Takakamo Onsen and Tea House Grand Opening
Shizuno posted an event in RPC General Community Calendar
Takakamo Onsen and Tea House is having its Grand Opening! Tomorrow, September 16th, beginning at Noon PST, the Onsen and Tea House will be officially opening its doors to patrons in Ward 3 at Plot 32 in Shirogane. The location features an extensive bathhouse with two outdoor baths, hidden in a woodsy little nook, offering guests natural cover while the relax. Inside, visitors can find four large baths, two on the ground floor and two on the bottom floor. For those coming unprepared for bathing, there is a changing room just inside to the left. Furthermore, downstairs also features a wide selection of fresh teas, grown on the premises for purchase. If you drop by, be sure to sign the guestbook! For a little bit of further OOC information, this is a small bathhouse run by myself almost exclusively, out of my private cottage. If anyone would like to work IC at the bathhouse, feel free to let me know! I will be around for the vast majority of the day tomorrow, and hope to see some visitors. However, after the opening tomorrow, anyone and everyone is free to use the space and come and go as they like - it is meant to be a free RP area after all! Hope to see you there! -

balmung the night nurse [miqo'te rogue-healer]

I keep poking you and seem to have the worst timing. We still need to RP! -
So I got ahold of Mhaya, but Maariya, I can't seem to find you! When do you usually play?
-
Rin is 28, so still pretty middle of the road I suppose?
-
She sounds like some fun! I wouldn't mind RPing with you, if you're interested! If you see me online, just gimme a poke.
-
*kicks thread* I'm looking for some more RP buddies if anyone else is interested!

I feel the need to mention the not-as-popular FFs. Specifically Tactics (and Advanced, as well. A2, less so.) But even more so, Crystal Chronicles. I remain to this day convinced that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles on Gamecube was one of the best co-op gaming experiences ever made. I've yet to find a game that I've replayed that much with friends. Coming in as my favorite game from way back though would have to be the Tales games - Tales of Destiny, Tales of Symphonia, Abyss, etc. The series as a whole is probably one of my favorite series, if not my my favorite overall. Great stories and fun combat - all you ever need. And then another big one was Monster Hunter. The original on PS2, using the bulky as all hell network adapter that was also used with FFXI. I spent more hours in the original MH than all of the sequels combined (My main character had nearly 3000 hours on it), and none of them have pulled me in the way the original did. And I still can't figure out why. And lastly of course there's Pokemon. It's pretty difficult to find someone who grew up in the 90s that didn't have anything to do with the series, and for me, Blue was one of my first video games that was mine alone and not the family's, so it's got a pretty big spot in my heart. There's others too, like ones that have been mentioned already (Kingdom Hearts, Golden Sun) but there's tons others that just didn't have as big of an impact overall. I mean, god knows I spent hours upon hours just screwing around in Star Wars: Battlefront (and 2), but I think I hit the big ones. Oh, and Star Ocean: Til the End of Time.

balmung Fortune Teller Seeking Connections
Shizuno replied to Kai Motokawa's topic in Chronicled Connections
Oh! Count me in! Rin would definitely be interested, and fortune telling is always fun. -
Hey, can't hurt to make another friend. And Khuma sounds like fun.
-
I am indeed. It worked out beautifully for Rin's character.

Something else to possibly keep in mind here too is that the civilization in XIV isn't necessarily the same as current day. I mean, look at the difference in prices of things now against the same item just 30 years ago. Prices change immensely within the span of a few years, and that's even more so in recent years. Now, that said, it's hard to judge where we stand because the cost of things is so imprecise. It'd just be nice to get like a ballpark answer of what an average citizen makes in a week and work off costs from there, but the game doesn't seem to give us any answers there.

I have a new character I just made that could work for this. I am getting in touch with you!
-
She's actually looking for someone to work for her as a live-in, since she owns her own house. That said, I'll try to catch up with you in game at some point.

I've actually been using the horns' ability to sense soundwaves and the like as a sixth sense for Rin, since she's blind. She's been training herself to make use of them in two ways - First, in a way similar to sonar, she's able to use sounds around her to paint a picture in some sense so she has a good idea of her surroundings. Of course, it's basically only enough to not walk into walls and avoid things. Second is just the strength of the sense itself. She's trying to train herself to be able to pick up more minuscule sounds like the rustling of clothing and the like to help her decipher what people are doing. She already has this skill more or less developed in the sense that she can guess, for example, when people stand or wave based on the sound it makes. However, she's trying to deepen that ability now.

