The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Melkire replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Speaking of tank e-peen, had my first LotA/CT run since patch this past Saturday. Got to Bone Dragon. i130 tank pulls Bone Dragon to the very back of the room. Wut. Remaining tanks decided to fight over the skeletons as per usual, except very, very few of those skellies ended up where they were supposed to. In fact, many weren't even killed on a platform. I decided to quit trying to salvage the situation (read: endless AoE because pulling Bone Dragon to the back is a STUPIDLY INEFFICIENT WAY TO DO THIS FIGHT, YOU OVERGEARED MORONS) and sat on the middle platform in time to pick up and tank three of the ahriman adds. Seriously. I don't give a shit that i130 is item level cap now. The most efficient way to do this fight is STILL to tank the Bone Dragon on the middle platform. Idiots. I swear. -
I am staring into the post-50 void and it is staring back.

For fresh 50s: Complete your level 45 and level 50 Job Quests to acquire AF (Artifact) armor. This is i55 for your chestpiece and i50 for the other armor pieces. Run Wanderer's Palace (Normal) and Amdapor Keep (Normal) to acquire i55 armor and weapons. Run Pharos Sirius, Copperbell Mines (Hard), and Haukke Manor (Hard) to acquire i60 armor and accessories. Complete your Relic Quest to acquire your i80 relic weapon. Run Labyrinth of the Ancients (commonly referred to as "CT") to acquire i80 armor. Unlock and run all dungeons under Hard Roulette to start earning soldiery and poetics tomestones, while acquiring higher and higher Average Item Level through new gear. Easy upgrade using soldiery tomestones to take your Relic Weapon from i80 to i90. Begin purchasing Soldiery and Poetics gear from the appropriate vendor in Mor Dhona. That should be enough to get anyone started. From there, you can bootstrap yourself into higher level content (Expert Roulette, ST, WoD). You should be ready to jump into Binding Coil of Bahamut at around i80. -
This is how I've always seen it. Without developer commentary to the contrary, "Man" seems to be a stand-in for "sapient" and less a reference to a common ancestry. The only support for the latter is the distinction between playable races and beastmen, but then you get into a sticky situation where lore says that they're only called "beastmen" due to Garlean propaganda.... idk. I'm rambling.

...not sure why anyone would want all the DPS in the belly anyway*, it only takes four or five to dish out the damage quickly enough to transition into chains. * it's probably because wailing on something's innards is fun in concept and execution** ** also because some folks are macrophiliacs*** *** I'm not one but I'm aware they exist -

It becomes an issue when Square goes to the lengths they do to prevent certain cutscenes from being hosted on YouTube or the like (end of T12 comes to mind). -
I want to. So. Bad. ...I even found the fans online. I'll be on Skype today. Gimme links. -grabby hands-

Cross-clan has been confirmed canonically by Square through certain characters whose names I shall leave unspoiled. Cross-race is a different matter entirely. Neither confirmed nor denied, implicitly or explicitly, as far as I'm aware (I don't recall Fernehawles giving a serious answer to this, just him handwaving the Roegadyn-Lalafell example). Personally leaning towards, "no, they'd have to adopt." -

If you're going for overkill, throw Infuriate->Unchained into the mix. :\ -

Damage buff from Greased Lightning is underrated. Likely because it's not as noticeable or perceptible as, say, consistently large criticals from DRGs popping all their CDs together. Wait 'til you hit 40 and gain access to GLIII. But yeah, that sounds like a tank problem, not a level-sync issue, especially seeing as how the person in question was playing WAR. When new and in doubt, spam Overpower 'til you run out of TP and either cry to the BRD/NIN for more or else cry because you realized too late that you have no BRD/NIN in the party. Minor rant: Been playing Destiny since my computer gave out on me. The game amounts to little more than "shoot aliens 'til they die". F***ing boring. Missing XIV's PvE so much right now. RP even more so. -
As often as you want the barmaid to come over and talk to you, in my experience! AYA, WHY IS THERE A PARASOL IN MY GLASS?

