The Second Annual Royal Ball of Ul'dah - Update (Time Set)
Star Lin replied to Erik Mynhier's topic in Chronicled Events
Works for me. Might give Kest a chance to put some of those unusual studies that Alex drill into her to work. -
Kestlona got the hint from Warren and put the notes away. "That's good to know," she said, both in thanks for the advice and also knowing that their wasn't going to be any kind of trouble. "Still, most of my learning is self taught or pounded into my head by my teacher." She snicker, thinking back to some of the off color choice of words and what she took to be Alex's home language. "Though I'm hoping to figure out what he been calling me when I messed up." She lean back, taking a slip of the beer, throwing her thoughts back. "What was it he use to say..." A grin pulling at her lips, she spoke in and older version of Ala Mhigan though she didn't understand what she might have been saying. "'A baby is faster then you' and 'I'm proud of you, my dutiful student.'" She sat the now empty mug back on the table. "Don't know why he refuse to tell me what he was saying..." She blink as a glowing carbuncle came up to their table. "Where did you come from?" she asked it, the magic familiar looking at her, and then cooning at greeting at Warren before wandering over to another table. **** John Waterstrike place a kiss on the side of his mom's cheek. "We'll be find, Mom," he said, the two of them waiting for the lift door to open. "I'm sure Momodi will be will to feed us." Margret shook her head. "Yes, let her fatten you both up. Honestly, both you and your father can cook. Why can't you just fix yourself something?" She than caught his ear, "And it's not Momodi. It's Madam Momodi or Lady Momodi. You are to be respectful as the head of clan." John flatten the barely pinch ear, rubbing his hand against it. "Sorry," he said before giving a small smile. "As for cooking it's because it's too much work pulling out and preparing the ingredients, then cooking said ingredients. It way easier just to get something from one of the food stalls or buy a meal from Madam Momodi." "You two are hopeless." She look down at the Carbuncle. "Please make sure he stays out of trouble, Kit." Then she gave John her mother Glare. "And you. When I'm back in a fortnight, you have better made proper apologizes to Lady Eoghan, do you understand." John's ears and tail drop. "I will do so once I see her, Mom." He was thankful that his mother didn't know that he had spoke out of line in front of her 'husband' or he would also be making apologizes to him as well. Once John was sure that his mother was on her way to the airship, he made a beeline for the Quicksand. "Lady Momodi," he said, "when you have the time, can you get me two containers of water?" While John waits for the water, Kit begins to wander over to the table where the "Warren" scent was. She only stop for a moment to watch Solis rubbing his head, before moving on to coon a greeting to "Warren". She then pick up "Cliodhna" scent, wandering over to and then under the table, her head pocking out the other side, 'sensing' for "John."

Celebration of The Scholar - Sunday March 22nd
Star Lin replied to Jancis's topic in Chronicled Events
Thanks for the offer, Jancis and Clio. If my two tries don't work out then I'll see if I can catch either of you. I'm almost tempted to take you up on the offer, Jancis for an in-character run to Toll, maybe needing someone to guide him so he could make an offering of remembrance as close to the site of his sister's death that was safe. I might also do something with him finally have the closer that he needs. As for if I'm going to be able to actually make it. I put in this afternoon for trying to be off by 7:30 pm EST and be home on on the computer before 8 pm EST. This still might not happen since it is kind of near the end of trying to get time off before the next week schedule comes in. -
The Second Annual Royal Ball of Ul'dah - Update (Time Set)
Star Lin replied to Erik Mynhier's topic in Chronicled Events
Soooo, Commander, does this mean that you might pull some of the Red Wings in to help with this event? I can probably get april 10th off (Friday is rare day off but it does happen but going to ask off to be on the safe side). I can already see Kestlona's reaction to having to dress up for it. *** A scream sounded all through Uld'ah. "COMMANDER, WHAT DO YA MEAN AH HAVE TA DOLL UP FOR THIS!" *** If not, then John will probably attend to represent his family. Now just have to get the gil up to buy nice outfits for both of them. -

