1. Just wanted to update everyone. We currently have 3 Jakkyas, 3 Molkots and 2 Polaalis in the FC now A 4th Jakkya will be added soon, so we really need some more members of the Polaali family now. If anyone wants to make a member of the feisty, passionate and strong Polaali family, send a PM to Knight Kat or Vet's gurl on the RPC. You can also contact Kiht Jakkya or Miah Polaali in-game. However, the Jakkya family and Molkot family are still open for recruitment with plenty of room to spare as well.
2. Excellent, we need Rae, even if its just at the start.
3. UPDATE Tomorrow, the 1st, 3pm PST is when our little interrogation is going to take place. Kiht has a plan, but the success of it will greatly depend on the presents of a few people who did not sign up, so I can only hope they will be there anyways.
4. OMFG HOLY SHAT JOIN OUR KEEPER FC WE OFFER PIE!!
5. Well it seems there isn't much to be found on Keepers really, but you did a great job finding what you did. You even found that -one- Keeper NPC in Coerthas. This does not tell us too much, but I see the potential to use this if someone wanted to decide where their Keeper could be born. Though, I would argue that it is valid to have your Keeper born almost anywhere you want with a simple back-story to explain it. At least this tells us one thing for sure: the devs give us little more than crap when it comes to Keeper lore. I hope they release more in the future. They need to give Duskwights more stuff too. No joke.
6. I would like to point out that the link TheLastCandle gave you is a good example of how different players interpret the possibilities of how Keeper groups could be run, but it is -way- outdated. Also, all of it is pretty much entirely player-made. I assume you've read the Keeper lore here? http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Miqo%27te This is also a helpful video on Miqo'te lore, and does have some interesting little tidbits about Keepers. ((Warning! Info below contains minor spoilers about the Archery quest line.)) In-game example of Keeper groups would be the Coeurlclaw Poachers, Raptor Poachers and Pawah Majuuk's group that you learn a bit about in the Archery quest line. The Archery quest line has a lot of little hints about Keeper lore such as a hint that short-bow archery is time-honored tradition for Keepers, some Gridanian people (likely some Wildwood Elezen) think of Keepers as "savages" which suggests a disdain for some kind of lifestyle. Some Keepers have an interesting accent while some do not. Wood Wailers are brutally harsh on poachers, and there is one Keeper NPC in one quest that says she was poaching to feed her starving family. I took screen shots of pretty much all the dialogue from the archery quest line so I can prove everything I have written. While I don't remember if the lore specifically states that Keepers are only traditionally found in the Black Shroud, that is highly likely the case since the vast majority of Keeper NPCs are found in Black Shroud and Gridania. South Shroud is a place with a lot of Keeper poachers, and where most of the archery quest line takes place. East Shroud has another small poacher group called the Raptors. However, it is hinted that not all traditional Keepers are poachers. Leih Alipoh of the Archer's guild is said to not be a Gridanian at birth. She mentions growing up in a small farming village where she learned a traditional family archery. It should also be noted that there are plenty of Keepers in the ranks of the Wood Wailers and Twin Adder. However, they do not seem to follow any Keeper traditions, but rather, they do follow Gridanian traditions.
7. Next Lancer lesson is tomorrow, the 29th, at 6pm PST All who want to be students are welcome. And while any spectators are welcome too, please know that we are not going to stay near the Lancer's Guild this time. Kiht is taking students into the field. Sorry this is short notice, I just now noticed that tomorrow is the last chance for one person who signed up to attend this week.
8. Males who are born of one of the three families are kept with the group for as long as they want to stay. Males who are not born of the families have to be approved for "adoption" by the Matriarch. After that, they too can stay as long as they want. Males who are not "adopted" or born of the families can visit if they are friendly to the group, but are not allowed to stay permanently. This is actually the case for females as well when it comes to our group. The leader of the FC, Miah Polaali, wishes for the group to eventually somewhat reflect the greater numbers of females mentioned in the lore, so slots for "adopted" and family-born males are limited. However, there are only two members of the Jakkya family and two members of the Polaali family right now (all female). There are no more Molkots right now. Everyone else is adopted or employee. So, we really have plenty of room for males and females as it is. One other person may be joining the Jakkya family soon with a male character. We could really use some Molkots, but will gladly welcome more Jakkyas and Polaalis. Unless there is a sudden influx of male characters, I will not put a stop to the recruitment of male characters anytime soon.
