  1. Seraj laughed, the idea of someone doing a portrait of her was quite amusing. "Sure, why not?" she said with a wink at Sondra. "If nothing else, I'm sure Dal can use it as a Wanted poster when he finally decides to get rid of me. It would be a pleasure having my portrait done by you, Sondra, especially since sailor was nice enough to donate me his latest pay". She smirked, then looked around, letting Cassondra leave to serve the older lady.
  2. One thing I'm extremely jealous of is how her left hand (with the sword) goes out of the picture. I suck at making those shortenings myself, that add the perspective to characters. I can do it with stuff like rooms and tables, but not with characters >.< I also think your style is pretty interesting, with the eyes set far apart and the narrow jawline. It gives it a really unique expression
  3. Heh, one thing I was always thinking about when I listened to more metal than I do now, was that why are the women always dressed in large dresses? I know it's mainly in symphonic metal, and that it's the "style", but I always wanted to see more women in... Well, something else than those large dresses It looks good, sure, but why does no one put on a pair of tight leather pants?
  4. Just to answer your question. If you go to the "Archive" section, there's a lot of character sheets that has been filled out there, so I think that's what she means I don't have one yet, since I want to play with character creation before I get set on how exactly Seraj looks, so I just wrote a few details in my post.
  5. Or maybe it's just that we've played it for too long? While I completely agree that WoW is a bit worn out, it sounds like they're doing some really interesting things in Cataclysm. I'm going to check it out, sure, but I'm not super excited about it right now, and it might not be at launch. But I agree with your point, WoW might have worn itself out a bit. I hope for them the changes in Cataclysm will add some new life. On the note of FFXIV becoming mainstream... While the FF series already has a big fanbase, I doubt it will become the same "type" of popularity as WoW has, and as Asyria, I sort of hope not. While a larger fanbase can be great in some ways, it has its dangers as well. While I've had some great roleplay on WoW, and been in some awesome guilds, a lot of people are idiots. I'm sorry, but they are. Of course idiots are in all game, and the reason why there's so many in WoW is because it's larger, but still. I prefer being able to ask a simple question without being called "Noob", everybody was a new player once. It might not happen to me in WoW anymore, I've been playing that game for, what, 5 years as well, but I see it happen to other people, and it makes me sad. I love when a community comes TOGETHER and help eachother, instead of just thinking about themselves or their own guild.
  6. Cute I love the detailing on the clothes!
  7. Seraj peered slightly curiously at the drawing, then smiled at Cassondra. "You're not bad," she said, taking a sip of the ale. She looked at the door when a new person came in, but when she realized it was a rather large Roegadyn with a scowling expression, she turned her attention away with a small shutter, looking at the gathering crowd instead. "What's going on over there?"
  8. The thing to realize about WoW I think, is that you can't really compare it to other MMOs in many ways. A lot of the players there are WoW-players, not MMO-players. They're not really gamers, World of Warcraft is the only thing they really play, and they're not going to move to another game. WoW has become mainstream. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, it means that a ton of people there are not really interested in the game genre, only in THAT game. It's also the MMO that has been talked about the most outside of the MMO-community, so there will be a lot of people checking it out, probably for a while still. That is also the reason I've always found it silly to talk about a WoW-killer, cause from what I see, it's not really possible, unless another game gets that mainstream status that WoW have/had. I'm not sure where exactly I'm going with this, I guess I'm just trying to say that WoW, and a lot of WoW players, are different than most other MMOs, and it's different people who are playing. There are lots of MMO players playing WoW, sure, but there's also tons of people who will never try anything else. And because of those tons of people, there's another ton of people who want to try it out, but probably don't really have an interest in MMORPGs, so they don't make it very far, because it CAN be confusing when you first log in. I think that might be one of the reasons why so many doesn't make it past level 10. And let's not forget all the level 1 goldspammers. They have to make a pretty decent chunk of those accounts too <.<
  9. Awesome, mine too! My boyfriend has been bringing a book every time he came here, and I finished the last one a month ago. So next time, I think he'll have to get me the first book in the Imriel chronicles ^^
  10. Seraj sends her a smile. "Well, since you're going anyway, I wouldn't say no to an ale." She finds a few gil from the coin purse hanging at her belt, that seem somewhat heavier since the sailor left, and leans over the table to give them to Cassondra. Then she grins at Renaise. "You should stay out of the motel around the corner then, if you're looking for lodgings. Plenty of bugs there!"
  11. QFT. And as it has been stated, it's a way to play with people who are around your own age... While I know +18 allows for a pretty big spread (I've been in guilds with people who were 20 years older than me), most people go through a lot when they're a teenager. I changed much more in my teenage years, than I've done for the past couple of years, so the difference between someone on 25 and 35 will often seem less than between someone on 15 and 25. At least that's my experience. It's not to say that all teenagers are immature, far from it, and I'm still relatively young myself (early 20's), it's just what I mostly observe. As Crystal said, in many of the guilds I've been in, a lot of younger people found it boring.
  12. Oh my god, it was good nothing happened to you or your boyfriend. That sounds pretty horrible, it must have been a strange experience Denmark is, I think, the safest country in the world, at least one of them. We have one of the lowest crime rates, our biggest predator is a badger, we have no mountain or rivers. In fact, the most dangerous you can encounter here, is a wasp <.< So I would probably have been pretty freaked out if it was me. Sorry for being off topic.