Celebration of The Scholar - Sunday March 22nd

Hm, John would be attending this one. Yet, work will probably be in issue with me. I might try to make a 'run' to Toll before hand in case I can attend this one. -
The Battle of Carteneu & You(Non-Legacy Adventurers)?
Star Lin replied to Heart Quintessence's topic in RP Discussion
John's sister Tanya was one of the adventurers that didn't make it out of Carteneu. John himself was 15 and if not for Carteneu taking place, his parents would have let him start as an adventurer as well. I guess that the family would probably be one of the luck ones that actually got a body back to bury. For Kest, she was about 18 when the battle to place. She was on a boat with her teacher Alex, deep in her training. The boat was far enough from Limsa that the major damage but they both saw the attack on Limsa. The next two years were spent on readying her for path, until someone from Ala Mhigo show up in Limsa, and he took off before he was recognized as Ala Mhigan. I'm going to do most of Alex background when Kest get her monk gear. -
*laughs* The Kest is probably going to fit in quite well with the Red Wings. Her puglist teacher has pretty much groom her into a spy without her realizing it. As for who I would like to have more interaction time with Merri (though I can't think how John or Kest would end up running into him) Howl (mostly to see the deep conversation that he and John could get into about predestination and how John's postcognitive ability would play within the God of time's meaning) Erik (because Kest really needs to finally meet her commander) Dogberry (just because) The whole of Red Wings and Dauntless (just for the trouble that is probably going to find) and probably many others that I can't think of off the top of my head.

balmung The Grindstone - Saturdays at 10 PM EST (9 PM Central)
Star Lin replied to YesGood's topic in Roleplay Events
Yeah, there were some great matches last night. Might actually have gotten some character growth with John....or at least his head on straight about why these Matches were taking place. If Kyuu is there next week, John might be bringing some papers that his parents have been holding on too, perhaps holding infor on his 'birth' family. After the match, John hung around to give congrats to Sounsyy, and then follow the group back to the Quicksand where he then perform the trick 'Insert foot into mouth' with Cliodhna by being too familiar and shortening her name. Poor Kit (usually it loosely since he's 21) lit up like a red christmas tree light. If I hadn't realize that it was so late at night/early in the morning (3:30 am because of time change) I might have stay on long to get him really good and embarrassed. -
Another Grindstone come, gone, and coming again. Yet, as John walk out of Uld'ah Nala gate, he was unsure about attending this coming one. He may his way to the huge stone, not paying attention to the men practicing near the water's edge. His glove hand was laid on the stone, looking up to where Sir Warren had stood during the last meet. He had so many questions, why put themselves through the fight? Was it just for the gil...or something else. He step back, pulling the glove off his right hand, and reach out to touch the stone before him. John stop just an inch from the stone's surface, feeling the energy just dancing out of reach of his touch, and his ears laying flat against his head. He close his hand in a fist, pulling away from the stone before he could touch it, and shove the glove back onto his hand. Turning away from the stone, he rest his back against it, and slide down it's face to sit on the stand. "No," he whisper, "I won't get the answers that way." Yes, the waking dreams wouldn't answer the true question...why he had cheer himself at the fights? Needless bloodshed and he had gotten thrill at it. His tail lashed the sand in anger. He should have been sicken by the display but he wasn't. He came to his feet, rob swirling around him, and stop in the middle of the sands. An awkward punch was thrown, follow by another punch, and another. While that was going on, questions needle in his head. He hit the ground, panting, and stagger to his feet. The 'dagger' play was even worst then his punches, tripping up on the edge of the rob and his knees digging into the ground. His ears clamp down along the side of his head to try and keep out the laughter of the others training. 'Lance' in hand, no power behind the awkward jabs, and his mind burning with thoughts about how some of the moment had look like a deadly dance and that he should be comparing it to that. 'Axe' in hand, his movement look more like he was doing a horrible job and chopping firewood, he should have felt disdain for the lot that were fighting not thrill at the battles themselves. John's eyes froze on his arm movement, his batter brain realizing that he was moving as if he held a 'sword'. He stumble over his robs and found himself face first in the sand. Exhaust, he push himself enough to flip onto his back, and began to gulp air into his lungs. He wants to scream out, Why...but doesn't have to energy to do more then whisper, eyes close to the glare of the sun, "why did you....turn to the sword....Tanya....what's wrong....with me?"

