We're starting in just 40 minutes! We're already in the house getting ready, so feel free to arrive early!

I come from a similar background as you, I've lead multiple guilds - usually not by my own initiative, but because I was there when the original team left, and with XIV I felt that even though I didn't want to, I sort of had to take the position. Else, the project would have failed and I'd be in a situation that scares me just a little bit, which is to find another guild. I think a lot of people who have lead guild can relate to the thought of how do you not do that, when it's not your job anymore. I've always been a rather proactive roleplayer and talkative person in general, which has lead to officer positions prior to actually taking on guild-leadership. I have noticed the generous amount of roleplayers that are.. I'm going to say not like me, but I'm sure you know what I mean. From people who emote in past tense, to people who have very liberal views on what roleplay is.. I don't think there's more of them here than in most other games, but I think they're a bit more visible here because there's a rather relaxed atmosphere and a lot of guilds who take in these kind of people without commenting on why they're playing a miqote with wings ( And as much as leading a guild is lovely, I am so tired of it, for many of the reasons you mention. I lead a guild that is rather strict with it's rules, and it's guidelines on how things should be. We only embrace one way of dealing with combat RP (Freeform Emote-style), for example - and to make that go through we beat it into people how things are to be done, so there will be no "YOU'RE OP" - "Your mom's OP!!" - Drama, and so on. People who don't cut it on the quality and who do not desire to learn, gets cut loose - we have this on every area, not just combat. We require people to emote in present tense, we tell them not to emote their thoughts, not because it's wrong - we know it's a different style, but that in itself is the point - it's not how we do it, and when you're a part of the we then you do it our way. We also have a strict no drama policy, if people bring personal conflicts into the guild and they do not react to warnings immediately, they'll be cut loose. Fortunately so far we haven't had the need to cut loose both sides of a conflict like that, but if that was what it took to get peace back in the guild, we would do it. I stopped being afraid of being called elitist and other such negative words a long time ago, I'd much rather hear that than be called a lolrp'er. But even with all of that in place, we still have things that just aren't up to scratch - Like issues with getting everyone to read the rules/information-thread in the first place, getting them to embrace the website as a part of their life they can't miss out on, problems with the pro activity of people - too much receiving, not enough giving. Even some occasional problems with the interpretation of lore. I do not have enough hours in the day to work on the problems, and my officers do not have either. It's draining my willpower, it has caused (and continues to cause) burnouts in RP and so on. And because of that, I've decided that XIV is the last game I will lead an anything in, for a good while. I need a couple of years to forget the downsides, and to have considerably more fun whilst RP'ing. Sastra's a great character to play, but I have more fun on my alts because they will never ever be trapped in leadership matters, and they can go and do whatever they decide to do. Hopefully we'll be able to pick someone up from our community who can take the burden from me in future games (Like Archeage), and the idea that someone wouldn't saddens me because it would likely mean the death of the community - but it's still not enough to motivate me to try again. I of course hope that our XIV guild will carry on for a long time to come, with whatever it carries with it. I'm sure some of the others said good stuff and I probably repeated some of it, but now you have a perspective of someone who's decided to get out of it. EventuallyTM.

I am intrigued by Archeage, rather sad I was never invited for the Alpha (I do not have the funds to buy my way in) - It looks like an awesome game. I'm definitely going to try it when it comes out. My faith in Trion has been completely shattered however, after they closed the EU-RP server in Rift despite about 60 pages worth of resistance on the forum. It may well just save ArcheAge that it's developed by another company, because Trion does not seem to care for story nor for roleplayers anymore - So at least the lore wont suffer. I don't think they're going to give us an easy time, if they live up to what they have in Rift then the RP community will stand without support, and nothing will be done to griefers either. I'm not saying that Squeenix does a better job, but yeah. I just have no faith it's going to get any better. I'll sign up to your site and if I dare you might see me around on the forums there. Otherwise I will just lurk forever.

I tend to sit down and read a good book, usually in the fantasy genre. Sometimes I get inspired to make a character that way, because I see something I could envision working where ever I am currently RP'ing. I've RP'ed for five years now, had that wall come up a few times. I've also had full on burnouts, and to that I can only say, don't force yourself to RP - it only makes it worse.

Oh look, another way to kneel! Q.Q /femalehighlanderproblems. Seriously though, I do like the new sit-pose for when on a chair. It looks relaxed, which is a good thing for a highlander cause mostly we just look like we want to punch people in the face.

