  1. Just adding another "Hey, that's a great idea!" to the Making Connections idea, with different subforums under that tag for each server (hells, if it's not too complicated, do a Balmung, a Gilgamesh, and an Other subforum, much the same way that the LS/FC section is set up). I think it will help people that are just looking for RP connections/NPCs for storylines, etc be able to actually get the attention their posts deserve without having to constantly bump it so that it doesn't fall into the realm of the 4th or 5th page.
  2. The "issue" of tagging/not-tagging has been debated quite a bit in the RP groups that I've been a part of. How tagging posts usually gets brought up is like this: I read something, it has subject that disturbs me. Discussion of rape/child abuse/domestic violence/ etc. I then ask the person writing it (or all people that contribute to the site) to please start tagging things. People say "I don't get the big deal, why should we have to tag, the site doesn't have any rules about it!" I sigh and stop reading the site entirely. A very smart person once said, in relation to tagging potential trigger warnings: If you are standing on my foot and I ask you to please stop because you are hurting me, the correct response is "Oh! Sorry!" and to move your foot. It is not "My foot has every right to be there, I don't know why you're being so sensitive!"
  3. I play 2 characters. Anais is a non-traditional Wildwood Elezen (she's not welcome in Gridania, she's an ex-pirate and current anti-hero type character). C'rhisi, my miqo'te, is a traditional tribal character. She was raised by a tribe in a place where they -maybe- had contact with the outside world once a year or so. She's out adventuring as part of a coming of age rite. She is young, naive, and kind. She's also a fierce hunter that doesn't have a problem with seeing blood. She has an extremely developed sense of honor. I chose miqo'te because I wanted to blend human and animalistic social traits- ears and tail, fangs and claws combined with the intelligence and structure of humanity. I wrote up the Coeurl Tribe wiki entry using a combination of inspirations from both human tribes as well as social animals (lions, wolves, wild dogs, zebras, wildebeast, etc). I enjoy playing 'fish out of water' types and I love playing an 'overused' race in a way that is different enough to be fresh and unique. Rhisi is a young, sheltered woman who is being forced to broaden her horizons and her mind. She could be any race, technically, but she is miqo'te because only the miqo'te lore suited the story I wanted to tell.
  4. Honestly, though I am excited about some of the other changes being made due to 2.1, the housing bait-and-switch that happened truly, truly broke my heart. I've got a little FC. 9-10 active players. All adults, most with full time jobs/schooling and families. After months of working very hard, farming dungeons and botany/mining/crafting and things like materials, we saved just under 2 million gil. MONTHS of work went into this- often to the exclusion of progression and roleplay. 2 million. All of us pooling together. 2. million. Screw people that say 'you should have gamed the markets more!' or who are questioning our dedication to the FC or to the game in general. I didn't buy an auction house game. I didn't buy a 'farm for 8+ hours a day' game. I bought a roleplaying game, one which promised housing as one of it's features. Instead, I am being told by some people that, for some reason, I to be excluded from that promised feature because I'm....not good enough? Fuck that. I am waiting for the prices to fall- because I believe they will. And while I wait, I will continue to contribute to our FC bank, because I want the members of the group I lead to be able to have access to something that was promised from the start of the game. I will also vociferously and vehemently oppose the idea that smaller FCs, non-hardcore (whatever the hell -that- means) FCs, or 'less dedicated' *snort* FCs do not deserve to see promised content.
  5. The BLC is out of the housing game as well for the foreseeable future. Unless the amounts are adjusted or we start getting -massive- amounts of gil in the new quests it'll take...god, a year or more to afford a large plot and that's if we farm 24/7.
  6. I play C'rhisi as growing ill each time she uses an aetheryte. Something about being tossed from place to place unsettles her stomach. She's also a 'tribal' miqo'te and as such didn't have access to an aetheryte until she was nearly an adult so I use that as a reason why it affects her poorly.
  7. I am totally, 100% for this. Our FC does IC dungeon runs as part of the larger FC story and it's a great chance to sneak in some character growth and development as a result of unexpected circumstances. I mean, heck, people die in dungeons! The dungeon timer is, I agree, a major hindrance. Especially if someone is trying to DM stuff while at the same time fighting. The FFXIV official forums are, admittedly, a little daunting for me but if someone does have a petition to make the forum timer something that is either extended or possibly only active on a person's first run I would sign it in an instant. Personally, I think the 'active on first run' would be easiest to implement. They already have the xp boost for first timers. Having the timer active on those runs only seems to make sense.