*bookmarks thread* Going to keep an eye on this for when I finally hit 50 with Kest and John. I still need to clear content for my main Tanya on Masamune. *sigh* Going to be busy this weekend.

Characters' Aether Aspect to a Certain Element?
Star Lin replied to Knight Kat's topic in RP Discussion
Oh, this is an interesting idea. I could see how this could play more into Kestlona own journey along the 'Oschon's path'. Hm, Alex could probably explain it more to her but I'm not going to create Alex in game. I already got a storyline for Kest, involving him and her 'path' to becoming a Monk. Hm, wind to power her hits.... got to think on this one. John on the other hand might start working out some of the problems I'm having with him. He more in the blue/green of a healer but maybe also dipping his toes into actual weapon training...like his sister before him but different from the reason that she took to the sword and shield. I'm also playing him as a 'Postcognitive' (if anyone actually watch Tokyo Babylon 2nd OVA, then that should give you some idea on John ability). I was planning to have it be found out later when he finds out his birth name that it was the opposite of his mother's 'precognitive' ability. It didn't help after reading Ha'uruh Nunh's wiki that I'm now toying with the ability being tied to his father's blood. *make note to contact Howl and see if a Tia from the tribe could be used as a father* Anyway, I'm wondering if that ability would show up in John's aura. Also what color would that be if it did appear. Hm, so many question. -
An eyebrow quirk up at Warren's statement. "If ah didn't know better, ah'll almost say ya were my teacher, Alex." And being a Wander meant that she would not see him again unless their paths cross. She push the first mug away and start on the second. "He told me before he left that Oschon's path could be lonely at times...but only if I let it." Kestlona mental shook herself from her thoughts. "Ah, it's getting to deep for me." No worrying about Alex. He was a grown hyur and been on the path far long then she has. "Bloodsands?" she ask. "It was mention by a couple of the older members of the guild... and some not so glorious stories as well." It suited her fine that the guildmaster wasn't like the last one. "I'm on the path to help not to break bones to line someone's pockets." She grin, "The mining is two-fold." She pull out a small notepad, "A little gil to get me by and a chance to continue my own studies." The door slam open, causing her head to jerk in that direction, and causing her to drop the notepad on the table. Scribble on the pad was what look to be sound effect and also what might have been a rough translation of the sound. Kestlona's hand had move to her own puglist weapon. She realize a few seconds later that there wasn't going to be trouble at the moment. She turn her attention back to Warren and realize that the notepad was showing her latest attempt to try and translate the Amalj'aa language. She could only hope that the highlander wouldn't realize what it truely was. 'This is dangerous, Lass,' Alex words of warning came back to her, 'because they could say we're tainted and that will get us killed faster than a blade through the heart.' Taking her hands off the weapon, Kestlona began to reach for her notepad, "So," she say, "should I be ready for a fight?" Nodding her head to Berrod and Coatlegue, trailing them with her eyes toward the bar. "Or sit back and watch the show?" Maybe that would distract from any questions about the notepad.

The Bacchus Shots Competition is back! 1/22 @9pm
Star Lin replied to Cliodhna Eoghan's topic in Chronicled Events
*a string of curses can be hear all over the internet* No, no, no. I had it plan perfectly, thinking it would be the 8th and before a certain birthday. Now John is going to miss another one because I doubt I'll be able to get the evening off again. -
"Ah, she is a long walk," Kestlona said, giving the highlander a quick smile, "and almost as long by boat." She look thoughtful, how much to say without giving too much about the Wanders away. "My first teacher," she said, pulling out her puglist weapons and setting them on the table for Warren to see. The weapons were well care for, though they were still beginner weapons. "Before he went 'wandering' off," knowingly loading the word with more meaning then she probably meant too, "he said that I need to learn better control." Her eyes shifted over to the bar, sitting up just a little straighter, concern growing in her. Yet, relax when she realize that her table partner didn't seem that concern. Still she kept her ear open in that direction, just in case. "The guildmaster is great," she said, eyes lighting up as she remember the couple of times that she had stood at the railing and watch how he handle his students, "but with all of the students that he and the other master are working with..." She shrug her shoulders, knowing that she got lost in with the mix. "So, I've been plying at mining to bring in some extra gil." It also didn't hurt that the fading spell allow her to get close to a certain beast tribe camp, notebook in hand to start learning their language on her own.

