  1. What if the vampire legends come from the bats and not actual vampires?
  2. The problem with this sort of argument is that it justifies everything in the setting by its very nature. I could roleplay as Superman or get a group of friends to run around as the X-Men, because the setting does not explicitly say that they exist. By that same token, the alternate of this argument is also true if you accept the reasoning of the first. There is nothing that explicitly says that they exist, therefore they do not.

    :o

You give me all your money.
  4. The basic explanation for why the Wailers are trying to stop poachers is because when you poach, kill animals disrespectfully, or excessively, the Elementals notice, and unleash the Greenwrath to indicate that they're sick of your shit. So to stop poachers from Ruining It for Everyone, the Wailers go after them before they can kill animals non-stop.

    Hi I am Hour

    A shame, I was hoping you'd be 5 PM.
  6. Oli!

    Hi I am Hour

    Which hour are you?
  7. When you're around on Balmung, post again so that we can come find you.
  8. Wildstar-level housing. That's INSTANCED. I N S T A N C E D. Bonus points if it's just an empty space I can do whatever I want with.
  9. TbsBEb1ZxWA DID YOU KNOW? Caravan Palace is the greatest band ever, and they put out a new release yesterday.
  10. vLkp_Dx6VdI I like to think this is what cleaning your house in Sharlayan is like.
  11. If you could clarify exactly what you mean by this (Feminism comes in a wide variety of different forms and outlooks), I could get an answer for you. The rest is best answered by someone else. By that I meant that if they strive to make sure everyone is deemed an equal, both males and females even though the tribes are led by women or do they view themselves as superior to the male miqo'tes. Going by this definition, no. The unequal roles in society (in both Keeper and Seeker tribes) are caused by the fact that Males have a very low birth rate; this leads to certain males being selected solely for breeding in both Seeker and Keeper populations, though Keepers seem to be much more protective of their men. Whereas the "unchosen" among the Seekers (Tia) are still permitted to do dangerous jobs such as hunting, this seems to be less common among Keepers. Although Keepers trade their males between tribes for the sake of keeping the population alive and preventing inbreeding, most hunting and leadership duties are still taken care of by females. One might posit that they are equal in terms of respect (which I am unsure of, but it wouldn't be much of a stretch), but as far as tribe duties, there is an inequality that everyone is okay with. It's worth noting that this isn't because of any particular hatred towards Men. It's just that it's bad business for the Tribe if you let your other, rarer biological half go out and get themselves killed, because then you can't continue your family.
  12. I'm not one for Keeper Lore, but real-life logic and systems are a thing I do. If you could clarify exactly what you mean by this (Feminism comes in a wide variety of different forms and outlooks), I could get an answer for you. The rest is best answered by someone else.
  13. Interesting thing about the Steam version is it lets you pay from your Steam wallet. If you're an avid trader, this basically means that you can pay for your sub by playing other Steam games. Something to think about if you have lots of time.
  14. Casting from HP is on the hotbar anyway, so I'm not entirely sure why we're going down that road.
  15. Just buy it for the PC. Chatting on a PS4 is supposed to be horrid anyway.
  16. Believability is a subjective concept. On another note, subjectivity is apparently my favorite thing now. The only way to discuss such things is in terms of actual, present "Yes" and "No" gates in the setting that relate to the concept.
  17. It's important to note that the separation between mechanics and lore occurs when those that are modeling the assets and coding the functions aren't given the ten years and several terabytes of data-space they would need in order to program-out every single possible application of what the lore says, while simultaneously maintaining some semblance of balance to give players equal footing. You could probably give a THM a sword and have them swing it around like Gandalf while simultaneously shooting fire and magical lasers from it. You could also make a staff-fighting Monk that heals their buddies with Conjury. They're not impossible, we just don't have those things because programming them in wouldn't necessarily make for a balanced / good / timely-released game.
  18. I never said that it wasn't. I was very, very, very specific that I was referring only to Classes, and not to Jobs. Oh, cool. Yeah, I think there was some confusion there then.
  19. I'm sure Classes are fine, but there was still some retconning done to Jobs (WHMs originally controlled all elements, including those now belonging to THMs / BLMs, time was turned back on the progression of Erik and Widargelt, etc.). The confusion seems to be stemming from the use of the word "classes" to refer to what we would have called Jobs, most likely because using Classes to refer to everything is common in other games.
  20. He was talking about Thaumaturges in his post. It was mentioned, but their main point about the retconning of 1.0 Jobs is still widely correct.
  21. They mean the Job lore.
  22. Ada's 18. Oli's in the comparatively Old-Man category of 42.
  23. Oliwat is the tiny pudgy alien leading-man of a galaxy-romping animated buddy-comedy, alongside his personal very-outdated service droid, Clatterclank. It's a universe full of weird-looking aliens, retro science-fiction, rayguns, flying saucers, and Friendship. Adalhaid is a tribesperson in one of those really primitive alien societies that still worship zen or the forest or whatever, and manage to repel the Evil People with stones, spears, and their fists.
  24. Even if the asset is recycled, lore-wise the object is not the same. The Third Eye is a biological aspect; although whether or not it is an actual eye is unclear (though implied; helmets and goggles such as Cid's have little viewports for it), it is only present on Native Garleans, and no one else. The forehead-gem is a removable piece of decoration placed as a zodiac sign.