WHOA WHOA WHOA TIME OUT. 1. Only tribal Seeker of the Sun societies have the tia/nunh roles. 2. "Nunh" is nothing more than a distinction bestowed upon certain Seeker males by Seeker females that they are fit for breeding. There is no leadership, tribal dominance, or anything of the sort inherent in the "nunh" role; it just so happens that the nunh of the U tribe in the Main Story Quest happens to find himself in both the nunh and the leadership role. 3. "Tia" is basically the default role/title/name for Seeker males who are not yet acknowledged as Nunh, i.e. not fit to breed. The whole concept has some symmetry with African lions - again, minus the leadership and tribal dominance aspects. 4. If a Miqo'te character is not of a tribal culture, doesn't adhere to a tribal culture, or doesn't acknowledge their heritage in any way, then they most likely wouldn't use either "nunh" or "tia". You'll see plenty of "urbanized" Seekers without these. 5. That said, there's nothing stopping an urban Seeker from becoming infatuated with tribal culture and taking it upon themselves to adopt either "Tia" or "Nunh" as their name. I've met quite a few roleplayers who've done just that. EDIT: I got ninja'd within a mere minute. That was fast. I'm too slow #sonic -

Now I'm confused, were you the monk or the tank? :dazed: No fresh tank is going to be able to hold aggro versus a level-synced 50 who really, really wants to peel the mobs off the tank. Putting aside the fact that cross-class skills allow you to take offensive CDs at earlier levels than you should have them at, level-syncing doesn't quite address the issue of i50+ DPS having 2 to 3 more secondary stats on their gear than the new tank does. If a level-synced DPS or a healer wants aggro, the only real recourse for the tank, sadly, is to let them have it. P.S. Because I love tormenting my FC mates. -

Seconding this. A short-term goal is the difference between a character becoming a dynamic, evolving entity in its own right and said character lounging about hotspots all day waiting for something good to happen to them, a.k.a.: -

There is nothing quite like taking a level-synced i115 monk into Sastasha Normal, Copperbell Normal, or Tam-Tara Normal and proceeding to ruin the tank's day. Tip for new tanks: if you're leveling and you get synced with a stupidly over-geared monk, start playing spin-the-dragon with everything so that we're not guaranteed our from-behind crit on Bootshine. Granted, a good monk will still be able to get the positioning and timing down, but it'll improve your odds of holding onto the mobs longer. -
Apologies in advance to everyone who roleplays with me, who has me involved in their plots, is involved in my plots, and so on and so forth. I own a single computer. An ASUS G73JW laptop. The first fan died a while back. The second one died on Sunday, and thermal paste or no thermal paste, the computer can't run FFXIV now without overheating and shutting off within a few mere minutes. Hell, it can't even last ten minutes while idling. tl;dr: I'll be away from XIV on an unwilling hiatus until such time as I can either affect repairs or else get around to building the tower I've wanted for a while now. <3 you all, hope to be back in-game soon. 'til then, I'm still around on the forums here.

New people! Huzzah! Signed you up, Inessa. As soon as you promise to not assault me with glitter. Also I need to know which character you're rolling with for this. -
Their statement flies in the face of the SMN I saw the other night wearing Dated Horn Scale Mail. Likewise for Dated Gauntlets/Sabatons on DoW. Especially true for everyone tanking in swimwear glamours. Glamours I Want: Fuma Hakama -> GLA/PLD, MRD/WAR Warrior's Cuirass -> GLA/PLD Blacksmith's Goggles -> DoW EDIT: Removed the rant b/c I didn't see Ilwe's disclaimer. Oops.

Also please note that emergency maintenance usually follows within a 24- to 48-hour span of any major patch. The more content they add and the more changes they make, the more likely they'll discover and hotfix an issue.

Differences between the Echo and Hydaelyn's Blessing?
Melkire replied to Kage's topic in RP Discussion
Well, 1) I would say Midgardsormr has no interest in protecting us. Remember how he tells us he swears he will do no harm to us, but that does not mean others won't. 2) In regards to Odin, yes, kind of: -
