  3. In terms of Tiergan - he doesn't hate tribal miqo'te, but he's really unnerved by their culture. He's an urban miqo'te and has spent his entire life in cities. The culture and societal structure of miqo'te tribes, both Moon Keeper and Sun Seeker sound frighteningly confining to him. If he somehow wound up in a Seeker Tribe - he would probably do everything in his power *not* to end up Nunh even if it lead to people questioning his masculinity. A life spent as breeding stock just isn't what he wants to do with himself. He doesn't understand why the majority of tribe cats don't flee to the cities. Lurial doesn't have many biases. Everyone is an opportunity to learn something interesting. Furious Storm can sometimes be wary of Sea Wolf men, if they are young, loud, rowdy, and seem like they're looking to prove something. The louder and more chaotic they are, the quietly discomforted he is by them. This is mostly a product of his younger adventuring days when he'd often find himself getting into scraps with sailors in Limsa Lominsa -- most of which just happened to be Sea Wolves. All of this can easily be dispelled with friendly conversation and a good drink. Leilani, like Luri, doesn't have any biases. Everyone's an opportunity to get a sweet, sweet bard song made! NO. YOU CAN'T MAKE US. NYAH~~~ BRB. GLAMOURING SNOW COAT TO ALL OF MY GEAR. ( Also, I don't have any cool looking gear yet. Just let me have my ink-blue trenchcoat. ;_; ) Also, folks, let's keep the "I dislike certain types of characters OOC" out of this thread if we can. This is clearly a thread about what our characters ICly dislike - not a thread about what kinds of RP and characters we think are lame. The mention of why you hate certain characters OOC, even if many of us agree with some of it, can kind of take this thread down an unpleasant road if it continues, I think.
  4. W-what!? No. I don't know what you're talking about. squeeeee.
  5. Dang. I was secretly hoping that the Holy See and the Dragons were having it out for Spanish Inquisition-esque reasons. <_< Though I suppose the only info we're really getting is the Ishgardian's side of things. Ah well, this'll probably just have to be a concept I give up on for now -- at least until more Ishgard/Dragon lore pops up.
  6. That picture is bloody adorable. ;A;
  7. Thanks! I didn't know that about the dragons. That makes them a lot more terrifying than I initially thought they were, but also slightly less interesting at the same time because their status as 'bad guys' are more black and white than I hoped.
  8. I have a character with a backstory that I'm still working out the kinks of and I was hoping some of the loremasters here could help me out. (::turns on the Sounsyy signal:: ) I was debating whether it might be neat to have him be a bonefide heretic that joined the Dravanian Horde -- or just have it that be a colorful aspect of his history. Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about them or why they're locked in a war with Ishgard other than "Sentient dragons are jerkfaces." I also have no clue why anyone would up decide "Yes, sure, joining the evil dragons bent on wiping out Ishgard sounds like a great idea." I also forgot A LOT of what the heretic NPC we face off against in the MSQ says to us because it's been ages. Anyone able to give me any info and enlighten me some? Does the Dragoon questline offer any valuable insight?
  9. Welcome to Balmung and the RPC! Always good to have more highlanders too.
  10. Hgngng. I have to figure out how to stop being poor in-game. :V
  11. Hnngg. Kage looks so cute and tiny with two elezen. Also, I am jelly. I want to run into Yves in game. Pleasenoticemesenpai. Promisenottodrawanymoreshirtlesspictures.
  12. He's like Anti-Mr.Face, only I'm strangely allured instead of completely terrified. :V
  13. Tabletop is actaully an excellent analogy. I would even go as far as saying that MMO-RP has its roots in Tabletop RP.
  14. I've never RPed on Tumblr ever, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Tumblr RP probably has its roots in fanfiction. If that's the case, I can definitely get why it would be frowned upon to drop in your original characters into Tumblr-RP-land. Fanfiction is (generally) all about people writing stories with and about the characters we all fell in love with when we watched/played/read a certain movie/show/game/book. As a dorky teenager, I read a buttload of Final Fantasy fanfics because I loved the games so much that after I finished them, I wanted to keep enjoying the characters I came to care about. The last thing I wanted was for some guy/gal to drop in their original character that I didn't give a damn about and read about them rubbing elbows or attempting to be some BAMF with my favorite characters. This might be why some Tumblr RP groups find original characters icky. If a bunch of folks are doing some RP based off of Naruto and some guy has his original character doing stuff that's just as wacky and 'badass' as all of the main characters, it just feels off. In contrast, MMO RP obviously has it's roots in MMOs where we all start of creating our very own unique characters in the character creator. Unlike with fanfics, we generally don't go into the MMO already knowing the story and having favorite characters -- and even if we do (like with World of Warcraft) we as players can't play as those important characters. No one can roll up Thrall or Medivh for example. (Or you can try, but it shatters a million basic RP rules if you were to attempt to RP them.) MMO RPers take more pride in coming up with a unique character that also fits in the setting. It's typically frowned upon here to take a character from a totally different setting/game/movie/etc, made by someone else, and drop them in. Plus, it can sometimes be pretty immersion breaking for RPers to have well-known characters from other franchises suddenly appear in Eorzea -- just like it's probably immersion breaking for Tumblr RPers to suddenly have Bob the Original Character being all buddy buddy with their favorite characters from their most beloved franchises. I know I would avoid the heck out of someone literally RPing they are Son Goku or Kirito in Eorzea.
  15. Hnnngg. So happy. Gonna swap my avatar when I get home!
  16. I am with Gaspard in that its all about execution. One of my favorite people to RP with managed to take one of the most cliche 'immortal regenerating angry deadly anti-hero with tragic past' character concepts known to man in WoW and nail it in a way that everyone on our server accepted as awesome and badass. The execution of the concept felt really raw and believable - though admittedly the WoW universe lets you grt away with a lot of stuff just from the setting alone. It also helped that he was goddamn terrifying in PVP and won almost every duel he wound up in even undergeared. :V
  17. It's okay. She's a mage and possibly would have electrocuted him for staring at her boobies. ...Unless she wanted him to see her boobies. :V
  18. ::Eats some of the popcorn. Also sets up video camera::
  19. I am skyped_lurial (most original skype name everrrr!)
  20. I 'liked' some of the questions I saw that I also wanted answers to. I also laughed because it feels like 75% of all the questions come from Balmung.
