, with that boy and his little sister and the villagers getting forcibly recruited to work at the nearby castrum. How we got a good long look at Au Ra society in the Steppe. What Ala Mhigo needed was to slow down and look at its society and civilians. The closest that comes to mind is the village with Lyse in the Peaks in the beginning, but it was over much quicker than the Yanxia village.

The Far East stuff honestly killed my desire to go through the MSQ and I only just today finished slogging through to 70 because of it. I just had absolutely no interest in Doma, Hien, Yotsuyu, the Steppe, or anything. The only part I enjoyed was Gosetsu, and even then his made me upset. And in the end it's like everything we did over there didn't even matter considering the Doman army had no presence in the climax. They only showed up for Hien to kill some Garlean robots, something anyone could have done. Maybe it's just because I'm still new to the game and so Heavensward's story completely blowing me away is still fresh in my mind, but I really think the story suffered by splitting the focus between Doma and Ala Mhigo. For an expansion whose announcement trailer focused on Lyse and was set in Rhalgr's Reach, it feels like the actual focus on Ala Mhigo was lacking. We didn't get a real look at the way Ala Mhigo works like we did the au ra or Domans (now if only I had been interested in what we saw of those). I love RDM though, glad I subbed for it! I'm curious to see where this Omega stuff goes too, and mechanically the quests feel good with things like that new action button. I liked the QTE in Shinryu too, just to shake fights up a bit. Preferably without killing me for failing it next time though.

I'm slowly catching up to everyone, working my way through Heavensward (and loving it!), but after meeting Tiamat a thought occurred to me. Is there anything about how, if at all, the Dravanians reacted to Bahamut's return in the Calamity?

Jeanne does not enjoy combat and tries to avoid it. That said, if forced into a fight she tends to be more of a melee fighter than most Red Mages. Jeanne focuses on empowering her sword first and foremost, and will usually only stand back and cast spells if forced into it. To her, this better shows a desire to protect. However, one spell Jeanne relies on quite often even while within melee range is conjuring blades of ice to fire at her opponents (Fleche and Contre Sixte look really cool ok)

I'm still in the midst of leveling Heavensward so haven't met quite everybody yet, let alone the new people in Stormblood, but so far it's Alphinaud. I don't know if that sounds like a pretty generic statement or not. I do miss his ARR voice though. As for more minor characters, hm... Hildibrand is an obvious choice! But a more serious take? Maybe ...gosh I can't remember his name, but the rival/villain in the Lancer questline before you become a Dragoon. I sympathized with his story a lot, even if I get the feeling I wasn't supposed to.

Would it be too "snowflakey" to have a Moogle tagging along with me IC through the wind-up pet, given their association with Seedseers?

Ah, ok. =x

Oop, yeah, spoilered it.

This is something from the first RDM quest.

Here's some stuff the RDM questgiver had to say:

It's "Hello, Heavensward!" for me, I saved the 3.0 MSQs for Red Mage. Means I won't have to go through the crowded Stormblood zones right away either. I'll catch up in a couple weeks!
-
Woohoo, excited! I saved Heavensward MSQs for Red Mage, can't wait to get started on those, can't wait to play the class I subbed for, can't wait to learn what their story is all about! Eastern aesthetic isn't really my thing, but I have to say those new zones look really great. Maybe I'll learn to love the Far East like I did Pandaria (best WoW expansion don't fight me).

Unfortunately, I do believe it's more of the latter. The place may be vaguely inspired by the realm of Ivalice, but it is a Hydaelynian (?) take on it. I believe there was a quote somewhere about it, since I think there were a bunch of similar questions that got asked when the raid name was announced. I thought there was a fairly strong theory that the Ivalice from Vagrant Story and the Ivalice from FFXIV may, in fact, be the same place, just in far separated timelines? Vagrant Story's Ivalice is the same one from FFXII and Tactics. There's a book you can find in Vagrant Story recounting Ramza's story, and the religion that the founder of LeĆ” Monde in Vagrant Story was a part of was Light of Kiltia, the same religion in XII. A short while ago I found this Ivalice timeline someone pieced together.

I'd prefer wolf people over viera. Pls SE. By the Twelve no, I would muuuuch prefer Viera over these guys as a playable race. Sure they'd just be another 'cutesy' race, but it would be interesting to see how they work in male Hydaelan Viera as opposed to the FFXII Ivalicean Viera (who will hopefully be seen in the 24-man). Yeah, question about that. This Return To Ivalice raid - do we know anything about it, like if it's the actual Ivalice or a place in Hydaelyn named after Ivalive like Doma? I'm firmly in "eh it's okay" territory with FFXII, but Ivalice is probably my favorite setting in the entire series and I'd love seeing more. As for possible Scion deaths, as long as it's not either of the twins.

Probably Indigo/Compassion, but Blue/Hope is my favorite oath. -
I was online (but not involved) when the RPM linkshell was having a heated discussion about this earlier today, and as he says foxfirestorm quickly put an end to it, as was right of him to do. Though I haven't seen any of that talk aside from today, but I'm not on either Discord server so I can't comment on those. That said I don't think it's entirely unwarranted for some of the people who were on Mateus from the start to be put off by the influx of players and sudden changes happening to their server. I'm not saying to just let bashing another server go or anything, but do look at it from their perspective: a small tight-knight community, which may have been the reason they chose Mateus in the first place, has suddenly grown so much in the last few weeks. I mean I definitely don't like change, so I can imagine how they feel. Not that it excuses being an ass. It's still a new situation Mateus is going through, there's going to be growing pains. Now those growing pains will need to be actively handled (which they are!) and not just "Oh we'll sit back and let it work itself out", but we all knew, or should've known, that they were coming.

I agree Valic, that map is much better. Ridiculously so.