"Greetings everyone! We, the Kindred, would like to announce that we will host a stand-up competition! On the night of 4th Sun of the Third Umbral Moon, we will give you five minutes to make us fall off our chairs in uncontrollable laughter. Think you're up for the task? You'll have to come up with the very best jokes, or even the very best sketch, and perform it in front of an audience. We'll provide the stage, and all contestants will also get their drinks for the night without a bill attached. Should you not find yourself to be the next comedic genius, worry not, we would quite like to see you join the audience and laugh to your hearts content. There will be drinks and food ready to purchase, and plenty of opportunity to socialize and have a good night out. Bring your friends! So come on down to The Bottom, you can find us in the 4th ward of The Goblet, house number 11." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The above text can be found on posters and flyers around and about, most predominantly in the three larger cities. We're hosting another event! This time, it'll be centered around comedy. Get your brain working, and find your very best jokes and sketches. You can join the contest alone, or with up to two other people – You can tell jokes, do sketches, just about anything as long as it's fun and can be done from a stage! Each contestant will have 5 minutes on stage to convince the crowd, and at the end of the night the crowd will pick their favorite. The prize will be a title as The Bottom's Funniest, as well as an undisclosed amount of gil. We would of course like that the jokes & sketches stick to being themed after Eorzea. If there's too much interest in being on stage, we may limit the amount of people who can sign up so as to make sure it doesn't last too long into the night. The time and date will be: 4th of June at 8 PM BST (= 21:00 CEST / 2 PM EST ) And the location again: 4th ward of The Goblet, plot 11, in the basement bar known as The Bottom. We hope to see as many as possible join us for a fun night