9. Kiht was just sitting there, trying to chillax with Rinh'li then; suddenly, this Highlander comes along. Kiht Jakkya does not remember inviting the Highlander............
10. Yeah, not all characters would be interested in such an event, but the preparation that will be needed (which Kiht will explain shortly), many might be able to help with.
11. Next Lancer Lesson. Kiht seriously thinks her students are insane. She is fed up, and is going to train them the way -she- was trained since they are not getting the idea! In other words, shite is going to get real. For everyone who wants to be a part of this, sign your freaking life away here. New students are still welcome. http://doodle.com/3sv87gr3tmqzidim We meet at the Lancer's Guild, but we will not likely stay there this time. That place is not dangerous enough. Unless you want to just watch, bring a pole-arm and some armor. :bomb:
12. Thank you everyone that submitted little tidbits of info for me to use on your characters. If anyone else wants to submit some info, you can do so at any time. And, yes. We still have that assassin to interrogate. So, here is the doodle for that. Vote your availability if you want your character to attend the interrogation. http://doodle.com/9r62myw978rc6e4d But before we can do that, there is one thing Kiht needs to do this week for preparation. Anyone who is online is welcome to join in. She will tell everyone over the LS.
13. The “Morbolvine Clan” Free Company has been revived and active for many many months now. I am the (unofficial) recruitment officer in the FC. The RP FC already has a nice group of active members, and we are looking to expand a bit by adding more Moon-keeper characters. Note: the word “clan” is part of the FC's name, and should be regarded as nothing more than part of a name. Like a sport team named after an animal. It is -just- part of the name. Requirements: 1: Keeper of the Moon character that does -not- scoff at traditional Keeper practices (detailed in our LS Hall Profile and FC website). 2: Be online at least once a week (preferably more often). 3: Be willing to learn. That's it! There is not much lore on Keeper of the Moon traditional culture, but we abide by what little there is. You do not have to know it, we will teach you. Its all easy to learn. Also, there is room for characters who break the mold a bit. We are not too strict. Here is a link to our FC website. http://morbolvines.enjin.com/ Here is the link to our RPC Linkshell Hall page. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=7564 Here is a link to group traditions and family bios that are player-made, and likely exclusive to our player-made Keeper group. http://morbolvines.enjin.com/forum/m/23194651/viewthread/12962324-clan-lore Any questions about the FC, families and anything related, can be asked on this thread, via PM on this site or in-game. For in-game contact, send a tell to Kiht Jakkya or Nheu'a Polaali.
14. UPDATE! It's time to advance our plot into the next chapter. Truth is, Kiht knows the history of about less than a half-dozen of the members of the LS. Most have had no reason to tell her, or anyone else for that matter, what their past was like. This kinda makes it hard for me to intertwine peoples' personal character stories into the plot. So, maybe tell me OOC? I do not want everyone to spill the beans on every little character secret, and historical tale. The one question that will help me is: What would the Holy See know about your character? Lets put aside questions about what the Holy See might or might not be capable of. Lets focus on just what -you think- Ishgard would have on record about your character. You could tell me everything the Nation has on record about your character, or just some of the things on record. Answering this question is OPTIONAL. It is an opportunity to intertwine your character into the plot better. People can answer this question on the thread, but I would recommend that the answer be sent to me via PM on this site.
15. Just a reminder. Lancer class is today, May 24th, at 6pm(six PM) PST. All welcome. Meet outside the Lancer's guild in Old Gridania.
16. I am very sorry to hear this. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. I really freaking mean that. I hope everything gets better. Don't worry about anyone else right now. I can't speak for everyone, but I understand.
17. No Ruru, DO NOT do what Cris does. He is a -bad- role model. :dodgy:
18. I debated showing these off because I feel  about them. Sitting together does not work as well on a chair. Kiht Jakkya does not want to be dinner.
