1. Allister has stood in the mid of the Quicksand spewing blatant homophobic remarks at other people... so take that as you will.
2. I haven't seen her myself, but I read on the reddit about others who had and they do indeed think she is half elezen/hyur. And some even think Alphinaud might be as well.
3. All people have the potential of being jerks, no matter their sexual orientation.
4. It's only normal for people to seek out others with common interests or background. It's not about seperation, so there's no need to try and make it about that.
5. Yeah, I get what you're saying, and I am really thinking I might just not have the mindset for it.
6. So, I am playing FFXIV Heavensward. I made my Au Ra. Absolutely love him. And the way I made his background story, being a Dark Knight is THE jobclass for him… Which was absolutely stupid of me to do! I have fallen in love with the Dark Knight ever since it was announced. It just looks absolutely awesome! The armour, the greatsword, the aesthetics of the skills, the dark theme… it’s just perfect. However… it’s a tank class! I have ALWAYS played DPS classes in MMO’s. I have tinkered a little bit with being a tank and healer, but I feel most comfortable with being DPS, because then other people’s virtual lives don’t depend on me, because all I have to focus on is to deal some damage! I am incredibly intimidated playing a tank. I’ve practised with some low-level dungeons and sometimes it went well, other times it didn’t go too well, and my concentration level is so intense that I am getting headaches, because I just don’t want to fuck up! I might not be cut out to be a tank. Just thinking about doing some high-level dungeons or raids, it freaking terrifies me! And it saddens me so much, because I really love the Dark Knight jobclass. Machinist looks rather cool too, so I might pick that up instead. I would have to re-make my character, as being a Machinist would be very out-of-character for him, and I can’t break my headcanon for him. So that’s my escape plan if I just can’t grasp being a tank. Rant over. :3
7. People can RP whatever they like. And if you disagree with their RP, just don't RP with them. ^^
8. There was a bar, an FC house in Lavender Beds that was made into a gay bar called the Speakeasy. It was actually a really awesome place, but due to said drama I talked about earlier in this thread, it kinda shut down. Too bad, because it was fun to go and be a place and just be gay with other gays. It's like when people meet at cons to do cosplay, or go to tournaments to play Yu-Gi-Oh or whatever. People sharing interests and having fun. ^^
9. She just makes herself appear a bit older than she is, to make the other leaders take her more seriously.
10. I've always found this interesting on a personal level, noticing how this works since I was a wee queer lad just learning of the world of gay clubs and the like. I know of many relationships that turned out to be stable, wonderful, long-lasting, and committed that started out as "oh we met at a club/bar/party" which is shorthand for "we were drunk, thought each other hot, slept together, and found out we liked each other." I mean of COURSE this happens with straight men and women, too. It's just slightly funny to me how often it seemed to happen when I was younger. I'm a bit too old to care about the scene these days to keep tabs on it. On a more serious note, like... it's -slightly- offensive to read some of the stuff. "The only reason this gets brought up is to bang" (paraphrasing). Yes and no? I mean for some people sure, and some others no. For me it's a little deeper than that? I mean, look if I wanted to RP for sex I know of places I can go do that, easily. But my MMO characters have ALWAYS been different than that. They've always started as just "I like the look of this person and this class," and then they have grown from there into REAL characters with motivations and a life, mind, and muse of their own. I immerse myself in them and enjoy playing the game through their eyes and mind. So I've RP'd a lot of stuff with Tenrilaux, and it didn't even have to all be with other players. It's just him living in Eorzea as an adventurer and some people call him a hero yeah sure whatever but still. Romance RP to me, is an extension of that life. I've done it all ways: explicit, fade to black, heterosexual life-partners (thanks, tvtropes!), forever alone/bachelor, etc. It is probably one of the most interesting ways to get a DIFFERENT kind of character growth, if it's done correctly. I will never knock anyone's flavor of RP, it's generally not how I work, but like.. being out there as an LGBT player and character is for things beyond just "let's get my junk wet." Granted yes the bearing in THIS world setting is purely for a relationship bent, but that is simply because Eorzea is so open regarding sexuality. Haven't seen much regarding gender fluidity, but that may change over time. Exactly, thumbs up!
11. I don't mind if people want to make their RP exclusive to certain people. I'm not one of them, but I've met people who, yes, only wants to RP with other gay people, or a miqo'te who only RP's with other miqo'te, etc... It's their choice, and people can RP whatever they want. Everyne doesn't have to RP with everyone if they don't feel like it.
12. Personally, I only RP gay characters... Well, I have ONE character and he is gay. And that's about the only thing my own sexuality has to do with my character. Other than being a tall demon boy with anime hair, of course, which I totally am IRL as well.. *cough*
13. LGBT here as well, and yes, there are indeed a good portion of us on Balmung, and there are indeed linkshells that are LGBT themed. I have been part of a few, but not at the moment. The ones I've been part of always started off great, but then ended in unnecessary drama. Too many bitches in the same kennel, as it were. ;P
14. Well, it's kinda just following the Eorzean calendar and their "zodiac" so to speak, right?
15. Awesome post. ^^ It's nice to see how people are embracing the Au Ra and adding to the lore, taking from real life equivelants, to expand and explain their lifestyle.
16. I'm European and I play on Balmung. There's always people on Balmung and you can almost always find someone to RP with. ^^
17. Yeah, don't do that. :dodgy: I haven't seen any other Arslans. But if there are others, it might be because it means lion, or it might be because of this. Currently running anime gets a lot of imitators. Myself, it was partially the definition and partially Arslan Khan. Which, before anyone mentions it, could be translated as Lion King, provided accuracy isn't your thing. The next time I see you, I shall hold you up towards the sun from a high rockcliff so everyone can see the newborn king!
18. I've noticed a good handful of male Xaela are called Arslan, Aslan, Aslund and the like. Since Arslan means "lion" in Mongol, I take it that's why it is popular... oh, and because of Narnia.
19. Being European has its perks. I've been able to log on and play without alot of trouble, as long I do so in my daytime hours. As soon I try to do so in my nighttime hours, that's where the trouble starts.
20. I'm trying the Dark Knight, but I have never really been tanking before, always been DPS, but I have fallen in love with the DRK. Luckily there are some awesome guides and tips already, like this:
21. I could see the Xaela tribes putting their differences aside once a year and meet together in a great gathering for this festival.
22. I figured there'd be a lot more emo Au Ras o: I'M NOT EMO!!! *cuts wrists and listens to Green Day*
23. The struggle is real. But at least it is metal as hell! Literally!
