As my dear Sastra has already been asked to attend the ball by a gentleman, way before I even caught wind of what was happening, I can safely say I'll be doing what I can to show up Must stock up on energy drinks.

Looking for Tea Tavern Employees and/or Bards/Songsters/etc.
Maril replied to E'irawen's topic in RP Discussion
My company has a number of players that can take up work as barmaids and cooks. However, most of us are EU (GMT - GMT+1) players so I would like to ask in what hours and how often you'd want to run this? In the weekends some of us might be able to stay up late for example, so as to be able to RP in what'd be the early-evening-ish time for the US. -
What do you think of the new "chat" quest in the taverns?
Maril replied to Blue's topic in RP Discussion
As it is right now, I really dislike it, as it causes people to then also chat in /say and such, which is harder to ignore. But even more than that, I just dislike how much of a questhub the inns become, because they're overwhelmingly crowded and it's much harder for me to ignore what I see on screen (also if someone decides to ability spam etc) than what I see in the chatbox. Hopefully it'll die down, but until then I'm going to not be roleplaying around those areas. -

My favorite is Ul'dah, but even more than that, the roleplay that I get myself nosed into is oftentimes something that comes quite natural to Ul'dah, such as trading, and I also think we have a tendency to think of it as one of the more shady cities, where crime is a bit more of a thing. So I find myself frequently ending up there because my character is a trader at heart, and I think it's the same with a lot of the people I RP with. Limsa, in comparison seems a bit more prone to be more fancy/posh in it's design (I know, its lead by pirates but it looks fancy!). I'd imagine eating at the Bismarck would be like eating at a michellin star restaurant. Though if it was only for the amount of RP spots, I'd also favor limsa over the others. My least favorite is Gridania, I don't know exactly why but something just doesn't appeal to me in it.

The Magicians Guild triology takes the first prize for me. It's completely changed how I tend to perceive magic in games now - essentially, when I read the book my brain just went, YES, yes that is how you do it! It just felt absolutely right. The only downside? it's induced a bad case of book-hangoverness, I have tried to pick up other books but I keep thinking of that triology, and I just can't quite get over it. So everything else kind of fades in comparison.. And I know there are other good books out there. I just don't.. Feel it. Hopefully that will pass, because there are many other books I'd love to read.

I use the OOC clock, so 24 hrs for a full day->night->day thing. When roleplaying with my own FC, we usually end up mentioning that it's evening because we're europeans, but when roleplaying in bigger hubs and that I try not to comment on what time of day it is at all. Because well, when it's evening for me it's like afternoon for the rest of Balmung >.> If someone else mentions that it is afternoon for example, I just roll with that. Good thing my character is so fond of wine that there isn't a wrong time to consume it in So, all in all it's terribly complicated but yeah. I try not to think of it.

This must have taken a while to do! Very interesting read, so even if it didn't give many conclusive results, many kudos to you for carrying it out

Hello guys! Just a status update as we are now on the day before *the* day! We're all super excited, and some of you might notice some of our members have been traveling around to IC'ly promote the event further Our date-merc auction which will be the first event during the evening, and I can now reveal the people who will be auctioned off - At least, those who have let me know in advance. They are: Emelia Iscantel & Shadow Merodi Quinthel Moranguin A'linhbo Dhen Marx Duskwind Versoix La'Louvre Reinette Aurifont Senna Maham Masha'ra What they're being auctioned off for will be revealed at the event. I will remind everyone that the auction is being done with IC currency, meaning no actual gil will be exchanged. Due to this, we've also set an undisclosed upper limit for the auctions value. We're estimating that a down-to-earth/regular eorzean might pull in 20k gil in a months work (taking an hourly rate of 150 gil as the lowest minimum, this price is based on observing NPC prices) - obviously, more wealthy characters would earn more and characters performing as-demanded services might have no semblance of a regular income. Anyhow, we're taking this into account during the auctions. If you wish to partake in the raffle, you will have to have a free linkshell space on your character for the evening, and come to me during the evening (before 10pm GMT) - I will then organise you with a number so that you join the raffle. The sum up for grabs via the raffle starts at 50.000 gil! I will bring further updates as required, looking forward to seeing all of you there!

I had a lot of indecisiveness with Sastra. First of all, she started out as a miqote. For the first time ever, I'd actually -forgotten- to check with the naming convention, and it bugged me so much when I found out that I opted to change her to a Highlander. As it would turn out, I like the highlander lore a lot more. I created her personality and story through RP, simply by narrowing down some possible choices in my head and deciding in RP whenever someone asked, for example, "So where do you come from". Likes & dislikes over everything from food to the various races have been decided through her first encounters with them. So, one of her things is that she isn't too fond of lalafells because her first few encounters with them were negative. And somehow, with ample amount of time to develop, that has become Sastra as she is today. But, she constantly develops further, so who knows if she'll be the same another six months down the road.