19. Lancer class update. Next class will be held on Saturday at 6pm PST. Only two signed up, so I had to go by their availability. However, since it is on a Saturday, maybe more people will show up. Again, all are welcome. Even if your character is only considering being a Lancer. The class is for all skill levels as well. Anything below a Master of the Lance can learn something.
20. If you still need assistance for the rescuers, I would be willing to join in. If the kidnappers are Ixal or Slavers, my character would practically help without hesitation. However, she also knows -of- Rurutani and Siha. She has never talked to Siha, but knows she is a friend of Roen, and knows Ruru is a friend of Kage. Small world  If she knows who the abductees are, she would definitely want to help. Kiht Jakkya lives in Gridania/Twelveswood. She is a skilled scout, hunter and Lancer. Despite all those qualifications, I do not play her to be over-powered. She is no Dragoon, she is just a Lancer. She has moderate archery skills too, but I can leave that out if it is too much. I'll just say she left her bow at home. She certainly can fight, but has her weaknesses. I am not afraid to allow her to get injured. She can get beat to heck if that is what happens. I agree 100% with Siha about healing magic. Should not be instant or absolute. If I start the thread with all you, I will not back out of it until it is time for me to. If everyone does essay-like posts, and I need to do that to keep up then I can guarantee a single post per day. If posts are a few decent-sized paragraphs, I can post multiple times a day. If all that sounds good to you K'nahli, count me in.
21. Thank you so much for the support everyone  I will have more on where chapter 2 will be going soon.
22. “My gratitude, Byron.” Kiht said as she started to slap her twitching leg. She slowly started to move her left leg, it was already starting to regain control. They were now safely behind a large tree trunk. It was good cover, but would not last for long. The Seeker archer had not been able to take aim on them during that ordeal. “Swive it all!” The Seeker said in an irritated tone. Kiht had seen them both, but could not tell which clan they belonged to. A Miqo'te archer, and a Lalafell caster. They could not be Faces of Mercy. There was no way. However, they were likely hired by them. Kiht had thought. It did not matter really. Two ranged attackers. Kiht unstrapped her short-bow. She was the only one who could return fire. She closed her eyes and prayed that she was now skilled enough with the bow to be a match for them. She stood to her feet. The expression on her face betrayed her anger. Her ears were pinned back as she gritted her teeth. Her sharp canines became evident as her lips parted. “I am fine.” She said in a stern tone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Seeker looked to the Lalafell with a scornful expression, but he did not even regard her. “Bah! Behind a tree huh? I'll flush em out!” He said as he started to march forward. He boldly marched into the road, and out in the open. He closed some distance, but was still no where near melee range from where Byron and Kiht took cover. “Hiding are we?” He said as he charged up a spell. Of course, without line of sight he could not hit them. But, he started casting lightning bolts at the tree they were using for cover. They would not be hit with lightning, and the Lalafell knew it. He wanted to try to scare them. He loved causing fear and pain. He specialized in torture. That was his style; bitterly dragging the fight out at the misfortune of his victims. He started laughing manically as he cast bolt after bolt at the tree. The Seeker did not like his style at all, but she was a trained killer. She would take advantage of the situation. Use the Lalafell to cause an opportune moment for her to strike. She quickly planned it out. The Lalafell would eventually run out of aether. The moment that happened they would charge him. Or, they may even charge him before then. She would take one down with an arrow at that point. She just had to wait. To bide her time. She wasn't worried about her companion. He was trained in many magic arts. He could use umbral ice to regenerate aether. He would be limited to ice spells; but essentially, he could cast magic for a long while. The sun was setting, and she knew it, but they still had nearly half a bell. The Lalafell would have to switch to umbral ice in less than ten minutes if he kept up his attacks. The Seeker figured this would be over long before the sun set. The end of a perfect day; the death of her targets. However, her plans quickly changed when Kiht came around the trunk with her own short-bow. “She has a bow?!” The Seeker said with in a surprised tone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kiht took a snap-shot at the Lalafell. He was expecting a retaliation. He threw his scepter into quick swinging motion that caused a magical disruption in the air in front of him. Kiht's arrow was veered off course. The Seeker quickly returned fire, but Kiht was already moving back behind the tree at that point. The Seeker's arrow missed Kiht's head by ilms. Kiht let