1. Who we are: Eclipsis is a Medium-RP/Medium-PVE Free Company on the Balmung server in Final Fantasy XIV. We try and hold company roleplaying events at least once a week as well as promote a setting in which individual and group RP can flourish. For PVE content we have multiple people at max level/endgame as well as those still climbing through the ranks, and we're more often than not willing to help with anything and everything. Company Structure and Lore: Eclipsis as a company works in a similar manner to a contracting company which employs adventurers of just about any and all skillsets. The company itself is divided into different branches, each with it's own manager, that specializes in different types of work and research. Whatever your character's skillset, be it goods manufacturing, combat, defense, entertainment, medicine, aether research or even business of a shadier sort you'll find a place for it in Eclipsis. The company tends more towards the lawful side of things, but is not entirely innocent. Once previously based out of the Golden Bazaar, Eclipsis now makes it's headquarters in Ward 3 Plot 8 of the Goblet in Thanalan. A Medium residence, the Eclipsis house, known as Villa Lunaris, serves as a place of business during the day and a quiet yet entertaining spot for members to reside at night. The company retained it's holdings out at the Golden Bazaar and uses these for shipping and selling goods that are manufactured within the company. More Perks: * Rank 8 FC * Double FC actions * IC Free Company chat * Extremely active and fun OOC linkshell. Make some friends! * Lore friendly RP * Groups for PvE content * PvP groups * Company chest with items available for member use * Medium sized company housing * Mumble server provided for the company * Spontaneous RP between company members * Planned RP events and meetings * Friendly and open minded environment. LGBT friendly! * Stability and longevity. Our company recently celebrated it's 1-year anniversary in game and we plan on many more! Please contact Lyuri Felnica, Nesi Greene, or Roswyn Valhuri in game for more information. Feel free to check us out via the link below or submit an application! Eclipsis Website
2. I have to say I disagree with this to a point. I'm not sure why I would need approval if I wanted my character to die permanently. Is it not my character, and not the community character? I am not trying to be rude or flippant....I am simply asking for clarity sake. For example, Ruru is close friends with Zhavi in game but I certainly wouldn't need her permission to have Ruru die. She would be sad, yes, and rp would be altered to adjust, but again, just as irl, characters cope and adjust. I think asking for permission....it just doesn't sit right with me. I know others will disagree with me, but if at some point I were planning for Ruru to pass on, I wouldn't ask for permission. I wouldn't get an okay from the outside. I would certainly communicate my intentions, but would not alter them just because others maybe feel sad. I get that....but it's the natural reaction just as any death of a friend or loved one would be. In what I described above I'm referring to actually acting out the death in RP with other character's present. From my experience, there is a much more realistic sense to having the character die with their friends and loved ones actively watching/being unable to help vs. a narrative or forum post. Ros had to watch someone she loves dearly (but will never admit to that) almost die pretty gruesomely in front of her while she was nigh powerless to help and she can't even hear about the method of how he did it without flying into an emotional fit. I've only had a couple RP's ever bring me to tears IRL and that was one of them. Hence why I tend to think discussion beforehand is pretty important. Depending on how seriously the people you are playing with take their RP you could be asking a lot.
3. D'awww thank ya. In my experience, I've only permanently killed off one character during my time roleplaying and when it happened there wasn't much indecision. I'd played her for about 2 years and I honestly felt that it was just time for her to go. As callous as that sounds. It's the kind of thing that I think you "know" it's time for. Also, I don't think there is any shame is putting a character down for a few months, doing something else, then coming back to the game and saying they've been away doing something involving their plot. Death isn't always the answer.
4. Character death is one of those things that I think requires a lot of OOC communication to prevent any kind of mixed feelings. Not just on the part of the person who's character is passing away but the people who may have been involved because they could feel guilty, like their character didn't do enough, like they are being shoehorned into mourning, etc. In my mind, there is a list of things that you should get approval for before trying to lock someone's character in a situation and that includes rape, torture, death, and other various nasties. I'll be honest and say I've never seen an impromptu character death that went over well. There is always a lot of confused, mixed feelings and inevitable retconning. However, with proper communication, a valiant character death can be pulled off. It's the natural instinct of your character's comrades and loved ones to -save- them and they may bend the world over backwards to do so if allowed and it needs to be understood from the get-go that this is InsertNameHere's final hurrah. Something that needs to be kept in mind as well is you are essentially asking the other players around you to let their character's friend or lover die. It's an outgoing ripple effect of RP that certain folk may decide they don't want to be a part of due to whatever circumstances. The player who's character was your character's lover now has to RP them in mourning which may sound very miserable to them and they might not be up to the challenge or might be going through something IRL that makes it in poor taste etc. There is a lot of plates spinning in the air with character death. I can't stress communication enough with that one and is one of the things that I do feel is often best in a plot/planned scenario with unplanned variables here and there.

8. Ros came to terms with the fact that her life is likely going to be short a while ago. She claims she'd rather live an exciting short life than a long boring one though it's debatable whether or not she fully understands her own grand words. Her father's enemies. They killed his wife they could kill her. The Garleans she insists on continuing to consort with. Any random deal gone sour could end in death. Anyone who manages to get in under her guard could kill her. Her own damn stubbornness might get her killed.
9. She never uses her last name in public. Despite her leadership roles, in a lot of ways she is very socially inept. She will rebuke most, if all not all, efforts to initiate romance but will go after a romantic interest she has in another with sometimes embarrassingly misplaced vigor. She is largely unaware of the Miqo body language she telegraphs as she was raised with Hyurs. She can be terrible at explaining herself and admitting things, often leading to misunderstandings with those close to her. She's more at comfortable in tense negotiations with hands on weapons than she is at a social gathering. Her stubbornness knows no bounds. She IS right. She's scared of Yarzons She has an active mental disorder.

18. <3 Kage From what I understand Nat knows a great deal. In fact, I was wondering if she would maybe consider GMing play with us too.
19. I keep seeing this being tossed around in the FoM linkshell so here is the thread! I know some folk out there like Shadowrun as much as I do and we were talking about getting a group together to play over Skype. I'm assuming this would be 4th edition as no one has really brought up 5th. All the details can be hashed out though once we have folk. (Edition, GM, roles, etc) Any interest out there? Also for those who are like "You nerd, wtf is Shadowrun?" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadowrun *rolls D6* ``````````````````````````` Shadowrun groups get a little unwieldly when you get above 5-6 people (Not including GM) and roles start overlapping. ((Why did EVERYONE take infiltration?? )) But this is what I'm looking at so far. Correct me if wrong anywhere! Sometimes I can't tell what is a comment and what is an interest. o_o; Also if we have a hard time locating a GM I can hit up the Shadowgrid forums and try to find someone. Current Interested Players: Roswyn Kage Nat Hornet Nero Possible players: Aoife Cree Mahvashi / C'rhisi
20. Bit of an odd sidenote, but I'm hoping Ninja is a pretty hands-off job when it comes out ICly. Ninjas are supposted to be masters of not being seen, subterfuge, very secretive. I might punch something if I see everyone and their cheese rping a Ninja like this guy:
