  1. Ideally I'd straight up say for DRK level PLD - you NEED Provoke. This is not an option
  2. Used to be the actual text mentioned it was an excessively rare item likely to justify how you can only get it with RL money or after spending a month of cash on the game first time around. Not saying the Syndicate/Monetarists couldn't get their hands on it, but just saying it would be impractical rather than impossible.
  3. I've done pettier than that. I refuse to play Skullgirls 'cause I hate Alex Ahab's character designs.
  4. Uh, Chris. That's not a threat. Listen to this PSA by esteemed wordsmith Trick Daddy. eZxQ9ihUDi8
  5. ...can i vent that you ignored the other vent thread?
  6. Localization actually doesn't just translate, if they translate at all. Localization fixes the mistakes a non-native speaker would commonly make or retreads the entire text for graphical implementations from different characters, etc. E.G. : A textbox that fits the English phrase gets wrecked in the German translation because there's not supposed to be a line break and the German version requires one. I've worked on ONE project where we technically had input over the game's lore because they asked us to fix the immensely broken English. Sadly, we were told to remove all of the original flavor from the game (to the point where I doubt all but one of my edits actually made it into the game proper) late in the project's cycle. It's funny how our localization team wanted the game to keep its flavor and kept rewriting stuff so that it remained with less text until they told us otherwise. So yeah, respect your localization team. Most times, they care just as much as you do. Especially in this one since they're rolled into one office apparently.
  7. With what I know of RPers, all of this is very plausible enough that I'm surprised you haven't encountered it.
  8. Dunno if you're on PS3, but I hear a lot of complaints on mechanics coming from PS3 folks. It's one of the few things this game has in common with DCUO.
  9. Steppin' down ain't leaving, still good job on the admin side. Keep at it on the tech side. But yeah, good luck to Melkire.
  10. Oh yeah - as you learn more of the lore you'll probably find ways to bend it to your whims for what you want to do. You might have to compromise a bit but I can't think of anything I may have wanted to do that I could not do.
  11. It's already stretching the imagination that they're only summoning them three times (and even then one of them is so non-important it's not necessary for the MSQ - they are technically only summoned twice and once for Levi/Ramuh/Shiva) Eh, I'm honestly using it as a canonical weapon that looks like talons for a specific monk set. I still need to make it, mind, but that's not a problem.
  12. how is that "no i will not be answering that" or a proper reaction to "no i will not be answering that". hey i know this guy wants me to stop talking about this, LET'S TALK EVEN MORE ABOUT THIS IN A PUBLIC CONTEXT! but w/e you do you i suppose.
  13. On that last one if you really want to be technical, they're all 3-star crafts. The demimateria/EX Primal item would be a pain to get but yes. (which reminds me I kinda need to get the Talons of the Vortex for a glamour piece)
  14. We have sprites, animals and voidsent that can literally glamour themselves into beings of an entirely different shape. I can understand not wanting to accept fantasia at face value but come the fuck on. I'm not a fan of devs introducing in-game items, with flavor descriptions, and then going out of their way to say "this item isn't real". Would have preferred that they used the Mog Station entirely to switch that but I suspect they never thought of that. * * * White/Black magic refers to a very specific subset of magic that draws its power (aether) from the land itself rather than with Nature's consent/their own power. Briefly, black magic started killing the planet because black mages used it indiscriminately, white magic was thus gifted to certain individuals to counteract them, and the resulting conflict was the equivalent to an apocalypse-level event. Both eventually returned under severely restricted format (Granted to a specific caste of Gridanians for White magic, studied in dark shadows and beastmen for Black magic). So, while you could technically refer to CNJ/THM spells as white/black magic respectively, they are not White/Black magic in the lore sense.
  15. It doesn't help that abilities that should be baseline for a class (E.G. A single target taunt for tanks) are locked behind a specific class and fuck you if you never wanted to play that class in the first place. In terms of classes I'd say that's where the game does zero handholding. Too many skills are considered baseline and yet require you to play something you may not have wanted to play in the first place. It's such a problem that they changed how crafting'd be handled in HW because of the fact that you needed 50 on every crafting class to even be decent at crafting. In so far as the MSQ is concerned, they're trying to fast track new players because in their own words, Heavensward is just as long as the base game, except stretched over only 10 levels. Makes sense that if this is gonna be the relevant content you don't want the new dudes lingering behind for too long. They seem to be fixing a lot of the stuff y'all take for granted. It'll be more difficult (from interviews they're saying 1v1 of equal level should be what you seek out, two is manageable with good play, but more than that and you should expect to get wrecked), but I expect far less bullshit (a new mechanic blindsiding you, DRGs/Limit Breaks getting fucked from animation lock, etc.)
  16. I'm just waiting for what else they're gonna declare uncanon.
  17. Because Garlemald itself is using a bunch of swordsmen/pikemen/whatever. The rank and file don't have firearms, this is backed by both cutscenes and in-game. Surely there's something to their tech that makes it so its exclusive only to the top brass.
  18. so, uh, the duskwights live in areas that don't want them around. good to know.
  19. Also, notice how the rank and file do not have firearms in game, even in Garlean troops.
  20. I just wonder how much less people you will need to run them. If it's just 3/7 then it doesn't help as much, but if you can duo them or outright halve the amount of people then yeah I can definitely see it helping.
  21. It's been posted but in partial ways. Even if the new players get priority in 2.1-2.55 content, it's more the number of available players at those dungeons that worries me rather than the priority thing. It's cool don't get me wrong, but it's really just a bandaid on a more grave wound in my opinion.
  22. You get access to Early Access regardless of your status with the MSQ, but if you haven't done them you will not be able to access Ishgard proper. From what we know to get access to Ishgard you need MSQ complete.
  23. sure but then you go into the whys and the uncomfortably specific which is what he asked.
  24. that's as french as french can be. so it's good in my book!