out an abrupt growl as she slammed her back against the tree. If only she could concentrate a series of arrow shots at the Lalafell, she could probably overwhelm him. However, there was no way to do that with the Seeker watching and ready. The Miqo'te archer had to be taken down. “Byron, please distract the Lalafell, I do not care how you do it. Just keep him busy as I go after the archer.” She said in a rushed voice. Kiht knew what she had to do. A game of forest combat was in order. Kiht would use the trees, rocks, brush and shadows of the forest as cover while moving to close the distance. During this ordeal, the two would exchange arrow shots in an attempt to restrict the movements of each other. Kiht assumed her foe was a fellow Keeper. She had to assume her foe was familiar with this type of combat. It is how all in the Twelveswood fought. The varying terrain elevations, and all the cover meant it was the only way archers could fight. As long as Byron kept the Lalafell distracted, Kiht would have a chance to close in on the Miqo'te archer. Kiht prepared to leave the cover of the tree to head in the other direction that would take her away from the road into more tree and brush cover. If Byron surveyed his environment he would notice a few things aside from trees and brush. He may not have been a ranged fighter, but maybe something in the environment could help him. Upon inspection of his surroundings, Byron might notice some loose stones on the ground next to him. On his side of the road, not too far from his position, was a small strange-looking tree that was very different from all the epic trees of the Shroud. This one was about the size of an Aevis. It had a thick misshapen trunk, randomly arranged branches and what looked like the outline of an inhuman face on the trunk. It was currently motionless. On the opposite side of the road, Byron might notice a sleeping Banemite! The huge vilekin were known to be heavy sleepers that were not usually roused unless something or someone was crazy enough to strike the creatures while they slept. The day had been a hot and dry day in the Shroud, so the dirt on the road was loose and dry at that moment. Kiht would make her move soon. Hopefully, Byron would think of some way to deal with the caster before he had a chance to cast anything at Kiht.
23. Thus ends the first chapter of the Ishgard Exiles plot. What I plan to improve for chapter 2: My GM/DM skills. I'll admit that the event being delayed was mostly my fault. However, I am still quite new to GM/DMing events. I did not expect the endless flurry of countless tells. I did not expect our original event site to be swarming with baddies, and the back-up site to be a place for Leves AND I did not expect 20 players to show up since it was looking like I was going to have problems even getting 14 to show up. In the future, I will anticipate all of this, and do even more prior planning. Event times. I -did- say in a previous post that this event would take awhile. It was a huge event with a major effect on the plot. There was no speeding it up, but some people got antsy. From now on, almost all future events will be kept under or at the two-hour mark. Only special ones will be longer, and in those cases, I will make it abundantly clear beforehand. Combat System. The combat system will not be used in every event where there is fighting. In most cases, I will allow everyone to free-form. However, when we do use it again, it needs some improvement. If you think about it, it wasn't too bad. We WON after all, and didn't need to use all our trump abilities or trump characters. Something like making the roll 1D100 would be an improvement. The rolz RNG system seems to have an odd way of giving uber-high numbers or pathetically low numbers with not much in between when we use 1D20. I also may replace trump abilities with a forgo allowance which will let everyone forgo a bad roll once during an event. What I plan to change. I am hoping to get the Exiled Order into the open world a bit more. We were a group of exiles hiding from assassins. But now that our enemies have been dealt a heavy blow, they will have to operate in a more subtle and careful way. The Exiles can now maybe become something more. Something like a group that aids and protects the interests of Ishgard exiles and refugees throughout Eorzea. Character conflict. Xydane gave us some character conflict with his knights, but he is done with the plot for now. We need others to fill that void, and if we get out more into the open world, I am sure it can be easier to find those who will be at odds with us. I will be looking into this. Events. Instead of a huge event or meeting every two weeks, I will be doing small-scale events twice a week. These will be for the purposes of keeping us entertained and busy in between major events. They will not be obligatory, and will be held at various times. They may even be random sometimes. I am still working on the main point of the story, but without much lore on Ishgard, it is not easy. Hopefully the future update will reveal more lore for us to use. Despite the complications, I enjoyed the event, and I hope everyone else did as well.
