Uh...you mean the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, right? Latin was a translation from those three languages. Awww, don't ruin my bad joke. D:
-
Well, if we are going to be smallfolk, ALL Bibles other than the Latin one are just translations. ;3
-
Definitely! I just wish that other characters would occasionally be negative towards Amielle because of her heritage. But Vachir doesn't know her heritage, he just knows Ami is nice. D:

Needs more gay male promiscuous Roes. <3

What do you love about the rp community?

What is RSP? It's a "character sheet" add-on from other MMOs Ahhh. I used MRP (My-Role-Play) addon when I played WoW. ^^ Kinda miss that there isn't something alike in FFXIV, but making a wiki site on here is WAY better than what any such addon could do. I just put my character's wiki site URL in my search info, and voila! -

What do you love about the rp community?
Altitis Acquired replied to Magellan's topic in RP Discussion
That it exists. That there are actually RP in this game, and lots of it! I've played MMO's with RP communities, but as soon you go in-game and try find any RP, it's so scarce or the RP is kept private. The fact I can just walk into the Quicksand and (most of the time) find someone to RP with makes me happy. ^^ Though the Quicksand is the main hub, I also like that people might meet up there, but then take the RP elsewhere, out in the world of Eorzea. It's awesome. -
Haha, I hate it when couple do that IRL as well.
-
It's alright, I covered those. ;P But if we're gonna be smallfolk here, I have a few to add: - People who write "u" instead of "you" when RP'ing. And all the similar lolspeak (as I like to call it). However, I am not including people who have English as a second language or those with dyslexia, because they have legit reasons to not be good at spelling. - People who go AFK mid-RP without giving a quick note about it. I can understand if something happened so you had to leave immediately, but if it's not something immediate, at least send a /tell and let me in the know, so I'm not waiting forever on you responding, maybe even thinking the chat had munched my post (which I assume every time someone doesn't reply or is just really slow in replying). - People who send multiple minor responses right after eachother, not giving me a chance to respond first. It's kinda like the real-life equivelant to someone who keeps interrupting you, not letting you answer first before moving on to the next topic. It's different if you are making a looooong explanation with lots of emotes etc., and can't fill it all into one post, but then make a small indication that you are continuing your post so I know I should wait before replying. ^^

I rarely see Roes in the Quicksand where I tend to just hang out. I can count them on one hand. But that's just the Quicksand, maybe all the Roes are mostly RP'ing everywhere else.
-
Well, then I couldn't put my vote in, since I only have that 1 Au Ra.
-
Well, take a guess.
-
- Mary/Gary Sues... People whose characters are "perfect", "flawless" and can do no wrong, who believes he/she is always right and everyone who disagrees with them are wrong. Essentially godmoders, who dodges ever attack and who forces his own emotes on others, for example. - People who use IC as an excuse to harass people. There are indeed people who have OOC problems with others and take it to IC, hiding behind the whole "it's my character, not me, can't you tell the difference between IC and OOC?" excuse. You should always be able to back out of RP you don't agree with, so when asking someone to please stop harassing you, they should respect that and stop. And the people I talk about are those who don't stop, but then continues the harassment, even doing so OOCly. I've encountered my fair share of these people, but luckily not so many in FFXIV, so that is indeed a positive point. ^^ - Trolling lollers who jump around and stand on tables in the inn when people are trying to RP, with the intention of being disruptive. People did this ALOT in WoW when I was RP'ing there, drinking enlargement potions, putting on huge armour and then danced on the tables while yelling alot of random shit. Basically "HEY, LOOK AT ME, I'M AN IDIOT!" kind of people.

Vachir hanging out on the beach of Costa Del Sol with a new friend he made. This game is so fucking beautiful! -
I've had one of my characters turn from being a Midlander Hyur into being a Highlander Hyur, using the IC explanation that through transformation/glamour magic, he had changed his appearance to hide his identity. He didn't actually "turn into a Highlander", but rather got his body modified and expanded so he would just appear as one. However, when I turned my main into an Au Ra, he was ICly a completely new character, while my old character has ICly gone AWOL. Though it's the same toon, they are two different characters. What I find most funny though is that while on my Au Ra, I've met people who ICly changed race one way or the other, but they all say it is a very rare occurance in Eorzea (because that's what the lore states), but he's already met 3 people to whom this has happened to. So it doesn't seem to be that rare after all. As long people have a nice IC explanation to why this has happened to them, then I don't mind playing along. I'm personally not fond of the whole "Oh, he/she's always actually been an Au Ra, he/she was just hiding with glamour", as I find it rather uncreative, but oh well. ^^

