There are certain jobs, like Black Magic, that are illegal. That doesn't mean you can't be a black mage. That said, Thaumaturgy is totally legal. All of the base classes are legal and free to walk around in any city they want. The Grumpy Garlean up there is right though. Your RP should be what you want it to be. Don't worry too much about what your actual class can and can't do.

Welcome to the RPC. I've found the easiest way to get into random rp with people is to head to one of the many organized rp events on Balmung. Throw your character in there and just start talking. Don't be afraid to make the first move. That said, it's much harder to engage in RP if the character is an ornery loner. That works well with an established group, but not really for random pick up rp. And if you see Tadir West hanging around, feel free to be surly at him because of the changing world.

I don't think there has been any official lore released to support it, but I see no reason that this character background couldn't work. Unless the area is fervently anti-miqo'te, I'd think you could make a go of it. From what I've seen, it isn't. Non-humans definitely weren't well thought of during the War of the Lions, but we also didn't see any that weren't monsters. In 12, Dalmasca seems to be an extremely diverse and accepting area. In FFXIV we've seen Hyur, Bangaa, Seeqs, Viera and Moogles. It would seem strange for Miqo'te to be ostracized. So I say go for it.

Welcome! And there is nothing wrong with playing a bartender. I'd consider using crafting classes, but it's not necessary. If you DO level up to 30, which is pretty easy, you can have a chocobo that will protect you as you go about your business.

I'm on the West Coast, but mainly play after midnight, so I find it hard to find a group to regularly play with. Family and work tend to get in the way of normal playtime hours. If you're on Balmung at all, Tadir West is always looking for drinking buddies or people to go exploring with.

Totally forgot all my characters have at least two Fantasias laying around. I used one last night on a Balmung alt to get Tadir's look back. I'll be name changing him to the correct name tonight. Tadir West is back on Balmung. Now to find people to play with. ^__^

Hey everyone. It's been a long time, but I'm finally back on FFXIV. I'm not sure if anyone I knew from the founding of RPC is still around, but if so, I hope to see you all here. Tadir has been moved over to leviathan to play with rl friends, but I'm trying to create a new character on one of the RP servers. What server are most people playing on these days, and is it possible to create characters on that server? Once I find a server, I'm looking for a decent rp guild. I've been involved with this game since beta and have been rping the whole time. Any suggestions on servers/guilds I should be keeping my eye on? Tadir West

I don't know what you're talking about at all! I don't disappe...I mean, I rarely dis...well...Oh Hush You!

So, I've been gone for awhile. I was tempted back to world of warcraft by my friends and I realized something. Ten years on, WoW is a great game. You can try to disagree all you want, but Blizzard has, over the past decade, put together a game that really is fun. I was shocked to realize this. Once I did, I spent a good month and a half rediscovering the early 2000's. That said, it's time to come back to a younger, but more evolved game. It was great playing with all my friends in WoW again, but Azeroth is not Eorzea. Playing that game gave me a new appreciation for what I already adored. It also let me realize why I spent so much time there and kept going back. I have a good group of people to play with there. The Twisting Nether Gazette served the exact same function as the RPC does. The difference for me is that I knew people from TNG in real life. I need to find a Company on the RPC that I can connect with. RP is the only thing that keeps me interested in games. Tadir is my most developed character by far, but I keep putting him off because I can't find anyone to play with. So this is my call to any and all. I've been with the RPC, off and on, since the beginning. It's time for me to settle down and make a home. I'm now actively searching for a Company where a Devious Cartographer can make his home. Considering that the game is basically rebooting, and the influx of new players, you shouldn't be concerned about coming into an established community of role players and not fitting in. Even if there weren't a big group of new players, most role players are more than willing to add new people to their social list. We tend to be a friendly and accepting bunch when drama doesn't cause major rifts (which can be annoying and not fun to watch.)

While there's nothing wrong with playing characters like that, just make sure that's not the only impression people get of you. I'd hate to see misunderstandings cause strife. Welcome to the RPC.

RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Heavy to medium, IC preferred in most instances. Views on RP combat and injuries: All RP combat is planned out beforehand between all parties. Certain injuries are acceptable (including serious) as long as it is well planned and agreed on by both parties. Views on IC romance: Tadir and Kimi are faithfully married. No serious romance outside of that will happen. Both will flirt, but nothing beyond that. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Totally open to non-romantic RP. If someone has a compelling story and reason for the relationship then I am willing to partake. Views on lore: Lore is important. Fun is moreso, but not to the point of breaking emersion. Try to stick to the lore whenever possible. Bending of conventions I can deal with. Immortal vampire ponies will be ignored. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I'd prefer say and linkshell to be in character. I prefer party chat OOC. Sometimes you need to coordinate outside of rp. It happens.