  13. Crystal, you're always amazing at explaining things. Just wanted to applaud your post, since it's exactly what I've tried (=failed) at saying for the past many posts. And about responsible parents, that reminded me of a youtube meme I recently saw... The first video I saw was of a 12-year old crying, saying that some posters had ruined her life, and then her dad coming in and yelling something about the cyberpolice. Apparently some people from 4chan or something had harrased her, and at first, I felt really bad for her, I know how horrible some people on the internet can be... Then I found the reason why they had done it in the first place, a video where she talks about "haters", saying that she would "pop a glock in their mouth and make brain slushie" or something (Sorry for my terrible butchering of english expressions, I probably said that ALL wrong <.<). While I still don't condone the harrasement of a 12-year old, or of anyone in general, it was pretty obvious that the parents blamed the internet, pretty much ignoring that their daughter behaved like a total brat. I don't think you should keep your child off the internet, but I think it's important to teach them that even there, you should act reasonable.
  14. I've found myself flip through it for names, not only for FF... I've been reading the Kushiel trilogy lately, and love the french sounding names, and the Elezen seem to fit that style very well ^^
  15. Yeah, I agree that the ESRB system doesn't really fit roleplay... Hell, it doesn't fit a lot of movies either <.< Also, the rules are not to say that if we discovered someone in the guild was 16 or 17, they'd be kicked... It IS more of a way to cover all bases, so that IF someone gets upset, etc... I feel like I'm starting to quote myself too much
  16. [i haven't made a character sheet for Seraj yet, since Averis and me have been working on some background stuff, and I'm not sure what her colors are going to be yet, but I know somewhat what her design will look like ^^ She's a Miqo'te, early 20s, with slightly narrowed eyes, and... The haircut with the bangs falling into the eyes and the white hairband? She'll have subtle markings on her face, and usually carries a smirk. She's a bit of a grifter really <.<] The young Miqo'te, who had until recently been playing card with a sailor, who had now left the bar cursing loudly for some reason, glanced over at the man who have requested the butterfly picture. "A lady, right," she said with a short laughter. "What, butterflies doesn't fit a "manly image"? She continued to smile teasingly, shuffling the deck of card in her hands.
  17. Well, age is often a hard thing to judge maturity on. I've met some very mature 14 year olds, and some 30 year olds that acted like teenage girls. But having a restriction can still help I think, in finding people around your own age...
  18. Exactly! When you give a +18 restrictions, you've set a warning that themes might be mature, and that we're not responsible if you decide to lie to get in. One thing I just realized, or... Thought about anyway... I think there might be some misunderstandings too, due to differences in cultures (I might be wrong though). As far as I know, Mature ratings in USA is often given due to nudity or sexual content. In Europe, or in Denmark at least, it has much more to do with violence and blood showing. So when I for instance call our guild mature, it would probably have more to do with the possibility of violence, whereas it seems like some people think that a +18 must be an ERP guild. I might be completely wrong, it was just a thought I had ^^ Anyway, I think an important thing to note is, that while a guild has a rule saying that you must be 18 or older to join, it doesn't mean that "mature" things WILL happen, that there'll be sex and hardcore violence everywhere. It's just a sort of safety net for many, I think, a way to say that IF it happens, we're in the clear. Yeah.
  19. Hehe, okay, I'll try posting there then! And it sounds like you have a tough schedule <.<
  20. Hmm, I haven't really gotten in to forum rp here yet... Maybe I should give it a try... My problem is that I sleep while most people post, so when I DO try forum roleplaying with americans, I usually fall behind and are never really able to get into it, because too much happens while I'm not there.
  21. They're also doing a new show about the next Avatar But a spinoff about Zuko's mother would be super cool, I always thought they'd do something like that, when they left that story so open.
  22. I LOVE Avatar The Last Airbender, the tv-show. I haven't worked up courage to go see the movie yet >.< The trailers make me... Worried. While it could have looked ok if it wasn't based on the tv-show, it just doesn't fit the show at all! All the characters are completely different, it's way too serious, and seem to lack all of the charming humor, that I'm sure is one of the reasons for the show's popularity. To me it seems like one of those cases where they see something has gotten popular, and then COMPLETELY misunderstand what it is that makes it popular. Anyway, back on topic! That's a funny story. I used to do some shortfilms, and I remember running around all over town to get permission to film <.< It can be hell, but also a lot of fun
  23. Hoh wow, sorry, I wasn't around yesterday, so didn't get a chance to answer the question before now. As ArmaichA pointed out, it has nothing to do with maturity, it's a question of not wanting to deal with legal problems in case someone makes an innuendo or something like that. While we're a relatively mature bunch, so it shouldn't be too bad, we don't want to have to censure our guildchat. That's all. And I completely agree with Asyria, believing that every guild that is +18 are about ERP is rather silly. The fact that we don't care what people do in private is hardly the same as being an ERP guild either. So yes, I'm sorry to disappoint you people, Baltazar's Favor is NOT an ERP guild, so you won't be getting any hawt Vahsyl action
  24. While the Mary Sue test can be great in many ways to be aware of some of the "dangers" in character creation, you always have to be careful with taking it as the complete truth. While a too high score might indicate that you might use one cliché too many, having a very low score isn't always a guarantee that your char is not a Mary Sue either... It's a balance.
  25. Well, if there's international servers, it's not that unlikely that you will at some point run into someone from France. Maybe he/she will even be a roleplayer.