  8. If I'm RPing the -journey- specifically, then I walk/run along or ride my chocobo. If the intent is to be at 'destination A' and then 'destination B' (for instance, Anais meets someone in Gridania but they need to go to the far south of the South Shroud to do something), then I handwave the journey, much like movies and games utilize cuts or montages. However my character got there, the point is, she got there. I do also utilize the in-game travel options- typically aetherytes, though I have also used the ferries. I don't tend to reference the airships as I do see airship travel being either rare or very regulated. I don't see any reason why anyone can't play having an airship pass, though if everyone got them from the Sultana/Kan-E/Merlwyb I might side-eye that a touch. Still, there's stowing away, friendships with people that have passes, bribing the airship operators, any number of ways that someone could use the airships in their RP.
  9. Hallo! The BLC does like to make use of the building in Vesper Bay that...isn't the tavern or the Waking Sands. It's actual name is utterly escaping me at the moment- it has a couple of beds, a desk, and a couple of NPCs. We're typically out in the world, however, so if someone else uses the same building it shouldn't be tough to share.
  10. Hi there! I'm actually the one that wrote up the Coeurl Tribe information (link is in my signature). I -love- this idea and would definitely look forward to brainstorming with people about either the C' tribe or any other. =) I love creating plausible fanon/headcanons.
  11. Raeras is a fantastic RPer, giving this a bump to help her find people for her storyline!
  12. I think they're just getting ready to physically print Werewolf 20th, from some quick googling it looks like Mage's kickstarter may end November of this year so they're definitely looking at it! My old troupe played Mage after I moved- I never got the chance to dive headfirst into it. I did play one (briefly lived) tabletop game with it that was a helluva lot of fun. My husband kept breaking the DM though. >.>
  13. Hey, stuff happens! Looking forward to the next one and I hope your computer troubles clear up!
  14. Heyla! The IRC chat I'm in now is hosted by Games Without Borders, an international off-shoot of what used to be the Camarilla club. It's a non-club group that currently does strictly IRC chats for folks around the world, catering primarily to soldiers. Our game is set in Trier, Germany, and there's a 'sister' game of Lost set in Prague. The group also has a Requiem game that's just getting off the ground. I technically started with V:tM LARPing (Mind's Eye Theater, baby). Then a bit of Werewolf: the Apocalypse and one or two one-off Changeling: the Dreaming games. Did that for -years-, then moved and lost my troupe. Joined up with a group of folks in the new Camarilla (Mind's Eye Society, they're called) and played a little bit of Requiem (just can't get into it...) and then played Werewolf the Forsaken with them for quite a bit before illness made me stop LARPing. I've done Scion, V:tM, Hunter, and W:tA in tabletop, too. Love Scion. Oh! And Exalted! Played the tabletop Exalted and loved it. But yeah, nowadays I'm strictly over the computer due to health stuff. I really, really miss LARPing though.
  15. I'm in an IRC Changeling: the Lost campaign now and I've played in old World of Darkness games for ~10 years and new WoD games (changeling and werewolf) for ~2 years. I am a big fan of the oWoD- I loved the game Bloodlines, anyone remember that?
  16. Myself and the FC had a -fantastic- time, thank you so much for hosting these events! Looking forward to really getting to mingle next time!
  17. C'rhisi is the 7th member. I find that super-awesome (and weirdly appropriate)! This is a fantastic group of folks- the RP is engaging, the storylines have good depth, and the individual characters -are- individuals. I'm very happy to be a member of this group.
  18. Unfortunately, these are all questions that aren't really covered in the lore we currently have access to. There is only one 'working' tribe in game (the U' tribe)- from whom we see that the Tias have a hierarchy and are in competition with one another to be 'top cat' and that the highest ranked Tia is the one most likely to challenge the Nunh. In the U tribe, the Nunh actually goes against what the official lore indicates- he leads the tribe politically. The other questions really depend on whether you see Miqo's as more feline/canine vs more 'human'. Human tribes are social constructs but humanity as a whole does typically have a drive towards being social creatures, so the urge to have a tribe would be supported by instinct no matter which aspect is stronger (human or animal). Similarly, the competition to be at the top of the social hierarchy is something that we see a lot in both humanity and social animals. The last bit, about having multiple mates, is very much a your mileage may vary scenario. I think it would depend a lot on how said Miqo was raised- he may have the urge to have a lot of girls but that urge may be a shameful thing if he was raised by monogamous people in a monogamous society. That's one of those things where the whole nature vs. nurture thing comes in, I think. Of course, these answers are my point of view, other than the stuff about the U' tribe which is from my experience in game.
  19. There's nothing wrong with throwing out some ideas about how Keepers might work! I, personally, -love- to speculate and draw from RL influences (both human and feline/canine) in order to fill in the massive gaps of lore that exist in game for the miqo'te. Of -course- it's just speculation and no one is saying that every Keeper/Seeker must adhere to these ideas, it's just a fun mental exercise that doesn't hurt anybody but may get people to thinking about things that they never considered for backstory. ShayRei, rock on with this and I really don't think you need to strike it out! Mentioned before or not, it's always good to read other people's takes on things.
  20. I have one! It's shared between C'rhisi and Anais. Here!
