  1. The biggest rule of thumb I think is of you're uncomfortable as a person or if you're not having fun then it's time to stop. I'm a lot more passive about OOC communication than I used to be. There are some folk I RP with that we just can't make things work without it. That and it can also be fun to discuss your characters and see what could happen. I think there are ways to handle just about every situation without giving too much away as spoilers or being too heavy handed. You just have to be clever and find them. Other times you just may come across someone that you have more fun playing with when you discuss all the possibilities OOCly. It can also be difficult to pull off complex plot lines without a certain degree of it.
  2. Ros didn't get to meet Kage long enough that one.. time... >.> *whistles* Crai. She thought he was adorable too. :lol: Pls Nat no.
  3. Unfortunate experience has taught Ros that the blood in Seeker males usually tends to only flow in one direction.
  4. Np :thumbsup: I also farmed MogEX a lot and could probably heal the fight in reverse while blindfolded at this point if ya wanna make groups for that at some point.
  5. I'd still be a pleb console gamer. :cactuar: I'd be reading a lot too. I used to devour books by the shelf before I discovered the wonders of the interwebs. I usually always have a random tab in my browser containing something like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleistocene I'd probably be more outdoorsy too. I used to run around in the woods and go tubing and camping and stuff when I was younger and now I'm like "Ew, a stick. Get it away."
  6. I'm in one Kage. Let me talk to the guy that owns it and I can send you a message about it in game.
  7. The least upheld rule in the game. And by 'least' I really mean 'not upheld at all'. GM's won't proactively change names it typically has to be reported first.
  8. sounds like you played too much SO3 and you're trying too hard. Honestly, I'd advise against making an obvious reference. Just keep the FT initials and make a name based off of that would be my advice. I don't even know what SO3 is and this is less about obvious reference but more about the fact that I personally just really love that name, that's why I at least want to keep the ring it has right now. If you choose to keep it then you are acknowledging that there are a number of folk that will just not rp with the character. If that is understood then yeah go for it.
  9. I think there are ways to take influences from anime and incorporate them into characters I.E. life experiences, weapons, reactions to stimuli etc. As far as just straight taking the name and personality and that is the character..? Naming conventions aside, it seems a little...heavy handed? Before you transfer her I would consider a character name change and perhaps working in elements of the character's personality under a more appropriate name. It's the name reaction I give when I see people running around named "Naruto Uzumaki" or "Kenshin Battosai" If these people walked up and tried to rp I would probably...get a linkpearl call and leave. :thumbsup: Granted, Fate is probably a little more obscure but it's the same concept.
  10. I'd like more details on aether personally. How it functions in combination with living organisms and how much of a "life energy" it truly is. (Makolol) There seems to be some disagreement and disconnect over how much it powers life itself considering the Garleans continue to prosper with a distinct lack of it. Logic would follow that Eorzean organisms are more naturally rich in it due to environment but there really isn't any solid legs for the conjecture to stand on. Some more details on aether poisoning/sickness would be cool too.
  11. I can echo this wholeheartedly. For example, Roswyn is pretty icy to most right off the bat and people automatically assume that extends to me when it really doesn't. If you've ever had me in a linkshell, gotten a message or rep from me you know I'm plenty nice. Yet, when Roswyn says things or takes actions in game I've seen people get very upset about it. I've even had people comment that I should disclaimer myself as "Mean Char - Nice OOC!" And I just...I facepalm a little and I ask "Are we roleplaying here or not?" I could be the Abominable Snowman OOCly and if you're letting it affect your desires to roleplay with people and shunning them out of things that's a little...unprofessional in my humble opinion. I've seen this on the other end too. People have told me "Oh, don't RP with "xxx" because his character is a "xxxx"." My reaction to this is the following: "Well, Roswyn doesn't know this guy at all and has zero reasons to shun someone that harshly right off the bat. If there are IC consequences then I'll play those out." It could be possible that your character might leave if mine came in because of a comment she made. But if you're actively thinking or saying that someone is a bad person or player OOCly for actions that took place ICly you're doing it wrong. This mindset basically shoehorns and ensures that everyone will play very politically correct and non boat-rocking characters because of fear of being excluded. ...And that would be lame and boring as hell. :cactuar: Edit: Ty for the rep guys. :lol:
  12. *waves to Sounsyy* SENNNNPAAIIIII In regards to scholars, my understanding is you can't really qualify as one without the fairy. You can't have the fairy without the stone. As it stands, about the only way I can think of to acquire one is to have a character trek into Wanderer's Palace and somehow come out alive and having found one. Then you'd have to be of extreme intelligence to process the geometric equations and Arcanima. Can a typical meatshield axe-wielding character equip a scholar stone and somehow process the mental capacity to use the art? o_o (Flowers for Algernon style) The lore on that is really sketch, hence my current interpretation.
  13. If I have my lore right, her memories really wouldn't matter. The moment she started practicing succor she'd anger the elementals and Kan-e-Senna and the padjals would notice. It's difficult to create a white mage character in the sense that....it's almost impossible to do so without involving NPC's that are on the same level of the Sultana then you have to create a reason for them to allow your character to use this and no one else's and that would be the origin and catalyst of a lot of butthurt.
  14. This really isn't the answer though what they have done is unsustainable and cheats FC's out of housing. Player housing and FC housing should have remained separate. Granted, they would have had to get the art staff back in there and draw up new ward designs and housing designs then find a way to implement it all. Probably a new quest line introducing the area etc. With the current route, I really feel they are going to spend a tragic amount on hardware to host the player demand for housing when they could have just gotten some designers back in there to find an easier, more ingenious route. Entire wards are occupied by solo players while FC's are still looking for it. Something just feels off there.
  15. Ehh...they tried to cut a corner and I'm thinking it blew up in their face.
  16. I might suggest putting up a sticky thread for commentary regarding the patch. There is obviously plenty to be had and we can relegate it there. If folk don't want to see it they don't have to etc. Apologies if something like this already exists. o_o;;
  17. Nat fed you! Stop whining you freeloader!!! Glass of water. Crust of bread... :3
  18. I'm not particularly surprised nor disappointed. The 800k carrot on a stick was a dick move but eh. I find a lot of folk open up their company houses for rp to begin with. A lot if them will have an open bar, serve as in inn, entertainment hall etc. Utilizing what is already there isn't a bad way to go and the people who put the money up to build it would likely be grateful.