I. Basic Info Characters: Nailah Quill, Thala'to Relehna, L'nessa Kasah. Primary character: Nailah Quill Linkshells: Europa, Mercwork, Heavy RP OOC. Primary RP linkshell: (Free Company) KinRP - The Kindred. II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Heavy. Whilst I am not IC all the time, as I do partake in crafting and PvE to some degree and 98% of that wouldn't be something my character actually did, I do dedicate most of my playtime for RP, spread across my main and alt characters. I believe in free-form roleplay, and I do not include numbers & game-mechanics in my roleplay where it can be avoided. Views on RP combat and injuries: My stance on RP combat is that the person who is challenged is the one who declares the rules on the combat area. Everything has consequence, and as a general standpoint any of my characters will die if their injuries are too great / they can't escape their predicament (That doesn't mean you can just go and shoot them though). I have a reservation on not killing Nailah due to her position. My preferred style of combat is, related to my general preference, free-form combat. I trust other people are able to balance their characters, and I believe that there's no such thing as a fair fight. During such fights, I always ensure plenty of OOC communication to reduce drama that comes from misunderstandings. I believe in not judging other characters strength, as none can know a character as well as the player who plays it. If a fight break the rules on free-form fighting (Such as poweremoting, godemoting, metagaming and what have you) I usually leave the RP, if it makes sense my character will flee the scene, if it doesn't then I'm likely to assume the fight never happened. Now, I should point out that Nailah isn't a combat character, and that my other two characters are combat-shy. I have only partaken in a few fights in my entire time here. Views on IC romance: If romance happens, it happens. One of my characters, Nailah, has commitment-issues and isn't likely to ever settling in a longer-standing romance. My other two characters are pretty easy-going with it. If the romance in any way hints at crossing into the OOC, I'll pull the plug on it, which has happened many times in the past. I firmly separate IC and OOC at this point, both out of principle but also because I am in a relationship OOC. When it comes to bedroom activities, I am open-minded and I prefer to roleplay things through (General thing, I don't like to assume RP) but I tend to go with whatever the other part goes with, and also what time in the situation allows for. And again there is a point where it can become too much, so everything needs to be balanced out with other RP. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I treat family and such as things that can be used for a storyarch down the line. I don't like pre-scripting RP, but I have created "open spots" for people to take up family roles - Common trait for when I do this, is that I really give the person 95% of the freedom. My only specifications thus far has been genetic traits, and age. Eventually some of my own FC members have stepped up to make alts out of the concepts, and those characters stand rightfully as their own characters, to develop in their own way. I find it exciting, that stuff like that is possible. Otherwise, I'm a big fan of story-arch and plots, as long as it isn't railroaded (= With a pre-determined outcome). Views on lore: Whilst I am no expert, like at all - I run to my loregeeks frequently - I do have a very deep respect for the lore. I do not follow the Main Scenario Quest (Unless it's ripple effects are global/very big), and generally speaking I do not like mixing my RP with people who do - not because I think it's inherently bad, but because it makes for a whole lot of confusion when my characters see warriors of light as something you read about in the history books, if you get what I mean? In the same go, I don't like it when people claim to have relation to major lore characters (I consider these characters squeenix'es to RP and we shouldn't decide what they do) and when they claim to have killed certain bosses in a dungeon. With all of my characters, I follow the lore that is given to the best of my ability, and do not carry out things that can be considered world-breaking/changing. I am flexible though, and jumping through the various hoops there is can be good fun - such as playing race/gender combinations with traits that aren't common to that combination. I should note that I do not like seeing the Fantasia being used icly, and I tend to assume people who have used it as being new characters - or otherwise ask them to leave me out of any plot related to it. If I see a character that is acting way out of lore, my characters are likely to assume they're out of their skull crazy. I seldom ignore people in RP unless they're literally on my blacklist. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): /say is always IC and should be used for the spoken language. /em is always IC and should be used for emotes primarily, but I am nod adverse to including speech in it. I do not use thoughtemoting, as I don't believe that characters can read minds and I find it just a bit too meta. I'd rather be left guessing using bodylanguage descriptions as clues. III. Other Info Country: Denmark Timezone: CEST/GMT+2 Copenhagen/Berlin/Paris. Contact info: Skype: Ask me! I'd be happy to give it to you. Enjin Profile: http://theclandestine.enjin.com/profile/401190 Or PM me on this site I'm quite happy to have a talk, even if it's not about anything in particular. What I do for my FC, and have been doing ever since we started saving up for a FC house, is to - along with other fc members who're interested in the moneymaking aspect of the game - to collect information about what things are good to grind right now, down to the point where I'd time how much I got from a certain type of mob-farm and figure out what it sold for afterwards. It's helped a lot of my members a lot to know exactly when and where they should go for something, to make a relatively quick profit out of the "I've 30 minutes and nothing to do" situations. I'd encourage other FC leaders with time to spare to do the same, because even though it wont get people to instantly have all of the gil ever, if you get them used to doing a little every day it'll land them in a better position for when the darn thing actually launches. I do not consider making money in XIV to be difficult, but rather it's gated by how much time you put into it. Which sort of is the case for anything in an mmorpg, the more you do something the better you get at it/the more you get out of it. Crafting for profit is my downtime in between RP, aside from a dungeon and a set of dailies per day and after having spent a lot of time leveling up all but two crafts I'm now finally at a point where I can nestle on a pile of a million gil. One of the biggest ways you can see that I'm that kind of player (or whatever you call it) is by asking me how many atmas I've collected.. (One. I have one atma. It is my atma. There may be many like it, but this one is mine). I could have poured my heart and soul into getting my ilevel 100 weapon and probably have that by now-ish but.. Anyways. This is turning into a ramble. I'm not saying that everyone should give up stuff to go farm or craft but more.. illustrate the whole thing about time. Anyways. If there's anything I can really say about making gil is to do your challenge log. It's the best way ever to coincidentally get 35k a week guaranteed. After that, do dailies and maintain ventures (you get 6 ventures per day from dailies) and hope to god they wont come back with fish and a broken off window. And if you love doing the same thing over and over, consider becoming a shard-pusher.. Wind and lightning on Balmung especially. I just bought 1k lightning ones for what I'd call half and arm and then some, because I'm too lazy to go out and get my own shards. I hope that the housing is going to be worth the effort people put into it, with enough freedom to get creative. And I hope they release more items as well, I'd love to have a tent in my garden with like a fireplace in front of it, and host "camp outs". That is if they come with gardens.

My main, Sastra, will likely have her house simply pose as innrooms. But even more so for my alts - if one assumes that we can have one house per character - I'd actually be interested in sharing a house with someone else. And I'm sure there are more people in my situation who'd be happy to have a roomie. Mayhaps, when the time comes, a couple of threads can open where people look for roomies for their houses and that. I could see that as a good way to solve the fact that some cant afford it (or are low level alts) whilst still having a place they could retreat to or point at and say "I live there!". And I'd imagine it could even breed some new roleplay as you meet new people. Now, it wouldn't work if there wasn't good communication between the two but, it could probably work out. It'd all depend on how people gain access to other people's houses and that though. I sort of hope they make a whitelist system. They probably wont but it's a nice dream to have.

I say potentially because people on reddit are still debating the translation. But, the guesstimate so far sounds that it may cost between 850k and 2 million to start with. What do you guys think about this? Too much? Too little? I am especially curious to see if they would restrict how many houses one can have per server, cause if they don't restrict it I'm most definitely going to have housing on my 3 most used characters. But if they're going to do personal housing in the same fashion as FC housing, you could have entire streets occupied by one player. I know they're planning on adding rooms to FC housing, but I'm not sure they mean that as an instead of personal housing, cause that would mean that you need to be in a FC with a house which most certainly not everyone is. As for the price point, it may be a little high for new players, but I think it's a decent level. Especially if they're going to allow it to drop over time as well.