Hey everybody! So, I've come to the point where I'm looking for some new RP partners, and figured I may as well put some feelers out on the good ol' RPC. For those who don't know, Rin is a blind huntress of sorts, who is often out gathering herbs and other plants for herself and the Archers' Guild. You can check her wiki page in my sig if you want to know more about her, as always. Anyways, I'm looking for all kinds of peoples. As some background for her if you wish to insert yourself somehow, Rin was born in Ul'dah, though she spent most of her life growing up in Doma. After that she moved back to Ul'dah with her family and currently resides in her mother's old house in the Goblet. It's fully possible for her to have met people in Doma, if you're so inclined, or even around in Ul'dah or Gridania. And, while she doesn't travel to Limsa often, she is around there occasionally. She's also looking for a partner of sorts who can keep her company at most times to help her if she needs it. Though she is perfectly capable on her own, due to some recent events, she's now looking for company in the form of a live-in maid or some such. If you're interested, respond here, pm me, or find me in game! I'm on often enough!

What future game releases are you most looking forward to?
Shizuno replied to Dravus's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Fire Emblem Fates - Can't go wrong with FE games. Always loved them since FE7 made it here. For Honor - While I'm sceptical this game will actually be as awesome as it looks, and I hope it is, I'm still really excited for the idea of a skill based sword combat game. Star Wars Battlefront - I loved the Battlefront game back on PS2 despite my general dislike of shooters, so here's hoping? FF Explorers - Please, PLEASE, PLEASE, be the second coming of Crystal Chronicles. I'd do anythign for a remake of the first CC game. Monster Hunter X - MonHun. 'Nuff Said. Dark Souls III - Glad to see From moving back to Dark Souls. I'm a bigger fan of fantasy settings than the Gothic look that Bloodborne had (though I still enjoyed it), so DkSIII is a big one for me. ...are about all I can think of right now. I'm sure I'm missing at least one. -
I have a crazy theory about primals. (Some general 3.0 spoilers)
Shizuno replied to Marisa's topic in FFXIV Discussion
There's a lot of possibilities here, especially with the way that the lore team likes to bend things. While, yes, we have no concrete reason to believe that the current WoL is a primal or a primal-in-the-making, the opposite is pretty apt as well - we don't really have any concrete evidence that says is can't happen either. Ultimately, yes, it is just a crazy theory, but it certainly a fun one to consider. While it's far more likely that the Warrior of Light is really just that strong because of Hydaelyn's blessing, it definitely feels like there should be more to it. I mean, we know that there are hundreds of Hydaelyn's chosen roaming around, though none hold a candle to what the WoL is capable of as far as we know - and while that's most likely just main-character-syndrome, making the WoL to be some sort of pseudo Primal would be a very interesting way to explain the power he holds. I mean, here's another crazy theory. What if Hydaelyn is actually the one powering the WoL as a primal? -

So, even with us knowing who the light primal is (thanks Liadan ) I'm still thinking that even if the derplander wasn't a primal before, he's definitely slowly becoming one. Or at least teetering right on the brink. And it wouldn't be crazy to think that all of the hopes and wishes of the people the derplander has helped along the way are the driving force behind the insane amount of power that the derplander holds. I mean...look at the last scene after clearing the Reactor. (edited for bad phone grammar!) -
Hey guys! Quick update (and shameless bump) - Daily updates are slowly becoming more and more of a reality, and the story is finally going to get really moving soon! If anyone out there is interested at all, I'd really love to get some interactions started on Malak's blog if you guys wanna post I'd also love it if you could spread the word that this is a thing. Like, really love it. Thanks!

For me, I think, it depends mostly upon why and how the Fantasia is used. If someone has a genuine IC reason to use one beyond the "Oh noes, by drink was spiked!" I think it can lead to some very interesting RPs. Of course, this is also dependent on the change not just being the player wanting to change the character's design. It may be poor form here, but I'm going to use myself as an example. I'm making the switch with Rin IC to an Au Ra, but not for my own reasons, but for strictly IC ones. She's blind, and grew up for a long time in Doma, so she's familiar with the Auri. It recently dawned on her, while trying to find a way to assist her slowly deteriorating aethersight that the Auri horns may help her at least in short range talks and such, as they assist in spacial awareness. So, she's since been trying to find (and recently found) someone who may be able to brew up something for her that may assist in the change. Whether it's technically a Fantasia is up for debate I guess, but it'll make for some very interesting RP. TL;DR - I think it entirely depends on the reason and RP surrounding the Fantasia use.

She's basically a midlander with elezen ears (who go upwards instead) slapped onto. A wee bit disappointing, I had hoped they would have made them a bit more lanky/slender, but heck, I'm loving those ears! For personal roleplay reasons I am very happy to see her though Her model actually was a bit more lanky than the typical Hyur, I think. Or at least her body's specifications looked different from Rin's. Maybe another female Hyur can confirm? :3
-
Also something I noticed during your time with her, she has the Hyuran female running animation too.
