  1. There was a certain note of incredulity in the way Berrod's lower eyelids lifted into a squint. The Highlander seemed to be deliberating if the armored fellow was being genuine or if he was speaking in jest. The armor it self did no service to his attempted reading, and so his assessment was fruitless. To cut his squinty stare short, he decided to take a sip from his drink which to his surprise was not at all alcoholic. "Rolanberry juice," came the rumbled murmur. A less intelligible mumble followed, something along the lines of, "...would enjoy this very much." "I suppose I do see you about, Lady Crofte," the highlander admitted, "Though I'm never the one to start idle conversation with someone in armored uniform. I'm inclined to think that this is the most we've actually spoken to each other in -- well, moons." Conversation without the purpose of business was never Berrod's strong suit and he knew this well -- though for the sake of dispelling the awkwardness that had begun radiating from him in waves, he practically pounced on the self-proclaimed Judge's introduction. "I am Berrod Armstrong," He reciprocated, "Nothing special to my name, as yet."
  2. The only real research I did outside of lore stuff was on different martial arts and the seven chakras. I have enough daddy issues to play Berrod without needing to refer to much else.
  3. Berrod's elements are earth and lightning. I tend to make reference to them depending on if he's being defensive or offensive -- and not just in terms of combat! Earth, for when he is guarding his body, or even his emotions; lightning for when he is on the move, or...well, striking.
  4. LOL! The Slave driver herself has shown up! >.< I'm working as quickly as I can! I have all weekend to do such...But <.< It'll be done tonight. Second of all...PFFFT! I still need to get you back for knocking Matthrian the Fu#@ out. It'll be Brianna who'll be on her back groaning <--- FROM GETTING her ass kicked! If she can still groan he ain't doing it right! Also, if you need bodies to run dungeons, poke around for me. I enjoy helping folks catch up, and I have all jobs maxed and reasonably geared.
  5. Bingo winners get a hug from Warren. While he's still in his armor. The last time Berrod got a hug from Warren he ended up with cracked ribs and a lungful of dust. PASS. Highlander group hug? SOMEONE CALL A HEALER
  6. I was typing up a very polite response that included my reason for not attending and then I saw this. It...hmm. It turned me off a bit. I think that if someone wants to explain/justify/express why they won't/don't want to attend it shouldn't be frowned upon. If anyone starts a debate over it, it's on them. Good luck with the summit though. It's quite the undertaking, and I hope you guys enjoy it!

  8. No more Elusive Jumping out of line at the last minute before I lock folks in? lol! Sorry man! I told Bri that something came up which it did! Moment Fiance goes *point* You're mine...I cannot fight >.< wuh-pshhh~
  9. That is to say, people who roleplay primarily for erotic content as opposed to people whose roleplay may contain erotic content. something something adults pen0r I'm not a roleplayer who 'happens' to ERP. That turn of phrase makes it sound so defensive lol. I don't accidentally emote my characters doing the down and dirty and says 'oops how did THAT get in there'. I am a roleplayer who engages in the act to narrate a sexual or otherwise erotic situation when I so desire, which is honestly nobody's business because I'm an adult who roleplays with an adult. Hell, I posted a somewhat erotic piece on the bulletin board once. That said, it is not the primary focus of my roleplay; just as I roleplay fight scenes, bar scenes, or the occasional field-trek, I choose to sometimes (when I'm not fucking lazy, which is ...almost all the time) roleplay sex. ^ That's basically my account, for a bit of perspective.
  10. Work out, rugby practice, work out some more because it's fun, then nerd out at the Grindstone tonight! Sunday I'm going to stay in bed all day and do NOTHING. ...I can't wait. THAT'S RIGHT! You played Rugby! Man...I miss Rugby and Hockey and Football...Pretty much any sport I could throw myself into someone else. Oh well V__V And yes! I forgot to mention that I'll be winning the Grindstone Saturday of course. *Grin* My days of winning the Grindstone are long over -- but my days of working it continue lol. I'll be emoting scowls and grunts down at the line of hopefuls from on the rock.

  12. I'll RP with you. I'm saying that now because I would not want my first experience to be general unwelcome, even if I'm doing something that I think is fun that is generally frowned upon. I gave you a couple pointers as to how to not make ripples in the point with it. I want you to feel welcome, I want you to try, and see for yourself if it works, or if it doesn't work -- if you enjoy it, or if you don't, or if you can pull it off or if you can't. I want you to see as well, that even through keeping something like that secret it CAN make a difference for you, because you get to experience your character's internal struggles and learn/develop more about her through them. I want you to have fun, I want you to grow. I'd like to think that's what this place is about. Edit: If we're being trolled, I'm good with taking the bait. You know, juuust in case.
  13. I see a lot of the sentiment that 'that backstory doesn't add anything to your character'. While I disagree with that for my own reasons, even if it didn't add anything...then what's the difference! May as well if it adds something to your enjoyment, right? As Warren said, if nobody knows about the backstory IC and you're playing it for your own fun...you may as well! Concepts like these, while frowned upon generally -- well forget that, if YOU enjoy it, and if you can pull it off in a way that doesn't smash a hole into other people's enjoyment (and by that I don't mean 'I don't like your idea'. It has to be more profound than that)...go for it. Also, if you develop an interest in the lore during your time roleplaying and need anything at all explained, there are a few good heads on here who will be more than willing to explain the why, how, and goodness-gracious-me of things.
  14. We have some defensive sorts here. Don't let it bug you. Nah its not just find it odd. I do not think I said anything rude in the thread? I can't begin to explain that. I know I get my dander up when people insult Batman. We've all got our triggers. If you're intent on using the backstory as something that doesn't come up often, you might want to restructure your wiki a little? Maybe spoiler the first bit so it doesn't immediately turn anyone off, then embellish a little more on your history in Eorzea. She appeared in Western Thanalan? Did she stumble out of the desert knowing nothing of the world? What was her reaction to reaching Ul'dah? That sort of stuff, it'll make her a little more accessible for folks trying to invest themselves in you. If she showed up to a public place and started asking about the history of the city, you'd find plenty of folks willing to show her around. That can work! Or perhaps make her backstory something privately documented. I've actually been tempted to do that with my own character a few times, even though his back story fits in with the world's lore. In the end, the choice is yours! Either way, I suppose I forgot to tell you welcome. Welcome! I'm sure you'll work out whatever kinks you need sorted out in good time for us to catch you around sometime. The game is fun, the RP is -- good lord, it's fantastic. I'm sure some of the more...short responders in the thread mean well, but with everything laid out before you, the choice is still yours in the end.
  15. Not gonna lie, that tile originally said "Berrod DCs." Dude when I saw the board I actually LOOKED for a 'Berrod DCs' tile.
  16. I'm looking at that 'Overseer DC's' square and thinking of ways to make Warren suffer I'm also looking at the casual racism square and I want to give him a hug
  17. My advice? Play as you like. The moment you start asking a 'community' of people to start deciding what you play is the moment you place your fun into someone else's hands. You wanna play a norse goddess who has to start over as a mortal on Hydaelyn? Go for it! No, I mean it, go for it. The events prior to her banishment -- is that a word? -- are apart from the lore of the world you are going to be playing her in, so it's not really getting in the way of anything unless she's going to be prancing around declaring what she is and where she's from. It's actually an interesting angle, I'm personally interested in seeing what you do with it; how you illustrate her struggles, her mental state, and how she copes, learns, grows and forms relationships in this 'new world'. The ONLY advice I'd give you on the finger-wagging side is just...don't run around screaming it out to everyone. That'll get really bad, really fast. Even some the loremongers have their bit of lorebendery and lorebreakery going on, so in the end the only person in a proper position to judge, is you! In addition, so long as her origins remain under wraps and your character behaves like a denizen of Eorzea (or at least TRIES)...there's nothing different between roleplaying with her and roleplaying with some other fresh-faced, aethersick fresh-off-the-boat yahoo. What you have done for your concept isn't something I'd do myself...I really like getting deep into the lore of a world and establishing a backstory within it. However! I wouldn't discourage you from trying that -- EVEN if it's just to learn from it. Have fun with it, yet understand that it is unusual and will require quite a bit of discretion to pull off. If you can't pull it off, it's not the end of the world; you can rewrite and try again. Such is the nature of roleplaying and learning. ...and if you are a troll? Good one, lol. Edit: My post was with regard to the backstory only, I didn't address the whitemagery.
  18. I never created the rules of the internet, you know. Galaxy cupcakes with chocolate flavored icing! Chocolate ice cream because she's sweet! inb4 someone labels berry as something salty and meaty
  19. Just a little bit more for the request: http://i.imgur.com/JlaiMV0.png[/img] Berrod and Caleb aren't the type to show any sort of affection in public. Neither of them are particularly good at expressing their feelings or being 'romantic'. However, they have their moments out in the open -- usually a quick brush of fingers, or a look... http://i.imgur.com/7HHuEjX.png[/img] ...and the occasionally snuck-in filthy whisperings. They're only guys, after all.
  20. Wait, who won this one? Looks like a tie to me.
  21. Hm, I'll bite. http://i.imgur.com/3qAuau9.jpg[/img] After beating each other senseless in a spar, Caleb and Berrod often enjoy a quiet bath together. ...quiet until they start arguing about who's going to win the next one.
  22. Berrod ends up being friends with all the people he hates, it's like a bad sitcom sometimes, I swear...