Don't have time this morning to do it but I'll be pledging when I get in from work this evening. Please look forward to it. Hai. (Sorry couldn't help myself)
-
I cried so hard when my mom gave me the news. It was not only losing a piece of my childhood but I felt that I lost a piece of my father all over again. That show was when it was just us, thrilling to the next big adventure. And the talks that we had during commercial breaks about each episode. Dad wasn't a big scifi watcher but that was the one show that we found that we loved. Excuse me while I go and cry some more.
-
"Thank ya," Kest said, taking the chair across from him. Once she was seated, she took a long draw off the first mug of beer. "Ah, that help a right bit." She lean back in the chair, eyes closed as she let the last bit of the hot work she had done ease off in the coolness of the room. One eye fluttered at the sound of the Quicksand's door opening and conversation rolled over her ears, picking bits and pieces out of them, like Alex had taught her. Nothing of interest, moving on. She sat up a little straighter, "Nice ta meet ya, Warren." Kestlona gave a grin. "Me," she said, pointing at herself, "this seawolf be from Limsa." (ooc: sorry, it was short. Had a lot more to say but I'm suppose to leave for work in a few.)
-
Kestlona threw her head back, laughter pouring from her thoat at the Highlander's statement. "Pa be right about 'hat," she said, grinning at the guy. She was relieved to see that the mug was empty anyway. Her own eyes flicker to the ring as well. The grin became more warm at this turn of event. She turn her own head slightly, catching site of her pick. "Ah, it is." She turn back to him, shrugging her shoulders. "It bring in the gil...and the city doesn't have much use for a fisher." "KESTLONA," Momodi called out. Kest's attention snapped over to the female Lalafell. She gave a quick salute and made her way over to the counter. "Here ya go, Momodi," she said, placing the sack on the counter. "Cover for the rest off the week." "More then enough." "Need anything run today?" Kest asked, but the Lalafell shakes her head. "Then can I get two mugs of beer please?" With both mugs in hand, she made her way back to the highlander. She sat the beer down then motion to one of the others. "Might ah join ya?"