OOC drama and the RP community. (A rant)
Altitis Acquired replied to LadyRochester's topic in RP Discussion
When reading through the threads of this forum, I see alot of "I don't like this, so it shouldn't be a thing for anyone", and it kinda breaks my heart. We the RP community usually pride outselves with being open-minded and a friendly community, but there definately are people here who contradicts that heavily. I'm repeating myself at this point, but I am of the mind of anyone can RP whatever they want to RP, and if you don't agree with other people's RP, simply don't RP with them! As long as they are having fun with whatever they're doing, and as long they don't violate the terms of the game, then that's awesome! Some people like to level up first before they RP a character of any might, some like to jump straight into it and RP an officer of sorts, though only lvl 5. Some people like to make a character that is 100% lore-correct, some like to bend the rules a bit and maybe play a dragon in disguise as an Elezen, for example. Some like to join a linkshell of free company that mainly focuses on joining LGBT people together, while others don't feel the need to do so... And ALL of these things are alright! We don't all have to agree with what is right or wrong, there is no need to control or dictate how other people should play this game or how people should do their RP, etc.. People should be able to play whatever they want to play (again, as long it doesn't violate the main rules of the game). And as said, if you don't agree with someone's RP, just don't RP with them. Simple as that. ^^ Do they? Or do they simply want to have an understanding of the fundamental premise of the RP before engaging in it? The problem I see with your argument is that, ignoring the straw man which you've erected to knock down, you have an issue with the expression of preference in an open space and that is simply something that neither can nor should be "fixed". I would ask you what the difference is between, say, an RPer going to the Quicksand and specifically looking for another character with which to debate Eorzean geopolitics and a person going to the library and immediately heading to the fantasy section rather than choosing a book at random. I hold the firm belief that if somebody wishes to engage in random role-play then it should be as organic as possible. If I head to the Quicksand - something I would not do often for various reasons - then I, personally, would find it rude to message someone and outline my terms. I would, instead, much prefer to go with the flow. If something doesn't work out then I always have the power to take my leave of the situation and extensive planning is better suited to coordinated events rather than every last little interaction. Personally I find such an approach leads to stagnation - and if people enjoy that sort of thing more power to them! I'd simply ask that you avoid brushing aside my personal opinion by throwing the term 'straw man' around. At no point did I suggest that my way is the right way. I'm simply outlining my own thoughts and concerns. It's a debate, after all! Though I imagine it's a mere misunderstanding! I completely agree with you, Graeham. I think it feels alot more fluid and natural if you don't plan ahead. Sure, your character has a background and a personality that you play out, but you can't control what happens to them. I personally don't like to RP as if everything is scripted beforehand and you are just following the script. It's more like real-life where occurances happen and then you have to react to these occurances. ^^ -
The Au-Ra immgration: How is your character taking it?
Altitis Acquired replied to LadyRochester's topic in RP Discussion
As an Au Ra, Vachir was heavy-hearted at first due to the loss of his tribe and family, and now suddenly all alone in a strange realm with lots of strange people around him. His tribe was already very secluded, so he was not used to being around anyone else, and now there's suddenly several races and thousands of people from each around him every day. He knows he's a guest in the realm and do not wish to be a burden, so he's tried to learn about Eorzea, its people, its customs and culture - trying to acquaint himself into this new, strange realm and its ways. And along the way, he's met some really nice people who have been very welcoming and has helped him, teaching him about Eorzea and themselves. He still has ALOT to learn, but he's slowly realized that the Au Ra people, especially the Xaela, won't unite as a people, as they are too used to their tribal ways and the wound of having been forced into exile is still fresh. So instead he's preparing himself for the idea that Eorzea might have to be his new home for the rest of his life. -

LGBT Characters and Related Groups (Balmung)
Altitis Acquired replied to Tortles's topic in RP Discussion
My character is an ignorant bigot, sure, but he is not homophobic, nor has he made any comments against homosexuals in any way shape or form. I'm sorry if Allister hurt your feelings because he's rude, but please don't lie about my character. Cheers. The comments weren't at me and it isn't a lie. But due to the respect for the mod's request, I'll leave the topic be.
