I was amused by the similarities between Berrod and Gharen, but luckily their personalities are super different, which is where I can punch-up the contrasts between them. -
Forging the Future After losing his sight in a terrifying incident that ultimately saved his life, renown blackmith Gelfradus Greywolfe traveled the world to study, rediscover the things that brought him joy, and seek out a new path in life. His journeys took him from the mighty thaumaturges of the Arrzaneth Ossuary and the arcanists of Mealvaan's Gate to the conjurers of the Stillglade Fane, where he learned much of aether, the arcane, and the blessings of the Twelve. He now hopes to share some of the fruits of his labor, merging magic and metalwork for others in the Gold Court of Ul'dah on the 5th bell of the 11th sun, in order to sharpen his skills and further explore his findings. By calling upon the blessings of Nymeia the Spinner and Althyk the Keeper - a blind man may provide you insight into your future... --------------------------- When: October 11th -- 2PM PST / 3PM MST /4PM CST / 5PM EST / 10PM EU / 11PM EU+1 Where: Ul'dah -- Gold Court, Steps of Thal What's going to happen?: This is a mini-event where you show up and Gelfradus Greywolfe uses a silver ingot to tell your character's fortune. How does this work?: I roll a 1d10 and depending on what number you get, your character either gets a good, bad, or 'bizarre' fortune. 1-4 being varying degrees of bad, 6-10 being varying degrees of good, and a perfect 5 triggering 'bizarre'. What can I do with the fortune? What if I don't OOCly like the fortune I got? Gelfradus himself will explain that sometimes the fortunes will go wrong for various reasons. This means you can decide for yourself whether the fortune your character gets is something you're just going to disregard or if it's cool enough that you'd want to weave it into your RP. It also doesn't necessarily have to be a fortune that predicts your character's specific future -- it can be something predicting anything your heart desires! Can I get more than one fortune?: Most definitely! Though you may find your character gets some peculiar results.

I think you're right. The greyscale's cooler colors definitely increase the sense of harshness. -

In the Future: "Uh, Tiergan?" "Mmyes?" "I -ah... I asked and paid for just a portrait, but you gave me a full-body painting of a glistening Yvelont relaxing in a sauna, dressed in nothing but a gold-trimmed loincloth, while reclining against a random nondescript box..." "I don't see what the problem is here." -

Qaeli and Rivienne, added! I was SO READY for this moment of highlander glory you have no idea. I do too! I don't know why. I think it might be because he looks even more ragged and forlorn in the grey scale one than he does in color. I'm secretly tempted to fix up the hair in the back so it'll look nicer. Thanks! -
This is the most horrifying thing I have ever seen. And yet that spider totally karma'd the crap out of those drunk people.

"There is no honor without sacrifice, no courage without discipline, no peace without war." ---------------------------------------------- Also, as a bonus, random grayscale sketchy version of Gharen before I jumped to colors. (I don't normally go grayscale first. I just randomly went with grays today while sketching. :V) BERROD, YOU'RE NEXT! O/ -
Outfits like those on guys make me tip an imaginary hat to SquareEnix for making most armor sets equally as scanty on both men and women. Bravo, SE. Bravo.

It's a very very very small consolation, but are you doing the weekly elite mark? Sadly no. I haven't really bothered with hunts because I'm not really a big fan of the Immortal Flames Tank set. I like the casting set, but you could not pay Tiergan enough gil to be seen wearing it. :V

Ha! Well, that's what I get for plucking things out of people's wikis for the portraits. Looking forward to when the wiki's updated! -
THOSE CLOTHES. Where do I get them. I'll cry if they're Maelstorm hunt gear.

"And now... I’m happy and it’s mostly because of Nebbs. For sure I still have many things to do, but I feel better than before and ready to accept what will happen next." --- YOU'RE UP NEXT GHAREN~! Also, the deadline of doom was finished September 30 (after 2 all-nighters in a row. :V) Thanks for being patient and waiting everyone! Portraits timmeee! -

Dr. Jana's Field Guide to ERPers for Everyday Folks Like Yourself

My two cents: Two consenting adults can do whatever they like in RP so long as it's private and not hurting anyone. Just like how two consenting real life adults can do whatever they like with sex so long as it's private and not hurting anyone. -
OP, I sympathise with your struggles, because dealing with RPers who are wildly mixing IC/OOC sucks. It's something that pops up in every RP community I've ever been in and is always pretty unpleasant. That said, this entire thread kind of feels as though you had a very unpleasant experience with some folks and got angry enough to try and rally the RP community into a witch hunt. While I'm sure the people you had a poor experience with really are mixing IC/OOC and were giving you an unreasonably hard time, I play this game for fun and don't really have the time or energy to police other people's RP. If someone is mixing IC/OOC or breaking other flagrant RP No-No's, I politely pull myself out of their RP and avoid them from then on. If it gets really bad - to the point where it is harassment, I simply blacklist them and move on. I recommend you do the same. The community as a whole may be small, but it's big enough where you can definitely find a solid group of awesome people to play with if you look. I certainly wouldn't alter my character and avoid describing people to avoid drama just because of all of this. The blacklist is way more useful when dealing with someone who would actually cause me trouble to the point where I can't even refer to them by name or by physical description. I also can't stress ShayRei's advice on OOC communication strongly enough, not just for you - but for everyone. A loooooooot of problems in RP communities could be more easily resolved or averted if people were less skittish about just talking to each other OOC and having open, polite communication with one another. Lastly, while I don't really judge people if they decide to ERP, I'm kinda wondering whether you're just looking for RP in the wrong places if running into futa is a growing trend or a legitimate problem for you.