Hello everyone Over the next coming days, I will be trying to take notice of who regularly logs on, so that I might be able to more closely identify inactive people. We are once again close to hitting the cap, and so any people that I estimate as being inactive will be removed and listed here. I will apologize in advance if I remove anyone who is still active - if such becomes the case, please contact me and you will be re-invited. Happy gaming!

I forgot to mention, I actually did put in my search info specifying if I was wearing class/craft gear, I am not IC. But, very few seem to read them. Using the /afk would be my last resort - because I don't want to mislead people into thinking I am not present. I prefer to be contactable since I am the leader of my FC, and I don't really want people to think I'm not there if they need to talk to me.. when I am. Messy! ._.

How do you show to others, that you at the moment are OOC and thus not roleplaying? I'm personally not a full-time roleplayer - and so I am not IC all the time, I have much more time OOC where I do stuff like crafting and pve, often standing in places/cities my character wouldn't be in at that moment in time in their RP. It would never make sense for my character to do -everything- icly, so that's the way I have been managing things in all MMORPG's I've been in. Recently however, I have been approached -a lot- by people icly even though I am OOC. I always personally assume that people who are 100% decked up in class/craft gear and are standing in areas that aren't obvious RP hubs as being OOC. Especially if someone is standing near the market boards, I'd never assume them to be IC unless I saw them walking and talking. And it's getting to me a bit because I don't want to have my character icly associated with being places she hasn't been, just because someone else was ooc and they saw her.. I know situations like that can be solved easily by saying to the person you are not IC, but there are times where I wouldn't notice because I'm tabbed out or on a brb - not to mention people might simply see her in the world somewhere and presume she was there icly without making contact. So that is why I am asking the above question. In other games there are addons who can do the job for you, by giving you the ability to set your status as OOC to everyone else with that addon, but no such thing exists for this game yet. It's something that I imagine wouldn't be the biggest problem to have, but if there was anything additionally I could do to further signal that I am OOC, then I would.

Well, the whole anger element does somewhat hint at something a little.. Heavier. I gave the two songs a brief listen, but from your description I could see her fitting something like this.. (Don't have your speakers on max for this) kv3eg_ZROeQ The above especially if she decides to let that anger be fueled at someone. Something a bit less evil, I would suggest this - It plays more on the theme of losing control of yourself / not being able to resist losing control: CSJXle3LP_Q I know they're in the opposite corner of the songs you listed, but the above songs are some that I have used before to sort of channel a mood for some of the more furious/evil/despair notes.

The event will be held on Balmung (hence the choice of putting the topic here) - but it will occur during EU hours. I decided to highlight it in the thread title so that people would perhaps be more aware of this, so people do not show up at the given time but in US timezones ^^

[TCRP] The Clandestine (Icly known as The Kindred) is still active and recruiting. We have a majority of EU players with some US players who only play in our primetime. At the moment we are around 15 people, focus is on player-generated storylines mixed with the odd casual RP. We've also got an event coming up next week Toss me a tell if you want. I can also invite you to the Europa linkshell, should you wish.

How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch?
Maril replied to Dat Oni's topic in Character Workshop
Sastra doesn't mind if people poke her or put a hand on her shoulder, so long as it is motivated. If she was patted on the head for no reason, she might look at the person and question the act. When it comes to more friendly situations and flirtatious, a number of factors play in, such as her mood and how much wine she's had. She's not the type to touch others as such, unless she's saving them from diving off a cliff or similar. -
If any of my characters mount up, it'll be on a chocobo, because they seem like the only type of transportation that is about as common as drinking water. I might be wrong in that, but that's how I take it given how the world looks and all. And it would likely be a rented one as well. I'd be reluctant to use any of the other mounts because they all seem "special" in some fashion that is out of reach for all of my characters. And I cringe a bit when I see people icly use the unicorn, but that's mostly because it's questline goes along the lines of it being like the only unicorn left in the world. It's a shame cause they're awesome, but oh well. If they ever add actual horses, I might see about having one of my characters icly save up to get one.

Very nice thread Would you mind hearing from people who can simply offer their crafts? If so.. I have Leatherworker, Carpenter and Cooking at level 50 - next up to 50 is weaver. I also have Fishing at 50. I'd be happy to make items for people if they cover the cost of the mats or bring the mats themselves, no tips required or anything. Cheap items I can make for free. I can reliably HQ anything that is not a star-recipe in any craft that is at 50 (using NQ mats), and I can do melds from those as well. I figured this might help people looking for new RP gear and suchlike - I play EU times, but if you catch me online and add me to your friends-list I can simply mail you the items, in the event that timezones are a bother. Oh, and I can do dyes as well. IC'ly, my character Sastra is a trader, with connections and the will to travel to retrieve items of interest, so there can be some IC involvement there if required/desired - But pay mind to that she is not a crafter, just a trader.