Thanks i'll do just that when I start Roleplaying. Oh, just out of curiosity do one of you know a Hyur named Aerostein Epitaph? He is very important to me so if you do know him I need to know. And agin thanks for your help. Whilst the name does ring a bell, I can't say I know the person more than having seen them around.

The only advice I can give you is an encouragement to try and push beyond your distant/non-social barriers. If it be your character or yourself that has these barriers, both can be a mouthful for any group to take in. It'll also help you greatly if you are able to take contact directly to potential groups, and I promise you none of them is going to bite you. Unfortunately I don't know any that primarily are mages, so I'll let someone else come with their recommendations ^^

We have created EuropaAlts so that peoples alts may be kept company. Send a /tell to sastra mortier or darte skyphire from your alt for an invitation. Sadly, Europa itself is full at 128/128 people. Requests to join from this point on will be put in a waiting list, and we'll get people in whenever there is space. If the demand is big, we may consider placeholdering people in EuropaAlts until a spot in Europa opens up. The only thing we can do is to keep sending feedback to squeenix and ask them to increase the LS sizes.

When it comes to using your creative imagination, the lore is the boundaries that you have to operate within (except! if you are with a group who does not abide by lore, but that's it's own can of worms) and seeing as there is no way the lore-developers could ever answer -all- of the questions we raise as roleplayers, such as "does actual cats actually exist?" & "How does magnets work. Wait, do we have magnets?" - the general consensus is that you do not invent things that are world changing and would, in essence, force aforementioned developers to notice your idea and write it in. As an example, if a fantasy universe doesn't have any matter of flying technology, such as airships or be-winged lions, stating that your character owns an airship (or a be-winged lion) would be world-changing - it opens up to faster travel, air warfare and a plethora of other things. The same thing could be said about inventing a new type of magic, or even a villan that is so evil there's no way the major factions wouldn't have noticed him/her/it. Assuming that the world has strawberries without actually having seen a strawberry plant or item in the world is something I wouldn't consider to be something that is world-changing or far fetched, especially if there's climates around where strawberries would grow as we know them to. Sometimes, it can help to give such things other names so that they don't remind of our world but falls in more with the world we're rping in. Say I was roleplaying a cook, I'd probably not serve pizza to my guests, rather I'd give an elaborate description or name it something like.. "garnished roundbread" or some such. As for everything else.. Try to apply common sense and get as much knowledge about the world as you can. There are unspoken rules, and they will variate depend on which end of the pool your chosen RP group is in, usually speaking you'll notice them as you toddle along. Some of the unspoken rules in my group is to keep mature-themed RP away from the masses (So, in a desolate area or party-chat), so that one doesn't elaborately describe the beheading of someone in front of a lot of potentially young and/or squeamish people. With time you'll have them all down, and they'll become things you don't actively have to keep in mind but are more a second-to-nature thing.

In my FC, we recruit in a few different ways. We use recruitment macro's to make people aware that we're around, or did - these days it's not needed as much. But in the start of our FC we'd do a macro per day per city (so 3 in total). People can then: - Contact us OOC - Via whispers or an application on the website. In this we'll detail if they wish to join oocly first, or if they wish to have their IC interview done first. The IC interviews are mandatory regardless. Some people need to see if they'd fit in oocly before involving their character, especially those who look for a company that is also social oocly - that's at least what I have noticed thus far. - Contact us IC - Our company both has word of mouth and posters/flyers flying about, so hearing about us IC isn't difficult. Then all they have to do is find a member in RP and ask to be taken to the leadership. In both cases, I'd be trying to talk to the person oocly as well, as we're an age-restricted (18+) company I at the very least need to know this. It also helps to give me a general image of how people are as a person and how serious they take the RP. In all cases I appreciate people who think of how their character would fit into the FC, instead of just applying to a random one/the biggest one out there and have the FC to try and accommodate to it. Considering that most FC's also have a social ooc part going on to some extend, I dont think you can truly just have an ic recruitment, since you'll need to be able to fit into the ooc part of it as well, even if you don't say much. Having a good talk can usually be enough for a recruiter to get a feel for it and let you onto a trial, which is what happens in my FC. Our trials can run for as long as we need to, to be able to see if they fit in or not. If someone doesnt fit in ic/ooc and nothing can be done to help it, we'll usually let them go with a recommendation of several other FC's they might suit better.

Thank you guys ^^ It took us a while but it is -so- worth it. Hoping to see people tonight!

I really don't want to be wearing a tutu. Bu I also don't want to change it's looks. But it's a tutu.. but... : Regardless, getting it when I've capped out this week.
