balmung Looking for a "specific body" for short RP.
Aya replied to YumeriaHime's topic in Chronicled Connections
Terrific! Good luck There's also a group out there, I think they're still out there!, that specializes in playing NPCs for other people's events/plots/storylines ! -
I'm always willing to volunteer Aya, if you'd like! You're looking for screen shots?

Aya replied to YumeriaHime's topic in Chronicled Connections
The character isn't playing as the character anyway - since instead he would be playing as your NPC. That's why I was asking if it really mattered if it were a Raen, since they're playing something entirely different than what the model represents anyway no matter what you do (Say, a Hyur character RPing the Raen in question). That's all, might open you to more possible people! -

Is there any particular reason the character has to match the description of the NPC they're portraying? Aren't you really just asking for someone to portray an NPC? (You could also portray it yourself, though I understand it being more interesting if the character is unpredictable! Though that's a double-sided thing, since you can't expect them to necessarily respond to the situation in the manner you've imagined ) -

Ishgard, post 3.3 (OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS FOR MSQ)
Aya replied to Warren Castille's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I I wish you had written it Verad Flattering, but I think you'd still be disappointed by the product. Whatever changes I made to the narrative and to the pacing of the story, I still would have arrived at the same conclusion, resolving the conflict by dismantling the authority of the church and reaching a tentative but genuine peace between Ishgard and the Dravanians. It's a good optimistic ending for the story, but it's a bit of a buzzkill for I suspect you'd have still done so with more edifying pacing and story telling! As I mentioned in my first post in the thread, a video game story and an RP setting have very different criteria, so it's not surprising that the one doesn't satisfy the other. That doesn't change that I wish they'd let Ishgard well enough alone, but, as you say, it's not exactly a shocking resolution of the conflict they had set up. Of course this goes back to why I think a single player storyline in an MMO is a bad idea, but that's just tilting at windmills in the FF world. And let's not forget that the subject of this thread is personal: regardless of judgement upon the quality of the story, it has left anyone whose character was heavily invested in the Ishgardian conflicts suddenly clutching with empty hands. -

Ishgard, post 3.3 (OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS FOR MSQ)
Aya replied to Warren Castille's topic in FFXIV Discussion
For me, it's not strictly that it's uninteresting, but that it's simply no longer interesting in the way that Ishgard is. I think comparisons to Uldah, with a snowy, early steam sort of vibe is not far off the mark. It's almost like they decided they wanted something like that in the game and then decided to turn Ishgard into that, rather than actually working from the setting and story they had crafted originally. -
Ishgard, post 3.3 (OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS FOR MSQ)
Aya replied to Warren Castille's topic in FFXIV Discussion
It's not SE's fault, though I really do not care for what they have done to Ishgard in HW. It's not impossible to still pursue a story similar to the one I have mapped out, but all of my ideas for it are presently spoiled and that has me bummed. It also seemed apropos to the question posed by the OP, so I posted about it. I can rewrite my proposed storyline entirely within the lower secular class, but there goes the impact of setting, class, and faith in the story. Hooray? Just 'bleh'. All of the punch and substance of the Ishgardian setting has been sucked out of it and replaced with Star Trek-esque bubblegum (thanks for the inspiration of how to put it Flynn!). What had been my favorite and, I thought, most interesting of the city states is now the least. -
Ishgard, post 3.3 (OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS FOR MSQ)
Aya replied to Warren Castille's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I actually had just mapped out a major many part story that was going to tie into Aya's history in the city, and bring her back to it. And well.. never mind. There's just no tension left into it. I may still use it as the foundation for something, but the underlying characters and plot are just pointless now since the conflict is entirely resolved by the collapse of church authority. I've never liked the trajectory of Ishgard in HW, especially the casting of the Ishgardian Church as cardbord cut-out comic book villains. I feel like its just a loss of terrific potential - and a disappointing way of resolving tension for characters from the city. They write their story, obviously, to be a video game story rather than to provide a setting for original stories, and if I really want to I should be able to write something similar to what I was planning on. But given that I was looking to make a major summer writing project of it I'm really rather disappointed at the moment. I should probably be happy there being absolutely nothing at all keeping Aya from returning to the city, but its about as anti-climactic as it comes. That isn't the way I'd wanted to go about it. -
[Heirloom - Part One] "You honestly expect me to remember somethin' from that long ago?" The words were those of a deep, gravely voice. The owner a scarred Seawolf whose best days were decades passed. The voice that whispered back, carried hints of lipstick and the exotic tones of the north. "I do." He didn't so much see her, as feel her as she pressed against his side. Soft, rather than threatening - but with a menace about her that lead to hesitation. In his youth things would have been different. He would have mastered her; age had left him more careful. "You can't be for real. Comin' out here askin', hells, demandin', to know who I sold a ruttin' blade ta over a decade ago? I've no way. I couldn't tell ya if I wanted ta!" "And you don't want to, do you?" The red of her lips was caught momentarily in the ray of a street lamp. Its shadowy illumination filtered into the thick air of the alley, catching the way she grinned behind his forearm. "I don't know..." said the Roegadyn, his demeanor suddenly shifting with a playful smile tugging at his expression. "You seem right delectable enough. Maybe we could make some sort of..." The steel point suddenly digging into the rugged flesh behind his kidney changed it right back. "Hey!" he cried in protest, "What's your trouble, lady, I ain't done nothin' wrong!" "No... but I just might." Came the whispered reply from those feminine lips. The press of blade point emphasizing her threat. "You must have records. Receipts. I know your sort. Nothing really escapes your notice when merchandise is concerned." "Thall's balls..." He muttered under his breath - a voice of defeat. "That's what this is about? You wanna see my bleedin' receipts?" He swung his head her way. "Fine lady. Have it your way." While one slender hand slipped the stiletto away, the other proffered a small purse of gil. "You know this'd have done for starts?" He stated plainly as the welcome coin fell into his massive palm. "You, old man, own quite the reputation for wandering hands. Now you know just how close to keep them." He let out a low groan. In the dim of the lamp light, she smirked.

A Returning Ishgardian (Looking for all connections)
Aya replied to SharlayanBlues's topic in Chronicled Connections
It would be nice to know more about his background: i.e. where he came from and whatnot. Aya was a performer in the lower levels of Ishgard until a few years ago, though she's not returned to Ishgard since escaping from it just before ARR -
