Lan Darklyn

I'd like to stress that the theme of the event is not going to change. I can't agree more with this. Remember the real reason behind this event, it is the same as it has always been for the pilgrimages. I doubt that IC many people would know that this was the last one anyway. At the same time, I think you can see just how much this community supports you OOC Jancis.

I agree with this 100%. These events have been fantastic and I am very thankful that Jancis gave members of my branch of HoD the chance to take part in these.

Once I am back in game I was thinking about Lan actually starting down a path to move up in social standing. Why? Well because he feels that he can do a better job than people that were simply born into that lifestyle 8-). I'm sure he will visit Barb and pester her.

Lan blinks a couple of times as if trying to figure out if what he is seeing is real. "Well, Val is sure going to be pissed when he sees this. I think that's the first time I've seen Lady Covington dress that way, maybe they got her drunk..." Shaking his head a bit Lan turns to head off down the street, his ear twitching a bit as he hears a string of curses and sounds of an altercation nearby, it seemed Val had seen the poster.

I encourage people to attend this event if you can. It is a ton of fun. And it offers the perk of getting a chance to RP outside of your normal circle of friends.

It was a pleasure to help you out with your event Jancis. the whole lining the walls thing was done off the cuff by the other HoD members, Lan never ordered them to do that, he only assigned the zones for them to work. I hope that we can be of some help for your future events.

Lan's ideas on family love were formed by his adopted upbringing. I would say it is what most folks think of when they thing of a sort of traditional Hyur family. His mother and father ran a way station/inn and he was the only child the ever had so he grew up in a good hardworking household. He has sorta shifted that feeling toward the Harbingers. They are his family and he is very protective of them, seeing no problem in visiting precise but merciless violence on people that threaten them. Romantic love was something that was also formed by his Hyur raising. He learned about tribal Seekers, but he just followed the ways of a Hyur. He had no real relationships, just the occasional fling, usually brought on by a night out drinking with his fellow soldiers, and there was the nurse right before he went into battle at Carteneau... Currently Lan is quite happy with his relationship which is most certainly a non-traditional one. Qih was the first woman that he can honestly say he loved and despite recent revalations in their story, he still loves her dearly. That being said, Lan is what I call, my relationship retard. He has a habit of screwing things up, putting his foot in his mouth, etc. So it's a bumpy road for them, but they both seem to be in it for the long haul.

Lan barely seen because of the candle, Ahyin and and Anstarra,likely picking on poor Lan. And Worren Tigre in the trench coat. This was the last Tavern night at the HoD estate in the Mist....Now join us in Ward 5, lot 58 of Lavendar Beds!

Lan has a dog named Blitz who i use for all sorts of fun RP around the FC house. Blitz has a habit of stealing ladies under things and bringing them to Lan expecting a reward...Which of course makes people accuse Lan of teaching him to do that as some sort of perverted trick. It's gotten a lot of good laughs.

Yeah some characters are willing to have those sort of casual encounters as I mentioned with my character Kylar, but if it does not fit the your character, it does not fit her and should could be polite and nice while declining or just tell them to shove off! That being said, Don't feel forced to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. If Zana does pick up a guy for the night and you just fade it to black, that should be okay. RP is a story its more about how actions affect characters than the actual actions themselves in my opinion. Character development and all that. Hope this made sense, I'm on like two hours of sleep.

Lan: Lan's sexual experiences are pretty limited. Before his mate he had only had sex on two occasions. Well on one occasion he woke up in a bed with two duskwight women snuggled up on either side of him. that was when he realized what whiskey does to him...So yeah he does not know if anything even happened, but there were all in bed naked so his mind of course drew a conclusion. He second encounter was with a nurse just before he went into battle at Carteneau. They were scared and thought they were going to die, why not? And now he has his mate Qih Lyehga. Lan is a very private man and up until recently he would not even kiss his woman in public so there is no way in hell he will talk about his sex life. However the two of them have shown a strong desire for intimate time with each other and neither of them is more dominate than the other, it sort of swings back and forth. Kylar: Kylar is a fairly new character and he does not have a actual partner right now. However as part of his back story he has been with several women in the past. He has no problems with one night stands but he will seek out only women that are just looking for a bit of fun and not an actual relationship. Recently he developed a strong attraction to a woman that would have likely settled him down, but he remains just a friend, which oddly enough he is comfortable with. So he continues to flirt when he can and we shall see where the future leads. Yep, sex happens. It has never been a primary focus of my RP but it happens.It can make the character development feel very organic. It took a long time for Lan to even admit to Qih that he was attracted to her and even longer until they actually spent the night together. Building the relationship is a lot of fun in my opinion. As far as Kylar's casual encounters, they are also sorta a way of developing him in that it shows that this glasses wearing nerdy looking guy has a lot more going on than just reading books and studying aether. As far as RPing the actual acts. I have done both ERP as well as fade to black and I am comfortable with doing either. I play off what my partner is comfortable with really.

If Lan is able to beat his current situation back an manages to not die or go brain dead during the procedure he will be undergoing soon, I see his life ending in battle. Likely he will die protecting someone else, but I think even as the life finally leaves him he will feel at ease knowing that unto the end, he did what he could for Eorzea.

Lan has a fair number of quirks, but I'll keep the list down to the ones that people are most likely to notice. Lan will often chew on his bottom lip when deep in thought, and if the thought is particularly worrisome his right ear will twitch. Lan very, very rarely goes into public without being fully clothed, getting him to go to the beach is like pulling teeth. That being said, in private he usually wears only, trousers or shorts. If he is working out and thinks so one is looking he might remove his shirt. Whiskey is something considers a bane to his existence. Whiskey changes his behavior and has lead to a few moments in his past that were quite emberassing so he avoid the stuff like the plague. Kylar's major quirks are: He will go unclothed or at least shirtless if at all possible. This goes against most people's image of him as just being a nerdy researcher. That being said, he knows poper attire is needed. Kylar loves to drink, and he will drink anything from the nastiest, rust removing moonshine, to the most expensive of aged fine wines. He has been known to drink in excess. When observing people, sometimes Kylar will see them as subjects to research and speak of them as such.