[OPEN] Kali Kalrath Lalafell on the Path LIVE AT GOLD SAUCER
Star Lin replied to Steel Wolf's topic in Town Square (IC)
John Waterstrike had manage to pull himself away from a group of overly dress people and to a somewhat quiet corner of the Gold Saucer. "Go, enjoy yourself, she said," he grumble under his breath. Being the heir to the Waterstrike name now instead of his sister, meant that he had to do these meet and mingle. For the poor miqo'te, it was too loud, too color, and too many smell for his liking. Debating on which way would be the easiest way to the airship dock, he found a stick...with a linkpearl on it, being shove into his face. "What...." he said, startle so much that he almost didn't catch the question from the Lalafell. "Oh, um, I'm not really sure..." he said, trying to calm down, though his ears still laid flat against his head. "It certainly..." he began 'too much for me' he almost added, "lively." He quickly began to move around the Lalafell, "I need to go...and meet someone, yes." Yes, he was going home and hiding in his parents apartment until it was time to go back to Limsa. At least he could deal with that crazy city better then this place. -
balmung The Grindstone - Saturdays at 10 PM EST (9 PM Central)
Star Lin replied to YesGood's topic in Roleplay Events
Well, I'm off again this Saturday so I'll try to attend. Don't know if I'll Kest in it this time or just have John heal again like last week. -
ooc: This take place several minutes after the latest Grindstone. Anyone that might have been there and just wants to check up on the young healer will be gladly welcome in. The purple hair Miqo'te lean heavily against the door of his family apartment, his ears tilting forward as he hears the sound of heavy footsteps. He push the door open, "Dad..." he said, feeling heavy in a not so good way. Thomas step out of the kitchen area, the highlander taking in the exhausted stance of his son and the familiar at his feet. "John, let Kit rest..." he said, moving forward and circling one arm around the Miqo'te's shoulder. A quiet 'oh' and Kit vanish, her energy returning to the book. Thomas tighten his arm around his son as the boy's knees gave out, scooping him up and moving over to the couch. "Be at peace, my son." He brush bits of hair away from the closed eyes. John looked so much younger then his 21 years. "Sleep and regain your strength." John distantly felt the gloves being pulled off his hands, dreams of an overturn cart, and a little red hair girl holding a baby miqo'te. Yet those even faded into deep sleep, the smell of candle smoke and bitter coffee the last to disappear. Thomas settle into his chair and contacted Momodi by linkpearl to let her know that John had made it back to the apartment and to pass word on to Margret when she stop by.
-
Kestlona rushed up to the landing dock as the airship was lock into place. Her grin grew in a large smile and began to wave her hands over her head as she saw the blond thatch of hair. "ALEX!!!" The older blond midlander looked up, a burn scar under the right eye, and a grin match Kestlona's own smile. "Lona, me lass," he called out, making his way off the ramp. He laugh as he was caught in the Seawolf's hug. "Down you she wolf. I not as young as ah use to be." He mock pouted as he realized that he couldn't ruffle the girl's hair anymore. "You went and grew too tall for me now." The smile only grew as she bent down enough for him to ruffle her hair. **** Alex took a sip of the beer, looking over his student in far more then just throwing punches. He watch her lean back in the chair, a relax manner, her 'attention' train on him, and only those that knew what to look for would realize that she was listening to several of the tables around them. "So, lass," he said drawing her focus on him, "I arrive back in Limsa, hoping to do some more training with my favorite student, and your old man tells me that you been gone form Limsa for 2 years." He tap the table, face serious. "So the Wander finally started you on your path?" Kestlona sigh before letting her chin rest on her hand. "I offer to help with anything, from the small folks on the street, to the Immortal Flames themselves and nothing has come of it." The finger of her other hand rub along the edge of the beer mug. "Alex," she whisper, "was it this hard to know what Oschon wanted of you?" "Ah," he said, "it can be lass. We that follow the Wander never have a clear view of where he's leading us." Alex look thoughtful. "It will become clear, as big as facing a primal or as small as an ear for someone to talk too." He grin, "And when you done what is needed the Wander will pull you along to help somewhere else." He tap the mark that was on her forehead. "Don't give up just yet or try to move on to soon. It will come..." his eyes slide over to the Soldier in Immortal Flame uniform, parchment in hand. "...sooner the you realize." "Kestlona Guhtgeiswyn?" the soldier asked, saluting the two. Kestlona stood up, "I was told deliver this too you." He saluted again after she took the parchment, waiting her answer. She quickly read over the parchment, eyes widening as it sat in what this was about. "Red Wings...rapid responds....military support..." Kestlona gave the soldier a fumble salute. "Yes... um please let the commander know that.... um, when he's free I'll be glad to do the interview with him..." She sat down hard turning to glare at her long time teacher. "You knew..." "About this," he said pointing to the parchment she still held, "no." He gave a sly smile, "Oschon wouldn't have you stay this long without having something plan...even if it's just taking rice to a flooded settlement."
-
Oh, would love to do this but RL work comes first in the morning. Kestlona is also waiting word on the interview she been told about with the Commander of Red Wings. John not much for gambling and he never drunk anything harder the cider. Him mom might make him go to represent their family at the opening before he heads back to Limsa for more Arcanist training.

Celebration of The Lover - Saturday February 21th at 5:00PM Eastern
Star Lin replied to Jancis's topic in Chronicled Events
It was a great event and Kest enjoy it. Kind of wish I had thought about taking screen shots of it though. Can't wait for the next one.
